Public Doctors With Some Borders

Onderon was a lovely planet Darius thought. He had not yet grown accustomed to the sheer volume of greenery in the galaxy since his departure from the Home Fleet, and seeing oceans for the first time had been a worrying prospect. Slowly though he had started to warm to the things he was seeing and experiencing and had even begun letting down the small barrier of force energy he maintained around his head at almost all times for short periods of time. Such actions usually forced him to spend several days afterward healing himself from his body's aggressive reactions to the unknown worlds, but Darius considered the trade-off to be worth it. It allowed him to live, and not just exist in this galaxy as he had done for so long before. He would not give that up lightly.

The sound of laughter drew his attention away from the landscape of Onderon. Glancing down, Darius watched as several young children ran through an open field filled with bright yellow plants. Their carefree nature and outgoing nature brought a small smile to Darius's face. When they spotted Darius coming over the hill near them, wearing long brown robes and carrying two large bags in his hands, they came running towards him, smiles and laughter circling Darius as they began tugging at his robes, leading him towards their village a short distance away. The willingness for other species to accept Darius had been shocking, at first, though unlike his own people, the rest of the galaxy was accustomed to aliens.

He crushed the thought for the moment as the children led him into their small farming village. Many of the adults glanced up at Darius as he entered their village, some nodding to him as he set down his bags against one of the nearest huts. Darius had not come to Onderon for simple sightseeing sadly, and he had not come alone. After departing from his people, Darius had found his way into the Order of the Silver Jedi, an organization of force users that seemed to have a focus on individual freedom, helping others, and a general disdain for authoritative leaders. All of these concepts appealed to Darius, and he had joined with them. This mission was to be his first among their ranks as a Jedi, a term he was still unsure about. To him, it was just a title, similar to Kane, a healer among his own people, but to others, it held immense weight and importance. Darius hoped that he would live up to the expectations it carried.

The mission to Onderon was focused on curbing the rise of a local pathogen that had begun to spring up in some of the outlining farming settlements. The local government had requested the aid of the Order to help tackle the worst cases in the rural areas of their world while they focused their efforts in the urbanized capitals. Pulling out some supplies from his bags, Darius entered a nearby hut marked with a large red X, finding two young children laying a mat, sweat covering their bodies and a strange color in their fingers. Darius nodded to their parents standing on the other side of the hut, crouching down beside the children and reaching out with the Force, feeling their conditions and beginning the process of halting the infection. He made sure to blink several times as he worked, and smiled at the children briefly as he handed each of them small candies he had found in one of the cities on the planet.

"Everything will be alright now. The Jedi will take care of you."

News of the healer who had arrived spread fast, word -of- mouth leaping from village to village as communication told of a brave Jedi who was here to fight the diseases.

The presence of this Jedi, Darius, brought hope to the villages that had been plagued by the strange illness. But the Jedi's presence also brought forth another energy - a presence that could be quite terrifying to those who were force sensitive.

A ruckus could soon be heard outside of the hut that housed the sick children and Darius. There were only a few in this village who were force sensitive - and none who were powerful enough to fight the spread of the plague as Darius was. So they placed their entire collective hope in this Jedi to save them from this unseen menace. They hadn't the skill or knowledge in the force to fight this plague, but they did have the ability to sense the approach of an imposing and terrifying presence - a hole in the force.

The commotion only seemed to grow as a unique sensation within the force would approach the hut. It could immediately be understood why this presence was feared by those with force sensitivity - it felt like an orb of inexistence, like an actual tear in the force was hovering slowly closer and closer to the hut. The globe of nullification managed its way to the hut door, the voices of superstitious protest only growing as the unusual being stepped closer to the tent, entirely unwelcome by the villagers. They dared not attack him though, feeling (thankfully) superstitiously as though they might bring about the end of their village by attacking such an entity.

