Empire Ablaze

Fel_Palace.jpg

Empire Ablaze:
A cool wind chilled the air of the palace courtyard, it was filled with mourners and people of the capital, fearing what would come next. Grand Premier William Harris I, Head of government, War hero, and founder of the current government had been shot, he was critical and it wasn't looking up for him. What was left of the shattered empire he lead was in mourning and today was the day of the King's Coronation, along with the first time since the time of Toran that a monarch had lawfully ruled from the Fel Palace. King-to-be, Alexander I, sat at a bench next to the door of the balcony from which his address to the people and response to the crisis would be held. He shifted in his seat, waiting. Today would be a day to be remembered as long as the Fel Empire, in any fashion, exists as a sovereign state.

The military was unsuccessful in trying to apprehend Eric Linston, more commonly know as Deadeye. They had pursued him from the platform from which the leader was shot but lost him after he made an untraceable random jump. He was now wanted, and a full scale manhunt from the citizens, the 50,000 men from the Royal Army, and the Imperial Navy, was underway. The people were dedicated to cut the head from he who had slain their hero. The government, upon receiving a debrief of what happened, and seeing the unresponsive state of their leader, activated Article II Section III of the constitution and pushed forward the coronation of the King so he can fill his constitutional duty of preserving the empire and preventing further instability.

Aside from the fact that the king would take control of the government, today was also important due to the fact that this would be the first time that a new king of the Fel dynasty was not the son or daughter of the past ruler. Seeing as Toran had no children, it meant that the government had to dig to search for a new heir, and it didn't take long. So, King Alexander Fel I, and his wife, Soon-to-be Queen Maria Jane Fel were chosen and were now, with their children Prince Alexander II and Princess Maria II, the sole protectors of the Fel legacy. The tides have been set. The king chosen, the government decided, and now the Premier out of office. Recent events have caused a power vacuum, and now the system must be stress tested. Today is the day that decides the future of this unstable, disunited, and mourning, empire ablaze.

Alexander nervously tapped his foot. He sat in the hall looking up at the portrait of Toran on the wall opposite, holding his head with his hands by his chin. Quickly he sat up. He wasn't scared of the government, he had their backing, only woried on how the people would treat him, being an outsider king. He couldn't afford to think like this now, he looked left at the clock on the wall. It was almost time to go. Alexander looked down the hallway and seen a man walking down the hallway accomanied by two guards. He walked towards him and greeted him, sticking out his hand to shake. The man took it.

"My name is Dr. Johnathon Wiseman, I come from the hospital and I am the Premier's personal doctor, he will not be attending. In his current state, I can't even begin to predict when or if he'll ever regain consciousness. I've already reported to the council. This is your confirmation, you are in charge."

The king shook his head sadly and nervously began, "Thank you doctor."

The doctor shook his head and turned away and began walking back down the hall. Alexander turned towards the door and flicked his head forwards in a motion for the guards to move in front. Two guards in golden armor holding staffs pulled open the twin doors to the balcony. He stepped out, guards behind him.

As he stepped onto the balcony, he seen the thousands that had gathered for the first time. He scanned the crowd and seen multiple members of the government along with many of the people that had been on the mission, and in the far back was a detachment of the 1st Infantry Division, in two long columns. He easily lost his way scanning the crowd, there were people everywhere and a low rumble of voices filled the courtyard below. Discretely Alexander tapped at his ear and his com pad came on. He cleared his throat and the noise echoed throughout the courtyard. The people all stopped, a deathly silence fell over the crowd as they all began to look upwards at the king as he stepped into view.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I stand here today, sworn in as you king. Under the constitution I am to take control as Head of government in the absence of the Grand Premier. Let it be known that the man responsible for the shooting of our dear Premier will be found, and we will have justice. I am confident that the premier will recover, and I have personally visited him multiple times by now to discover no change in his condition since the event 2 days ago. I say we shall not mourn for our Premier, for he is not lost entirely, but instead to pray. Influential and beloved as he may be however, this crisis cannot halt our government in it's tracks. We are a nation of peoples who come together to project the shared goal of common greatness. We, the people of Osseriton shall seize the opportunity of this tragedy, and use this energy that has risen from us all to better our selves, our fellow man, and our country. Our nation will prosper, and we will rise above this great tragedy, we will once again have our place in the stars, we will be magnificent once more."

