Oddly enough, from his own kin Don is considered rater unattractive by his kin. Considering that Hapen men and women are considered extremely beautiful. Although this may not be considered the case, he stands well over 6 ft tall with short cut blond hair and bright blue eyes. However, he's often covered head to toe in his suit because of his personal body image.
BIOGRAPHY:
Don Delfino unlike most of his isolated, kin was rather more open and wanting to see and explore the rest of the galaxy. But part of this was do to the fact that he felt extremely ostracized from the rest of the Hapen community for being considered unattractive. This sadly gave him some serious body image issues. Subjecting himself to self harming forms of body augmentation. Overall Don was in a very bad place.
However, he found salvation from his life as a male Hapen who was "unattractive". That was the Galactic Empire, a collection of systems that act as a light in the end of the tunnel of a dark galaxy. Providing those under it with security and equal opportunity for people of all creeds and backgrounds. Meaning a broken lost man like Don could find purpose and have a higher calling to strive for. Even if this idealized version was just a legend. So as quickly as the opertunity presented itself for Don he'd jump on it to leave his past behind the best he can.
It wasn't long before he was given a position of authority in the imperial ranks. Partly to his skill and partly from his dedication to the empire and what it represented for him. It wasn't a system of oppression in his eyes, it was the city on a hilltop that showed the best potential the galaxy had to offer. This is what allowed him to become a political officer for the Empire's army. However, all good things must come to an end. The Galactic Empire was just too ahead of it's time and paid the price because of it.
One could say that Don Delfino became something of a warlord after the collapse, but the discipline and loyalty he's instilled in the brave souls under his authority stood proud and tall with him in his own effort to keep the Galactic Empire alive and well, even if it wasn't in the same state of former glory before it collapsed and ran across the galaxy in a sad attempt for the imperial leadership to expand their survivability instead of fighting it out. But they'd rather run with their tails between their tails between their legs, and using threats of violence against those who'd rather leave. This is what made Don despise the very leaders he looked up to. So he refused to leave their territory, and decided to make an imperial hold out himself if that's what it meant to stand by his principles.
Don, not wanting to stoop to the same level as his so called leaders, presented those under his command with options. Either they could go along with the rest of the Empire. Stay with him and stand for their beliefs in a fight worth fighting. Or just leave, the Empire was done in his eyes, it had nothing to really offer. But to his utter surprise the majority of those under his command stayed with him to face the oncoming storm together thanks to Don's ability to instill such a great sense of duty and patriotism for the Galactic Empire. Even broken and disillusioned as he was, he was proud to be in command of such soldier.
However, much like before the he found hope, but in a rather peculiar place. The Confederacy of Independent Systems, a former rival to the Galactic Empire that had managed to outlast it. But what it was that had blown him away was that the values of the confederacy wasn't a lie, it wasn't some facade hiding a darker world of corruption and violence. That's when Don Delfino's obsession with improving himself to an unrealistic standard could give himself something of worth. However, instead of changing himself physically, he could change view of the world and still be a better person for it. He didn't need to abolish everything and start anew. But could pick and choose healthy elements from different ideas and choices to better himself. Thus going from a loyal member of the Galactic Empire to a proud bastion of the Confederacy and her values as well. Finding their doctrines to be more aligned then opposed.