From the sensations one would likely feel in the force, it could easily be expected that some horrible dark energy was about to step through that door, intent on destroying the Jedi, the children and all other life on this planet. Such was the misunderstood nature of his existence - so when the actual creature that was connected to this wound in the force would be seen it would likely be a surprise.

It was a small unimposing ivory-furred cathar child, likely 10 years old or so, his soft blue eyes wide with caution and concern as they first took in the sight of the Jedi and the sick younglings that were nearby.

The cathar boy seemed strangely unafraid of the plague, and there was a surprising empathy in his eyes that hinted to a heart of good, despite the looming presence of his aura where the force seemed to simply fade into nothing, centered on his position. The cathar boy was small, lithe, and actually seemed somewhat intimidated by the shouting villagers outside who opposed his presence here. It was understandible that they may think he was the cause of the plague, a mistake he hoped they may realize in time.

He was quite aware of his own "event horizon" of force nullification, and made sure to maintain enough distance between he and the Jedi as to not interfere with the healing. Those that opposed his presence dared not enter the hut after him, knowing they would risk death of the plague. So why did this small cathar risk such exposure? Not only did he lack a protective mask or medical equipment - he had no clothing or equipment of any sort. It was simply him - nothing else, as though the force itself had pulled him into existence here in these jungles.

He was thin, and small - certainly not a physical threat. His lack of protective gear made him seem more like a harbinger of the plague to the villagers, though his unique nature had actually proven useful, the plague unable to take seat in his unique physiological and force-nullifying existence. It seemed he had a natural immunity because of his unique nature, though to the superstitious villages it simply made him seem that much more dangerous.

"My name's Chaca...I don't mean any harm, please keep healing them"

The small boy said, his voice trembling ever so slightly as he lowered to his knees at the corner of the hut to make it clear he wasn't here to cause harm or interfere. He wasn't big or strong, the Jedi could easily strike the cathar child down if he chose to.

"I feel the force brought me here to help you. I know of others nearby who are sick... I can lead you to them, and help you in any way you need to bring healing to this place. Please let me help save lives"

Chaca knew that there was likely suspicion, after all his intentions couldn't be detected as light side or dark side energy - Chaca could only prove his intent through his actions. There was empathy and compassion in that deep sapphire gaze, and he only hoped that the Jedi would allow him to help stop this devastating plague.

From above, a ship arrived-- a small mobile hospital that unfortunately did not crash into the ground, but arrived spectacularly all the same. The hull shined bright into the eyes of the people below. Sometimes medicine could do more than the force was able. For that, bacta tanks had been sequestered for the most grievously ill.

Elise did not fear for her own life as she touched down, the force had urged her here and so she had come. The landing strip was merely a patch of reeds blowing in the wind. She walked through it, a bag of supplies at her side, as several worked began to unload donations for the ill and needing.

Darius had sensed the inexistence approaching, his eyes narrowing slightly before he continued his work on the sick children. He could sense the growing concern and discomfort from the people of the village, though Darius pushed their thoughts from his mind for the time being. As the children chewed idly on the candies Darius's had provided, he raised his right hand, closing his eyes and focusing on the virus inside their bodies. The problem with the current virus was that it spread so rapidly within a subject's body that someone could become infected in the morning, and that same night they could be deathly ill.

Darius focused his efforts on finding the virus within the children's bodies, and slowly began to slow them down. He did not wish to risk removing it entirely, at the risk of the children becoming reinfected, but if he could slow down the viruses spread long enough for standard medicine to take effect, then they would eventually recover, and hopefully have an immunity to the virus. Completely eradicating a virus inside a patient's body was something Darius had seen other Jedi healers doing, and he had made a mental note to bring up the subject with them.

After several minutes of focus, Darius lowered his hand, satisfied with what he had done so far. As he opened his eyes, he was pleased to see some of the color returning to the children's skin. Turning, he grabbed some of the vials and injections he had brought into the hut with him, cleaning two entry points on the children's arms before injecting the medicine he had brought with him from further in the Orders space. Pushing himself to his feet, Darius turned to face the entrance of the hut just as Chaca Chaca entered, looking the child over briefly. Finally, Darius nodded his head, bowing it briefly to the child.

