Dominion Drop It Like It's Hoth (OPA Dominion of Hoth)

BYOO - Recover items from ship crashed earlier.

Fething Hoth!!! She growled deep her predator skills surfacing as he eyes narrowed.

She leaned down and rubbed her leg it had never felt right since that time since landing...........no since crashing here. The ship deep into the snow, freezing, and waiting to explode and who should show up the fething Colonel!!!!!

Geezz....dammmm...fethh....."I hate Hoth. I hate cold. I hate snow." She stared out the view. She began to compare the coordinates that she remembered to where her old ship the Damsel lay in the snow. Pirates, Scavengers could have come by and picked it clean but who else would want to come to Hoth.

No one wants to freeze to death on Hoth.

The code injection in question was about renewing a set of credentials for accessing a different subset of the more sensitive files; these, too, needed an emergency password reset, because the old password was corrupted. I hope I won't need a second bolt of Force-lightning to complete the process; the cold is getting to me right now! Janick thought, while the password was being modified to allow access to these additional sensitive files. Janick was a bit nervous, but she was lucky the systems still somewhat operational would not be able to detect some electric spike due to the usage of Force-lightning to recharge an emergency power cell. With the injection taking place, Janick was wondering exactly what was the content of these files she was making an emergency backup of, because those files had codenames that belied their actual content. Until a decision has been made regarding the Yard's future in OPA service, Janick feels prudent, however, to maintain the mainframe, while the databanks' contents would probably be combed before the re-commissioning of the Yard would happen.

The one and only upside to having cybernetic arms was that Shira didn't need to keep her hands warm. Oh, extreme cold could do damage over time, but it didn't feel the same. Less distracting, anyway.

The rest of her could get plenty cold, so she wore a parka against the bitter wind roaring through the abandoned shipyard. A little sensor brought her to the woman she'd come to find.

" Janick Beauchamp Janick Beauchamp ? I'm Shira Varanin. There's a serious fight brewing, and I've been sent to get you somewhere safe. What do you think? Are these yards salvageable?"

Hoth was now turning into something that she suspected the OPA least expected. This was just exactly how she wanted it, Mežsrožu took pleasure in the creative chaos that was now in its opening movement. She let loose a burst of guttural laughter, "it seems brother and his cult have arrived, this pleases me greatly." Mežsrožu then turned to her personal unit and inquired on the status of the Navy. "Status on our bombers, FN-3156."
"Enroute, they'll be entering realspace shortly," FN-3156 reported as he sidestepped to look at a console within the tower. Markers on the screen told him that the Marines were en route and that the ice worms were nearing a rapidly moving set of blips. He would feel for them if it weren't for the fact that worms were merely cannon fodder. "Ice worms are nearing their targets."
Ice worms lurked beneath the surface of Sinestra Sinestra and Jend-Ro Quill Jend-Ro Quill 's snowspeeders like an orca on its prey they locked onto their dinner and rushed out of a frozen patch of ice meters in front of either of the men. The skies above darkened as First Order TIE Fighters screamed overhead and made their way toward the mountains and begin to tag them.
"Ready the Ithaqua Fighters." Mežsrožu ordered, "and set charges, nothing survives this day."
FN-3149 and 3147 moved out of the tower, the base where Mežsrožu operated from would be detonated in a short time.
Meanwhile, Kyrel would get an encrypted message: FOR SEIGER! TROOPS EN ROUTE.

The ice worms breached the ice ahead, bloated green bodies flailing in the frozen air, teeth flashing, the tentacles lining their mouths wriggling in anticipation as their meal sped towards them across the blinding Hoth landscape.

Eryn had about a fifteen second head start on the pair (Jude and Jend) coming in from the other direction, a speeder loaded to the gills with random salvage, and zero intentions of sticking around. Only reason she’d signed on at all was the promise of a decent payday, endless icy solitude and no one to kark up her day. And hell if Hoth hadn’t delivered it all with points to spare.
But nothing lasts. Other people showed up. First Order Remnants too, looked like, that’s an immediate hard pass.
And now there were bugs ‘nd stuff comin’ up out of the ground.
Definitely time to leave.

