Jason nodded his agreement and started back the way they came. When he reached the carbonite block, he began searching for the bar coding.
“They usually put the bar code on one end so that it would be exposed when they stacked these in a ship’s hold.” He found the code where he expected it; laser cut in to the carbonite itself rather than stamped on. He scanned it and looked at the display.
“Contents: Spin-sealed Tibanna gas like we expected. The Cloud City Guild is listed as the production unit and Mandalore is the destination,” he told her as he walked around the block of carbonite. The local destination on Mandalore didn’t mean anything to him, but, the mention of his birth world made him think of his father and gave him a twinge of regret. “Probably for their war machine,” he said more subdued.
He sighed and said, “Shall we head down?” He hurried back to the stairwell and opened the firedoor. Inside, he leaned over the railing trying to see how far down they had to go. The depths of the stairwell were concealed by a hazy darkness.