The king paused, breathing in and seeing the looks on the faces of the crowds below. He raised his arms.

"Our great nation shall not, no, we will not be destroyed due to the incident which has occurred. William Harris was a hero, yes, but he was also a man of principle, formality, and discipline. I am not saying you shall not mourn over what has happened to this great man. I am however saying that he is not gone entirely. He has a chance, and as long as he is alive, we shall not mourn, but we shall celebrate. Celebrate the fact that when a terrorist comes and tries to execute out leader, we come back and proudly avenge him. We shall celebrate for his life, for his accomplishments, and for this enthroned, parliamentary republic that we all live in. This is our home, and William Harris would be disappointed to see it come to a total standstill. That man wanted progress, growth, and most importantly, unity. We shall seize this monster of a crisis by it's bloody horns and yell to it that we will not submit to it's fury. For us as a people are strong! We are wise! We will avenge our Premier, and once again we will be great!"

The crowd looked up at the man. His voice echoed throughout the courtyard. For a moment it was dead silent. The people stared up, one man slowly began to clap, followed by another and another before the entire courtyard was ablaze with the thundering roar of clapping. Alexander confidently smiled and shifted once again.

"Ask yourselves as I have asked myself, will you let this crisis define you? Will you lay your worries in your government? The answer is a resounding no. Empires are built off crises and no empire has had a smooth start. This is our finest, and this is our worst to date. Situations like these determine not just the strength of the nation, but the strength of the individual. Ask yourselves once more, will you let this incident topple us, will you crumble in the stress. Ask yourselves really. We need to be all in, we need to transform this as a reason to push forward, for we are a chain, only as strong as our weakest link. And united peoples can achieve greatness. So I declare it to you all and to myself, I wish to achieve greatness, as do you. I ask you to stand with me, stand up. Push forward! Greatness is not granted, it is earned. We will fight to reclaim the greatness we once held. People will fear the name of the Fel Empire. We will bring balance to the galaxy, and the inhabitants of it. We are not weak, we will not be crush, we will not be destroyed. We are strong, we will stand tall above the challenges that face us and we will persevere. We will push forwards like our ancestors, we will push forward like and unstoppable object. Stand with me people of Osseriton, join me and reclaim our greatness!"

The crowd was alive with shouting and clapping, completely inspired. The speech had done it's job. The people were convinced, as was he. Tonight would be the formal coronation, and this would be an open event to those who could afford the entry price, and for those who couldn't, it was being broadcast around the planet, and to the fleet above. This was a time of change, and he would see to it that no disaster shall topple his mighty nation.

ES had the whole ESU squad here for protection although he may not be assigned security for this event he was not really asking these citizen's are his people and he will make sure there are no further attacks. They all had their DLT-19D Heavy blaster rifles and standard explosives and armor.

ES had been searching for the suspect who attacked the premier, he had chased him from one side of the galaxy to the other on his trail always just late, but he will slip up and ES will be there when he does. He listened to the speech watching the crowd he scanned everyone reading their body movements, and faces for past charges.

Lord Revere

Supreme Commander
Lord Revere marched past @ES-06. As he passed, he tipped his cap and smiled. ES looked up and watched as 10 guards in two rows marched behind him. Lord Revere was in fact Supreme Commander of the military, so this escourt wasn't completely strange, therefore nobody looked twice. Revere paused as the King-to-be finished his speach. Upon the conclusion, he clapped slowly among the crowd and then began walking around the outside of the crowd as the people began leaving the courtyard, he watched Alexander step back inside from the balcony and them looked back at his men.

