SPECIAL FEATURES
- The Despoiler's main weapon is repurposed Annihilator Kyber Crystal Cannon technology, significantly weaker but still capable of delivering enough power to blast through the majority of static fortifications.
- Six stabilizers anchor the Despoiler to the ground during both the priming and firing sequence, allowing for greater accuracy against a static target.
- When firing, a devastating energy pulse travels along a tracer beam to cause an extraordinarily powerful detonation upon impact, simultaneously conflagrating the environment it passes over as well.
- Powerful Siege Cannon: Utilizing scaled-down Annihilator Kyber Crystal Cannon technology, the Despoiler can fire a concentrated blast of condensed and refined kyber energy towards a static target with explosively destructive effect.
- Indomitable Defenses: The outer hull of the Despoiler is heavily reinforced and guarded by a series of laser turrets to deter enemy attacks, while the interior is guarded by a platoon of Imperial Legionnaires to repel boarders.
- Practically Immobile: Though carried on several repulsorlifts, the Despoiler is extremely slow to move, turn, or strafe in any direction. The optimal method of deployment is to airlift the massive weapon into position and then make as many small adjustments as possible.
- Vulnerable While Firing: The cannon bore of the Despoiler is protected by a blast shield when not in use, but the shield is retracted during the priming sequence and isn't closed until after the cannon has fired. During this window of opportunity, the internal mechanisms of the cannon are vulnerable to enemy attack which can either cripple or completely destroy the weapon.
After the successful implementation of the Annihilator Kyber Crystal Cannon on the Emperor's flagship, the Behemoth, the scientists behind the weapon's design were charged with further expanding upon what they had achieved for diverse use within the Sith Empire. At first, they tinkered with repurposing the weapon into energy production, but as with all things in the Empire, they eventually returned to expanding its uses as a tool of war.
Sizing it down was one of their first experiments, primarily to see if it was viable to use on smaller starships in a similar vein as the proton cannon. However, their devious ingenuity eventually leads them to build a siege engine around the down-sized weapon.
Naming it the Despoiler to keep in line with the weapon's original name, they presented the repurposed technology to the Emperor. Pleased with their efforts, he commanded that they replicate the weapon for use by the Imperial Legion during ground sieges.
Typical siege formation would include the Despoiler at the center of a group of All-Terrain Siege Platforms and smaller walkers, every vehicle working in conjunction to bring down enemy fortifications.
