Educate Thyself: Paintball Edition
Mandalorian Empire Dominion of Obroa-Skai
clanmantis.png

The planet of Obroa-Skai was, for all intents, a gigantic archive, library and university. How was it that the Mandalorians came to bring a world of learning into their fold?

Mandalorians were far from a rabid bunch of berserker cavemen and women in armour bashing at keys. They were engineers, scientists, agriculturists, musicians, and historians. They were also far overdue for some R & R.

While [member="Baiko no Kaho"] worked on the appropriate documentation for Obroa-Skai to become part of the Mandalorian Empire, the women and men of the Mando'ade separated to live up in the collegiate nightlife.

In celebration of the newly burgeoning connection with the Empire, the sororities and fraternities of Obroa-Skai are throwing two massive parties for the men and women of Mandalore.
All expenses paid.

Inside the limousine her mother won at auction, Mand'alor the Infernal sat in her armour, the wolf helm gone for the night. It was her version of dressed for a night on the town. She grinned as little Adara pranced from lap to lap, twirling around in her pretty purple princess dress.

Adara insisted! She was this many, now! (Five) Baba Kaine said it was really okay for a girl to wear a dress once in a while. Bouncing around [member="Beth Australis-Mantis"], the ad'ika sipped her sippy cup of fizzy pop. All the adults had a full bar stocked to the gills. Yasha herself even nursed a glass of tihaar.

"What kind of trouble are we getting in first? Firing range? Dance club? Fisticuffs? Daughter-wrangling!?" Yasha pulled her daughter up onto her lap and kissed Adara's cheek with pecking kisses, amidst squeals from her daughter.

"Mamaaa! Eeeeewwwww!" Adara giggled, kicking her tiny white booted feet.

"Oh, Mand'alor, we've got something even better for the first activity... One of our older arts buildings is in dire need of a paint job..." Mika the Sorority Sister picked up two odd looking guns, and grinned.

"Every time you get shot, take a shot." Mika giggled as her sisters passed paintball guns to all the Mandalorian females.

OOC: Women, with Yasha! Men, with [member="Tom Taff"]! Your objectives are simple, the sororities and fraternities of Obroa-Skai are throwing each gender their own custom party!

Tom had set up a bar all stocked and ready for the Mandalorian men to show up. With him was [member="Mykes Vatak"] he was actually standing behind the bar ready to serve or suggest things to mandalorians or others who would show up to party. They had some paint gun operations ready to go. So drunk demolitions and even some drunken duels. This would be absolutely fun.

One thing he hadn't even mentioned to [member="Yasha Mantis"] was that he had stolen part of [member="Kaine Australis"] private reserve as a special prize for the mando who could drink all others under the table. He was sure Kaine would give him an earful later on but right now he wanted the people to have fun. He himself was more going to make sure the people didn't do to much damage. Hence why he was in full armour charged and ready to go.

This would be a very interesting night. Very interesting indeed.

How many times did stardust find herself in a limo? More then she could count but this time it wasnt because she was some royalty or anything this time it was with vod and the mand'alor infernal herself, with her daughter there. Stardust couldnt help but not bring her own daughter let her be around her people learn the culture a little bit, as that was tradition for the mandalorians. The little girl sat quietly on stars lap as she sat back with a smile on her face watching adara climb over laps

hmmm...daughter wrangling I think yasha you might have a biiiit better experience with that then me maybe you can teach me a bit

She joked as brigh glanced up to her mother

mama...will I be able to help?

She asked as stardust received the gun, she looked it over before she looked to brigh and chuckled rubbing her hair as she nodded

of course! I think it's a perfect way to teach you blaster safety and how to aim something that isnt deadly ah....just dont tell your father

Force knew he would not at all like the idea.. but he wasn't here so star was gonna teach

When Shia had been told the plan, the expression on her face had really said it all. Words like 'couldn't we just invade' may have slipped through her mind, leaving scars of guilt behind.

Several weeks later, it still said it.

But this was a party, Shia did like parties, even if the idea of... whatever it was these people did in their halls of learning was frankly terrifying and... deeply gender biased, she didn't even have a word in Mando'a to equate to 'sorority'.

