Digging up some Ore

[member="Solan Charr"]

As the illusion fully fell away, her eyes only became more intense and focused as she saw just how much the dark side and his own damaged mind had led to his body becoming twisted and corrupted. It was nothing new to her though. She had seen so much corruption from the dark side, she wasn't fazed. As the shadows surrounded him, that was new, and he unsheathed his sword, she drew her lightsaber and the purple blade ignited.

Falling into a dueling stance so she stood at an angle, with one hand behind her to minimize her target profile, she closed her eyes. She allowed the light side of the Force to just flow through her, trusting in it to guide her actions in this fight so she could try and save her friend. No holding back like on Carida . . . no . . . this was a different fight.

As he raced forward, she opened her eyes in time to see the powerful strike coming towards her shoulder. Pivoting around the attack, she recognized this was going to be a fight where footwork was going to be key. Her brain analyzed his attack as it sailed past her and immediately recognized undertones of Juyo. Power over finesse, would need to be careful then.

The shadows obscuring his body would tire him faster, possibly, it all depended on how much strength he was using to project them, and that was on top of his chosen attacking form. Throwing a feint out, she would continue to probe and feel out his style before she launched a counter-attack.

He smiled as she darted to the side, his blade slamming down on the ground, his body turning as he dropped the blade and lifted one of the two blasters from his waist. His other hand flicking the saber out of teh sleeve and powering it on. This was going to be interesting how she would act now, with his saber he cut horizontally, shoulder height. It wasn't overly hard to dodge or block but the crack of his blaster would be much harder to do at point blank range and with his saber to worry about. Luckily though is even if she got hit she would only be so in the leg, he wanted to slow her down and enjoy kil- no... no he didn't. Why was he thinking that.

It was too late for hesitation though as the thought's crossed his mind. What was he doing that he was attacking his friend, why was he so damned angry. What was wrong with him... no nothing. Shes getting in his head, there was nothing wrong and its her trying to say that what he was doing was evil and bad. Hypocrite, she was a sith, she probably caused more Genocides than not. She was to blame. Right. HIs confusion led to more anger which just pushed him harder. HE didn't understand why he wanted to crush her with hsi saber plunged inside her, or her body burned to a crisp. His mind just told him it was right, all those deaths told him this was right. To get them revenge for what happened to them.

As the sword swing missed, she saw him draw a blaster and his lightsaber activated in a horizontal slash at her. The crack of the blaster going off was enough to annoy her to the point the second blade of her lightsaber ignited to intercept the bolt as she spun her wrists to block his attacks. He was really trying to kill her now . . . really?

The anger and confusion was just feeding themselves, and it was leading him to actually wanting kill her. She could feel the intent behind it now, his drive to bring down a hated enemy . . . oh that does it.

Staying completely silent, her purple eyes blazing, she summoned crackling green electricity of Electric Judgment down her arm and to her saber, charging the blades with the energy. It was a very similar to something she would do as a Sith, a technique adapted from Force Lightning to charge a lightsaber blade with the energy and it would discharge when it struck something.

With a rush of the Force to augment her speed, she began her attack, her double-bladed assault designed to both shock him literally and force him completely on the defensive under a steady barrage of attacks. She wasn't aiming to kill at all, but she was fully prepared to injure to snap him out of his anger and make him realize what exactly he was doing.

Worse came to worse, she could always Force Light him.

The lightning was something he had seen before, hell heard about what it did to people during a fight but as the first connection of their blades occurred a bit of the arced energy transferred to him and his eyes shot a bit wider. His hands tightened on the blade with each hit as he had dropped the blaster. The strikes were coming faster to the point he was having a bit of trouble keeping them from cutting him up to Ribbons.

His eys grew further as he stared a her, shifting until the shadows began to grow erratic. Piercing through him and wrapping around him, expanding. His anger started rising again with a bloodlust as his ethereal grip on the force clawed for it. He started to care less about conserving his power and began to claw at the force around them. He needed more than his own power. She was stronger... no no she wasn't. How could he think that, she was scared of the power needed to protect others.

His thoughts grew ever more confused as he shook his head and attempted to separate the two of them. The air between them would slowly grow denser, movements harder on the both of them as Solan tried to manipulate they very air around them, tried to push those molecules together in order to force them to expand rapidly once more. He needed to separate the two of them now.

Well, she would have to say that was an interesting application of the Force he was using. Condensing the molecules in the air to push them further apart was rather clever, but she had noted that the discharge effect on her blades had the desired effect. He was forced to be more cautious now less he get another shock, plus he had dropped the blaster. Always a plus.

"I think you need to chill out," Taeli said, sighing as she gave a horrible pun, but the situation called for it. Even as he manipulated the molecules to push them apart, she reached out with her own senses and began cooling the water molecules in the air at a rapid pace until ice and extremely cold air surrounded Solan.

He would probably melt it, but that was precisely what she hoped he would do. Plenty of steam would occur, and as she shrank her presence in the Force down to the size of an atom, she smiled.

