Rhiza was quick, but the rapid teleportation of her assailant caught her of guard and the force blast caught her in the back. She shouted with pain, had she not been trained in resisiting the darkside it might have been a killing blow, but instead it scorched her suit and blistered her skin as she spun round to readress her assailant. She moved rapidly, still on pain but allowing her darker side to relish in it. She jumped and spun horizontally allowing the riftblade to spin around her in a defence before lashing out with it to try and sever the woman at her torso. She accompanied this with a throwing shuriken that she had unleashed from her wrist as she deactivated her lightsaber. "What do you hope to gain here witch?" she asked as she landed back down in the mud and steadied herself. She was beginning to tap into the darkside and her face showed her passion.

The soldiers joined her and they continued along the wall, the armed men were able to quickly put down the guards without much trouble while Annika cast a veil over them to cloud the perception of the defenders so every engagement seemed to come as a suprise.

Eventually the group reached the gate house and they dropped down, there was a trio of guards and a terminal on the wall controlling the main door for that section. "Keep one alive, we might need his code to get the door open." she said as her men quickly put blaster rounds into the heads of the other two, leaving him scared and alone. Annika dropped to the ground and whipped her hand right to take his legs out from under him before he had chance to level his blaster at him. She activated her purple lightsaber and pointed it at her chest before smiling. "Open the gate, please." she asked with a kind smile.

"No you sith spit! Kark off" he knew he was as good as dead anyway, why would he cooperate, she supposed. Her smile curled and she gently ran her hand along her clavicle while her saber hummed in the air. "But I asked so nicely, your a handsome young man, why not help a girl out." she deactivated her blade to seem more approachable. The man could not explain it, who was this girl, she was beautiful, the very scent of her gave him butterflies in his stomach, he had never seen anyone so amazing. He felt his body responding more physically as, unknown to him, Annika stroked and enhanced the lust that all men have inside them. "OK OK, I'm sorry baby, I'll do it yeah then...erm.." he looked at her hungrily before standing and unlocking the door.

An unfortunate consequence of Annika's inexperience with these powers was her lack of control, and as he turned back toward her, whe saw a look in his eyes as his lust grew exponentially and began to override his sense of decency and of law... he was going to make her his own. Annika was expecting this, so as the infantry man advanced on her, she reactivated her blade and his lust was ended with a single thrust to his chest. "Maybe next time, sweetie" she whispered in the ear of the dying man before deactivating her saber and letting him drop lifeless to the floor.

<<The door is open when you are ready>> she sent it a comm to Astrid pentoghast Astrid pentoghast and the rest of her ground forces as

Mia let out a breath of releief that she complied, for the barest of moment she thought she would have to fight the girl and that was the last thing she needed. She needed Lio to know that she was not alone, that fighting together was better than fighting alone, that she was there for her. She followed the girls gesture nodding in understanding. They kept low and quiet, hunting their prey.

Beneath her helmet, Mia murmured the troopers locations into comms to Coren Starchaser Coren Starchaser watching through the binocs as Liorra ensnared them in. She reported them neutralized, but at the least it would help Coren build a picture of where the sith were coming from. She chewed Liorra's words over for a moment.

"Gar shuk meh kyrayc, Lio'ika" she said, moving them forward, those troopers had to come from somewhere. if they could locate their landing zone, they could likely locate others. "Gar echoy'la a akaanir. Mhi an sarna akaanir. Biai gar pabida norac laam teh mies sarnr cuyir meg dici'a gar. Gar cuyir jate'shya ui ibic"

Danger tingled up her spine, and she yanked Liorra behind a tree as a sniper bolt hissed into the ground where they had been seconds before. She took a knee, pulling the rifle from her back, her HUD switching to thermal as she stuck her head out to get sight on him. A few hundred meters out, and halfway up a tree. Another bolt hissed passed her head. Mia hated snipers. Irritated she stepped out, lifting her rifle to her shoulder. S burst of fire left the muzzle and a sniper bolt pinged off her pauldron, forcing the sniper in to cover.

"Shaadlar"

She stayed in the open drawing his fire, pinning him down with short bursts, slowly moving forward.

Helix let out a mechanical growl as a flurry of data flashed through his mind. They were certainly every ounce the clones he remembered. Heroic to the last. They were spending their lives by the hundreds not to stop him, but to slow him, and in that regard they were succeeding. Normal human soldiers would have broken discipline many times over by now, but here they stood.

The swamps were ablaze with blue flames for miles in any given direction, and his scanners read a level of radiation in much of it that would be fatal to most unprotected organic life in minutes. The destruction being wrought around him was like few others he'd ever seen, even during the worst battles of the Clone Wars. His forces were pushing them back on all fronts, and the enemy were paying dearly for the ground they attempted to hold. The problem was, he was also paying to take it.

On the ground, B1H casualty rates among the initial strike force were substantial, in excess of 22%, and rising by the minute. The droids did better against the clones than their predecessors would have, at least, using the cover of the rocks, trees, and other debris scattered about to good effect. The clones' ion-charged blasters were still butchering them en masse, though, their increased armor offering little protection against such weapons. The droids' numbers, and a determination to match their enemies' own, were carrying the fight, helped by occasional reinforcement drops from his remaining Dreadhawk gunships. These were working overtime replacing losses when they could safely do so. A few had already been shot down trying.

For the HX4, things were going better, but the clones seemed to quickly wise up to their tricks, forcing the infiltrator droids to fight conventionally. Their casualty rates mostly remained at acceptable levels, but he still lost contact with one now and again. The damage, however, had been done; several of the enemy's heavy weapons emplacements had been destroyed, and he ordered the infantry droids and vehicles to press these weakened points hard. Already, several groups had broken through, the charge often led by the Banestrikes or Avalanches that split off from the main force concentration.

The Linebreaker droids and enhanced droidekas were getting it just as bad as the regular infantry, though the enemy was paying a horrendous toll for each that fell, forced to commit significant firepower and manpower just to destroy one. He was beginning to realize that he was actually facing a relatively small force, just one that made very intelligent use of the terrain, and frankly out-skilled his standard infantry on the individual level. Obsolete though their armaments were compared to his, they were putting up one hell of a fight. Still, even clones must bend, and eventually break, as he picked their lines apart. Or so he hoped.

It seemed that the day would soon be his. The clone gunships were falling from the sky in droves to the oppressively-dense missile fire from below, and icons in his vision that represented enemy troop or armor concentrations were vanishing at a rapid rate. He had (mostly) established air superiority by this point, hunting down the enemy air support with his Condors and a few squadrons of newly-arrived Calliphoras.

Some of the fighters surged low into the trees as the gunships attempted to dodge them, pursuing the enemy air assets through the flaming boughs with dazzling displays of maneuverability. A few, seeing no gunships to chase, instead turned their attention to the ground targets, strafing squads of clones with their laser cannons when the dense flames and brush allowed any visibility, which was seldom.

A pair of Crocotta bombers broke off from harassing the enemy artillery to turn their attention to the remaining bunker, raining down ordnance around it. They were joined by one of the gunships, which began to bathe the makeshift structure in blue phosphorus rockets.

Most of his weapons and armor were designed to crush morale as effectively as simply kill, being deliberately cruel and horrifying. This was not quite as effective on the clones as against most he'd faced. They kept up the fight, even as it began to turn against them, and he knew he was on a timetable.