With survival instincts tingling, the wanted criminal had packed up her operation, wrapped every exposed bit of flesh in layers of insulated fabric and furs, and thrice noped right the hell out of there, roaring across the snow on the most direct route back to the Vekarr’s Pride she could find.
It just so happened the worms were in her way.
Why go around them when she could just...insist they move for her?
Besides, the wiggly bits gave her the willies, and she did have that bag of thermal detonators Katria had insisted she bring with her.
Y’know, for the wampas. Which she’d seen none of.
Shame to return to the ship without using at least one...

Closing fast, frigid air blasting past the fur covered blob that was Eryn, she angled her speeder, fished out a thermal det and fumbled it, the unactivated silver ball flying out of her hand and landing in the snow behind her. The facemask muffled the string of curses that followed.
Greenish slug bodies were almost upon her. It was now or never.
Focused and with a firmer grip, Eryn managed to activate one and set the timer, which she hurled rather unceremoniously as close to the ice worms as she could get without taking attention away from the approaching snowspeeder.
Veering off sharply, there was a sharp snap as one of the boxes securing her salvage broke open, scattering random bits across the icy ground like birdseed, but there was no time to stop and gather it now.

Cooked tentacle-y worm was about to be served, and Eryn had no intention of sampling any of it.

An extra burst of speed and a silent prayer that her mechanical steed wouldn’t crap out on her before she reached Katria, and she was headed away from the scene.
Speaking of her snarky mission companion…
“Comin’ in a little hot,” she bellowed into her comms, flipping to Katria’s personal frequency. “I’m seein’ TIE Fighters and ice worms and I’m not stickin’ around to see which one is friendlier. Prep the ship, got the salvage, let’s get the kark outta here.”

Objective: Stay warm and keep Eryn safe

Friends: OPA and her employer Eryn

Enemies: Anyone trying to kill Eryn or herself; whichever comes first

She'd always known there was a reason she dreaded returning to mercenary work. Returning to the simple, yet utterly complicated, constant repeat of finding an employer and hoping she got paid for the job she completed. Something she had become fairly lax about after her time within the Confederacy, but not something she had come to forget about entirely.

It had been virtually impossible to completely forget when she was steeped in dealing with potentially hiring people who'd been her at one point in her life.

The part she despised most about this particular job, this particular pain in her tail, was the locale. Had she been told ahead of time what to expect? Definitely. Had she been briefed on just where they were going and why? Absolutely. The issue was that she had spent so much time getting her mind around the repairs and restocks she knew were looming over her that she'd conveniently forgotten.

And so, as she stood there in the cold, staring off into the blindingly abysmal white void, she couldn't help but curse under her breath at her willingness to take the job. Her hands were chilled, the clothes bundling her body barely keeping the heat in, but something told her that things were about to go from fairly easy to poodoo in a matter of minutes.

"You know you don't have to stand out there in the cold, we do have scanners in the cockpit where it's warm." Echoed June as she leaned just slightly towards the blustering hall down to the docking ramp where she could see Katria standing just inches into the snow. "Are you sure you don't want to use them?"

Instinctively the young mercenary rolled her eyes and, with a tilt of her head, glanced back at her companion with a look lacking amusement. A smile crept over June's face, but all that could be seen was the absence of amusement until the mercenary opened her mouth.

"You know full well that if I go in there, in the cockpit alone with you, I'm not going to leave it until at least either of us is craving something to or worse, and that includes listening to one of your choice lectures," she huffed as she turned to full face the other woman for but a few moments. Only then could it be seen that she was merely displeased with the weather and not the sight of her companion. "So, as much as I hate this cold, I think we both know it's in Eryn's best interest if I stay focused even if I'm freezing my karking tail off."

"Well, at least you gave her the detonators for the wampas. Few ever tell cheery stories about them." June mused as she disappeared out of sight and deeper into the ship. If they were going to get off this ice rock she was going to have to get the ship warmed up ahead of time. And, as though by some kind of coincidence that just about brought a sigh from the mercenary, it was then that Katria's comm kicked out a message.

