Enigma Prime - Setting out where no man has gone before (Phase 3, Setting Up Shop)

ENIGMA PRIME

66221.jpg

Ice was sitting has his work station focused on a project, when a holo image appeared of his secretary. "Sir! The data on some of the exploration probes you sent out have returned. One I am told, has information you would particularly care to see. Shall I transmit the data to your data pad now?" Normally, he would have been slightly annoyed. He never liked loosing his focus on a project that was making good headway. However, he had been anticipating these particular results for a while now. "Yes please, send it now." Ice said neutrally.

As his eyes scanned the data, most was dismal at best. His eyes narrowed in curiosity when he finally got the the probe that was referred to. "Rare element detected." It said. Clicking on it to pull up the details. His eyes almost instantly widened in shock. Wasting no time, he instantly closed down his project and starting making preparations to visit the planet. Any and all data that was brought back by this single probe that wasn't on his data pad was purged the second it had been transferred over.

Taking a moment to calm his excitement, he sent another message to his secretary. "Thank you for taking care of the transfer. Turns out it was a false alarm. But thank you non the less. Please have all future data from the probes just directed straight to my data pad. We've been waiting a long time for this data. I'd like it available for viewing immediately more probe data comes back. Thanks again." All of his companies offices, R&D labs, and even manufacturing equipment were all aboard the cube ships he had built by Mandal Hypernautics. Although it was impossible for people to hack into his systems....well nearly impossible anyway. They'd have to first figure out a way to get on board a ship with no open hangar bays, tough security protocols for docking via docking tube, and then hack into systems after bypassing software security firewalls. All while avoiding security patrols. Still technically possible though. So he took no chances with leaving data like this on anything but what he kept close. Besides, employees could be bought off if their identities were ever discovered. "Better safe than sorry." He mumbled to himself as he began scouring the galaxy for what he'd need.

It was then he stumbled onto an auction being hosted by one of his favorite companies. Again, it was Mandal Hypernautics, and his increasingly familiar business associate Captain Larraq. "Hmm. Let's see what we can pull out of this."

With the auction over, Ice was ecstatic over what he had managed to pick up at extremely low cost. It was now time to finish up with his deals. He sent one of the three [SIZE=14.4444446563721px]Kyrvhetine Class Mobile Mining Facilities to [member="Aedan Miles"] after he had paid for his portion of the purchase price along with a note. "It was a pleasure doing business with you my friend." He then sent a message through the man that had been standing beside him during the auction who had been the messenger for [member="Alli Wren"] . "Please meet me on Libertalia as soon as you can. Our joint venture has many details to be ironed out quickly. I thank you in advance for a speedy meet up appointment."[/SIZE] After making good on his promises to others during the auction, he went about sending [member="Captain Larraq"] a new message.

"Captain Larraq,

I hope the times are treating you well. I wished to send you this letter to thank you for hosting the auction, and to send my compliments on your extremely well made equipment. It is also on this note that I as well as a business associate wish to make an additional purchase. After inspecting in person the items I had won from your auction, we wish to purchase the following items:

x5 Kyrvhetine Class Mobile Mining Facilities
x6 Concordance Class Asteroid Mining Barge

If this order is too large, I understand. But I would at least like the five mobile facilities if at all possible. The 651,100,000 credits will be tranferred into your account as soon as the order has been confirmed. Thanks. Looking forward to doing more business with you.

Best Regards,

Ice
CEO and Owner of Shadow Tech Industries, SolaraTron Industries, & Libertalia"

With those messages away, he looked to see what else would need to be done with this large project he was now undertaking.

While Ice waited for @Captail Larraq to respond, he also sent a message to the [member="Mrrew"] and the Beast Hunter's guild. Scanners after all had reported the planet was biologically active. As such, Ice thought it would only be prudent to hire the galaxies best animal hunters and trackers to protect the expeditionary force against animals.

"Greetings Mrrew,

My name is Ice. I am CEO of Shadow Tech Industries. I do believe you and your group were our first major customers. So it is a pleasure to meet you again.