"Isolate the enemy pockets and surround them." Helix ordered. "And have the remaining gunships drop us some infantry reinforcements." Those gunships that had not been shot down began to comply, when he stopped them. "Hold on that drop." He amended. "Something isn't right. Spread out!" The order came far too late.

Then the world was turned upside-down.

His transport shook, then upended as a thunderous explosion caved the earth out from under him. The enormous vehicle was in free-fall briefly, then wedged itself in between the walls of a massive ravine that had been newly-created under it. He dimly registered that tanks, transports, and infantry were winking out of existence all over his scanners as ion distortion briefly made his readings flicker. Hundreds of losses in seconds. It was little other than luck that his current body had not been fried, delaying the invasion even more. He shook himself, standing up in his seat and exiting the trapped vehicle out the top hatch.

A clone was waiting for him, standing above the hatch with rifle raised, and Helix acted first, seizing the soldier by the ankle and yanking him downward. His helmeted head clanged off the rim of the cockpit hatch, and Helix hauled himself up, grabbed the stunned cloned by the shoulder, and hurled him off the transport into the ravine. The vehicle disgorged its cargo, a pair of Knightslayer droids backed up by an entire company of his remaining infiltrator droids. They climbed up the walls of the ravine, with many being shot down by the clones that assembled at the edges and on the fallen trees to fire down at them in a textbook-perfect killbox.

The Knightslayers reached the top in a single leap from the transport, landing behind the clones. Helix heard sabers ignite, then screaming, and the enemy fire stopped. He reached the top after a few seconds, not quite as sprightly as his droids were. He looked to the Knightslayers and the bodies they were surrounded by. "You and you, with me. H4X squads 062 and 063, with me as well. The rest, join your brethren in tracking down whoever is coordinating this assault. Prioritize officers and the remaining heavy weapons teams, but do not hesitate to engage other targets of opportunity. Happy hunting." He reached down, stripping a helmet from the head of one of the dead clones, and tossing it to one of the infiltrators. "Bring that with us. I have an idea. See if you can patch me through into enemy command channels. I'd like a word with their leader." He doubted it would work, but it was worth a try.

Helix then received a flurry of binary transmissions from his air assets. The enemy had some sort of cloaked fighters, though not many of them. They were attacking his armor assets, and knocking out several of the remaining tanks. "Calliphora units, clear the air. We need those fighters gone, lest this advance be slowed worse than it already has been." He ordered. "Rely on skill and practice, and follow their weapons discharges." As ordered, several of the deadly interceptors broke off from terrorizing the gunships and ground forces, at least two or three per enemy fighter, and streaked off after them. He wasn't sure of the actual extent of the enemy fighters' capabilities, but he had to trust that his droids could keep them away.

He flagged down a passing transport that had survived the ion bursts and explosions, packing himself and his elite troops inside it. He slammed the hatch shut, and took a closer look at the new tactical situation.

The losses had been severe, very severe, but not unsalvageable, and their reinforcements were already patching the gaps in their lines, at least as far as infantry went. He was thankful his pace had been a cautious one, or things could have been far worse. He had several transports and tanks that had punched through the gaps created by the H4X teams, and were wreaking havoc on the rear lines. The enemy was being slowly and painfully encircled on all sides, his superior numbers and logistics paying dividends. For every droid that fell, the gunships dropped off ten more, often on the flanks or rear of the enemy defensive, and the fighters in the air protected them to their utmost, though not always successfully.

He checked his assets. A number of transports remained, though perhaps not enough to take the temple, and the swamp was too dense and too hostile to drop off any more on this spot. If he wanted more, they'd take time to arrive. He'd have to work very closely with the Sith troops when (or if) he got there. "All remaining Avalanches, creeping barrage on the enemy positions I am marking." He ordered, sending several sets of coordinates that matched where the enemy pockets appeared thickest, especially the temple grounds. "Mixed load X16 and conventional fragmentation. Afterwards, push forwards and assault the enemy pockets while they're still reeling. Keep loose formation, but watch your flanks. We don't need any more surprises like the last one."

He knew the enemy's game. It was a familiar one. They were trying to waste his time, slow his advance as much as they could. He was being forced to spend assets rooting out clones and blasting away the enormous fallen trees that now barred his path instead of storming the halls of the temple. If it was a battle of attrition they wanted, though, he was happy to oblige. The environment around them was deadly to both sides, but far more so for the organics, as vast clouds of toxic fumes raised by the burning trees were building up in enormous concentrations, promising death to whatever breathed them, or even touched them for too long. The radiation, too, was rising by the minute. The longer this dragged on, the greater his odds of victory.

The two biggest problems were the remaining (though dwindling) artillery, and the fighters above, but neither would suffice to halt the vast military force now closing like a gauntlet around the enemy's collective necks, with each individual clone strongpoint being methodically surrounded and hammered hard. He'd ordered his remaining forces to spread out somewhat to minimize casualties from the artillery and explosives, but not enough so that they could be easily isolated and pocketed in turn. No squad was more than a few moments away from reinforcement. Unbeknownst to Helix, he had come to the same conclusion as the enemy's commanders: the swamp would be taken in minutes, at this rate. One by one, the pockets of reported enemy resistance began to crumble.

Helix still wasn't entirely sure this wasn't some sort of hallucination, a glitch in his vast, ancient consciousness that was causing him to see regular enemy soldiers as clones. They certainly fought like his old enemy. If not for the confirmations from his droids, he'd not believe it. He made a note to question this force's commander, if they could be captured, to find out how this was possible. The infiltrator droids had reported a few confirmed kills of enemy officers, or what they believed to be enemy officers, but he doubted a clone was at the head of the snake. No, if it was anything like the old days, a Jedi led them. At the very least, this was some wealthy rival mercenary captain who had somehow contrived to conjure up Fett clones. He'd find out, one way or another.

Lio once more paid little mind to Mia, dead. "Kyr'am jimeh cuyir jara'i otir Ni gaanader at cuyir a hut'uun." The next few moments were a bit of a blur, felt herself being yanked backward. Lio hit Dagobah's floor and cursed under her breath. Her hands clutched around her blaster, she rolled away from Mia and took aim at those who were stupid enough to expose themselves. She squeezed down the trigger, catching one but the other managed to get out of the way. "Boshtek," she cursed in Tygaran, and shifted away to find new cover as the crimson hue of blaster fire scorched its way through Dagobah's trees. Mia had asked her, what this was about, and Lio was a little confused by it. What more was there to tell? She had become a coward in the face of adversity, turning her back on everything her mother Shia had taught her. The loss amplified her feelings regarding the way the Jedi had continously ignored her. "Meg sto cuyir ogir at rejorhaa'ir? Ner katheraoagr cuyir biai Ni oyacyir."

He cared little for the Jedi's remarks, simply eager to get her out of the way before he had to turn his attention back to the Kainite, but her jab at him retreating from her in the past did strike a chord in his pride. In the past he had indeed weaseled his way away from her the past two times but now was different. Now he was a Sith Lord and she was the one outnumbered. This time she'd be the one having to run, if she would be capable of such by the time he was done with her at least.