"Time to move."

The men all loaded their weapons and then lifted and rested them on their shoulders. Revere marched up the left side steps next to the fountain and into the open halls of the royal palace. He marched passed a guard who nodded and looked the other direction, ignoring the large group. Lord Revere and his men marched down the hall, rounded the corner near a bench at the end of the hall and approached a small metal door labeled "Armory."

"Put your gear in here, keep the weapons on safety, but loaded if the situation gets frisky."

The men all poured into the door and placed their weapons on the shelves and swapped for holsters with handguns. As they finished, they began pouring out and lined behind Revere, he started forwards towards the Royal throne room.

As the men entered the throne room they seen Alexander standing in the middle, Revere told his men to stay put and walked up to him.

"Hello your majesty."

ES saluted his admiral as he walked up the stairs, without the command ES would stay put and watch the outside making sure no one fishy was entering or attempting a terrorist attack. ES reached up to his helmet turning on his squad's Encrypted COM link.

" ESU fan out keep a low profile watch for intelligence and report " their mask's scrambled their voice making it sound like a variety of clicks and buzzing noises.

Their armor came with built-in sensors, they had devices allowing them to hear conversations 5x further than human ears, ES's helmet had screens allowing him to see 360 degrees for being the commander the other ESU members do not share this modification.

Kalic calmly stood in the courtyard, listening to the newly appointed king of the Fel Empire. It was an odd thing for the spacer. To say someone was his king. Either way, he stood in the crowd with his T-21 in hand, and a band with the Empire’s logo on his shoulder. He really enjoyed being able to avoid the Imperial flight suit for a little longer. The Miraluka already knew why he disliked it. Too much plating for a flight suit, at least in his mind. He preferred the freedom his own suit gave him. Along with Daws was his trusty droid, G3-D9. The floating, spherical astromech helped the Force Sighted pilot spot any trouble that may be there. While Jee let out a whistle every now and then, neither her or Kalic could spot anything.

The speech made by Alexander Fel was an interesting one that Kalic the pilot honestly wasn’t sure how to respond to. While everyone around him applauded, the near-human stood steady. He was more worried about a man’s actions than his words, so he would hold his judgment until he knew what Fel planned on doing.

After the speech, Kalic and Jee made their way to the thrown room. He placed his heavy rifle in the armory as he pass, being sure to place it somewhere to keep anyone from being tempted to borrow the high powered weapon. He then walked towards to door, and nodded to ES-06. Kalic then pointing to the arm strap insignia to ensure he wasn’t chewed out for not being in his flight suit. It was then that Kalic noticed Lord Revere, the Supreme Commander, was also in the thrown room. Jee floated close and quietly whistled.

“(Bet you’re about to get called out.)”

"Why, hello Lord Revere," The king looked up from the tablet he was viewing and put the tablet at his back before shaking his hand. "I'd assume that is the security detail for my coronation tonight?"

"Yes it is, my most trusted guardsmen."

Alexander looked them up and down, they were in very unique armor. Silver armor with gold engravings and designs all about, like a knight of old. Each one wore their custom stormtrooper armor with an imperial insignia, again in gold, inscribed on their right shoulder, and short black cloaks covering their helmets and falling to mid-back. He smiled and nodded his head.

"They look good, very ornate. Are they good men?"

"Great soldiers, and like I said, my most trusted."
"Well good, I feel a lot safer now to have such good men guarding the ceremony. It's starting in about and hour, and people will be arriving soon, go get dressed into something nice, and have your men assume their positions."

"Of course, my king."

Alexander smiled and patted him on the back as Lord Revere moved past him towards a door at the opposite door. As Revere walked away and the men spread along the room, Alexander's smile faded. He looked up and saw ES along with an unarmed Kalic at the corner. He made eye contact with ES and quickly motioned for him and Kalic to come over. The men looked and began walking towards him.