The purpose of my message though, is to see if the Beast Hunter's Guild would be interested in sending a few of it's members along with an expedition I am forming, to explore a newly discovered world. Their main purpose would be to keep my workers safe from the local wildlife. A secondary objective though would be to capture any interesting biology that might be worth scientifically studying later. Your thoughts on the matter would be most appreciated.

Best Regards,

Ice
CEO and Owner of Shadow Tech Industries, SolaraTron Industries, and Libertalia"

Again, Ice went back to looking at who else he could contact to ensure the success of this voyage.

Mrrew's seceratary droid had informed him that there was something that needed his attention, so Mrrew himself rather then the secretary that usually took care of incoming orders viewed [member="Ice"]'s holorecording. He wanted hunters for an expidition? Heh. He wanted bodyguards. To make sure Rancors and the like didn't eat his scientists. Mrrew shrugged. Perfectly doable- and more money for the Guild. Just how much money, though... Mrrew replied with a message of his own.

To: Ice
From: Mrrew, CEO of the Beast Hunter's Guild

We are interested in assisting in this expidition, but there are several variables that must first be addressed. First off, what forms of creatures are you expecting to encounter? How many hunters will we need to bring? And how much will you be able to pay the Guild?

~Mrrew

Mrrew leaned back in his oversized chair, making sure he would get a notification when his message was replied to. This could be interesting...

[member="Mrrew"]

A response was quickly sent.

"To: Mrrew
From: Ice, CEO of STI & SI

Well we have 7 groups of around 10k in each group going to the planet we have in mind, so far. Though granted this might change before we leave. We will be hiring a small army worth of men for protection. But what I desire, is one or two representatives for each group to act as advisers in how to handle any local wildlife in their respective areas. One group though I wish to help with an exploratory group which I'd meant to explore the planet and areas we haven't already designated as mining targets. This group will be responsible for discovering valuable new locations, and capturing interesting wildlife which might benefit the company via medical or some other scientific research.

Ice"

Ice smiled at the quick response. He was always pleased when people were on top of things and didn't make him wait for unreasonable lengths of time.

To: [member="Ice"]
From: Mrrew, CEO of the Beast Hunter's Guild

Fourteen hunters? That can be done. How much are you willing to pay? And do you have any idea what type of xenofauna you're expecting?

~Mrrew

Mrrew kept his messages short- just asking the questions he needed answers to. This could certainly be profitable if done correctly...

[member="Ice"]

It's inappropriate to try and using another writer's thread as your development thread without speaking to them first.
Only tier 4 and higher companies have the resources to operate Concordance-class Mining Barges.
Company Rules
3. Companies may own and operate a realistic amount of non-combat starships where maximum length per ship = ( Tier Number x 1000 ) / 2
4. Companies may own and operate a realistic amount of combat starships where maximum length per ship = ( Tier Number x 1000 ) / 3 and maximum fleet length = ((Tier Number x 1000) x (Tier Number)) / 2

Rygel Larraq was not fond of being interrupted by individuals from his sales department, but every once in a while an order came through that appeared... sketchy. STI and SI were fairly new companies, both of which where fairly small. Collectively neither company had made much in the way of ripples in the corporate community, though Larraq seemed to recall doing a bit of business with them recently. The issue, was not in who they were, but in how much they wanted. Six 1,600 meter long mining barges were, quite simply, beyond the capabilities of either company to effectively manage. Even one such ship would be beyond their capability to manage.

The Mobile Mining Factories, however, were well within the capabilities of STI to effectively manage.

Dear STI Representative...

At this time, Concordance-class Mining Barges are on backlog. Your request to acquire a number of these rare and expensive vessels has been noted and will be processed in due time. For now though, your order for five
Kyrvhetine Class Mobile Mining Facilities has been accepted. You can expect delivery of product to be completed within five to twelve standard business days.

Sincerely; Mandal Hypernautics management

Ice was pleased to see messages all coming back so quickly.