Darth Strosius grinned in victory as his blades moved to cut the Jedi down, a grin that faded into confusion as they simply passed right through her. And then she passed right through him. A very unexpected maneuver but one that he was determined not to be caught on the backfoot by for long. He pulled his blades back as he shifted his body and dug his feet into the ground, skidding to a stop as he shifted to try and face the Jedi.

It only took him a few moments to correct his course, but those few moments had proven to be precious indeed. The masked man managed to just barely bring his blades up in time to begin blocking her relentless assault, gritting his teeth at being put on the defensive both out of annoyance and due to the fact that he was still getting his footing at the moment. His feet were forced to move quickly and his body to contort oddly as he had to simultaneously get to a proper stance to keep himself upright whilst defending himself from her onslaught all the while.

The hand holding his sword crackled with lightning, arcs starting to travel up the dark blade as he kept up his defense and managed to get his feet back underneath him to steady himself. Barely, but still managing. He glanced up as the lamppost started to come down and began trying to lash out against the Jedi in return, quick stabs and slashes amidst his blocks that would hopefully push her back a bit to give himself some breathing room and give the post a better chance at hitting her.

"Katheraoagr?"

She meant to say more, but another blaster bolt ricocheted of her armour and she lost her temper. "Karking, dar'jetti." she spa, her hand snapped out to the snipers position, a blast of dark energy erupting from her fingers, tearing through the tree he's taken cover in leaving a smoking chasm in his chest. she returned both hands to the rifle, moving with Liorra and covering her flanks, keeping low.

"Gar ru uhyih a hut'uun, Liorra."
she said as they paused again. "Gar tok'kad teh Dwed, at bruk kak teh kyr'am. A olar gar cuyir, akaanir, tug'yc. Gar akaanir bat Mariy. Tug'yc bal tug'yc gar pabida norac laam. Gar cuyir sarcahye ohvasktr be meg bic cuyir at cuyir a mando."

Certain they were no longer under fire, she caught Liorra's arm, forcing her to face Mia. She took her helmeted head in her hands and rested her own buy'ce against hers. "Ni malyasa'yr cuyir giarioa at juha gar ner ad'ika"

Liorra's attention turned toward the sniper for a moment, and turned away when he was returned to his maker. Keeping low among the foliage of Dagobah she remained at Mia's side. Keeping her senses and eyes opened for enemies along the way. The girl's tone rather even and flat, as she responded,"a va a jetii." So, she was the example of a Mandalorian, great. It did nothing to assuage the feeling of rejection she still felt and the intrusive thoughts that had plagued her since Dxun.

After a few moments, she felt Mia grab at her arm, Lio didn't fight her. Helmet to helmet the girl heard the words of her elder and for a moment she softened. Turned away even, such affection she did not deserve - the thought that circled her mind. "Ni cuyir gtaya al'verde a Ni-," the words dropped as she pushed Mia to the side, quick on the draw she fired her blaster one way and then utilized plantsurge to grab other troopers. Dropping back Liorra focused her blaster fire and then turned back toward the troopers and utilized her pyro abilities to set the plants a blaze but not before ensuring that she drove tree bark through exposed joints to hold them in place.

"Ni cuyir ijaa de gar miit a Ni chaab val cuyir naritir va at cuyir bu'linara a adiik be gar malyasa'yr cavu'a gett'se." Even though her attention was focused on Mia, she was still able to fire her blaster toward the lone trooper who tried to attack her. She got him point blank range, "A vor entye."

904 and 424 had fled carefully from the approaching battle lines, the creeping chaos and radiation rapidly killing off the remaining clones in the set up killbox trees, now being slowly but surely blasted through.

"This is pretty fethin' bad, Boss..." 424 said to 904 after reaching the last defensive barriers and lines the Clone Troopers had set up. Only a token remnant, a hundred of them was still guarding the base of the temple itself, and the remaining few hundreds now all committed to the swamp.

"The Gas is dropping our brothers like flies!" 904 whispered, horrified, even as the pain from radiation damage increased, along with Nausea. But he would fight as long as he could stand.

The remaining defensive line had been well thought out, even as they were strafed from above occasionally by starfighters. The Composite Beam Turrets from the LAAT'S that hadn't been cleared for service had been scavenged, hastily set up and camouflaged with their power plants set up in an ad hoc manner around the defensive lines. As the secondary artillery barrage began to creep they began sweeping arcs around the woods, severing more trees in calculated manners at a long distance, just to make all their humanoid bots not affected by the radiation find it that much more difficult to traverse the terrain during their advance.

But it soon became apparent that the composite beam turrets were going to be a huge problem, both in the numbers and in how they had been set up.

There were over seventy composite beam turrets the clones had at last finished setting upon the swamp while the forest had been collapsed in on the Droid Army of Commodore Helix Commodore Helix and how the they had been set up was the really cunning part.

The Heavy Weapons officers amongst them knew their explosives would only bring down so many droids so as they were being overrun earlier, many of them had managed to fire a flare into the air as it looked like they would lose.

At that sign, The beam turrets would be fired, the Clone Troopers defensive emplacements set up to funnel any droids that would try and take them right into the firing arcs of the far away turrets.

But even with the radiation and gas killing them much closer to the advancing line, the Clones would spend literally their last moments alive trying to destroy as many droids as possible, and tried to optimize their firing angles even as the gas killed them to try and hit as many droids as possible, reasoning even if they couldn't destroy all they could at least damage a lot of them.

(THIS Plays)

One of the Heavy Weapons Officers, whose name was 222, fired his DC-15S at full Auto at the relentless hoard, forced back continuously along with the Survivors of his squad , watching clones dragging their heavily wounded brothers across the swamp and mud, heavily burned, dying from radiation, and gas, yet still doing all they could to fire back at droids in their last moments before being savagely cut down, but not before taking half a dozen to a dozen in some cases.

He had heard tales of the Clone Wars. He now understood what his ancient forebears felt, trying to hold back the relentless press of machines.

"Brother, load me!" He shouted to 520 next to him, who had his DC-15A firing in their full auto configuration, using a sling, a tripod and aim stabilizers to control his fire.

"Huh?" 520 called out.

"My Launcher!" 222 yelled, tossing him his launcher and ammo belt. "I got two left! And Ion and a plasma! Load the Ion!"

520 loaded the Ion grenade and tossed it back before picking up his rifle and continuing to fire back. The Clones in the distance demonstrated their resourcefulness...and ruthlessness, using the cover of damaged vehicles and shattered and toppled trees, in many cases even using mounds of their own dead brothers as emergency sandbags to try and slow down the droids and give them just an extra few seconds of cover and retaliation. Even now, as the air burned, and sky exploded and their organs started to fail from fatal rad poisoning...

...their retreat never stopped being orderly, and never stopped trying to inflict as many enemy casualties as they could, and in some cases this discipline, this utter bravery allowed them to fight back two to three waves of reinforcements before being cut down. If the Droid's wanted to reach the temple, the Clones would make them pay for every. Last. Centimeter.

The Jedi Pilots above had begun strategically dropping and shooting down enemy starfighters, so that they would crash into lines of droids, even as they themselves were sought out and pursued by some of the best starfighters Helix had as well as ripping apart the gunships with their disruptor cannons, as well as enemy fighters. They had been clearly designed with very high quality in mind, and it wasn't until one had taken light damage from a grazing artillery shot that the pilot's stealth system was disabled. But he fought on downing three of the Calliphoras before they managed to shoot him down. But just as a parting shot, he ejected just as he aimed his crashing starfighter into a row of the remaining tanks.