His mind was simply in a state of rage and he thought not even five seconds before he worked to reverse the cold and laughed. "Your application of that will not work on me Taeli. Never will that work on me and im about to show you why..." He didn't even halt with what he was doing. Without care for personal safety he heated the molecules back up till flames started erupting over the sleeves of his clothing and he grabbed a grenade from his belt. This grenade was not flash, or frag, or even a thermal detonator. It was one filled with napalm gel and as he smiled his hand moved to activate it.

The smell of slowly burning flesh would reach her nose too as his upper sleeves started to burn away and he tossed the grenade over at her direction as it erupted and the gel moved into the air in all direction. With a flick of his hand the flames would move from his arm to the gel, bursting up and creating a fire that covered the ground and spread like a wildfire. And at this point he cared not about his safety. He wanted her dead, he didn't know why, he didn't care what it cost, but he would see her burning like those slavers before her. HE would not let her survive.

Okay . . . naplam . . . not good, she thought as the grenade exploded and he lit the stuff on fire. Using the Force to augment her speed, she still wasn't fast enough to avoid some of the stuff splashing against her dress. Annoyance shot through her as she cleaved away the slowly burning fabric before it caught her leg, and it unfortunately meant her leg was now more fully exposed to attack. That was the least of her annoyances though.

Napalm, in this environment, could have harmed one of her workers. Many of them were still going about their business elsewhere while they mined the cortosis, but several had had to run from the spreading jelly and two men were yelling in pain as some of the stuff had landed on them.

Turning to face Solan again, her eyes narrowed, she was going to have to stop this now.

"I'm sorry, Solan, but that was too far," she said, letting the light side build and build within her. A slight shine of light started to surround her hand as she channeled the pent up power there, and with a flash of brilliance, a blast of pure light side energy surged from her hand to strike Solan hopefully. If it had the intended effect, it would cut off his connection to the Force for awhile and maybe snap him back into his senses.

THe light was the last thing he expected. He didn't realize she knew the attack and it was too late by the time he reacted for him to take her down. He would move his hands out and tried to shield himself with the shadows before they simply were torn apart like ribbons and the energy hit him square in the chest. It burned and his control over the flames evaporated next as he was physically launched onto his back. The damage internally was only made worse by the fact that he had been so far corrupted, his breathing barely recognizable against the slow, faint heartbeat. His eyes lost all life to them as he tried to hand on but the damage done by the force power only caused him to barely stay conscious much less alive. He didn't even realize at first what had happened, why everything hurt, why his arms were burned again. He was snapped out of the rage induced trance for now.

Sagging from the sudden loss of energy, she took several deep breaths to steady herself. She wasn't going to be doing anymore fighting or using major uses of the Force today, nope not at all, but at least it had worked. Maybe a little too well though.

"Jaxson, I need a medic over here," she said, sitting down in the dirt and still breathing heavily. She really needed to practice that more.

A medic rushed over as the fight looked to be over and started to check Solan's vital signs, while the miners stopped what they were doing temporarily.

"What did you hit him with, Miss Raaf?" the medic asked. "He's barely conscious, and suffered quite some traumatic injuries."

"A technique known as Force Light," she replied, accepting a nutrient bar from one of the workers helping the medic. It was gone in seconds. "Didn't think it would do that much damage, but apparently his corruption was deeper than I thought. He won't be using the Force for awhile though."

His eyes traced the face of the medic and then turned as it faintly glanced at Taeli. He could say nothing, he didn't understand what was going on at first. His mind was already blocking out what just happened in order to keep him sane. It was a coping mechanism that he developed but only instead of solving the issue collected it deep in his mind with everything else. If he knew he had just tried to murder his friend. It was too much for his mind to take at that moment so he continued to lay there and look up at her wordless before at the medic again. His mind started to shut down then as his eyes closed, cutting out everything.

"Did someone record what happen?" she asked to the workers. She had a feeling that part of the reason Solan had been slowly slipping had to be because his mind suppressed painful memories. It would explain just about everything about why he was in denial about what he had been becoming.

"The site cameras caught it ma'am," one of the workers said. "Shouldn't we be moving him to somewhere else. He did just attack you and tried to kill you. Plus he injured two of our men."

"No, Solan here needs help that only one place could provide," Taeli replied. "It could have been a lot worse though, Foreman. Get me a copy of that vid feed. I'll be taking him on my ship. Jaxson, make sure the operation continues to run smoothly. I'll be in touch soon."

"Where are you taking him?" Jaxson asked Solan was lowered onto a hover stretcher and moved towards her ship. "The Jedi?"

"No, my friend, he needs help from a different sect of Force users than the Jedi," she replied, looking at her friend with sadness on her face. Two more nutrient bars had already disappeared as she replenished the energy she had used in the Force Light attack. "I'm taking him to Nam Chorios."

"No idea who would be there who can help that isn't a Jedi," Jaxson said, shrugging. "I'll make sure the shipments are all good, and the mine is well established."

"Thank you," she said, pushing the stretcher up the ramp and moving Solan onto a bed. A worker ran up into her ship with the datafiles and then departed. Outside, the workers continued the mining and several freighters had finished being loaded up with ore. The operation had been a success at least, and now they would have a steady source of cortosis for the company. That was always nice.