To: [member="Mrrew"]
From: Ice, CEO of STI and SI

My apologies. I thought I answered this last message. The type of xenofauna is unknown, though we have detected larger species. Best prepare for large, angry, hostile beasts. If opposite is true, we can be pleasantly surprised. As for fees, I should be asking you that. What do you feel is appropriate for 14 hunters for an extended trip? Say up to 1 local year. (approximately 5 standard years) This contract can be fulfilled by multiple hunters rotating out if necessary. Though members staying for duration will be granted an extra bonus. (TBD) All transportation, food, shelter, ammunition, repairs, and medical needs will be provided by us.

Then the next message went out.

To: Mandal Hypernautics Management
From: Ice, CEO of STI and SI

We understand. Thank you for what you are able to provide us. The 75 million credits are being transferred immediately. A pleasure doing business with you as always.

With both messages away, he waited for his contact with the Beast Hunter's Guild to respond. So far, the evening had been quite productive. Everything seemed to be falling in line quite smoothly. Hopefully, that meant the expedition itself would go as well.

Mrrew grunted as he read Ice's message. It was always best to ask the other guy what price they ahd in mind first, if possible. If it wasn't high enough, you could always state your price. But there was always the chance it could be higher. In this case, that wouldn't work, it seemed. Loaning out his hunters for five years? Rotating would definitely be the way to go. What kind of expidition would take Seventy thousand people five years? And seventy thousand people just to explore a new planet? Ten people with good ships could accomplish that... But Mrrew wasn't goingt o complain. This was good credits. Large, angry, hostile beasts? That's what the Guild was for.

To: [member="Ice"]
From: Mrrew, CEO of the Beast Hunter's Guild

The Guild can handle any xenofauna needed. Hunters will be taking enough equipment to bring down Leviothons. Five years? 5,000 a standard month, per hunter. The Guild will take care of your men.

~Mrrew

Since the expidition was already paying for food, ammunition, shelter, and medical care, Mrrew only needed to compensate the hunters for having to fight who-knows what- so five thousand a month was plenty. He was curious what they would be facing, though... Maybe he could head to the expidition for a month himself. Could be interesting.

Ice looked over the guild leaders' latest message. A smile came to his face as he noted the fee. "5,000 credits a month per hunter? That's....not to bad at all. Let's see. That would come out to...five thousand times fourteen times sixty months...4.2 million credits over 5 years...for their expertise. Wroth every credit!" He said to himself after doing the math.

To: [member="Mrrew"]

From: Ice, CEO of STI and SI

That rate is more than fair. Because of this, we'd like to offer a 25,000 credit bonus for any hunter who stays the entire 5 year tour. We value experience here at STI. And we hope this bonus will entice some of your men to keep their experience both with outside species as well as the local fauna where it will benefit our people. Now for the details.

The planet we are going to is classified. As such, all hunters will be required to submit to both themselves and all their equipment being scanned and searched. For both safety and security reason of course. We will have scheduled transports going to and from the planet fairly regularly. So switching out hunters that don't wish to stay for the whole tour should not be a problem. We'll just simply need a schedule for each so we can plan them into the drops. We will also provide a docking space for any hunters who bring their own ships to the dispatching location.

Communication with the outside galaxy is also strictly monitered. Actual active communication is not possible. Only recordings can be made and then sent out after review. We apologize for these extreme measures. But due to the nature of our business enterprise, it is regrettably necessary.

Lastly, we would like to invite you on the expedition as well. Your reputation as an excellent hunter as well as the leader of your guild has proceeded you. As such, we would like to offer you 25,000 credits a month for as many months as you will agree to stay.

[member="Mrrew"]

Mrrew smiled as he read the message. Heh. He'd get credits to go ont he expidition., when he was already interested? Fair enough. He wasn't sure about the 'no communications', though... What where they doing? And why did they need 70,000 people..? Hmm. It was certainly suspiciuos... But if his credits were good...