The explosion was tremendous. and blasted apart every Droid in the immediate vicinity of the crash explosion, including some of the bigger ones, providing momentary relief for the surviving clones of the kill box tactic they had used earlier as they retreated to now constantly firing lines of clones, their marksmanship demonstrated as increasing numbers of droid heads simply began to explode from well placed shots from DC RIfles, or were cut down by the beam turrets. The remaining lines of battle were where the concentration of both anti vehicle and anti personnel mines were greater in the remaining lines as Droids got closer, whole lines of mines erupting and shredding droids as they tried to pass over what they thought was more clear terrain. But the turrets were starting to feel the brunt of it as their operators shot at targets above and below. Fifteen of them winked out from attacks from starfighters or by having their positions overrun, the devastating sweeps of fire the beam turrets were executing was shredding through as many droids as a line of soldiers were.

222 in the middle of this hellish death zone he was being paid by Bacta-Works to go fight and die in fired the 40mm Ion grenade into a crowd of the B1 units. At least, he thought they were. Seemed a tad smarter than normal, more frequent use of cover. His 15S had finally run out of ammo, so he used the last Plasma grenades for his launcher and fired it at an H4X that had been caught in mid air as it had jumped for him.

520 cried out as he was struck in the chest and killed instantly by a blaster, making 222 pick up his rifle and began spraying automatic fire into the Droid Army ahead of him, and was about to run dry when the Jedi that had been shot down, wearing his custom Flight Suit that gave him a degree of protection from the Radiation, arrived, lifting up an entire platoon and smashing them into the ground with telekinesis.

"Nice night for a walk..." 222 remarked.

"Wash day. Nothing clean..." The Jedi answered as he used a Force wave on another Platoon, Before using his telekinesis to try and drive back some of the toxic gas, and buy defenders another few minutes...

Meanwhile, 904 was contacted by a Clone Comms officer.

"Sir, it seems the Droid forces want to talk to you."

"It's a trick. Send no reply." 904 answered back.

(Cutaway of Obi-Wan giving a thumbs up)

"Sir, should we do Phase 3?" 424 asked over the blaster fire and turret fire.

904 nodded grimly.

At 424 giving the command, there was a rumble that could be felt on the ground. A tremble.

A lot of the Clone military equipment had been in storage so long Nathan could not, in good conscience, allow it's use until a massive wave of inspections took place.

But one thing that had not been in any real question was the Droidekas. They were almost in perfect working order.

That was exactly why dozens and dozens and dozens of Droidekas tore through the swamp, just as a cluster of Tibanna Gas canisters taken from DC RIfles, placed at strategic points such as underneath weapon emplacements that would be overrun, went off just as The Rows and Rows of Droidekas two hundred and seventy five strong began unloading on both large and small droids from strategic areas in the swamp that made them harder to fire back on, backed by spider webs of composite beam fire and sniper fire, which blasted apart quite a large number of the H4X Droids, unable to react to the treacherous adjustment in tactics

But the Clones had lost a hundred fifty more during this latest action...how many before they were truly overrun?

This one was playing to the Gerwald Lechner he once knew. The wolf remembered some semblance of that man. Both of them were far removed from that day on Rhand where Gerwald nearly gave his life to save a transport full of civilians. It had been the one act which opened the wolf to the amount of power he knew himself to be capable of now. His deflection of the Force Storm Darth Solipsis had unleashed upon them had been pivotal.

It opened him further to the use of the Dark Side of the Force.

Gerwald thought about that moment. His mind was taken back to others still. Voph had once told him his leadership was marked by the fact he understood the weight of giving orders which sent other Knights into harm’s way. Others had not understood that and ridiculed his decisions as being selfish. A much younger Lord Commander would have given into the request far too easily. Today, Gerwald had to think on it.

He nodded, but did not move.

Nothing for Gerwald was simply free any longer. Rather this was something to leverage. Ruus could not have been naive enough to think the wolf had not changed. Certainly he heard rumors of the Hound of the Sith, Empyrean’s Wrath, and the Emperor’s Executioner. While Gerwald was still the same man, he also was not. The wolf was a darker version of the person he had once been.

Still, he knew what Naedira would have wanted in this situation. The Confederacy were not those to butcher innocent civilians, not without merit. Yes, they had raised worlds like Copero, but those circumstances were not these. Killing civilians would be needless bloodshed, and the ground was already wet and stained crimson.

“They may pass, provided the minute they are safe you turn your units toward the capitol building. The Rimward Trade League dies today. How bloody that is depends on your decision.”

Yes, Gerwald was suggesting that Ruus use his military to capture whatever government officials attempted to escape. The wolf would not suffer a rebellion beginning in what was soon the Sith territory, and certainly not by any survivors of the Trade League’s power base. They would all be executed, but Ruus had it within his power to determine how humane their deaths would be.

It was a fair offer to an old friend.

“You do not need to add to your sins, though I am afraid it is far too late for me.”

With that Gerwald stepped aside and allowed the civilians to cross over.

Astrid Was a little disappointed that the force blast didn't kill but wasnt surprised. The jedi where full of surprises and she figured they would have ways of resisting the darkside of the force. As rhiza made her move Astrid didn't move until the last moment as she summoned a blade out of thin air blocking rhizas attempt to slash across her torso. As darkside tendrils appeared from the swamp one of them blocked the shuroken that was thrown at her disintegrating it on contact as three tentacles shot out aimed at rhizas throat and legs.

she smirked at what rhiza asked even chuckled coldly "to turn those in this temple turned into zombies or converted to the darkside and steal the information and possible artifacts inside for personal gain" she stated she sensed rhiza Taping Into the darkside. The passion noticeable rhiza would see creatures of shadow that looked like what rhiza feared the most the three of them charged rhiza if the tendrils of darkness failed to disintegrate rhiza the creatures blows would be very real as they attacked rhiza.

Mia's eyes narrowed behind her visor at the mention of the Jedi. She was caught between two worlds, desperately wanting to belong to both, but not feeling like she fit in either. Understanding was starting to dawn, but how did Mia pull her back? Mia herself was so far down the dark path that she had resigned herself to it, embraced it even. But the pain it had cost her to get there? She didn't want that for Liorra.

She moved with the shove, lifting her rifle hesitating as Liorra dealt with the next wave with more skill than most full fledged warriors. Pride swelled in her chest and she sighed. "Lio'ika, gar ganar sto gett'se o'r gar euk gi'dr, miak stas verd decupu gar aor."

Mia rose leaning against the tree to look beyond it. "Mhi cuyir atba'a'yu gebi, temya'r bat ibic jupayr, Ni cuyir slanar at briirud rud bid mhi liser nynir etid teh bintar eso."

Lio acknowledged with a nod and continued to move on the path directly. Clutching her weapon she watched as Mia parted from her company. She narrowed her gaze on the path the al'verde was set to take. Lio shifted her attention toward the enemy and waited another moment, the another and finally she utilized her plantsurge to grab at several of the sith troopers pulling them back and into the open. Easy pickings for the Liberator, when the attention of the others turned on the teen. The young girl got out of the way and let the liberator take lead as she squeezed down on the trigger. She shouted over the chaos of battle, "Stas verd decupu ner aor cuyir kyrayc, ra ragida na."

