ADVANCED SYSTEMSSTANDARD FEATURESStrengths:
  • Highly destructive Turbolasers excel at piercing thick armor and shields
  • Highly destructive primary weaponry fires a continuous beam of energy for several seconds. Depending on how the ship and the target ship are moving, this beam could hit a single spot on the enemy ship or could rake across the surface of the ship. Should the beam be kept on a particular spot, the beam is highly damaging to shields and armor and can sometimes penetrate through to damage the hull of the ship long before the shields fail completely. Should the beam rake across the surface of a lightly armored, unshielded ship, the attack can prove highly damaging as the beam can damage large sections of a ship in a single salvo.
  • Primary shields recover quickly from being drained and excel at withstanding numerous strikes from lesser craft
  • Secondary shields offer significantly greater protection against high power weaponry than the Primary Shields
  • High grade steel construction affords the craft exceptional structural integrity
  • Thick armor plating stands up to high power, high caliber, and armor piercing weaponry very well
  • Capable of diverting power away from maneuvering thrusters to overcharge primary Ion Drives, affording the ship a temporary +1 Rating to Speed at the expense of a temporary -1 Rating to Maneuverability
  • Capable of diverting power away from primary Ion Drive to overcharge weapon systems, affording the ship a temporary +1 Rating to Armament at the expense of a temporary -1 Rating to Speed
  • Capable of diverting power away from primary Ion Drive to overcharge shield systems, affording the ship a temporary +1 Rating to Defense at the expense of a temporary -1 Rating to Speed
Weaknesses:
  • Beam weaponry have a low rate of fire and a long reload between shots
  • Beam weaponry that does not 'rake' a ship can often do little damage to lightly armored targets as the beam over-penetrates the hull
  • Beam weaponry that rakes a heavily armored ship will struggle to penetrate
  • Primary shields are more likely to be pierced by high powered weaponry than standard shields
  • Secondary shields, if overwhelmed, cannot be brought back online until recharged to full capacity
  • High grade steel is exceptionally hard to cut through or otherwise manipulate, making the ship particularly difficult to repair when structurally damaged
  • Built from a high density metal, these ships are heavy and slow to move and maneuver
  • Built from a high density metal, these ships appear quite prominently on gravity based and magnetic based sensors, often appearing as significantly larger ships while still at extreme ranges
  • Weapon Power Converter, Unbreakable Engine System, and Engine Boosting System cannot be rapidly activated and deactivated (IE, no rapid toggling of stats mid-post)
  • Though the ship's rating allows for two squadrons of starfighters, half of this space is instead used for the STARSCAN Suite

DESCRIPTION

Sometimes called Star Dragon-class Destroyers by those with limited vernacular skills, the Duinuogwuin-class Star Destroyer is named for one of the more mystical species one can encounter in the depths of space and is a similarly uncommon sight in the Outer Rim. Though these ships are built at the Ancoran orbital ring, they belong to the Kathol Republic and are used by the Kathol Republic Navy in numerous cruising missions throughout the Kathol Sector. Incorporating a wide range of technological assets from various societies within Coalition space and beyond, these Kathol Republic warships are designed to operate within the worst environments the Kathol Sector has to offer.

Much like other Ancoran Warships, the primary weapons of the Duinuogwuin-class are an impressive battery of high powered heavy turbolasers. These weapons are arranged into four dorsal turrets with three guns on each turret. Two turrets face forward while two face to the rear of the ship. The lethality of these weapons is greatly enhanced by the incorporation of a highly volatile fuel source that significantly improves the destructive potential of these weapons without also requiring a lower than normal rate of fire. However, unlike other Ancoran Warships, the primary weapons of the Duinuogwuin-class also incorporate the exotic beam weaponry of the Pimbrellans. Where most heavy turbolasers produce brief bursts of energy that are consolidated into tightly compressed 'bolts', the turbolasers of the Duinuogwuin-class emit beams of energy that persists for several seconds and do not detonate into an explosive blast when impacting a hostile ship. Where the energy bolts of Turbolasers and Blasters are highly contained within electromagnetic fields that falter and detonate upon impact, the containment field of these Beam weapons retain their strength after point of contact. This retention, along with the effect of a sustained beam, makes these weapons highly damaging to very large targets, as the beams are capable of penetrating deep into the hull of a target ship and causing wide swaths of a ship to suffer structural damage. This also makes the weapons more likely to cause critical damage to internal components of a hostile ship. The downside to this though, is that the weapons have a long delay between shots and can sometimes struggle to bring down certain types of shields, such as those with a particularly fast regeneration rate.