To: [member="Ice"]
From: Mrrew, CEO of the Beast Hunter's Guild

I will find the hunters needed. Be warned that a small amount extra may be required if the Hunters are required to face anything ecpecially deadly, such as Leviothons and the like. Other then that, your terms can be met. We will send our most expirienced Hunters whenever possible. I am curious, however, why constant communication is not allowed.

As far as attending myself, I would be happy to accept your offer. However, I will be bringing my own ship.

Is there anythjing else I should know, before contacting my hunters?

~Mrrew

An eyebrow raised as there was mention of an extra charge if they faced anything particularly deadly. Hadn't he mentioned prepare for the worst, and was then quoted a price? Well, if it wasn't too much, he wouldn't mind. It wasn't like he was hiring an army. Still, it was kind of an odd addition since he had been up front about possible conditions in the first place.

To: [member="Mrrew"]
From: Ice, CEO of STI and SI

Before we sign our contract then, I would like to know what additional fee would be required if something especially dangerous is encountered. In light of STI providing everything else for the hunters gratis that is.

As for the communication requirements. That is on a needs to know basis. Once we have signed our contracts, and you and your men have signed NDA's, I will be more than happy to discuss the situation. I am sending the contract, along with the NDA's over with this communique now. Please fill them all out when you have the chance, and then I will fill you in on the more sensitive details of this mission when we depart.

As for your ship...We might be able to work with you on that, providing you can work with us. We will require a couple representatives on board you vessel to ensure coordinates entered are not copied, and then purged from your systems after we arrive. They will also need to be there when you decide to leave for the same reasons. Otherwise, you can simply hitch a ride with us on our transports if this is not acceptable. Please let me know which would be more preferable to you.

I am delighted to hear you have decided to join us as well. It should be a good trip.

Ice then began sending a message to Hyperion Consulting. He would be needing a very particular contract that his own people have not had a chance to make yet. So considering the importance, he wanted to make sure it was done right. In essence, he wanted an ironclad contract that in no way could be broken legally.

To: Hyperion Consulting
From: Ice - CEO of STI and SI

Greetings,

I am looking for a contract to mining rights for my company and was hoping Hyperion Consulting would be able to help. The details of who, where, and what resources, I would like left blank so I can fill those in later on my own.

But the contract I would like to say is that my company will have exclusive rights to mine any and all resources on a world I will designate later. I will also require this planet to be under the protection of this same group which I will again, spell out later. The security being provided will be against raiders, invaders, and any other threats to the mining operations of said planet. In exchange, this group will have access to an as of yet, undetermined percentage of the gained resources in either material and/or profit.

Please let me know if this is enough detail, and if you will or will not in fact be able to write up the contract for us. Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,

Ice

[member="Captain Larraq"]

(I might have worded that wrong, I meant extra if you directly send them to capture anything incredibly dangerous. If they're just defending the group or giving advice then it's the normal price.)

To: [member="Ice"]
From: Mrrew, CEO of the Beast hunters Guild

Just a small fee of a few hundred credits for particularly dangerous animals the hunter is sent out for. Nothing extravagent. I will sign the contract after we finish here, and alert the hunters of a job oppurtunity. Your representitives will be allowed on board my ship as they like- provided my droid can stay there at all times, in order to make sure unrelated information is not tampered with, and items are not removed from the ship without permission. I am sure you understand.

~Mrrew

(Ah ok now worries. Ya no big deal. Just making sure I wasn't missin' something :) )

It sounds like we have an accord. Those are both perfectly acceptable conditions. Rendezvous point will be at Libertalia space station in 2 weeks. I'll see you there. In the mean time, good hunting.

I'll see you in two weeks, and in the meantime I'll gather hunters. Thank you for choosing the Beast Hunter's Guild.

MAIN DOCKING BAY
Time: 00:00

The two weeks had gone by in a flash it seemed. Course having to get so much set up an organized tended to make time fly. In the dead of the night when most all of the guests were asleep or beginning to wind down, the docking bay was abuzz with activity. Outside of Libertalia space station, a small fleet of ships were being loaded with supplies and equipment for the long expedition. Most of the men and woman being loaded on board would not be back for 5 years! They didn't know it at the time. But some would never come back at all.