"Sir, the clone forces have rejected your attempt at communication." Said the H4X sergeant who had been given the helmet. Helix nodded. He'd expected that. Clones didn't negotiate. "I tried to be nice." He said, injecting a note of wry false regret into his voice. "Very well. I guess I'll just have to speak a little louder."

The situation, in his favor moments ago, was beginning to turn back again. That was the way of things. Battle was a treacherous mistress, and her gaze seldom lasted long. His enemy was adaptive, resourceful, and above all, determined. They were eating up a great many resources for so small a force. He just hoped his clients were making use of it. These losses would become unprofitable sooner or later.

His droids were now reporting a Jedi on the ground that had ejected from a downed enemy starfighter. That greatly complicated matters, but it did confirm his suspicions correct. These clones were not likely owned by mercenaries.

An energy beam swept the hull of his Avalanche, causing it to shake slightly as the vehicle's mighty shields and armor absorbed the impact. The transports were mostly weathering the blistering storms of enemy fire (and their own toppling fighters) well, refusing to fall to external damage. Their weapon configurations, however, were not quite ideal for this scenario. Their railguns were too slow-firing to be of much use against the clones, who were deploying few vehicles. Their rockets were inflicting a terrible toll, but already several reported they were out of ordnance. The Beacon flamethrowers alone were of much use, turning the fallen trees to ash with the incredible heat of their fuel mixture and incinerating any infantry unfortunate enough to be caught in them.

The enemy was now trying to topple more foliage onto him. He wasn't quite so foolish as to fall for the same trick twice, ordering the vehicles to blast them aside. Phosphor drivers and railguns sang in a coordinated chorus, and trees that had perhaps stood for millennia were shredded in an instant by hypersonic munitions.

Enemy mines were continuing to be the biggest killer. He instructed his droids to be on the lookout for them, but many were well-hidden, and had stalled the advance on several fronts while his troops disarmed or bypassed them. There was nothing to be done for it. If he allowed this offensive to halt, lost his momentum, he'd be forced on the defensive before long. At that point, the battle would effectively be over. He'd have to spend so long reorganizing and recovering losses that his participation in the battle for the temple would be minimal, if not nonexistent.

Helix did make a point of attempting to recover as many droids as possible after a battle for repair, but here he suspected many were permanently lost. Loyalty should be rewarded, even when it was compulsory. A shame, but victory never came without sacrifice.

A transmission came in from the infantry droids engaged in the thick of the fighting. The enemy had deployed droidekas. A lot of droidekas, and they were targeting his special forces. To their credit, the infiltrator droids reacted quickly after the initial shock of the counter-ambush, reorganizing and falling back into the clouds of thick blue smog that his troops were using as moving cover. Those that could seized their fallen comrades and dragged them away. The railguns on the transports now found new use, hammering into shields and shattering ancient droid models to pieces. It wasn't quite their intended target, but it seemed to work, the sheer kinetic violence of the Ironbreakers' impact cracking shields and armor.

"Roll out the B3S reserves." He ordered. He'd been saving these for long-range fire support at the temple, but it was a final pass before he brought out the big guns and had to explain to his clients why he'd turned their new swamp into a parking lot. He had a feeling they'd be less than pleased. Likely, they already would be with all the collateral damage. This location would be completely unlivable for a long while, if his radiation sensors were anything to go by.

The droidekas discreetly deployed in the rear of the transports, taking up positions in a wide semi-circular formation around the joined battle lines. Each picked a separate target, and fired.

Some picked enemy droidekas, others targeted the distant turrets where they were visible through the haze. In either case, the results were generally the same: another pile of wreckage to add to the carpet of organic and mechanical corpses littering the swamp and choking the waterways. They staggered their shots, remaining in communication with one another. Despite the slow rate of fire of their weapons, they began to rack up quite a toll in a very brief time, their accuracy nearly perfect. The droids' expensive targeting systems allowed for some truly impressive trick shots, and they coordinated extensively with the regular infantry. When troops reported a droideka, it was targeted, with the projectile plowing through any intervening foliage or soft cover to reach its target. Some began to turn their weapons skyward, searching for any sign of the enemy fighters.

For their part, the B1H and B2H droids reacted to the growing mine casualties by filtering through the denser areas of blazing foliage, or increasingly, by having the fighters strafe the path ahead to prematurely detonate any enemy explosives. It was crude, but it worked, and the advance began to pick up speed again. Those assigned with handheld railguns of their own who remained alive, began to use them on the enemy droidekas. Most of the B2H models were out of rockets by this time, and thus typically were ordered to focus on the infantry.

The droid advance had reeled under the enemy counterattack. Many of his squads had been scattered, and many of the reinforcing gunships were being shot down by the enemy fighters before they could deploy fresh troops. Still, enough got through to fill some of the losses, and the advance began to gather steam again as the droids regrouped and reorganized with professional ease.

A Banestrike tank shuddered as it was focused by several of the beam turrets at once. It fired back, its monstrously-powerful weapons reducing several of the emplacements to slag, but one of the beams struck its weapon battery, causing the tank to sputter and burst into flames. It began to melt into a molten puddle from the heat of its own munitions. Another nearby tank that had been travelling with it let out an electronic screech, a noise Helix knew well. He knew what it was going to do, and he didn't stop it.

The remaining tank charged the enemy lines at high speed, plowing through trees, barricades, clones, and anything else that stood in its way. Its hull was soon awash in blood and blazing with its own ruptured fuel as it ran heedlessly over mines and soldiers with equal abandon. With one final shriek, it detonated in the midst of an enemy concentration, activating its self-destruct charges.

The resultant explosion was enormous even by the standards of the pandemonium going on, a great azure mushroom cloud that rose over the tops of the mighty trees. Emplaced IEDs, tanks, and weapons magazines cooked off in the incredible heat, and a rippling blast wave tore through the swamp. Droids, clones, trees, rocks, all were hurled aside or vaporized, depending on their proximity, in a massive toxic blast radius that left the area blazing in flames that were nearly pure white in their intensity. The swamp water in the area boiled and evaporated, and the very air sizzled with lethal heat. Helix's own transport shuddered again, the shields wavering even at a fair distance.

As they were wont to do, some of the B1H droids paused in their fighting to salute the explosion. It was tradition among them, for reasons below his paygrade, to do so when a Banestrike went haywire. He was trying to build a nation, and traditions should be tolerated, even annoying ones like this. If it raised their mechanical spirits, so be it. He made a note later to find out which unit had originated the custom, as it had now spread to nearly every infantry droid in his organization.

While the detonation had scourged a sizeable area of swamp clean of life or cover, that only gave the beam turrets and railgun droidekas a clearer line of fire at each other. Railgun shells cored turrets they hit, splattering their operators all over the insides, and beams likewise blasted droidekas they touched to pieces. These turrets were a new and highly-unpleasant issue, and he ordered the sniper droidekas to focus on them as priority targets.

So far, the turrets had inflicted substantial harm on his droids, with the doughty B1H droids getting the worst of it. They were as implacable as their foes (if not quite as skilled), however, fighting, shooting and killing with practiced and drilled ease. They pushed forward relentlessly, using 'leapfrogging' tactics to cover each unit that moved, who would then cover another. Against most other foes, they'd be the equal of any organic soldier they faced. These, however, were Fett clones. Helix remembered all too well what they could do, and seen new examples of it today.