"Your assistance in this matter would be appreciated, child Chaca. If you will give some time, I need to deal with the rest of this village." As he spoke Darius turned to face the parents of the children, pulling out two more needles, asking for their permission briefly before giving them the same antidote as their children. Darius had sensed the sickness in them as well, but it was not nearly as widespread, and simple injections of the antidote would do.

The sound of a ship descending nearby led Darius out of the hut, taking a path that kept him a few feet away from the child. He did not suspect any evil intentions from him, but he could not allow his senses to be hindered at this crucial stage in fighting the sickness. Stepping out of the hut, the long brown robe Darius wore suddenly billowed around him, revealing simple black and grey clothing beneath. At his hip as well was his lightsaber, recently crafted with aid from others in the Order. He was not accustomed to carrying weapons, but it seemed to actually put others at ease seeing the weapon of a Jedi. As the ship touched down, Darius reached down to straighten his robes before stepping out across the village, heading towards the ship.

He passed the workers beginning to unload the supplies from the craft, glancing at their contents briefly before turning his attention to the woman walking down the ramp. Darius bowed his head to her in greeting, his hands held casually at his side. "Welcome to Onderon, friend Jedi. I am glad to see you here, your assistance will be of immense help to the people of this world."

A sense of relief could be noticed on the young boy's visage when the Jedi confirmed that he would appreciate the help. Chaca could never be certain at first how a force user would respond to him, and the kind words actually managed to put a smile on the boy's face.

"Thank you, master. I'll help in any way I can. These forests are rich in herbs and natural remedies. If something is needed I would be happy to retrieve it for you.."

The word "master" didn't denote the Jedi's rank of course, it was more a means of the small cathar boy addressing the Jedi respectfully, being that he wasn't aware yet of his name, or how to address him otherwise.

The small felinesque cub watched as the man worked his healing skills on both of the sick children. His gaze widened a little as their skin began to regain its color, that smile finding its way to Chaca again. The Jedi was certainly gifted, and it now was becoming clear that the sick were in the right hands with Darius

Chaca followed along behind Darius like a little assistant, though he too made sure to keep enough distance from Darius to keep from affecting his force abilities. Chaca was quite aware of his own nature, and did his best to keep it from hindering the task at hand.

Many of the villagers stared somewhat wide-eyed at Chaca as he followed Darius, now realizing that the peculiar anomaly in the force wasn't necessarily a threat or a foreboding of doom, they could see that he was doing his best to assist Darius in his relief efforts.

Whispers would be heard, but otherwise the tensions and distrust in Chaca seemed to subside in the villagers now as they saw that the child was simply trying to help.

The boy squinted a bit at the sight of the ship as they approached, the gleam of the hull making his bright ivory form shine at just the right angle.

Stopping far enough from Darius as he greeted the newcomer, the small cathar child offered her his own little bow and smile of greeting, though the smile held its hints of worry as their job of saving these people had only just begun. There were a lot of sick, and only so much time to get to them all

Making haste, Chaca actually moved around Darius and Elise, making sure to maintain enough distance from them in passing to keep them out of his nullification field.

Chaca lifted a few of the smaller lighter containers, hastily helping unload them with the others who were working diligently to provide relief. He was small and not overly strong, he couldn't handle the large containers on his own, but he would grab and unload any of those he could manage.

"It's spreading fast ... How can we slow it down?"

Chaca gently asked after moving a few containers, his eyes glancing between Darius and Elise.

Elise nodded at them both, a glance over her shoulder spared for the presence of Ura Iolar Ura Iolar . “Thank you, I’m sure these supplies will be of use. Have you sent out quarantine orders yet? Sent the healthy into their homes and gathered the ill in a secure area?” Her words were calm, but to the point.

