The ESRDS is an Emergence entity trumped by no other. It is the single most important designation in the Emergence Empire. The Emergence itself is a secular, technocratic state that values the betterment of Science and Technology over anything else. The 'Sector' is given the most attention and funding and is therefore responsible for the development of bleeding edge technology for the eventual use by all people of the Galaxy.