So she came. Dressed to kill and only nominally armed. At least she could perhaps have a fun evening of chasing skirts.

Even if Shia had no idea what to do if she caught skirt, mind you. It was a pretty thought.

To boldly alchemize what no one alchemized before
Petria was still a little young, so she was a little naïve. But if there was somewhere else where she could find another brain like Janick's, whom she knew in person (and, as with Janick, she only made out of Shusugaunt safely because Griet saved their hides in exfil), it was likely to be in a place like Obroa-Skai. Yes, Petria was aware that Janick's estimate was really just that, an estimate, and that the estimate was obtained through her ORC contact on the NIMB. But even assuming the estimate of one-in-a-million would, in fact, hold, and that gender was not a factor, there would be a handful of those among the student body and faculty out there, male or female. And, when she was invited to a party on Obroa-Skai, for some reason, the party invitation was issued to her across her ShadowNet account. Dear entrepreneur from Oorn Tchis, we're hosting a party on Obroa-Skai; I can assure you, it's more than just hormones flying all over the place, mixed with booze. Speaking of booze, we'll be giving it to all attendees for free, so come on down and let's have some fun playing beer pong while music is being played on stage! she reads, before she attempts to land the Bes'solegot near the landing pad, while taking the invitation.

Beth had been very excited to go to Obrai-Skai. In all intents, it was basically a huge library. And university. And medical centers, apparently. It was a nerd's dreamworld. And apparently, fraternities and sororities.

But that wasn't something Beth even remotely cared about. Sure, there would be all sorts of fun things planned, especially with the party that was happening. She sipped some soda as she thought about a way to get into one of the many libraries. So much knowledge, so much to learn. Beth had become a bit of a nerd over time, especially as she decided the majority of her time to education and training. It wasn't that she was just going to disappear, she just wanted to borrow a couple books.

She'd return them later, at some point. Anyway, maybe she could go to university here for... Something? What was that something? Beth wasn't even sure what she wanted her profession to be, let alone pick a university. Beth saw [member="Shia Kryze"] sitting nearby. She hadn't been able to spend much time with Shia, but she was excited to finally get the opportunity too!

Only recently has that started to simmer down and she had more free time. Free time that she had to occupy. Or whatever. Beth was sitting diagonally from [member="Yasha Mantis"]. Adara was bouncing around, literally everywhere. She wasn't even sure how the girl was this hyper without some type of sugars being fed to her. Beth smiled, watching the adorable little ball of darkness jump around the limo.

They would be paintballing an older arts building. That should be interesting! [member="Stardust Bloodstone"] and her kid seemed pretty excited about it, after all. Beth couldn't help but be pretty excited for it, too. She slid over next to Adara, "We'll work together, yeah? We'll make that whole building look like a piece of art, you and me. And mom, of course," she winked playfully to Yasha.

Adara knew nothing of life but the enjoyment of it, when she wasn’t surrounded by the medical team which monitored every sniffle, cough and nosebleed from the frail child. Pushing off her mother, and squirming our in the way only a child could, Adara hopped up and down in the limo, singing a little song about paint and all the colours she knew that she would paint the people and the walls.

The song stopped abruptly as she came across [member="Shia Kryze"]. Mommy loved Shia like a sister. They’d been though all sorts of war, monsters and the monstrosity of going through this thing called poo-burp-ty in this place called the Neth-ner-world.

But Adara knew better than even Mommy. Adara knew Shia didn’t like the Infernal child. Hopping up to Shia, Adara’s black and red eyes flickered up to Shia’s face and whispered. “Adara is painting Shia red... in my mind.”

Word spoken, Adara hopped back along to the rest of the limo, patting her hands on her sister [member="Beth Australis-Mantis"]’ knees.

“Where’s Baba and Ram’ie? Befthy? Where’s Ram’ie and Baba?” Special little grin on her face, Adara spun around and twirled in her dress, the happiest little girl there could be.

[member="Stardust Bloodstone"] [member="Petria Breguet"]

A few weeks ago she got a visitor in her shop on Zeltros, someone who knew she did some requisition work. Wouldn't you know it the week she decides to go and check out the request there are mandalorians every where.