Alexander spoke in a hushed voice as ES approached, "I don't need to tell you how important this event is. I want you and your men to double check around the palace. The recent power vacuum leaves me worried of some of the more unruly members of my council. I don't want anyone trying to do something stupid last minute, and I want anything strange to be reported to me right away."

He nodded at Kalic, ES had seen this man around in a few battles and was even at the first Fel Empire battle Kalic was a pilot and a good one, ES could see the skill the young man had even though he was blind. ES walked towards the King he listened and nodded, this time ESU squad was here and no one would harm or interrupt this event. ESU were sneaky they had top of the line training and equipment they were like a ghost and could disappear even in terrain like this.

" New order 3 of you break off gather intel on all ranking member of the Fel Empire, me and ES-09 will deal with crowd protection " his mask jumbling his words into clicks and beeps, protecting his squad's privacy was top of the list for ESU.

The king smiled and thanked him before turning and walking out of the room. The king walked down the long straight hallway before arriving at his personal chambers. As he entered he was greeted by the tailor.

"Here to make a couple very last minute adjustments."

"Alright, make it quick, the event is in an hour."

The tailor quickly sprung into action and within moments the ceremonial grey tunic was on him and the tailor was making measurements. The tailor would tug here or there, and then make a light chalk mark before moving on, and after about only 10 minutes, he was done. The king slipped into a robe temporarily as the tailor carried the uniform into the next room.

Before long, the king was dressing. In the distance the sound of people talking was faintly heard. It was time. The king walked to the glass case on his dresser and lifted the padding revealing the white gold crown of the fel dynasty. He placed it on his head and looked at the mirror. These were his last moments before his duties as king officially began. He had to get moving, the rest of his family was already gathered in the throne room.

The king entered the room full of people, the lights dimmed and people speaking. As he walked through the doorway, the room began to cheer and clap for their new king to be. The king marched right along the red carpet towards the steps to the throne. The people parted from the path and a hush fell over the crowd. Alexander reached the steps and stood before the archbishop of the local church of the force.

"Sir, Is your majesty ready to take this solemn oath?"

The king slowly nodded, then nervously started, "I am."

"Collect the book please your majesty."

The king rose and took the book.

"Place your hand on it."

Alexander did so.

"Now your Majesty. I will ask you a series of question, you will respond while your hand is planted firmly on that sacred text. Your are to answer each question severally and with total honesty."

"Okay."

The archbishop nodded.

"Will you solemnly promise and swear to justly govern the peoples of Osseriton and any other future possessions of your Majesty's empire and the territories to them belonging or pertaining, according to their respected laws and customs?"

"Yes, I will."

"Will you to your power cause Law and Justice, in Mercy, to be executed in all your judgements?"

"I will."

"Will you to the upmost of your power, maintain stability and true professionalism of your royal government? Will you to the upmost of your power maintain and enforce the laws of the Empire? And will you preserve unto the Bishops and Clergy of Osseriton, and to the Churches there committed to their charge, all such rights and privileges, as by law do or shall appertain to them or any of them?

"All this I promise to do."

Then the King arising completely, supported as before, the Sword of State being carried before him, shall go to the Altar, and make his solemn Oath in the sight of all the people to observe the premisses: laying His right hand upon the Sacred texts (which was before carried in the procession and is now brought from the Altar by the Arch-bishop, and tendered to him as she kneels upon the steps), and saying these words:

"The things which I have here before promised, I will perform and keep. So help me God."

Alexander, having taken the oath swiftly signed the paper and then moved to stand in front of the throne. The archbishop picked up the books and paper and walked them to a uniformed official of the royal archives. The man collected the items, turned and walked away, followed by two armed guards. The Archbishop lifted from his cloak a white gold baton with the name Alexander engraved into the top. He walked to Alexander and handed it to him.

"I believe this is yours, my king."

Alexander took it and smiled.

"Thank you."

The room erupted in applause and cheering.