Elise was not one for politics, and she as gentle as she was protective. And today, she was protecting the ill.

A wave of her hand directed another set of workers in— escorts with sick beds and emergency supplies.

“I think it’s best we bring the ill onboard. Ask the villages to keep to themselves until the spread has stopped. What have you experienced, Jedi...” She left space for his name.

Ura followed behind Elise , giving the master a simple nod as she followed. The Lervon had volunteered to help with this illness in part because it really couldn't affect her. While the sandy padawan had started helping move some supplies, she stopped when she saw the when she first saw Darius Ino'Kane Darius Ino'Kane and Chaca Chaca . Ura was an odd being to begin with, but she'd noticed something... different about his. Ura almost flowed from the box to stand next to the Elise. She stayed quiet though, waiting for orders on what to do.

Ok...first assignment...ho boy...

Onderon was a different beast compared to Kashyyk, all oranges, and browns instead of greens and blues and...well, browns, but the point was there all the same. Karra had stepped off the transport not too long ago, her temperamental companions letting out happy noises when they were free of the cramped confinement.
"Ok, so the villages nearby are suffering from a plague of some kind, it's up to us to figure things out, staunch the spread, and save the people, sound good?" She asked, looking down to her friends.

"...Gonk Gonk"

She couldn't suppress a breathy chuckle at the walking piece of junk, lightly kicking it before reaching up and stroking the Lothcat perched on top of him. "What about you? You worried too?" Floof just purred against her hand, blissfully ignorant of the situation at hand. In her years of existence, she had never been as grateful to the Force as she was now for giving these two to her, they kept her level in times of tribulation. Karra turned and began the long walk to the village, her walking staff tapping along the ground as she did so.

Upon reaching the village, she quickly raised her hood and made her way to the strongest force signature she could feel around, coming to a marked home just as, presumably, her fellow healer and contact, stepped out. "Darius, right? Karra, here to help."

"Darius Ino'Kane, Master Jedi. The virus seems to be a strange combination of several different specific viruses that have formed into a single, stronger variant. I believe that isolation and neglect of rural areas of this world by the wider government led to the development and spread of the virus. Medicine is scarce in the villages I have visited so far, and medical teams from the urban metropolises are being held there in case this virus spreads to the cities. However, there have been no recorded cases that I am aware of." Darius paused in his explanation as another Jedi approached the group. Upon the greeting of Karra Tor Karra Tor to himself in particular, and he inclined his head in greeting and acknowledgment, he turned to answer the questions of the others present all at once.

"Bringing the ill onboard your vessel is a prudent decision, Master Jedi, but there will likely not be enough beds for everyone that is infected in this region. Confining the families within their homes should be sufficient for the more mild cases, and we can focus all of the dangerous patients onto the ship where we can help them easier. The biggest problem we are facing with this spread of this virus is the arrival of the est season. Farmers are traveling from one village to another to bring their goods, and they could be carriers of the virus without even knowing it, spreading it to everyone they come in contact with. I did not have the resources or authority to institute policies needed to contain the problem, but now that you are all here, we can get to it." Turning away from the group, Darius waved for a nearby man to come forward.

The man was clearly sick, with sweat trickling down his face and his clothing stained through in many places. Red veins could clearly be seen beneath his almost see-through skin, and Darius helped him sit down on a nearby crate. "The infection spreads too quickly for conventional medicine to fight on its own. The best solution is to use our own abilities to slow the spread of the virus. Weaken it, slow it down, and isolate it within the body. Once that is accomplished, medicine will be able to handle the rest." Darius lifted his hand over the man's chest, showing the others the process he was using. They would be able to feel the concentrated tendrils of force energy being used by the Ulnoll Jedi, appearing almost needle-like as they poked into the man's body. After several minutes of concentration, Darius lowered his hand, letting out a deep breath before administrating the man medicine from a syringe.