The atmosphere through the docking bay was hurried to say the least. It was a long trip, and a lot had to be done in very short order. Security stations had been set up and people by the thousands were be scanned, their belongings searched for any contraband or things that might compromise the security of the mission. Amidst the chaos of of equipment being loaded and people scurrying about, Ice stood off to the side watching happily. So far everything had been going quite smoothly. He was now waiting for the members that would form his primary exploratory team.

Ice had already set up a security checkpoint so his chosen team would not have to deal with the swarms of other workers that were to be going along. Especially since some people tended to have a problem with others. Now to wait and see who would show up first.

[member="Ice"]

Lauren had dropped all her personal items off with [member="Ice"], and was instead off ordering workers around. "No not that many bandages, I won't have room for the Ugh no just give me exactly what I asked for, we both know you made a mistake, lets not make a deal out of it and lets just fix it. Ok? Now I will pretend I didn't see you come out with 5 crates of classe 3 bandages when I only asked for 3. " She sighed and watched the man grumble and carry half the load back. Lauren was running the loading of the medical supplies with an iron fist, most likely Ice would of heard about it because no one was happy about just how close she paid attention to detail. "There we go, glad to see you found the supplies. " She began inspecting them to ensure the boxes were what they said they were. So far everything was in order. She went through her clip board. " Well that is the last of it, thank you everyone, you will all find a basket with your name on it full of some baked goods I made last night." She said to the loading crew who helped her with the medical supplies. The truth was that she could barely sleep or sit still the night before and baked to do something other than worry. She made her way over to Ice and giggled. "Medical Officer Lauren Walsh reporting for duty, everything is loaded and set to go!"

Saki was called upon to fly a exploration mission, being excited she literally got barely got sleep but enough that it mattered for her, she approached ice AMD saluted joking and yet half seriously"commander your pilot is ready to fly you to your destination "she said and looked over to [member="Lauren Walsh"]" good evening names Saki I'll be your pilot for the entire trip "she held out her hand
[member="Ice"]

Nei Laa

Grumpy cat? No no no -- grumpy squid!
[member="Ice"] [member="Lauren Walsh"] [member="Saki lin"]

Nei walked into the docking bay, everything she needed in one big bag, which would be: An extra pair of clothes, her armour cleaner and repair kit, a cleaning and repair kit for her pistols, and the rest of the space was filled with all of the extra ammo packs she could find. Oh, and maybe some food and flares. Maybe.

She knew that this would be a five-year journey, and as such had scrounged up the necessary funds for someone to take care of her ship. And hey, if she got back early, no biggie; Nei would simply get a refund, or use the guy as a punching bag. Whichever happened first.

Catching sight of Ice and two other females, the Nautolan walked over and dropped her bag on the ground. "I be paid for this, right?" While Nei was in it for the fun, she was also in it for the money and was prepared to leave if Ice thought she would do this for free. Though, she couldn't begin to imagine how much he'd already paid. Meh, his problem.

If there was one thing that bothered Keira, it was crowds. Normally they were tolerant, but not when everything was in such a state of disarray and overall rushed along. Not only was it frustrating to her regularly, but with the added benefit of the Force the claustrophobic atmosphere only increased. Sometimes she wondered why she even bothered, but once she spotted [member="Ice"] through the crowd, her mood brightened considerably. The only other individual she recognized was [member="Nei Laa"]. The other two females were foreign to her.

As per usual, her lightsaber was clipped at her waist, the only thing unusual about her being the large luggage bag she carried with her. Along with the necessities it had the odd precautionary weapon as well. One could never be too careful, especially considering the syndicate she ran with: the ever infamous Red Ravens. Their notoriety had increased lately, but this wouldn't be another hit on one more faction, or even necessarily a combat mission. They were to explore, more specifically the planet of Enigma Prime.

Flashing a grin she set her bag down by her feet, glancing to those who had arrived previously before looking to Ice. "Keira Ticon, present and ready. Time to get this show on the road, yeah?"