She didn't know mandalorians knew what libraries were. Well she knew now she tried to keep a low profile, as low as a zeltron could keep anyhow. A few lingering looks from those she assumed had never seen a zeltron and a few smirks from those that had been to Zeltros. Well..she wasn't the average zeltron was she.

She would let them harbor their thoughts and ideas she was headed to the Library of Antiquities in search of a book. Yes the buyer was interested in a real book with paper pages and some kind of hide for a cover. She hadn't really taken in the title until she was on her way, she really hadn't decided to look for the book until the other day when it just hit her to go.

The book had a symbol on the front she studied the drawing again -

78781602-design-des-raben-im-keltischen-skandinavischen-stil-und-nordischen-runen-.jpg
It meant nothing to her. Someone in the library would know though. She had to know what was special about this...book.

For one long moment, Shia was acutely aware it would take only a single act of will to return what had been stolen when [member="Adara Raxis"] had been reborn.

One act of will to unravel what was, without doubt, a stolen and warped soul. She had no idea how no one else could not smell the taint spilling off the child, or see the unnatural forces at play sustaining her life.

Something was going to have to be done. She just didn't know what. She forced down the urge to shriek like a banshee - possibly literally, she thought a moment after she'd won the inner battle, then offered Adara her very best small child smile in response to the deeply disturbing sentiment.

There was a bounty out, she'd heard. Manda help whoever tried to collect that, and not from Yasha or Shia, or the guards.

She took a breath, considering broaching the issue with Yasha now. But... it wasn't the time. Yasha couldn't see for a very good reason, one Shia respected even as she mourned it - to be cut off was painful.

She looked at the locals as they explained the... party. Somehow her brain managed a grin on her face, preventing her from completely engaging wallflower mode. It was just insane enough that she genuinely forgot about the child for a moment, aside from a faint flicker of silver that played almost invisibly from behind her eyelids as she blinked. But she didn't even notice the tiny defensive measure, although others might.

"Right... so [member="Beth Australis-Mantis"] gets the first shot, right?"

Apparently it was quite the event.

I was unsure of the circumstances that warranted this kind of celebration. I only heard of a large gathering of Mando'ade upon the planet of Obora Skai. It was fairly close to the Empire's known space routes and borders. The expanding group of reformed Mandalorians was interesting to say the least. Rumors of a rather young Manda'lor were quite known. How much of it was true? I was unsure. Many times in my past, I had been invited to work with smaller groups of the Mandalorian culture. I was always intrigued by them.

I had been away from the galactic events for far too long. It seemed that I was needing to be called back into the wars that raged across the stars. With my returning to my allies, I decided that now was a better time than never to seek these people out. A while back Mandalore, the homeworld of these people, was destroyed? All I knew and heard of was a Civil war within the Mandalorian Clans that ended up with the Empire coming out on top. Knowledge of their... distaste for those who had an aptitude for the force was clear. I kept myself hidden within the force for that very reason. If they decided to test me in some variation, I didn't want to be exposed without my say so.

To play upon this, I had to leave my lightsaber out of the situation. Instead, I just carried my sidearm. That was the only weapon I had on me... well, if you counted the ring upon my middle finger... then I had two. However, that was only for last resort. Searching for these very people. Moving to one of the locals, I gently turned them towards me.

"Sorry, looking for my vod."

Mando'a, the very language that was uttered by the culture. I knew a little of it to speak very simple sentences from my limited time with the Crusades so long ago. Vod, the term for brother, sister, or Kindred. I used it while asking the local to seem authentic, and genuine. Considering I was more military looking, it would match. The half-buzzed man eyed me up and down then pointed to one of the buildings down the way.

"Down the uh... road a bit and on the right."
"Thank you."
"Glad to be part of the Empire now."
"Excuse me?"
"Yeah! They signed the treaty or documents or whatever."
"Glad to hear."

I didn't pay any more attention to the man while walking to the destination pointed out to me. So the celebration was in honor of some agreement between the populace of Obroa and the Empire. Good to keep in mind. However, that was not important at the moment. Walking to the entrance, I was about to walk in when another man walked out with some eye-candy upon his arms. They were both shambling off to have their "fun time." Giving them way, I held the door open for a moment to make sure I wouldn't run into anyone else. Entering myself, I saw a rather young man keeping the bar busy, and quite a few of the others in the area who I could clearly tell were part of this warrior culture.