Lord Revere

Supreme Commander
Revere Marched down the main hallway quickly, followed by the 10 men from before, they all had there weapons drawn. Revere rounded a corner and fired a dart from his wrist which silently killed a guard standing there. The throne room was just ahead and the coronation was almost finished. Revere walked to the doorway the grand doorway as the crowd erupted into applause and cheering. He seized the opportunity and stepped in the throne room behind the group of unsuspecting people and drew his blaster. He fired off a round into the air and the room silenced save for a few screams. As Revere's men stepped in, two guards moved forward and aimed before being shot down by the men with their heavy blasters.

"I apologize ladies and gentlemen for the slight... change of plans." Revere aimed the blaster at Alexander. "That man is no king, he is weak, and he will be the downfall of us all."

The room was frozen, nobody speaking.

Fel whispered into a commlink, "[member="ES-06"], Get down here."

Fel motioned forwards discretely by flicking his head slightly forwards and up. A guard who was hidden in the corner pushed an emergency button on his wrist. There was a green pulsing light followed by a light beep. Quickly the man stepped forwards. A guard adjacent did the same and two men fizzled in behind each of them. The extra guards, invisible up until this point quickly ran and skid across the floor, opening fire onto the group of traitors.

ES was down the hallway he watched as the men and the admiral walked by he did not feel right about that but he was unaware they were traitors yet, the other ESU squad member were coming into the building ES's COM went off from the King, he heard all he needed.

ES-06 burst down the hallway coming in from behind the traitors he unclipped his Vibro-blade turning it on he grabbed one of them lifting him by his neck and throwing him into the nearby pillar. Just then the other 4 ESU member came in and started chasing the traitors.

Kalic looked around in shock, as the man aimed at the newly crowned king. The Miraluka eyed the ten guards with the Military Commander. Heavy blasters. He let out a few light whistles in Binary, which prompted Jee to fly up to and use one of her few tools to zap one of the traitors, leaving enough of an opening for her friend to quickly take the heavy weapon and set his aim to the traitorous guards. He let some bolts fly, being careful to not fire on a civilian. Thankfully, the ESU showed up to help. Kalic then "eyed" Revere from the other side of the protective shields. If he could have shot the Supreme Commander he would have, but the traitors soon ran off, and Kalic turned to his droid. “Starcrest, now!” He and the droid then ran for the hangers, hoping that none of the rogues would catch their play.

Lord Revere

Supreme Commander
The squad opened fire on the men who were advancing. The bolts flew past them before the men grabbed batons from their belts. The men pushed a button on their batons and a personal energy riot shield flared up which absorbed serveral bolts. Revere fire off a few rounds and quickly pulled back his men.

"Get to the extraction point!"

Revere turned and charged down the hall. His squad followed behind him. As they ran towards an intersection in the hallway, a squad of fel storm troopers rounded the corner.

The fel sergeant turned, shocked. "Blast them!"

Revere dived backwards and fired. His men in their black uniforms advanced and gunned down the squad. One of the men knealt and grabbed Revere's hand.

"Come on, we got to move."

The man helped revere stand and quickly turned to see more Fel troops incoming.

"Sir, run for it, men, protect the supreme commander."

The man quickly dropped to the ground and lay his heavy blaster on a bipod, he pulled off his backpack and plugged it into the weapon propperly and squeezed the trigger. A volley of bolts began flying downrange from the proned mans gun.

Revere and the other men quickly charged out the front of the palace and fired at a group of troops who were advancing. The troops began falling to the ground.

"Backup, where the hell are you?"

A mumbled voice blaired over a radio. Revere looked up and seen a dropship flying towards them at high speed. followed by two bombers. The bombers flew over the palace and released their payloads as the dropship quickly dived down and the door opened. There was a woman in the fel uniform with a red sash around her arm firing a gatling gun out the side, she turned and looked at the men.

"Get in!"

The men climbed in and took off. The ship flew upwards and connected to a corvette just above the city. Explosions riddled the palace and the streets below. Hell had been unleashed on this once great empire.

