Alexander nervously tapped his foot. He sat in the hall looking up at the portrait of Toran on the wall opposite, holding his head with his hands by his chin. Quickly he sat up. He wasn't scared of the government, he had their backing, only woried on how the people would treat him, being an outsider king. He couldn't afford to think like this now, he looked left at the clock on the wall. It was almost time to go. Alexander looked down the hallway and seen a man walking down the hallway accomanied by two guards. He walked towards him and greeted him, sticking out his hand to shake. The man took it.
"My name is Dr. Johnathon Wiseman, I come from the hospital and I am the Premier's personal doctor, he will not be attending. In his current state, I can't even begin to predict when or if he'll ever regain consciousness. I've already reported to the council. This is your confirmation, you are in charge."
The king shook his head sadly and nervously began, "Thank you doctor."
The doctor shook his head and turned away and began walking back down the hall. Alexander turned towards the door and flicked his head forwards in a motion for the guards to move in front. Two guards in golden armor holding staffs pulled open the twin doors to the balcony. He stepped out, guards behind him.
As he stepped onto the balcony, he seen the thousands that had gathered for the first time. He scanned the crowd and seen multiple members of the government along with many of the people that had been on the mission, and in the far back was a detachment of the 1st Infantry Division, in two long columns. He easily lost his way scanning the crowd, there were people everywhere and a low rumble of voices filled the courtyard below. Discretely Alexander tapped at his ear and his com pad came on. He cleared his throat and the noise echoed throughout the courtyard. The people all stopped, a deathly silence fell over the crowd as they all began to look upwards at the king as he stepped into view.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I stand here today, sworn in as you king. Under the constitution I am to take control as Head of government in the absence of the Grand Premier. Let it be known that the man responsible for the shooting of our dear Premier will be found, and we will have justice. I am confident that the premier will recover, and I have personally visited him multiple times by now to discover no change in his condition since the event 2 days ago. I say we shall not mourn for our Premier, for he is not lost entirely, but instead to pray. Influential and beloved as he may be however, this crisis cannot halt our government in it's tracks. We are a nation of peoples who come together to project the shared goal of common greatness. We, the people of Osseriton shall seize the opportunity of this tragedy, and use this energy that has risen from us all to better our selves, our fellow man, and our country. Our nation will prosper, and we will rise above this great tragedy, we will once again have our place in the stars, we will be magnificent once more."
The king paused, breathing in and seeing the looks on the faces of the crowds below. He raised his arms.
"Our great nation shall not, no, we will not be destroyed due to the incident which has occurred. William Harris was a hero, yes, but he was also a man of principle, formality, and discipline. I am not saying you shall not mourn over what has happened to this great man. I am however saying that he is not gone entirely. He has a chance, and as long as he is alive, we shall not mourn, but we shall celebrate. Celebrate the fact that when a terrorist comes and tries to execute out leader, we come back and proudly avenge him. We shall celebrate for his life, for his accomplishments, and for this enthroned, parliamentary republic that we all live in. This is our home, and William Harris would be disappointed to see it come to a total standstill. That man wanted progress, growth, and most importantly, unity. We shall seize this monster of a crisis by it's bloody horns and yell to it that we will not submit to it's fury. For us as a people are strong! We are wise! We will avenge our Premier, and once again we will be great!"
The crowd looked up at the man. His voice echoed throughout the courtyard. For a moment it was dead silent. The people stared up, one man slowly began to clap, followed by another and another before the entire courtyard was ablaze with the thundering roar of clapping. Alexander confidently smiled and shifted once again.
"Ask yourselves as I have asked myself, will you let this crisis define you? Will you lay your worries in your government? The answer is a resounding no. Empires are built off crises and no empire has had a smooth start. This is our finest, and this is our worst to date. Situations like these determine not just the strength of the nation, but the strength of the individual. Ask yourselves once more, will you let this incident topple us, will you crumble in the stress. Ask yourselves really. We need to be all in, we need to transform this as a reason to push forward, for we are a chain, only as strong as our weakest link. And united peoples can achieve greatness. So I declare it to you all and to myself, I wish to achieve greatness, as do you. I ask you to stand with me, stand up. Push forward! Greatness is not granted, it is earned. We will fight to reclaim the greatness we once held. People will fear the name of the Fel Empire. We will bring balance to the galaxy, and the inhabitants of it. We are not weak, we will not be crush, we will not be destroyed. We are strong, we will stand tall above the challenges that face us and we will persevere. We will push forwards like our ancestors, we will push forward like and unstoppable object. Stand with me people of Osseriton, join me and reclaim our greatness!"
The crowd was alive with shouting and clapping, completely inspired. The speech had done it's job. The people were convinced, as was he. Tonight would be the formal coronation, and this would be an open event to those who could afford the entry price, and for those who couldn't, it was being broadcast around the planet, and to the fleet above. This was a time of change, and he would see to it that no disaster shall topple his mighty nation.