Some had tatts, others wore partial armor, some official uniforms of some kind. I didn't keep my eye on any one person for too long as I slowly took more steps inwards. Eventually reaching the bar and sitting upon an empty stool. Leaning a little bit on the surface to adjust the credit chip out of my back pocket and onto the table. Waiting for the bartender to reach me.

No need to call on him as he seemed to be busy with a young child and their caretaker or parent. I had all night to find someone who could get me connected.

Vast swaths of white covered roof tops and city streets bellow. She could not help but watch the glow of moon light through falling snow. She had not been to Alderaan much personally. There was only one time when she was visiting her Grandmother [member="Faith Organa"] that she could recall it snowing.

Snow did not fall on Mandalore. There were images of Mandalore’s distant past that came to her mind. It was falling flakes of ash from volcanoes. It was not bitterly cold, like she felt right now. That distant past it was a dry heat that one could hardly breathe. A harsh environment you had to wear a air filtration mask to be able to breathe.

Kista was only sixteen when the first ash started to fall on the day most of her vod left the planet. Those who were stuck behind forced to find ways to live. A hungry person was a desperate person. Some lost their way and turned their back on their Manda. Vod fought Vod for what little resources were left. It was a tough world to grow up to be an adult in.

Things were different now. Life on Mandalore had improved. Those who had kept faith welcome their retuning kin. The Bio domes were back. It seemed as if the clans could reunite and be one again. Yes there was still was old wounds. Wounds tend to take time to heal, even the wounds of the heart.

To boldly alchemize what no one alchemized before
Upon arriving at the designated location, Petria realized that there was, in fact, no actual party at that place. Just that she was somehow brought in because they thought that HoldoWare would somehow sponsor a concert. And put it on the hook for any financial shortfalls of that event. So it was clear which cover she had to use for this operation. Hetzel Holdo. Because HoldoWare had to approve the plan before it could actually sponsor a concert, she would need to make sure their plan is sound. She had no intention of sponsoring a concert that didn't have a clear idea of how it is organized; for this reason she had to sit in on the meeting in its entirety. A few attendees, including Kotkaniemi, the student that called this meeting to order, a slicer known by the handle FX Guy and another slicer, whom Petria only knew by the handle Voice of Striker, were present, with the latter two eyeing the teenaged slicer as if either slicer wanted to bring her into their respective beds after this was said and done. Then again, Petria knew that female slicers came in highly variable shapes and forms, but that slicers tended to be less picky over looks than the average undergraduate male students of the same races.

"I'm calling the meeting to order. I have an important announcement to make. Well, you guys, we can have the Coup" Kotkaniemi shouted.

"What coup did we score this time?"

"The Coup, the Coup! You know, the heavy metal group, the Bloodless Coup! The good news is that they can come. The bad news is that they will be here in 18 days"

"No way, man, it can't be done. Why can't we put it off for a week or two?" FX Guy asked.

"Before we can actually say whether or not it's feasible in 18 days, what about we detail how long the steps can take? I hope you understand that you guys will be penalized if you fail to deliver the concert in that timeframe... and, if you can't reasonably deliver in that timeframe, HoldoWare is withdrawing its sponsorship"

Tom would smile as [member="Kaine Australis"] and Reyn came towards him. "Hey Reyn, guess what I set up for you. I have a little bit of building destruction set up, so you can shot guns if you want. We will head off soon. Don't tell Kaine until we get there okay." He hoped the small boy would enjoy that. "Uncle Kaine how are you? I am glad you finally got outta prison. Grab a couple of bottles. We are going to head somewhere else. For a surprise that you should enjoy." He would smile seeing someone at the end of the bar.

He would wander down. "What can I do for you, just tell me the bottle then you can come with us. We have a well activity planned while we are getting drunk. Better than nothing." He would hand a bottle over to the man [member="Atheus Voidwalker"], picking up several bottles himself. He did wonder what [member="Mykes Vatak"] had gotten to but in the end he could apologies later to his boyfriend.