Rising back to his feet, Darius turned to the other Jedi and Chaca Chaca as he put the syringe back into the bag he was carrying. "It is not a difficult process, but it does take time and focus. The slightest slip of concentration could prove hazardous to the patient. Now, Chaca here has said he knows where we can find more people in need. I suggest we divide up into teams. Some of us should focus on beginning a quarantine of the region and establishing medical facilities, the others can go with Chaca to try and head the infection off directly before it can spread further."

Chaca continued to unload supplies, doing his best to be of what help he could during these troubling times. The others who were unloading supplies gave the small anomalous boy some very strange and uncertain looks, most of them force-sensitive enough to detect the small cathar's strange nature.

One Jedi trainee passed a little too close to Chaca, actually dropping his shipping container in surprise as the force slipped away from him - briefly...but long enough to startle the padawan. Seeing the shocked look on the the Jedi's face, Chaca quickly backpedalled until the force-user was out of his area of effect. The boy offered the most sincere smile he could, shaking his head apologetically.

The padawan seemed compelled to try his force abilities the moment he was away from Chaca, as though to confirm that he wasn't permanently damaged in any way. With a bit of effort, the padawan lifted the container back up into his hands using the force, uncertainty in his eyes as he glared at Chaca. The young cathar stammered a little in his apologies

"I-I'm sorry, I'll try to be more careful"

The force user returned to what he was doing, passing Chaca with enough of a birth to keep from getting caught in the cathar's "field" again.

Chaca soon returned to Darius's side, as he was speaking to Elise, Ura and Karra, who had arrived while he was unloading supplies.

His eyes couldnt help but find Ura first, possibly the most unusual being present (aside from himself perhaps). His eyes didn't hold the type of judgement that he would often experience when others gazed upon him suspiciously, instead it seemed like the young cathar was quite intrigued by Ura. He remained silent though, simply offering a smile of greeting to each of them as the leaders spoke of what plans would be put into action.

Chaca paid close attention as Darius demonstrated what he had learned on a heavily infected man, doing his best to remember what he was being taught. Because of his unique nature, Chaca would never be able to summon the force in such a way, but he could at least spread this useful information to anyone who was able to perform the task.

Chaca finally nodded gently as Darius spoke of his role, understanding the importance of containing the virus. Glancing between the Jedi around him, the boy spoke quickly, making sure to pass what he knew along to the others.

"There are two villages close to here. The first one is named Kiwa and is just southwest, probably around 100 villagers. They are friendly, but they have been hysterical there because of the virus"

Chaca pointed to the southwest, motioning to the location he spoke of before going into detail about the second village.

"The other one, northeast of here, is called Bo'e Iko-du. Its bigger, maybe close to 400 living th-"

Chaca's words trailed off as his sapphire gaze scanned over the horizon until he was looking northeast. Slowly, the boy's gentle sapphire eyes widened, his mouth falling open as he took in a trembled gasp. His ears lowered and his tail drooped in fear as his mind tried to process what he was seeing

From that direction, smoke was starting to billow into the sky, a thick black smog that could only mean one thing - uncontrolled fire.

"S-somethings wrong. There shouldn't be that much smoke coming from the village. 'Specially on a warm day like today"

Elise took in the accounts and reports, listening amicably to him speak over plans and concepts. She observed his method of healing, noting his techniques as the force ebbed and waned through the man. Interesting. She could apply that, but it would do no good if the person's body could not heal itself afterwards.

This was going to be a long day.

The new arrivals received nods of greeting from her, the woman quiet until the smoke was pointed out in the distant horizon. Her brows pulled in, concern bursting in her chest.

"A pyre, maybe?" But she knew it wasn't so. The stack was too far and too thick to be from something so small. It was more likely a mass grave.

Or a burning village.

She stepped forward immediately, gesturing to Ura. "The speeders."

"Thank you, Darius. I will apply these techniques myself. That village needs aid, should you wish to stay I can leave you my men. Otherwise--" Well it was clear she intended to help those out there.