When one droid fell, its fellows would generally even try to drag it into cover, though not always successfully. In the case of hits by some of the larger weapons, there wasn't much left to retrieve. The skill gap, at least, was being somewhat thinned by the steady weakening of the enemy troops from the toxicity of the surrounding environment.

The remaining infiltrator droids spread out into smaller harassment fireteams. Those armed with Lamprey rifles began targeting the enemy marksmen where they could find them, launching barbed, bloodsucking munitions into the joints of clone armor. As the precision rifles produced no muzzle flare and little noise, it would be highly difficult to ascertain the source of the projectiles amidst the deafening cacophony of battle. Some turned their weapons instead onto the turrets or droidekas, disabling a few with precision ion charge munitions.

Helix listened to the incoming data carefully. It had been shaky there for a brief time, but he could adjust his tactics when needed.

"Take note." He said to his droids. "Victory is tenuous. We had it, then it was snatched away again. Our enemy is capable and dangerous. Do not underestimate them."

This was not the old army of the Confederacy, filled with mindless cannon fodder. He was losing more than his enemy, but that was simply an inevitability of attacking a dug-in enemy position. They were certainly better loss ratios than the old days, when he could expect to lose dozens of the original B1s for every clone KIA.

Still, it was a waste of good soldiers, on both sides. B1H droids were fairly inexpensive, but he despised waste, even in small amounts. Hopefully most of the remains were at least partly salvageable, but in the firestorm around them, he doubted it. He was beginning to wonder if he'd be salvageable himself, when all was said and done.

One day he would broach the topic of that gaudy green lightsabre. She may have been a strange Sith apprentice, but she was no Jedi... though he supposed, it would be obvious to anyone that knew her that she was no Jedi.

She was mad in a way far different than a Jedi.

Still, one day he would broach the topic.

One day she would corrupt that crystal.

But that would for another day, today, would be an opportunity to teach her another lesson entirely.

Gripping the beskar hilt with both hands, for one who so regularly used Makashi and failing that, Jar-Kai, adjusting to the use of a Sith sword rather than a lightsabre had been well... an adjustment.

Juyo had been the solution, one he had known well, but... well, was still new.

He breathed in softly, letting the air through his nostrils to his veins.

Within a flash, he was in front of his apprentice, feeling his muscles tense as he threw the full weight of the steel behind a swing, aimed to cleave her head, straight off.

All the while, flames billowed forth in their wake, rapidly burning hot from something orange, to white, to a pale blue, as his ring glowed in the relative darkness of the place they occupied.

He had learned from his early days as master with... with... her. He could not show mercy, he could not protect them, he could not coddle them. He had to do all that was possible, through his strength, to strengthen them. Even if... even if something within his heart feared ever truly hurting them.

His Guard quickly moved far from them, simply watching, some throwing cheers, others remaining in the helmed discipline.

And his Tsis'Kaar... well no one was meant to see them in the first place.

Her mind was always a bit of a mess. As she waited for her master's attack, Chat seemed to be excitedly waiting for the first attack.
Within a flash, he was in front of his apprentice, feeling his muscles tense as he threw the full weight of the steel behind a swing, aimed to cleave her head, straight off.

The girl brought her green blade up to meet the beskar saber-blade. She had designed the blade herself for her master, and now she had to fight against it. Part of her was tempted to-

No. That would be boring! No! She needed to be flashy!

She needed to be-

A flash of cryoban burst from her cybernetic hand, aimed at Malum's sword-wielding hands. She would freeze him to his blade, before going to punch him in the chest. Even delicate hands would be enough to do some damage. She wanted to show Malma she was strong!

The retaliation, as the clones expected, was swift, and vicious.

A hundred fell from the tank detonating itself on their Defensive line. 904 had ordered a retreat as best he could but even then he lost a lot of the turrets, a lot of the equipment and lot of his men just from the tank. The remaining turrets were focusing their fire on the heavier battle Droids, managing to melt through the legs at the joints but they were rapidly being swarmed, or consumed by the white hellfire destroying the swamp.

Actions echo across the Galaxy. And an old, old echo sounded across Dagobah.

An echo of the Clone Wars.

Engineered to be fearless, they remained orderly, those who could get away from the approaching hell doing so, though even in the seconds before they ran for their lives they still managed to snipe one or two. Others gave their lives conducting solo last stands dual wielding the rifles of their fallen comrades against hoardes of droids, killing more than a few, others killing scores of them before dissolving in white hot flames from the retaliation Commodore Helix Commodore Helix had ordered. The forest swamp was burning away, steam super cooking Clones alive in swamp water that evaporated from the fires raging across the swamps, killers gas and radiation unfathomably high in some pockets.

All the Clones, all the Clones were now sick from radiation poisoning. Some couldn't even stand but still spent their last moments shooting and destroying the occasional, lone and over confident H4X or a B1H squad.

One Clone, 808 staggered up with an Echani vibroblade, far enough from the white flames to be survivable. For a short time. Everything was sweltering heat and his insides were flame. He reckoned he had fifteen minutes to live before the heat or the radiation or the gas or the superheated steam killed him. Something would.

He had to buy himself a little extra time, if that was even possible. He staggered away from the encroaching wall of death and Droids and tanks.

A soft thud alerted him and he slowly turned behind him.

The H4X stared at him, a red line painted across a broken photoreceptor. It's armor was crumpled on one side. It's one remaining arm clutched it's vibrosword.

Droid and Clone stared at each other amidst encroaching heat, flames, and gas, the sounds of fighting still fierce in spite of Helix's devastating counter assault. The clones just would not give up. Even here, even now, whole platoons of droids were being given pause, even if it was only momentary, by stragglers in their immediate way. The Droids were still taking heavy losses in spite of all but routing the enemy.

"You will be dead soon from the radiation...not with the processing power to kill..." it assessed out loud, turning to walk away.

A pebble was tossed at it's head by 808. It stopped, still not looking at him.

"I didn't hear a bell, Commando." 808 growled.

The Droid turned to stare at the rapidly weakening Clone, who had removed his helmet, revealing the signs of Radiation burns.

"As you wish..." it said after a moment, pointing his sword at him.

"Soldier."

The pair circled each other. The heat rising steadily around them.

Droid and Clone stared at each other, both created for these very situations. Millions spent on the research and development of both.

Both damaged.

The pair approached slowly, blades held out to the other.

808 struggled to hold himself up. Struggled to breath. Every gasp was flame in his throat.

The H4X wobbled a bit. Audio Sensors and tracking data blinking on and off. Servos damaged by a grenade.

The Droid made 808 raise a scorched eyebrow by lightly running the edge of its sword in a diagonal manner across it's own chassis, inflicting a small, light gouge.

"Never thought I'd have to kill your kind again..." it said. (For ASHINA: 7000 XP)

"Happy to disappoint you." 808 replied.

They rushed each other, their swords sparking against each other as they dueled. 808 was on the defensive instantly, as he wasn't a trained duelist, forced back by the still powerful and precise blows of the Droid, which threatened to rip the Vibroblade out of 808's hands with each direct impact.