The king watched as the traitors fled. The guardsmen with the shield lowered it and jogged up to the king.

"Are you okay sir?"

Two more men materialized behind him as they looked Alexander up and down.

"Yes, get them, I'm calling my guards to get these people out of here."

"Yes sir."

Alexander clicked a button on his wrist and then motioned the men off. He stood in front of the people who were worried and talking. He cleared his throat.

"I am so sorry ladies and gentlemen, I fear that this event goes further than just this palace, they were coordinated and planned. I declaring martial law as of this moment. Everyone stick with me and my men if you want to make it out of here. From here you are to report to your officers. Everyone here is trained and in the reserves, and now I personally call on you to defend your homes from tyranny."

The people were silent, still in shock.

"Lets move."

King Fel looked down the hallway and seen a group of guardsmen sprinting towards them.

"Sir, we have received word that Revere has just assaulted the parliament and that sections of the military are joining him."

"God damn. We need to get out of here, do you know any emergency evacuation tunnels for situations such as these?"

"I have just the place, follow me sir."

The guard moved forward and the king, along with the people followed him, all while the guards formed a diamond formation around them. The guard lead them to the armory and pushed aside weapons rack which revealed a dusty hand scanner. He quickly rubbed the dust off and pressed his hand on it flat. The pad beeped and a section of the wall slid open.

"Only a few people at a time can fit side by side, move."

"Thank you."

Alexander ducked his head down the narrow entrance and began down the pathway followed by the citizens who watched the coronation all while the guardsmen secured the entrance. After the last couple went through, the guards poured in and the commanding officer grabbed the section, sliding it closed manually. Alexander moved forwards in the darkness, one foot in front of the other until a light was spotted up ahead. Alexander darted towards the light and approached what appeared to be a metal grate. He pushed it forwards and it popped off. The beams of the sun blinded him as he exited. He looked around and heard nothing by the sound of flowing water, It took a moment for him to realize that he was at the palace fountain. He looked up as another pair of bombers flew overhead, releasing their loads. Alexander was lucky not to be hit by the first run, but now bombers were strategically aiming for the palace.

"Guardsmen!"

The man in light armor ran up, carnage rifle in hands.

"Yes sir."

"Did everyone make it through?'

"Yes sir."

"Good, send a call for the loyal officers to prepare." He turned and faced into the dark tunnel at the hoards of people. "Your officers will be in contact soon. Go home and get your weapons and uniforms on."

The people quickly dispersed. Alexander looked at the guardsmen. "Please call the Indomitable, let them know not to allow anyone aboard unless they have been heavily identified."

"Yes sir."

ESU retreated to their starfighters, making their way into space to the ESU Frigate where they refueled eating, resting etc in the meantime the king has declared martial law things in the Fel Empire were getting nasty. ES-06 went to the cockpit entering new coordinates and he entered hyperspace not sure how many men were corrupted.

Kalic and Jee soon found their way to the hangers and hopped into the Starcrest, quick starting her so that the traitors couldn't escape, or at least before they could be stopped. The fighter's engines screamed to live as she darted out of the hanger, giving itself just enough room as a bomb detonated nearby. The astromech let out a flurry of Basic whistles as she optic looked to the sky.

("Bomber! They're bombing the palace!") The agile Y-Wing was soon flown behind the closest group of bombers, and Kalic began practically screaming over the comm.

"Bombers, bombers! Abort run, abort run! There are civilians down there! Abort the rest of your runs or I'll be forced to!"

ES heard the calls of bombing the palace, he typed coordinates to the planet launching into hyperspace, next he ran to the hangar onboard the Frigate.

" ESU get to the hangar enter your starfighters, the palace is being bombed "

Climbing onto his starfighter he jumped into the cockpit waiting for the rest of his team, the Frigate piloted by a droid exited hyperspace above the planet. The droid opened the hangar as all five ESU member flew down to the surface to aid chasing off the traitor's bombers.