Amani had only just begun to lumber out of the transport herself, lugging a large container of supplies towards the ramp. She tried to carry it with the Force, but she accidentally dropped it shortly after trying to do so, losing concentration and causing things to tumble out onto the floor. Not a great start to her first day in the field in a medical role. She opted to just carry it the rest of the way, to be on the safe side.

"Hey, uh, could I get a little help?" Amani awkwardly stumbled on, the container nearly blocking her vision, forcing her to crane her neck past it to see what was going on. Already there was clearly something going on. She saw others point towards the column of smoke, and people beginning to shuffle around.

"What's happening? Are people leaving already?" She wasn't evens sure if they could hear her up the ramp, with a big container smushed against her face. Determined not to be left out, Amani put it down at the ledge and made her way to the other Jedi. She was already pretty overwhelmed by everything, and missing out on whatever was being said wouldn't help. She needs this opportunity. It was Amani's dream to help people like this, and she needs to prove she has what it takes to be a proper healer.

"Is that something we should be worried about?" Amani pointed to the smoke, uncertain of its meaning, but based on the expressions of those around her, that alone likely answered her question.

While Ura had noticed Chaca Chaca looking at her, Elise quickly got her attention when she gestured to the Lervon, and noted the speeders. Ura nodded and quickly began to get one ready before seeing Amani Serys Amani Serys , and hearing her ask if the smoke was something to worry about. Ura looked at the firing, shaking her head.

"I don't know. Me and Master Elise are going to look, but that one there seems to think it's trouble."

Karra walked over to Darius and knelt beside him, placing her staff on the ground and putting a hand on the patient's arm. The veins were pure crimson, not pulsing or glowing though, just discolored beneath the skin. It spread quickly if the village was any indication, and the symptomatic were isolating themselves. She silently thanked The Force for that, too many people panicked or went into hysterics when plagues and viral outbreaks came to them - it made their job easier when they actually listened to medical advice. Not that no one hadn't listened to her, it was just that people had a broad reputation of ignoring experts and relying on themselves when that was one of the worst things you could do, we were all in it together, weren't we?

A deep breath flowed from her mouth as she closed her eyes and opened her thoughts, The Force flowing in and out, ebbing and weaving through the area all around them. Their patient felt so cold in body, and even worse in mind, his being was...polluted, to try and describe it. The poison was like a parasite, clinging to nerves and organs with fierce hunger, ushering him ever closer to the embrace of The Cosmic Force, and all throughout, she could feel his fear radiating off of him in waves. It broke her heart to feel someone so afraid, guilt swelled in her belly when she thought of all the people that died beforehand like this, and they didn't have Jedi to save them. Still, she took some comfort in the fact that they were here now, and not a moment too soon either. Already she could feel the tendrils of The Force flowing from her fellow Jedi's fingertips and seeping into his body, gathering up the sickness and dragging it all together into a helpless mass and grinding it down into almost nothing.

The medicine would help him heal, but he was only the first of many that would need this kind of treatment. Opening her eyes, a little light-headed from that experience, Karra shook it off and stood up before everyone drew her attention to the column of smoke.
"That doesn't look good," She murmured to herself. Master Elise was quick to suggest they head there, and Karra made to join them when a low honking noise dragged her attention back to the black trash can.
"Gonk," He said, stamping his little feet on the ground before turning towards the medical ship. The meaning was pretty clear, even if she didn't particularly want to acknowledge it. Elise and her fellow padawan were going to go look, see what was happening, but this village needed care too. She was good with logistics, or competent at least, she was more help here. She sighed, annoyed, and turned back to the Jedi. "I'll stay and get everything set up here, I need two others to help so it would be best if we split up, 3 on 3, just like triage, right?"

