"...Accept their fate?...If only you could hear yourself right now..."

She put her head in her hands, resting her elbows on the table as though she had a headache. But she was just trying to control her emotions. He was cold. But not in an evil way. He was just shutting everyone away and knowing that she was partly to blame was bringing tears to her eyes.

"Maybe I should, but I don't want to. I can help you turn yourself around. You can vent your frustrations, yell at me or just..." Kay got to her feet and let her satchel rest on the floor as she walked over behind him and wrapped her arms around his shoulders, however awkward hugging armour was. ".....sometimes we just need a moment to be held." She half expected him to rip her off of him or just tell her to back off. But he was always like the protective older brother she never had, even though he was her boss for a time. And there had been plenty of times when she needed to be held, but only had herself for comfort in tough times. She kept others away to protect them from her enemies, while [member="Draco Vereen"] kept others away to protect himself.

When Kay embraced me I cringed, but did not pull away immediately. “Don’t worry. Everything will be alright in the end.” Then I gently pushed her off of me. “I have work to see to and Hutts to salt, and I am sure there is a slave auction or fighting pit that you need to disrupt.” I said with a smile.

Dead inside was probably the best term for what I was. Dead inside. That which is dead may never die, but it may also never live again. It was a solid truth and there wasn’t any question of that. Kay could spend her time helping those that could be helped while I spent my time relishing what little, temporary, fleeting happy moments I had left before I fell in battle.

Kay sighed a little as she nodded. "Just try to do the right thing and not help to have others enslaved. I don't want to have to go against you. You are my friend and I don't have many of those."

She felt sad and a bit defeated. But at least she had some of her answers. Kay walked over to her satchel and slung it over her shoulder. "I'm not giving up, you know. Not now, not ever. You know how to reach me when you need me. And should I be able to raise the funds...I will hire you myself if that's what it'll take." She wrapped the covered her face with her headscarf before heading out of his apartment. She needed to get out of TU space before they knew she was there. She had no allies among them....yet.
