Strengths:
High Payload: As a drone fighter without need for systems to sustain an organic pilot, the EF-B has extra space in its design that allowed for a significantly expanded payload, boasting eight proton bombs and eight proton torpedoes in addition to a pair of forward ion cannons. With significant destructive power per unit, a full squadron of these can be a serious threat to even larger ships.
Weaknesses:
Defenses: The EF-B possesses only a basic deflector shield on board, which provides limited protection from enemy starfighters, but can still be taken out with a single shot from ship-mounted turbolasers.
Electronic Warfare: As is common with all droid and drone units the EF-A is significantly vulnerable to ion and EMP weapons, even moreso as a drone unit as once its connection to the deployment point is severed, the unit is completely harmless until it is collected and repaired
With ship-to-ship combat being the norm in the galaxy, the need for high-yield bombers has always been evident. As a backup for ship-mounted weaponry, bombers can be deployed to threaten enemy ships at range and keep their attention elsewhere, even to the point of knocking out critical systems, and that is the exact purpose of the EF-B Drone Bomber. With a heavy payload in a design that allows for a large amount of fighters to be deployed at once, it can provide a serious threat to enemy ships when used in unison with starfighter escorts.
The EF-B possesses a serious amount of explosive firepower, containing two proton torpedo launchers, four proton bomb launchers, and two forward ion cannons for added disruption ability. Of course this high yield assault comes at the cost of defense, with the EF-B carrying only a basic deflector shield and durasteel-armored hull. While this can keep it moving forward in the face of a single enemy fighter for a very limited time, sustained fire or multiple assailants can quickly destroy a unit. The same can be said of turbolaser or dedicated anti-starfighter defenses, with a single shot from a turbolaser possessing enough power to punch right through the deflector shield and wipe out units.
With these weaknesses the EF-B units are recommended to be deployed with fighter escort in order to protect them long enough to reach their target. Should even a single unit get through, however, enemy ships are in for a deadly barrage.