"JUNE," the mercenary shouted into the ship as she slowly backed her way up the ramp and towards her rifle and eventually the entrance to the turret ladder. "We're about to have company in a lot more ways than just the one we brought with us. So whatever you're doing to help us get off this rock, I'd suggest you expedite it!"

This day was about to get a whole lot more interesting.

Then again, things often were in the day to day for a Vekarr.

"Janick Beauchamp? I'm Shira Varanin. There's a serious fight brewing outside, and I've been sent to get you somewhere safe. What do you think? Are these yards salvageable?"

"While salvageable, any attempt to get the yard back to operational status would require additional equipment!"

Now that the emergency backup of sensitive information is complete, she could then log out: while the First Order's password management system is elaborate, it was perhaps the main software that could remain in the system should the Yard be brought back to operational status. The Ssi-ruuk destroyed much of the equipment and, even then, didn't attempt to use it for their own needs because it was incompatible with the demands of entechment. What is the First Order remnant attacking after? That remnant seems to have no real interest in recapturing the Yard, at least for the time being, Janick thought, while she was leaving the frozen shipyard for some extraction point. And then it seemed to be reminiscent of Shusugaunt in her mind, although the circumstances were different. The threat was different from obscenely cold weather, so here, because of the impending threat of the First Order remnant, she feels that any run-in with the enemy would compromise that objective of the operation, while the main objective was facing stiff resistance, where the battle took place.

"Well sure, and months and millions." As they trooped out of the shipyard's most dense areas, Shira checked her portable sensor screen. New contacts were blossoming all over, some marked friendly and others absolutely not. TIE fighters screamed through the clouds, firing on distant targets in the North Ridge mountains.

"I think we need to get out there," the Jedi Knight said as she buckled herself into her snowspeeder. That left the back seat for Janick: sensors, tow cable, a light blaster cannon. "This battle is escalating harder than anyone could've predicted. You down to fight once we get your data somewhere safe?"

"Falkrowe, there's a-"

Another ship or speeder crossed his path at an ungainly angle. A thermal detonator went off in the faces of giant green worms lunging up from the ice. Worm viscera, gallons of it, splattered the viewscreen of Quill's snowspeeder. Something raked along the undercarriage, maybe half a worm. Half the control board turned red and smoke filled the cabin.

"-worm. I'm down but safe-"

The speeder plowed into a drift on the slopes of Mount Ison. Quill popped the canopy and got out, quickly. The smoking vehicle was a big target, and TIE fighters were already inbound.

He waved to Falkrowe's snowspeeder and started walking toward the icy gorge where Kimiko Taiyou Kimiko Taiyou had just landed some troops. Seemed the best place to help and/or get a ride.

The planet was rapidly evolving into a full blown warzone between Alliance and First Order remnant Forces. With the Empress and her escorts underground and out of touch, the Sakuran Supreme Commander was in charge of deployed forces.

The sizeable Sakuran task force began picking up multiple targets across the planet and in orbit. The bridge of the SIN Nagato was buzzing with reports. Chika, doing what she did best began issuing orders as fast as new hotpoints arose.

"Scramble all fighters, 3 groups! Group 1: Prepare to intercept the incoming bombers. Group 2: Get in atmosphere now and engage those fighter. Group 3: Provide overwatch on all forces, focussing on the mountain."

She released a flustered groan, thinking of all the outcomes this little expedition could have. She watched her command screen warily as waves of new friendly transponders blinked to life. Wishing a silent good luck to her pilots.

"Can anyone on this ship get me a positive bearing on Kimiko? And someone get me a cup of caf!"

Quill's bad feeling about this came to reality when a thermal detonator 'saved' them from turning into appetizers for ice worms. Jude wasn't still sure how ten minutes ago he had been losing in sabacc to granps and now he seemed to have crashed in the midst of an open warfare between two armadas.

"Same...sort of." Jude replied squinting at the gash in his right thigh.

Limping after the sage, he raised his arms at the soldiers the duo followed into the gorge.