The Duinuogwuin-class Star Destroyer is also equipped with exceptional defensive system. Starting with a sturdy hull of dense, durable metals, the ship possesses a great deal of structural integrity and can withstand significant internal damage before losing combat effectiveness. So sturdy is the hull of the ship that it can withstand severe gravitational strain before risking failure. Adding to this protection would be the double-layered armor plating that encases the ship and enables the Duinuogwuin-class to shrug off surprisingly powerful blows from energy based weaponry. Similarly, the shape of the hull and the thickness of the composite plating lends favorably to heavy angling against opposing ships that make heavy use of projectile weaponry.

The shields of the Duinuogwuin-class are as exceptional as any other aspect of the ship's design. The design incorporates a redundant shielding system that combings two wildly different types of deflector shielding. The first of these shields is a low-strength shield that regenerates rapidly, where the second of the shields is a high-strength shield that regenerates slowly. With this combination, the ship's shields are able to keep up with the sustained damage of small-caliber weaponry utilizing the primary shields and can rely upon the strength of the secondary shields to prevent penetration by the intermittent strikes of larger-caliber weaponry. More interestingly though, the shields of this ship are capable of being projected over a short distance to cover and protect a nearby allied ship. While this act may leave the host ship reliant solely upon the strength of its secondary shields for protection, it is an act that can save an allied ship from destruction and provides an exceptional enhancement to the overall battle performance of a Coalition fleet as a whole. When this is used in conjunction with the advanced power distribution system of the ship, a fleet that incorporates numerous Duinuogwuin-class Star Destroyers is capable of responding to a wide range of shifting battlefield conditions and poses a significant threat upon the battlefield.

Though these ships are sometimes used for scientific missions and simple acts of exploration, they are most often used by the Kathol Republic as a form of heavy duty "hunter killer" asset that can be sent after particularly barbaric pirates or foreign naval assets that choose to trespass over sovereign Coalition worlds. While the ships possess advanced armor, shields, and weapons, it is primarily thanks to a wide array of advanced and exotic sensors that the Duinuogwuin-class of ships is capable of surviving combat operations in such extreme environments as the radiation fields of the Galtea System, the turbulent folds of the Kathol Rift, the vast emptiness of the Marcol Void, or any of the innumerable asteroid fields of the Kathol Sector.

Note: No weapon, now matter how shiny, can be used to call hits on Chaos. The above description for the weapons is only intended to highlight the physical differences between the functionality of standard Turbolasers and the weapons that are utilized on this ship. In short, they're suggestions. It's still up to the defending writer to decide if their forces are damaged at all, let alone the extent of that damage and what form that damage takes.

Seems solid and balanced, only thing I am going to ask is that you write a disclaimer at the bottom that just indicates that you cannot force anyone to take damage. It might seem a bit silly, but if you could add this then I will be happy to pass this up to secondary!

That's not attitude directed at you or your request, that's sarcasm at the nature of competitive threads on chaos.

The disclaimer I added complies with your initial edit request.

Note: No matter how much you bash your face against your desk in frustration at the behavior of others, you cannot force them to take damage.

While I believe the core concept of what you're saying is true, I find the tone being used here counterproductive. Please adjust that to a more neutral tone accordingly.

That should work for what's being requested.