He would lead the boys to a site surrounded by a fence. Inside where four buildings. On the ground just inside the entrance where a ton of weapons. Guns, swords, missile launchers and more. "Okay boys I had other things planned but because there is so little of us instead what we are going to do, is shot, blow up and destroy as much of the buildings and the rouge droids inside while drinking. The droids are dangerous muchhhh, but you should enjoy. You run out of bullets or alcohol, come back here we will give you more. Now go and destroy as much as possible." He would lean against the fence as most of the guys from the bar would select weapons and begin their rain of carnage.

Cynthia Sat in the limo rather quietly sipping the champagne that was inside. In fact she was surprised to see the Mand'alor had brought Adara to a all night bender. She was in a dress that had been bought by her. "You know, I kinda feel naked right now. I wish I was in my armor." She said under her breath feeling uncomfortable with some cloth covering a moderate amount of skin. Still she promised the others to have a good time. Cynthia had worked hard to save credits for her clan so that they could finally have a real camp and not moving place to place. It a way it was a load off her mind knowing everything was payed for. It meant letting loose was something she could do. It was just like that a shiver rolled up her spine again.

It was a strange feeling but one she ignored. "Just me or is it a lot quieter without the boys around? Like It's really nice."

Library of Antiquities it was this building that did not look like it would hold precious books it was quite plain.

She always pictured a library as grand with columns, and regal looking animals sitting in the front crouched into a protective stance. This...heck mynocks could easily be stuck to the walls and no one would notice.

Leilani headed inside what greeted her there made her smile. Now this was a library

harvard-university-canteen.jpg
She headed down the stairs she just couldn't take her eyes off the rows and rows holo novels all in this warm glow that made you want to sit down and read. If only she had the time. She could easily get lost in this place. She shook her head and promised herself to come back.

She headed to the desk where a droid stood waiting to be questioned, "Hi."

The droid's eyes lit up as it woke from its inactive state, "how may I assist you?" The voice was mechanical lacking the warmth that the room held.

"I"m looking for a rare book, it has this design on it, can you tell me where I can observe it." Observe, look, whatever the words where.

The droids eyes blinked a few times probably because it was looking through it's internal memory for the location. "One floor down to the right see the attendant."

Well security..how interesting, "Thanks." Leilani wandered around before heading down the formals stairway.

“Thanks [member="Stardust Bloodstone"]. Don’t give me too much credit, I wouldn’t be able to handle these little tykes without a couple of nannies, Bethy the babysitting older sister, amazing grandparents and a co-parent, who has more energy than half of Myrkr put together.” There Adara was, dancing and singing around. All Yasha could do was laugh as she enjoyed the time with her Mando’ade ladies. It was about time they all had fun.

[member="Shia Kryze"] seemed to bug out of her skin for a brief moment, something Adara said? There were a few moments Yasha recognized Shia’s discomfort around her daughter. At some point, Yasha thought maybe Auntie Shi-Shi might feel more comfortable spending some alone time with the girl. Bond.

Yes, that was it. She just needed to bond.

“I think that’s fair, you want first dibs on paintball colours, [member="Beth Australis-Mantis"]?” Yasha looked out the window, and saw the first location for their party come into view. [member="Cynthia Solus"] sipped champagne, and it was good to see one of her father’s former classmates and Ginnie Dib’s friends with the rest of the Mando’ade.

“I feel naked without the helmet… gosh, is my hair okay? Let the boys have their dull party, I’m sure ours will be better. Nice, indeed. Looks like we’re here. I think [member="Kista Bralor "]should already be inside.”

The Ladies were ushered out, into the foyer of an abandoned arts building covered in grey. Yasha glanced up at the building, and cocked her paintball gun toward the duracrete…

… As little Adara began to wander off… into the snow.

To boldly alchemize what no one alchemized before
"They're just starting their new tour and are looking for some warm-up concerts. They will eb traveling near Mando space for their first concert and saw the letter from us, so they said they could come now, but that's it: now or never" Kotkaniemi countered.

"We have to find a place; you know, get an auditorium somewhere. I've done that before, and it should take anywhere from two days up to seven days, most likely about four days" Voice of Striker shouted from the back of the room.