808, getting a burst of Adenaline, rushed the Droid, tackling it against a fallen tree trunk, and it struggled with him as they tried to keep their footing in the muddy bog around them before it forced him off and their blades clashed with violent sparks escaping the impacts of their weapons against each other. The poisonous blue fog grew closer but he forced himself to stay standing.

The Droid then retreated as a gust of quickly cooling steam wafted over them both. He vanished into the steam and 808 began hunting for him. He only came across the bodies of his dead brothers, burnt or dead from radiation.

No sign of the Droid. 808 moved cautiously.

The sword of the Droid swung out from the poisoned steam fog which 808 barely pulled back from to avoid decapitation, sent his adrenaline spiking as the Droid viciously attacked him in a flurry of strikes, driving him back, each effort to deflect hastening him to his demise a little faster.

The blade sliced into his side and he staggered back, clutching it as he retreated back, holding the blade towards the H4X.

"You have mere minutes to live, Clone. Even if you some how defeat me, you will fall soon after." the H4X said.

"I didn't come to this swamp to talk." 808 replied.

The Droid charged, and 808 flung the Vibroblade into the Droid's damaged photo receptor, piercing the Brain.

The Droid fell to the Clone's feet, inert.

808 staggered away from the fallen H4X walking back to the site of his slain brothers, breathing in agony.

He stared at them, and saluted.

A few moments later, he fell to the ground dead.

Meanwhile...

904 was down to two hundred clones. It was quickly turning into a final stand. Almost all of them were fatally irradiated, only the ones that had been the furthest of the defensive lines might survive if they fled into the temple or deeper into the swamp right now. But none would. They were not made for that.

Most of the Droidekas had fallen, some twenty five left still among the stragglers. Only two turrets still desperately held out close to the last of the defense lines, being pushed back relentlessly towards the base of the temple. Here the mines were thickest, and even with strafing attacks from above blowing a ton of them up, there were others, now concealed in trees, and in deeper, harder to reach dirt just from a strafing attack. Whole bundles of them along with small warheads to missiles from both their LAAT/i's and HAV tanks creating still massive explosions. The flames from the eruption of the tank had destroyed many of the trees.

Which backfired on the Droid forces.

The two stealth fighters that were still in the air decided to divide their attention, even though it might mean the death of the one still engaging the starfighters above.

One of the Jedi Pilots began strafing the ground repeatedly with their nose mounted disruptor cannons, eviscerating even the heaviest armor as whole platoons were destroyed, the Jedi Pilot within shredding into a line of one of the remaining tanks, evading anti air attacks with a quiet skill and retaliating as it began to whittle away the advantage of Helix's remaining artillery, shooting down more of his gunships in the process

"Oh-Four! We don't have a choice now. We have to deploy our final countermeasure!" 424 yelled over the Blasterfire, the clones still scoring headshots in the dozens before being cut down by return fire. One hundred fifty clones left.

An explosion in the air signalled the death of the Jedi Pilot still engaging the Droid Starfighters, leaving only the stealth equipped pilot still relentlessly attacking the Droid ground forces thanks to the clearing of the trees.

"Was our surveyor certain of the sensor readings?" 904 asked.

"Absolutely. Triple checked." 424 answered. "The remaining explosives have been buried at most of the vital points, deep in the swamp..."

"Strap the high explosive warheads on the Remaining Droidekas." 904 ordered. "And deploy every 11-3K Viper Probe Droid we brought. Launch all remaining artillery."

(THIS plays)

"Where's the damn evac ship?!" 424 yelled as he opened fire and downed a squad of Droids in the distance.

"Its taking a slow approach. It had to in order to reduce the chances of detection..." 904 answered. "Our only goal was to delay. Distract."

"You think the Boss ever intended for any of us to walk out of here alive?" 424 asked bitterly.

"We didn't have to take the Job Offer." 904 reminded him as he sniped an H4X in the distance.

"True..." 424 admitted as the remaining clones frantically worked on the remaining, now heavily damaged Droidekas, programming them for their target.

The Clones continued to fall, just as the Viper Droids rose in swarms around the swamp. One part of their last ditch attack. They had been strapped with as many small warheads, 40 mm grenade rounds, or droid busters as their repulsor lifts could carry. 70 in all. And they rocketed unsteadily at high speed at the largest remaining units, such as tanks.

At that instant the Clones unleashed the second part of their final countermeasure, triggering the single largest ground trap they had left, kept in the tightest defense line as the Clones retreated further back.

The trap raised a giant, buried fan of crudely fixed E-Web Turrets to a pre set, low point that would hit around the waist or slightly higher when the act of raising them and locking them in place also set off their firing mechanism. A massive swath of Blasterfire sang out red bolts repeatedly cutting down droids large and small just as the Viper Droids laden with explosives reached the largest remaining tanks.

The explosion of the droids created devastating shockwaves that destroyed everything in a seventy meter radius around them , smashing down platoons, gunships, the last of Droidekas rocketing through the sudden rip in lines, also laden with explosives, but their target was not any of the mechs.

Swamps produce organic gases naturally. Some quite volatile if pressurized or heated appropriately. The Clones had discovered a large enough pocket, but buried deep. There were reasons for where they had planted explosives that created that ravine that had stopped Helix Earlier. The volatile gasses trapped in one massive pocket in the swamp, connecting to multiple other veins and smaller pockets of condensed organic gasses were on the verge of mixing with the toxic gasses of the weapons Helix had unleashed, the ravine they had created having blasted just deep enough that a secondary explosion would surely unleash hellfire.

With so many of the droids committed to smashing the final pockets of Clone resistance they are uniquely concentrated on overwhelming the final defenders, whose carefully thought out strategy had delayed the Droids, made their commander focus on an aggressive response dedicated to smashing old ghosts.

The Droidekas rolled through smashed open droid lines of explosions at top speeds, laden with explosives crudely welded to their internal in a way that would not interfere with their rolling movement. If one or two were caught it made little difference, as the explosion created from destroying them was just as devastating if any Droids large or small were nearby. One hundred clones left. The last Stealth fighter crashed.

A shadow appeared above the whole of the battlefield at last as the Droidekas sped to their target and the final part of their last countermeasure went into play, Missile launchers scavenged from their transport tanks buried farther away launching dozens of payload missiles. Fifty clones left. Desperate acts of hand to hand combat were now being fully resorted to even as dozens of Plasma Missile Impacts lanced across scores and scores of droids and tanks, even managing to hit and down gunships in the air in a final, devastating all out salvo at the edge of the temple base, the Droidekas closer to the ravine as the Bacta-Works Cruiser Yoda's Lament finished decloaking, fully ready to transport Jedi Survivors out of the temple.

904 was dual wielding DC-15S carbines at the endless, seemingly on fire hoard, a pack of live warheads strapped to his back. Twenty clones left. He had ordered the ten who had a shot of surviving the poisoning to flee. They had been busy setting up more explosives in the temple at the base, avoiding any Sith who were already there. No enemy would be in the clear even after the Clones fell . 424 had gone down destroying so many droids the H4X units present literally had to dogpile him to finally kill him, and even then he had managed to kill four of them even as he was being by stabbed to death from all sides. Ten clones left, completely surrounded in flames and gas and radiation and droids firing outward.

Blaster shots lancing out. Five clones left. The mine field was completely detonated, sending multiple platoons into the big Droid Spa in the sky all around them.