Once, when Siv was little, his parents had told him the tale of the great Mandalorian Purge. An evil Empire had come one day and had razed their beautiful homeworld, killing the proud warriors trying to defend their people, taking away all that was theirs by birthright. They had said that the Purge had been long ago, and now Mandalore was impregnable; that little Siv did not need to worry for his people or planet. Yet here the Mandalorian was now, and another Empire had done exactly what that old Empire had done so long ago. For all of its negatives, there were small benefits to having your entire homeworld slaughtered, such as putting setting a village on fire into perspective.

When the Sith Empire had posted on the boards, putting a two-hundred-thousand credit bounty on the head of any Jedi, with a special ten-million reward for a certain cadre of Jedi Masters and figures, Siv had found himself with conflicted feelings. On one head, ten-million credits was a lot of cash, one that could put him into early retirement. On the other hand, he would be accepting money from the hand that had killed his clan, his people, and taken his homeworld away from him. But that eternal conflict hadn't lasted long, and now he found himself on the disease-ridden world of Onderon, crouching on the roof of a village hut as his macrobinoculars watched the horizon for the telltale signs of incoming speeder bikes.

Siv's plan had been simple when one really thought about it; he'd set the village on fire, using a quick homemade incendiary mix to set the wooden village buildings into an inferno. He hadn't deliberately killed any civilians, but if any died he supposed the blame rested on them and their stupidity. The rest were currently doing their best to put out the fires, a futile effort given the intensity of the flame that Siv's concoction had made. The others had seemed to devolve into a full-on panic, and that only made it easier for Siv and his companions to hide, nearly in plain sight. Once the Jedi arrived onto the scene, it would be the job of Siv and his two fellow Hunters to capture as many as possible, haul them aboard the
Blood Eclipse, and take quick hyperjump over to Bastion to collect the reward. The only slight complication was that they would be facing a cadre of Jedi, but Siv was confident of his abilities against the force users; he just hoped that his fellow Hunters possessed the same skills, or they might end up on the wrong side of a lightsaber.

But then again, that would only mean a larger share for himself.

Zivos had tagged along, thinking the bounty a bit large for one person to attempt. Never mind on a jedi. His gas idea would have to be put on hold considering the oxygen breathers were already wearing rebreathers. He would have to figure out if there was a way to clog the filters on the blasted devices or if he would just have to be a fracken fine shot to not harm the target. A problem for another time however as he watched the flames pick up.

The chaos of the populace running around didn't bother him so much. He'd been to his planet a number of times in his older years, and heard the stories that everyone there had made sure to assail him with about the prestigious Jedi not stopping their people from being irradiated for the rest of forever. Solidifying a small feeling of animosity that was so rightfully attributed to his species from birth to the grave. The empire placing a bounty on Jedi only made the hunting of such targets easier. At the very least profitable.

The blaster armor he wore over his environment suit kept any sharp or pointy things from piercing the precious atmosphere he existed in. The blaster wouldn't be enough to bring down a jedi considering they were masters, but pointing it towards innocents might have made Jedi think twice about attacking at the very least. He watched, his scanner filtering out the populace from the targets he was waiting for, his position outside a hut on the outskirts shielded from the flames.

There was something inherently wrong with lighting a village on fire. Vallaro was fully aware of what he was doing as he used Siv’s concoction to ignite the last remaining homes, but he knew that the necessity outweighed any moral issues he might have with the situation. From a tactical perspective, the plan was sound. The burning village provided a lure to draw the Jedi towards them and the raw shock value to potentially disruption morale, an essential tool when hunting a Jedi, or in this case a group of them. But there was one more thing he needed to do for the plan to be perfect. He set about his final task as the smoke rose and gathered forming a collum that could be seen all the way out to the horizon.

“Give me a holler when you see 'em,” he shouted over to his companions who were already on the lookout for the any approaching persons. “and remember, I’ve laid a few
hydra mines around the town. Their set to low so they won’t kill ya, but it’ll hurt like hell until a Jedi does.” Vallaro pulled a cigarra from his pocket and light it with the building he’d just ignited. Taking a long drag he adjusted his rig once more and made sure everything was tight. “One more time eh?” he murmured to himself as he became fully absorbed in the situation. The sounds of chaos faded into background noise in his mind as he cleared his mind in preparation for what was to come.

