STANDARD FEATURES
- The Enigma-class is outfitted with all the features and facilities one would expect from a vessel of its size and purpose, including advanced sensors and communications suites. Due to its customisable nature, the exact specifications will wary from vessel to vessel.
Strengths:
- Passing Shadow. While not as reliable as true stealth, the combination of a Nightshadow-coated hull and a thrust trace dampener is able to fool conventional senors into reading nothing but empty space, though it does nothing to hide the ship from visual observation or dedicated anti-stealth sensors. That being said, the Enigma-class is unable to use its impressive mobility to its full extent without risking detection by overwhelming the thrust trace dampeners.
- Passing Shadow. Intended for surveillance, recognisance, and the like, the Enigma-class is practically unarmed, with its almost fifty-metre frame packing less firepower than the average SI-TIE. What armaments it does carry is split between rapid-targeting light laser cannons and a small complement of warheads, the latter being used primarily to eliminate enemies of the state while maintaining plausible deniability.
- Exposed Nacelles. While the Enigma-class is capable of both subluminal and hyperspace travel using only its main drive, it needs the nacelles to reach High speeds or above. Furthermore, their destruction could easily cause a small cascade effect, further crippling its impressive mobility.
Watcher, Interrogator, Executioner. The roles and duties of the Saaraishash's operatives were many and varied, but all served a greater purpose. All were cogs in a vast apparatus meant to preserve the Sith Empire by whatever means necessary. There were those among its ranks that went about their business in the light of day... and there were those whose dealings were best left in the shadows.
It was this latter group for whom the Engima-class was designed.
Featuring a streamlined look yet bearing no identifying markings, the Enigma is designed to avoid notice whenever possible. With its hull sporting a layer of advanced anti-sensor coating and its engines modified to be all but undetectable except under intensive use, the vessel is purpose-built to appear as but a passing shadow to most forms of senrors. Aside from being visible to the naked eye, it can also be detected by dedicated anti-stealth sensors, such as crystal gravfield traps.
To aid in its covert duties, the Enigma is designed to operate for long periods of time without needing to resupply; even when supplies are needed, this is usually handled through secret depots and drop-off points. Finally, the vessels needed to be as varied as the agents and duties of the Saaraishash itself, and thus features a high degree of customisability, though the core systems tend to remain the same. These vessels have, for instance, been used as everything from mobile surveillance stations with equipment for two dozen surveillance specialists to operational bases and even mobile residences for Inquisitors.
Due in equal parts to the need for its design to remain secret and its high cost of production, the Enigma is unavailable, and indeed largely unknown, to the greater Empire, let alone the Galaxy at large. Still, even an organisation as dreaded as the Saaraishash cannot prevent the flow of gossip, only do their best to distort it until truth becomes mere legend, fact indistinguishable from fiction.