"O P A, O P A." he shouted and groaned. "J of ORION and Master Jend-Ro Quill."

"Where's y'all's Empress?" Jude asked and toppled down in the snow to rest for a bit. "Granps, got some spacespirin?"

By far the fastest, most efficient, and simplest way to solve the problem was to use a bizarre technique he'd picked up from Wonderworker Wonderworker - taking someone else's injury on himself. Quill grimaced, drew on the Force heavily, and the gash on Falkrowe's leg knit shut in a heartbeat.

And an identical cut appeared on his own leg, which hurt - a lot.

Blood soaked the leg of his pants almost immediately. "Get moving," he wheezed, not particularly caring if Falkrowe put two and two together. "I can take care of my injury, it'll just take me a little longer than it took for yours. Get..." He waved vaguely in the direction of Kimiko Taiyou Kimiko Taiyou 's forces, who weren't far away now. "Go do things. Shavvit that burns." He flopped on his back in the snow. "I'm fine. Fffff."

By now the Marines had made it halfway across the landscape, small squadrons on speeder bikes, while the ice worms retreated to rethink a new strategy and a new source of food as a large group of individuals gathered near the Archives.
Mežsrožu descended the tower with her guards to be met with a rather particular officer, "Sun-Shin." The Ren remarked with some surprise as she bowed with respect toward Commander Sun-Shin, who wore the new First Order naval uniforms. "I presume that the base has been evacuated properly?"
"It has." Sun-Shin gestured for the two to walk, "information regarding our project has been sent to Qeravert. Yvarro has been notified of the movement."
Yvarro. Mežsrožu scoffed at the name but gave Sun-Shin a smile. The lights of the base faded, as darkness took over and charges were set. The pair and their guards approached a landing pad with two ships a modified Fury that belonged to Mežsrožu and a modified X-70B that belonged to the commander. Hoth had been where preliminary studies had been ongoing on the Permafrost crystals that were native here. Expeditionary teams had been sent out to the graveyard to retrieve anything that was salvageable.
As the pair appeared on the landing pad, the bombers that Ren had ordered finally entered the system. Raskovas along with a few Vindicators had arrived to collect the First Order TIE Fighters. More importantly, the information here at the base had been secured and the projects that Yvarro had ordered would continue to be safeguarded. Orders were clear, the FO TIE Fighters were not to engage enemy ground support and only paint or tag various mountains.
Once more the group that had seen the ice worms would see the FO TIE Fighters again. This time they would retreat to high orbit while the Raskovas moved to calculate drop rates, and pushed into Hoth's atmosphere. Commander Sun-Shin and Mežsrožu along with their guards climbed into their respective starships. "FN-3156 inform the marines to rendezvous at the following site, we'll have them picked up shortly."
Outpost Veers was built by a man who anticipated war and held many secrets, the marines would be able to find safety through a particular escape route once they've met with enemy forces. "Hit and run tactics only, we don't have the means to sustain a full military campaign."
FN-3156 acknowledged the order as DT-1884 initiated lift-off procedures. The base behind them would implode in a wave with the cliff face of snow behind it, agitated just enough to send volumes of the wintery mess on top of it. Fury and X-70B lifted off from the landing pad just as the last of the implosions detonated. At least four of the Raskovas could be seen now, Mežsrožu grinned at the sight of them they were escorted by Bolts and no doubt the Daggers were not far behind.
From the ground only the Raskovas were clearly seen, the Bolts appeared more like a massive thrantas in the clouds, skimming along but never breaking the surface. It was a show of force, the First Order wasn't as dead as they thought. Raskovas built with four bomber magazines each let loose a torrent of proton bombs across the frozen wasteland with an aim toward the old Echo Base/Outpost Veers and toward the location of the FOSB Archives.
In the system, a very familiar ship awaited both Mežsrožu and Commander Sun-Shin.

"I think I could do it. However, are there walkers among the hostiles?"

