Diplomacy

In light of the recent TSO aggression (which shows no signs of letting up as they get better organized), I believe it's time we start engaging with other factions in addition to the IE. I'm not necessarily looking to make any alliances here, but I do think it's important we at least open up a dialogue to promote good relations. It never hurts to have more friends, and the more support we have in our corner, the less likely we'll get harassed.

For me, the first priority would be in talking to the Tygaran Alliance to repair relations. I've been having a discussion with them, and they seem open to talks, but we need to take the steps to reach out to them. I would like to go talk to them in a thread and address their grievances they have against the SJO right now.

The other factions I would like to talk to are the Imperial Remnant, and the new Mandalorian group starting up in the Onderon system because they're close to us on the map. As far as I know, they're both neutral parties right now.

Mando group is headed by Vilaz Munin, I believe. ICly, very much anti-Jedi.

Imperial Remnant has an Inquisitorius, dark-side users who's job description includes assassinating powerful Jedi. Moreover, at least one of their members is openly allied with the First Order.

Tygaran Alliance is a good idea.

I have no qualms with any of the groups, but we want to get things straight before potentially trying to open up relations with virulently anti-Jedi groups.

[member="Audren Sykes"] I understand what you mean, but if anything, we'd probably want to talk to our adversaries and potential adversaries more than anyone. Definitely not looking to buddy up with them or anything like that, though.

At the very least, if we started working with the TA again, then I'd be satisfied with that.

I don't have a problem with opening up talks with Tygara All., again. As for the Mandos, I suggest we wait until we see how they are going under Xander and his efforts to bring them back. But as it stands, they would still be considered hostile toward the Jedi.

Imperial Rem. I don't think so, ICly they are akin to the First Order.

But I would like to see what the others think on this before we open up any talks.

So many anti jedi elements and dark siders it jsut feels stupid trying to talk to them.Given historically in canon and in legends it never ends well. In chaos also rarely ends well.

What is the nature of their grievances with the SJO? :)

And as for us reaching out to them, I feel IC and OOCly that we don't really need them. We have been fine since the split, sure we have had the SO on our door step and that will not change any time soon. After all having an enemy is all part of the boards is it not?

I am just curious as to why now they wish to speak or is this your idea entirely?

I kinda like the ideas of a diplomatic corps myself. It could be quite interesting and allow for us to talk under a white flag to any major factions and possibly be called upon to settle disputes. Having Jedi act as mediators and diplomats in times of conflict could make for an interesting role in the universe of Chaos.

I really doubt we're gonna get anything out of Vilaz and the Mandos who follow him. The guy wouldn't even let us help out when their ancestral homeworld was laid to waste. Doesn't seem likely he'll agree to a simple chat at this point. :p

If the Tygaran Alliance wishes to patch up old wounds, then I'm all for it. If you have an opening to initiate talks with them please feel free to. ^_^

The Imperial Remnant I think we can rule out, though. I highly doubt they are agreeable to Jedi what with their roots to the Galactic Empire and all. Kinda tended to kill all the Jedi they could find. :p

[member="Coci Heavenshield"] The idea to speak with the Tygaran alliance was mine. Also, at the time of this posting, the IR hadn't openly sided with the First Order against the Galactic Alliance, and the FO was looking to get rid of them as rivals (they were fighting each other as recently as the Kaeshana Rebellion). Still, while the IR is anti-GA, that doesn't necessarily mean they're anti-SJO. While they're dealing with the GA network (GA, TKO, Alderaan) they may not want to get in it with us at the same time. I'm thinking some kind of non-aggression pact could be made.

As for the Mandalorians, it's honestly kind of a mixed bag. Officially, Vilaz is still Mand'alor, but there are more neutral and perhaps friendly elements with them that have some influence. Thinking about it, I'd probably have to agree to leave them to themselves for the time being and see how they act. They tend to fade off on their own without any external stimulus. We should definitely avoid the Onderon system right now, as they're establishing it as their sphere of influence IC.

To make this clear, I'd want us to pursue these talks in multiple stages, starting with the TA. With the TA in our pocket along with the IE, that gives us more leverage in speaking with other groups down the line.

[member="Thurion Heavenshield"] Thank you. I'll get something set up and tag the staff when the thread is made.

Thank you for the information and I don't have any problem with this. But just not sure about the IR at this point, I would leave them to be honest.

Also it will only be a matter of time before the Sith Order goes major, so having friends is a good idea.

[member="Coci Heavenshield"] Okay, I'm alright with skipping over the IR for now.

From what I've been seeing, TSO does look to be heading that way. They're getting bold enough to attack the GA now, and momentum is with the First Order after Kaeshana. That's one of the reasons I'm looking to lock down the Caldera to keep them from setting up next to us.

Waiting to hear back from the TA, so until then I'm going to work on recruiting new members to the SJO itself. There seems to be quite a few Jedi types floating around without a home.

*Goes off to stalk the LFG and New Members section.*

Great news, I'm in talks with another faction that's about to major, and they're ready to go ham on the Sith Order. I'm going to reach out to them as well.