Siv's plan was a simple one. Now all that was left was the execution. Vallaro’s military training took over and he could feel his senses expanding as he took a tally of the situation. He trusted his own preparedness in fighting force users and could only hope that his allies were just as ready. He knew he’d need to pull no punches to take in a bounty this large, not even sparing civilians if the situation called for it. Ten million was an obscene number of credits even when split four ways. With that much money, he might be able to call it quits and go retire. A smirk formed on his lips.

“Yeah, like I’d ever quit doing this!”

It wasn't Cassus' idea to burn the village. Typically, the boy attempted a more discrete approach. A messenger with an important message, an officer of the law, just a random pool boy in the same hotel. For the most part, he had been successful in these endeavors, but they were prone to falling apart and could leave him vulnerable if he isn't ready to adapt.

This time though, the reward was too bold to be timid or cautious. Direct confrontation with only the best of his mother's technology could lend to credible results. That was the thought anyway. This was not to say that direct confrontation with a Jedi would be easy, even with their numbers and the surprise of one danger forming into another for the Jedi. The deception was key, but if it failed and Cassus wasn't able to gain the upper hand, he was prepared to flee at all speed. The Bounty Code was very clear in this matter:

1. A Bounty is not worth certain death
2. Bounties are never too dangerous to be hunted
3. Guild Hunters shall not slay other Guild Hunters, or take Bounties on them
4. Sabotage of another Guild Hunters Bounty will not be tolerated while in their custody
5. Guild Hunters are expected to lend aid to other Guild Hunters
6. Guild Hunters shall respect the terms of the Contract
7. The Guild is first, the Bounty is second

In at least two cases there was leeway for a hunter to flee from a failed Bounty if things went sideways. Which was why Cassus was already prepared for this scenario situated on top of his Speeder Bike just a ways away from the smoking pillar of the burning village, waiting for the right moment to strike. The amount of equipment on him weighed on him heavily, but all of it could be necessary. The Bounty Hunter child held the village in the sites of his rifle.

"I'll keep an eye out, thanks for the warning." Cassus said into his communicator in response to the mines.

Elise nodded to Karra Tor Karra Tor , accepting the padawan's Suggestion that she go with Amani Serys Amani Serys and Ura Iolar Ura Iolar both, so long as they were both willing. Master Darius had yet to express any verbal protests, so she took his silence as acceptance. The village here was infected as well, of course it made sense for many of them to remain here and help.

"You two together then," She told Amani Serys Amani Serys and Ura Iolar Ura Iolar , the master moving briskly to take the crate from Amani's arms and put it right. What supplies they could fit, she packed into both speeders. A bad feeling sat in her gut, the future muddy and tricky to understand. Death loomed on the horizon, along with... danger...

A glance up at the large smoke stack urged her on, then woman kicking both legs over a speeder and glancing back at those that gathered.

"Shall we?"

Amani felt conflicted. She didn't feel right leaving the sick, but knowing that others might be in trouble tugged at her as well. The more she though about it her head hurt; The whole situation seemed to have something rotten pervading it. She shook her head of these thoughts and made her choice.

"Yeah, okay, I'll come with you."

She took some solace in knowing that others would be staying to help the people here. Besides, she wasn't much of one to argue with the Jedi Master. Making sure she had what she needed, Amani let out a deep sigh and mentally prepared herself. She looked at Elise,

"Mind if I ride with you? I... don't really know how to drive a speeder."

She hopped on without really waiting for an answer, there wasn't much of a choice, after all.

A feeling had been pulling at Amani the longer they waited. Clawing at her, telling her to turn away, that something was wrong. But she had made up her mind, she wouldn't stand by while people's lives might be at risk. She felt a pit in her stomach drop.

"I have a bad feeling about this."