"YOU WANT SOME?! HUH!? HUH?! I GOT SOME FOR YOU! AND YOU! AND YOU!" 904 screamed as he downed Droid after Droid after Droid around him, standing on a mound of destroyed B1H's, H4X's Some of Helix's Droidekas, and his own dead brothers, firing at everything around him. All other clones besides himself and the ones he had ordered to flee into the temple were dead.

"OH YOU WANT SOME TOO?! GET SOME! GET SOME! GET SOME!" 904 screamed, having gone absolutely berserk as scores of Droids continued to fall in a final rampage of Dual Wielding.

"NONE SHALL PASS!" he shouted as he concentrated his fire even as blaster bolts began to chew through his plastoid.

"NONE SHALL PASS!"

The warheads he was carrying detonated, send a powerful mushroom cloud type explosion that obliterated every Droid in a fifty meter radius just as the Droidekas reached the ravine, not having to climb the remains of the Kill box that had been sprang earlier due to the trunks having nice big holes. Only ten had made it.

Ten would be enough as they all willingly went tumbling into the ravine.

The detonation from within as the explosives were remotely set off by the last fleeing clones, escaping through the temple itself, made the entire swamp around the temple shudder.

Jet's of powerful gas mixing with the poison in the air created a volatile underground detonation that sent a shockwave through the swamp, followed by Pillar's of flame erupting everywhere, blasting apart B2H units, catching Droid Gunships directly under the blast, wiping away columns of Droids both near and far, half the swamp around the temple now a huge inferno that spared nothing organic or inorganic as raging fires and earth quakes and even larger pits were created...

The Clone Defense Troopers had fallen almost to a man. But what remained of Helix's army?

If there was one thing that his time with the CIS had taught him that he didn't already know, it was when to just shabla quit. Withdraw, and live to fight another day. It wasn't that he wasn't aware of the concept, but before fighting under the Confederacy's banner he'd never encountered so many world ending threats in a single week, let alone a single month. Not like the galaxy had eased up after, but sure as haran it hadn't exactly raised the stakes and for that he was grateful.

He could get the civilians out, what few were present that was, but there was nothing he could about the surviving members of the Trade League's central government if no one else hadn't extracted them by now. If they were resisting, it was because they were just going through the motions. No one could help them now, not without a shabla miracle. Truth was, however, whichever way this ended they died. If Ruus snapped up his weapon the moment the civilians were safely across and engaged Gerwald while giving the order to push forward or accepted the way things were shaping up to be, it made no real difference. The only difference was how many of his men would die in a pointless gesture that would not affect the outcome.

"Deal," he said at last. "Ke'gyce 6 to all callsigns, watch your fire, civilians crossing," he said over the command frequency before terminating the link. Acknowledgement signals flashed in his HUD, his battalion commanders and 2IC knowing that one way or another, he was preoccupied. He glanced past his old friend at the desperate mass of civilians and waved them over. The tide of injured, shell shocked, desperate civilians came streaming toward him. Give them beskar'gam and heavier weapons and the scene could have been unfolding on Breshig. It could have been Naboo.

The civilians had crossed for a while before his comms came to life again, "So did you finish it?" It was Mirta. Involuntarily he glanced back at Gerwarld again, helmeted head moving only slightly thanks to high field of view afforded to him by his HUD. In a way it was. There was no going back. He'd traded finality for a lighter conscience, or that was at least what he was telling himself. Had he just delayed the inevitable? He had no shabla clue.

"Came to an agreement," he whispered back over the command frequency. "My turn to hold up my end of the bargain. Have your men pull back from the capital building, wide berth, I'm ending this the best way for us both." As he watched the last few groups of civilians cross over from 'no-man's land' to their lines, he raised the Darasuum Morut. There was a noticeable delay before his HUD informed him that the connection was established. "Morut, this is Ke'gyce 6, requesting fire support at the following coordinates." Ruus quickly blink-clicked his way through his HUD, transmitting the coordinates for the capital building up to the Morut.

There was a long pause before his cousin's voice answered him, "Are you sure you know what you're asking for, vod?" Nyles wasn't asking because he thought Ruus had got the coordinates wrong, but he was asking because he knew that this would put an end to any reason to hold the space port any longer, and that was going to change the orbital situation significantly. Ruus didn't verbally respond, he just flashed back an acknowledgement signal. "I shabla hope for both our sakes that you're right. Missiles away. K'oyayci, vod."

"Vor'e, vod," he whispered back and then terminated the connection. The Tra'ragir-class Assault Brilliant Missiles that the Morut had launched were fast, there likely wasn't too much more time before the missile struck. Probably just enough for the Dar'jetii to disengage and withdraw to a safe distance. Ruus looked at Gerwald, tried to meet his gaze and with a sigh said what had been on his mind ever since he realized this was the situation the now found themselves in, "Whatever is was, old friend, I hope it was worth it. Maybe one day you'll tell me."

There was nothing smug or amused about the expression on Valery's face anymore, as her barrage of attacks forced Darth Strosius Darth Strosius on the defensive. She had made her remarks and tempted the two of them into lashing out, but now she was in a state of pure focus. Each attack was precise and driven by strength and speed, meant to overwhelm and force the Sith Lord to crumble while he stood separated from his temporary ally.

But he wasn't the Sith she had fought last time anymore.

Darth Strosius had changed, not just in strength, but in willpower as well. He met her attacks with determination and kept her at bay despite the momentary loss of balance. Slowly but surely, it forced a more cautious approach from the Jedi Master — she had lost the advantage she created, and she needed to be focused on the other Sith as well. From the corners of her eyes, she noticed an object thrown her way. She took a step aside to evade and disengaged from Strosius, only to hear the weapon carve through metal behind her.

She felt danger in the Force, right as Strosius pressured her again.

Without moving a hand or turning her head, Valery extended her will telekinetically, and forced the lamppost to freeze before it could fall on top of her. But in that moment of focus, a thrust from the Sith in front of her slipped past her defenses, and cut into her left side with the very tip. Valery hissed at the pain, and extended a hand to send a wave of Force energy between the two in an attempt to drive him back.

The lamp post behind her crackled as electrical wires were severed, and with a sudden burst of speed, Valery flung it around her own body and aimed it at Strosius.

The other Sith in the back was going to be up next.

Trusting Nathan Bloodscrawl Nathan Bloodscrawl right now was one of the hardest things he’d ever done, but the man was like a brother to him and had more than proven himself to be a true ally. The opportunity to turn on Elias, on the Jedi Order or the people of the League, had been there for him on a silver platter a dozen times over, but Nathan never jumped. That had to mean something today, when all the logic in the world screamed that Nathan was a threat.

I-“ Elias struggled. “I believe you. And I trust you…

He turned his gaze to the arc of missiles trailing across the sky, wincing as they collided with the marshlands surrounding them. Such wanton destruction felt like a hot knife in his chest. He looked back to Nathan with resolve.

… we’ve got to find the younglings.

Elias searched for them in the Force, but there was too much background noise to find singular traces of their presence. Dagobah was practically alive with Force energies, all singing and humming in an endless chorus of the Light; today, she was in agony. It was impossible to hear anything over the death throes of a planet and its biosphere being scorched by the Sith.

Have you tried the archives or the greenhouses yet? There’s a few good places to hide in both. The Padawans know well where to go if- when this happens.
