Dominion Rule Alterations

If I do 25 posts in a 100 post dominion, do we now have to hit 105 posts as a group or 125?

Assume in this example we reached 90 and realised someone had over posted by a few.

If anyone catches it, a post penalty from Staff may be applied. Probably 25 posts, but it depends on the situation.
Obviously I will 100% live by whatever you decide, you are the Boss-Man etc buut..

I know particularly in the Ravens we do rather eeeeh, free form Dominions. So in order for person A and B to do the part of the Dominion they're in and to write it well and believably, they might need.. I dunno, 23 posts each. I would rather their cumulative 6 posts over just didn't count.

By that same token, I sometimes DM Dominions for my members, and the Story teller account, as it could be posting and responding to every person in there if they decide to divide and conquer will definitely go over 20 posts. Again, I'd rather have the overages just not count towards the total than get a penalty above and beyond slapped on.

At the end of the day, I've always cared more about story, so I'll do it.. But I might whine about it ;p

TL;DR
Can we just say only 20 of a writers posts will count towards the Dominion rather than penalizing them for writing more?

No Tef that's not what was meant, the problem is that some factions use false opposition to increase post count. If 60% of a dominion are done by the Rebels while the Empire is doing a dominion of Hoth and the Rebels are clearly winning, soon as there are 100 posts Empire gets the planet regardless (using the movies not current factions).

Some factions have even gone so far as to create these opposition factions as a way to increase the post counts in their dominions, knowing it doesn't matter in the end.

The only people who can approve others in joining their Dominions are the faction admins... So this "problem" isn't a Staff problem.

I suggest taking it up with your FA's, or starting a different topic to try and make some headway on communal reform.

Clarification: My concerns weren't towards whether or not an opposition is really an opposition but whether or not it's a faction's efforts when a majority of the writers involved aren't actually members of their faction and doing most of the posting.

Although, this may be beside the point.

Then maybe... they should stop and ask themselves why they're posting in another Major Faction's Dominion.

Lol. I'm not shrugging this issue off. It's just clearly not a Staff priority, or something we need to address.

My assertion wasn't that members are posting on other faction's dominions without permission. But it makes a faction less meaningful if a majority of the characters contributing to that faction's efforts aren't even part of that faction.

I'm just here to roleplay, so maybe I'm making an issue out of something that's not. If Faction A started a dominion and had 5 writers posting in it and Faction B sent 10 of their writers to help them finish it then what's the point of being part of Faction A? Maybe I just answered my question... But people won't realize it if results show for efforts not their own.

I'll leave it at that as I don't want to divert this thread.

Like I said, I get your concern, but I don't view that as any different from Faction Aid for Invasions... even though in some cases, the opposing Faction represents the opposition in the Dominion.

Tbh, if we ruled against that particular situation - we're taking something away from Dominions. And bringing in more people only helps make the Dominion more of a exercise in teamwork, and helps abide by the rule set forth in this thread's OP.

It's a side-effect that the Faction Admins have found, and have tested - and to their surprise, doesn't warrant a Staff ruling nor intervention. It's not cheating, because every Faction can do it. It doesn't deter from the "story" - it only adds to it. It's not underhanded - people are aware of what they're doing. Does it need regulation? No, I don't think so. I've only ever seen it complained about here in this thread. And honestly, the argument against it is pretty weak, in my opinion.

I don't say this to persuade you one way or another - should you really feel it is detrimental to this community that we address this, post a new thread about it and find out what the response is. But given that the OP of this thread is regulating post quality and individual post count in a Dominion - and your proposal regulates the people allowed in Dominions - I'd wager not too many people would be in favor of it.

But I've been wrong before.

Change that affect an entire community this large needs to happen gradually. I believe what you're calling for is too drastic and ultimately, unnecessary. Faction Admins drive this measure, and I mandate - unless overruled by the popular majority of the community - that Faction Admins will drive it's change, if it warrants one.