Lord Revere

Supreme Commander
first-order-transporter_2e0b9ea3.jpg

The landing craft slowly descended upon the parliament. The atmosphere inside the craft was complete tension, and Revere stood among the group of stormtroopers. The craft was loud with the noise of the thrusters powerfully blowing just outside, and their was a red glowing light hanging to the right of the ramp. The men stood facing the ramp all ready to go, maybe 20 in this vessel. Revere stayed in the way back as the engines loudened. The light turned green.

"Move!"

The men poured out of the lander, one squad forming a defensive circle while the other squad rushed through the mid gap towards the door of the old parliamentary building. This was where the council assembled and where the king made his decisions.

Revere stepped from the ramp and began walking up the stone walkway to the steps. He turned his head back for a moment, spotting the other two craft coming in for landings. He approached the door to the building and stood in front of it. The squad had split 5 on either side of the dual doored entrance. Revere stared ahead.

"Clear it of resistance, I'll be right behind you."

The door swung open and the troops quickly moved in, the other squad followed in suit quickly behind. The troops shot dead a group of unprepared guards and quickly stormed the main chamber. Revere marched in as his men moved to block the exits of the large circular room. Two men in black uniforms quickly followed behind Revere with briefcases and passed him, they quickly deployed jammers in the center of the room. Revere looked around at the council in the elevated pews of the circular room. As he reached the center of the domed room, the room silenced and the noises of terror ceased. Revere watched as the men blocked the door he had just come from. He smiled and motioned for the horrified politicians to sit.

"Gentlemen, I apologize for my sudden interruption. But it appears as though the government has made poor choice on our ruler, and the ex emperor's next of kin. I mean no disrespect to our dear leader William Harris, the man has done wonders and at one point seen himself in my very position. But I can assure you he is not saving this Empire by laying in a coma. The man you have chosen, Alexander Verzinski, cousin of Toran fel will prove to be nothing but a detriment to our society. He will hold us down in the turbulent events to come. He, unlike myself, will never restore our greatness. From this moment forth I declare myself Military Chairmen of Osseriton, and reaffirm my position as supreme commander of the military."

An older gentleman stood from the pews and pointed at Revere.

"You dog... We will never follow you!"

There was a mumble of agreeance among the council. Revere frowned in the center of the room.

"Fine, so be it. Men!"

Quickly a squad of men filed into a line and readied their weapons.

"Aim!"

The members of the council were still with fear. One man stood.

"Please, you don't have to-"

"Fire!"

The men unloaded a volley of bolts into the pews and the members of the council dropped.

"That'll teach them to oppose me." Revere turned to the sergeant of the squad. "Call Commanders Jackson and Louis. From this point forwards, this is the head of our government."

Revere walked to one of the sides where there was a window overlooking the city. Smoke flew from the palace and several other buildings as bomber attacked complexes only to be shot down by unorganized and shocked Fel defenses.

"This is the beginning of the end for the traitors."

Kalic eyed the bombers. They didn’t seem like they were going to stop anytime soon, so the pilot knew what he had to do. He aimed the main weapons at one bomber, while Jee aimed the turret at another. Kalic made sure to be careful with this shot. He tried to make sure he wouldn’t send a bomber into a civilian building. He’d have to pound them until he detonated their payload! The Miraluka took a breath, then pulled the trigger tight, followed by his astromech triggering the turret to fire. The Starcrest sent two streams of fire at a pair of bomber, holding out the attack until both were reduced to smoke clouds.

The pilot continued this tactic, trying to keep each target from ever hitting the ground. He hadn’t loaded any missiles or torpedoes to his Flextubes, and even if he did he wouldn’t use them. They were too close to the city to risk it. Kalic soon looked up though to see a very familiar group of fighters. The pilot quickly gave a “wing wag” as he called out to the ESU pilots.

“Great timing guys! Thought I’d have to clean the skies on my own.”
