Droids and Rangers

Fairview, Hast

Gir strolled through the path around the tropical island, peering down the cliffs towards the sparkling cerulean waters. Water gently lapped up at cliffside and up against the white sand beaches even as a fresh breeze sailed across the waves to caress his skin. His blue eyes briefly scanned the horizon, casually looking for [member="Errreembuhr"]'s incoming craft. His family's old private island probably seemed like an unusual place to meet. After all, the Directorate's headquarters was only a two hour flight away in a galaxy that was hundreds of light-years wide. However, with a suspected mole on the loose there, it didn't seem wise to him to introduce yet another new person there. That would be one more person to keep track of, and perhaps more importantly, he doubted that the wookiee would appreciate the stringent security protocols put in place. It wouldn't exactly be the warm welcome and hospitality that Hast was otherwise known for.

He plucked out a silver cylinder from his shirt, "T4, any signs of our guests's ship?"

The highly clipped voice of the caretaker protocol droid came back strong.

"Not yet sir. I will inform you immediately if the villa's sensors pick up any incoming craft."

"Good," said Gir, "it probably wouldn't hurt to monitor traffic control channels as well."

"But of course, sir."

There were many places in the galaxy that Errreembuhr had yet visited, and Hast was on that list. In fact it was one system he'd never even known to exist before he was approached by a representative of The Directorate. This meeting was one he'd been looking forward to since it was set, as it would represent quite a significant deal for him.

On final approach, Errreembuhr paced the hangar, watching his droids as they loaded the cargo into two Kinrath-class dropships. It could all be fit easily into one, but it worked better in two as the Tach-series droids were fit inside to help unload once the deal was written.

The wookiee's comm system beeped as he received a message from the bridge.

"Exiting hyperspace now."

"Excellent, Agil. Patch me through to the command on the ground." Errreembuhr waited a moment before receiving confirmation that he was put through. "This is Errreembuhr of EODD, I am here on business with [member="Gir Quee"] of The Directorate. Requesting permission to land."

The placid voice of a traffic control droid answered [member="Errreembuhr"]'s hail as his ship neared the ocean covered world.

"Captain Errreembuhur, permission granted. A flight path is being transmitted to your vessel now. Please do not deviate from your course."

The wookiee would be able to see that a number of Directorate warships were close by, including a handful of Liberté-class Light Corvettes and a single Verne-class Armored Cruiser. A quartet of sleek Typhoon starfighters jetted out of the armored cruiser's stern and formed up around Errreembuhr's ship as a honor guard. The projected flight path was fairly direct and to the point, though it notably took pains to keep them away from the airspace around Fort Shipwright and Ibtasim City.

Back on Fairview, Gir received notification that the wookiee's vessel had arrived in-system, which caused him to casually stroll towards the island's landing pad to wait for their arrival.

"Directions received, departing for the surface now."

Errreembuhr's shuttle departed from his light cruiser, which hung in orbit awaiting his endeavors on the surface. The sight of the defensive fleet came with no surprise, as he expected some level of security even for a simple meeting such as this. He would have been far outmatched had he come with more devious intentions, as his ship was an old Mandalorian interdictor design, capable of standing up to fighters, but lacking very little in the way of weaponry to fight back against the Directorate ships gathered here.

Once the shuttle was on course the fighters took formation around it, a guard that the Wookiee could see through the viewports as he made his way down to the water-covered planet. It wasn't a long trip, given the direct nature of their determined course, and before long an island appeared in the distance, one which the shuttle now descended onto.

When the entry ramp descended, so too did Errreembuhr to meet his host.