"We need to print tickets and quick. From my experience on Shusugaunt, it could only take a day if the printer isn't busy, but it could take up to four days if it is. It should probably take around two days, and yet we cannot print the tickets before we know where the concert will be because of the seating arrangement"

That, even though Petria remembered Shusugaunt more for inserting ink toner refills with ion bomb filling, or for her run-in with Janick, or for Griet saving both ladies' hides, than for actually getting any printing jobs done, she knew the printing machines were pretty standard. And that was before there even was a HoldoWare in the first place. On the board, the first two activities were written down but little they did know, was that printing the concert tickets was going to depend on more than simply securing the auditorium. Conversely a lot of activities were going to depend on securing the auditorium, too. Who's running the project management analysis? she thought, while downloading a free, open-source project management software into her datapad, and inputting the duration times as well as the predecessor activities of any new activity. Then she will see whether or not it is even feasible to stage their concert within 18 days. And, from there, see whether the sponsorship will actually be there for their concert, and hopefully see more sales of those password management systems or enterprise resource planning systems.

"We need to make hotel and transportation arrangements for the Coup and their entourage while they are here" FX Guy added. "But we'd better not do that until we get the auditorium"

"How long is it going to take to get the arrangements done?" Kotkaniemi asked.

"Oh, between three to ten days, five most likely"

Stardust couldnt help but listen around, smirking at everyone's comments as she sat back and looked to tasha as she spoke as she laughed and shook her head

hahahah yea beth is a great older sister! I'd trust brigh to her care.

She said and nodded to beth, then moved her look to cynthia as she smiled at her old friend. She would trust even her own life to cynthia, she has before and would again. She looked out ad the limo stopped, she helped brigh off her lap and to the ground as she felt the snow crunch beneath her feet as she looked up...snow...now this was some of the best stuff ever..she clocked the paint ball gun back and took a breath grinning

Meanwhile brigh watched the other little girl walking off, glancing to her mother she moved away to follow the girl...wondering why she was walking away from the group...

Beth booped [member="Adara Raxis"] on the nose as she asked where Baba and her lil' brother was. "They're spending some time together, so you, me, mom, and all of us can spend some time together! We'll see them later tonight." Beth could see that [member="Shia Kryze"] and Adara wasn't... Going to get along, with things. Or in life. Or really, probably in anything.

The party was going to be interesting. Paintballing a building seemed fun. Shia mentioned that Beth could get the first shot, which made Beth beam. She'd love to take the first shot! Granted, Beth herself was a little nervous about Shia - mainly, she was intrigued with the woman and wanted to know more about her skills. She had seen and trained with so many of the others around her, but she never really was able to learn more about her.

Stepping out into the cold to be ushered into the abandoned arts building, Beth wished she had worn something a little more... Warm. She had chosen a simple blue dress with a yellow jacket. And her shoes were definitely not made to be walking in snow, but she simply jumped behind in others footsteps. "I'll take all of the blues," she beamed happily. Of course, she was slightly joking. In truth, she would take whatever colors were given to her. She didn't want to hog colors to anything like that. "Your hair is beautiful, mom."

Beth gravitated slightly away from the group. She did want to get some books and she really wasn't sure how she was going to sneak away and get back in, unnoticed. Plus, there was a party in the building or upstairs or something? At least that's what it seemed like. Surely there was more to this party than just paintball in a dull, gray bottom floor. And, [member="Kista Bralor"] was supposedly already at the party. That meant there was a party already going on. Walking over to Yasha, "I thought we were going to be like... Inside." She made a motion to her outfit, which was... Well, not really suitable for cold, snowy temperatures.

Skorvek wasn't much of a social creature but when it comes to knowledge of any kind he would gladly tag along even if all he would be doing is simply reading or practicing, He took a handful of books that interested him and checked them out as he headed outside into the snow with them, He hated the cold but he will learn to adapt in the long run as he kept walking he noticed the small child [member="Adara Raxis"] walking around in the snow, He took note of the childs aura for a moment and made certain his was not repressed before walking right past her off to a secluded spot in the snow carrying a few books. He wondered if the child would follow out of curiosity or keep walking either way he had afew things in need of doing.
