Heinrich continued to remain within the marauder encampment, awaiting for audience with this mysterious King Diega. While sitting in silence, he took a moment to survey what he could see of his surroundings. Though these raiders had been considered a threat by many, the appearance of their camp seemed rather ramshackle, pieced together only by sheer desperation and ingenuity. These raiders were a clever bunch, having found ways to repurpose almost everything left behind by the Sith. Despite this show of perseverance, Heinrich sensed an air of lingering sadness throughout the camp. His eyes narrowed as he reached out through the Force, attempting to ascertain what was behind the walls of the buildings around him. Deep within the camp, beyond the facade of strength from his captors, Heinrich could sense a sense of grief and loss...
It was becoming clear that these marauders weren't so different from the other locals that the Crusade had come here to help. They simply had their own methods of staying alive. There was no doubt that these raiders became such out of necessity, rather than greed. All the more reason to get an audience.
Eventually, the doors to the largest building opened, and out stepped an individual that Heinrich could only assume was Diega. His appearance was less imposing than Heinrich had previously anticipated. He was rather soft in demeanor, carrying a slight air of humility unsuitable for a warlord. Perhaps they could make a deal after all. Diega approached Heinrich, the two that had brought him to the camp close behind. He took a moment to size Heinrich up in silence, eyes eventually meeting as he finally spoke.
"
So, you claim to be a Jedi, is that correct?"
He was well-spoken, compared to the others, and his words carried the countenance of a politician. Perhaps there was more to this warlord than met the eye.
"
Well, not so much claim... I am a Jedi. I come as a representative of the Ashlan Crusade. We are a-"
"
You are just another government looking to impose your will upon us."
This was going to be more difficult than he thought.
"
We only seek to help your people. We are not like the Sith. Our goals are of the Light, and we are here to get the planet back to a more stabile place; to where it was before war, death, and the Dark Side."
Diega scoffed at the remark.
"
What would a Jedi know of our struggles? The Jedi simply sat idly while we suffered at the hands of the Sith for years. YEARS. Where were you when we were enslaved? Where were you when our cities were broken, and our people starved? Do not feign sympathy for us now, Crusader. You are no different than any other opportunist."
Heinrich took a moment before forming a reply. It was true, many of the Jedi had struggled with fully applying themselves to the liberation of Sith Space. Many of them were too busy wrapped up in their own spheres of influence to apply their full attention to the Tingel Arm, and the people had suffered because of it.
"
We are not like other Jedi. We are people of action, not words."
As the words left his lips, Heinrich could sense the approach of
Millia Brimarch. The timing was so perfect, one could almost think it had been choreographed. Heinrich turned toward the gates as they begun to open, revealing Sister Brimarch and those that had escorted her to the encampment.
"
Perhaps a show of good faith will help put your mind at ease, King Diega."
If they could show the truth of their intentions to these raiders, perhaps they could come to a peaceful conclusion.