Poodoo. Hopefully the data will be safe: that's why I even went to fething Hoth to begin with, she thought, while taking the rear seat of a snowspeeder and handling sensors. Bombing runs were launched against some nearby mountain, and airborne tow cables were usable pretty much only against walkers; were there walkers in the area? Plus a light blaster cannon had limited use against anything other than snowtroopers. However, would the light blaster cannon be able to penetrate a TIE fighter's radiator panel? Because it was, as on Terminus, a question of hitting the radiator panel. She knew radiator panels were prime targets for this if and once it comes to that, and that, unfortunately, a snowspeeder was a poor craft to engage TIE fighters. And yet, it appeared these TIEs were retreating.

Shira got the snowspeeder off the ground but kept it low and slow, skirting around the edges of the ruined shipyard. The sensor arrays just kept blossoming with additional contacts - lots of friendly, lots of not.

"Not seeing any walkers. Lots of ground vehicles, though - tracks, wheels, repulsorlifts. Lots of TIEs but they're pulling back and-"

Searing light made Shira throw the snowspeeder into a spin. Some of those sensor contacts were full-sized corvettes, and they were unloading explosives on surface targets in quantity. Those targets appeared to include the sites where that ground convoy was heading.

"Feth, Beauchamp...I think they just bombed each other. Maybe the ground forces and the space forces aren't on the same side. Or...feth. What the..."

It took some time to get down onto the ground, both due to the heavy weather conditions and the fact the planet was slowly but surely turning into a warzone between the First Order and whoever else they were fighting against. He needed to get down on the ground, find the FOSB, and Reconnect with the First Order properly.

As soon as the Hellspawn Transport landed on the snow, the 8 Total Squads of B2-CA and B2-CS Battle Droids departed first to make a perimeter around the entrance to the ship, before HK-42 stepped out himself. He recalled the last time he was on an Ice Planet like this, hunting down a member of the Silver Jedi, and he did wonder if she was still alive. But his mind left those thoughts for the future, and soon gave the following command to the nearby crew of the Hellspawn Transport.
"Return to the Qymaen jal Sheelal. Inform the Commodore I want Tiger Bombers and Advanced Hawks sweeping this area. Bomb anything that is not identified as First Order. Have Three Hellspawn Transports full of 10 Squads each of B2-CA and B2-CS Battle Droids as Reinforcements."

The crew who was taking this message saluted HK-42 before closing the doors and taking off back to the Command Ship. He knew things were going to get ugly down here, but he didn't quite know when, where, and if the other members of the First Order even wanted this kind of Military Aid. Either way, he wanted the insurance in case he needed the extra firepower, and also wanted to keep whatever enemy the First Order had out hereunder some form of suppression. Now, all that HK-42 had to do now, was to make his way out to the FOSB Archives. He started the long trek with his droids, and just simply held the faint emotion of hope, that the First Order would welcome the General back into their ranks with open arms.

Lila moved forward plopping down into the co pilot seat the twi'lek looked out at the endless sea of white, "It's kinda pretty Rekha look at it. Everything seems to crisp and clean." She smiled taking some comfort in what she felt.

Rekha looked over at her, "Yeah it's pretty and fluffy and all sparkly under the sun..until......it becomes the enemy"

Lila wondered about the odd demeanor of the Captain, "oookkk....um soo...tell me why...."

Rekha nodded, "ok fair enough I can do that" She thought about it and wanted to give it the right spin, "Back when I was a bit younger and bit more of a fool...sorta. I was running some shipments through here, one run the Damsel starting acting cranky I checked it all out at the jump point but something gave way that I hadn't counted on and I ended crashing here. Oh the winter wonderland of this sector. Naturally I got hurt and I was freezing didn't think anyone would come....someone did...this Colonel that just knows how to make me mad."

She looked down might be nice to have an argument with the old man maybe she'd look around for some other folks that knew him. Anyhow.

"We almost got ate by a wampa, almost blew up because of the cargo....it wasn't fun."

Lila wasn't shocked, "So. the ship broke down you lost the cargo, and someone you didn't like showed up...sounds like a normal day for you"

"normal...yeah, keep an eye out there should be some sign of the Damsel in the snow"
