Enigma Prime - Setting out where no man has gone before (Phase 3, Setting Up Shop)

Logan walked into the giant room and he glanced around, searching for [member="Ice"]. His eyes caught a glimpse of the man before he disappeared behind a long line of workers. He pushed throw the massive crowd of people, getting many shifty glances and death stares. His heavy bag was thrown over his shoulder and he looked as if he had just rolled out of bed, his long blonde hair not sleeked back as it always was, the thick laces of his boots not tied properly, and his clothes slightly askew. He yawned loudly as he made his way toward Ice, stretching his tight muscles. Truth be told, he wasn't sure what to expect from this campaign of sorts. This wasn't the line of work he was used to. He figured that there wasn't going to be very many people shooting back, but rather animals prowling just out of sight, waiting for an opportunity to pounce and strike. He grinned slightly as he neared Ice and the 4 women.

"Ah, there you are Ice. Was afraid I lost you in the crowd. I doubt their gonna let me through without your permission." Logan nudged at the bag with his foot, the distinct sound of metal clinking softy before being smothered by heavy cloth. "Who are these lovely ladies you've recruited as well?"

He shifted his body weight from one leg to the other, coughing slightly as he did. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a case of Cæmel Dragon Cigarettes, the slight smell of what seemed to be almost like hot sauce reaching peoples nostrils as he lit on as it hung in his mouth, offering one toe the others gathered around. "Should I make these last or will you have something to smoke on Enigma Prime?"

Ice smirked and stood to attention when Lauren presented herself. With a crisp salute, he said, "Good to have you on board with us Miss Walsh." His tone was very formalistic and obviously sarcastic. He was about to continue when his captain Saki approached. He had wondered how this was going to go, and was pleased to see her in good spirits. He likewise saluted her as well with a chuckle. "Saki. I'm sure we're in fine hands then." He eyed the two woman as Saki held out her hand. Why did he suddenly feel awkward?

Nei's sudden arrival fortunately was able to snatch his attention when she asked about getting paid. He raised an eyebrow and laughed lightly. "Of course you're getting paid. In fact, where did you leave your ship? If you haven't left it here, please give the information to my security officer when you check your stuff in. We'll retrieve it for you and bring it here. STI is handling the storage of your personal vessels while away, free of charge. Another perk of working with my company. Oh how is the leg by the way? All healed up I trust?"

The sound of yet another familiar voice took his gaze over to another woman. A smile along with a nod could be found on his face. "Keira. Good to see you again. And just about. We just have to get you guys scanned and your stuff processed through security, and we can start loading up. We're also waiting for a few more people."

When Logan walked up, he was surprisingly relieved to see another man present. Although normally a room full of woman would be something he would have never turned down in the past, he was feeling disturbingly outnumbered now. Though the thought did almost make him chuckle at the same point. "Ah Logan! Glad to see you were able to make it. And sure, let me introduce you. That is our medical officer Lauren Walsh, our pilot Saki Lin whom I believe you know already if memory serves me right, and then Nei Laa and Keira Ticon who will be helping with security like you. Everyone. For those of you that haven't met this man yet. His name is Logan. He's a newer recruit to Red Ravens like Saki."

Standing back, he let them all get acquainted as well as waited for more arrivals.

Nei Laa

Grumpy cat? No no no -- grumpy squid!
[member="Ice"] [member="Saki lin"] [member="Logan of Little Coruscant"] [member="Keira Ticon"] [member="Lauren Walsh"]

Nei was about to respond when Keira and a stranger walked up. She nodded politely to Keira, but when intros went around, Nei simply pointed at herself and said, "I be Nei, is all you need to know."

She then turned back to Ice in order to answer his questions. "That be something good to know beforehand," she grumbled, though it was entirely likely that that had been something she'd not paid attention to. Nonetheless, she nodded. "I be sure to do that, and leave mention of refund." As for her leg... Nei grinned, her smile absolutely lethal-looking and without any humour. "My leg be healed and ready to kick enemies. Hard."

Normally, Keira didn't smoke. But she also didn't normally consider herself one to work with the Red Ravens, though she hadn't regretted a moment of it since her recruitment. So as the new arrival offered his pack she took one, placing it between her lips and grabbing the lighter by aid of the Force, touching the flame to the end of the cigarette before passing it back, smoke drifting from her mouth as she next spoke. "Keira, as he already said. There really isn't much else to know." As if to punctuate the remark she shrugged, cigarette still hanging from the corner of her mouth. All things considered it wasn't too bad, but she'd already made a point not to get addicted to any narcotics.

Neither of her brothers would be accompanying them on this trip, which struck her as odd. For being members of the Ticon family they were awful quiet as of late. Maybe she'd have to see about paying a visit to the both of them sometime soon. But there were plenty of familiar faces otherwise, something she was thankful for as she looked to [member="Ice"] with a half smile. "Hopefully this won't be anything quite like our run in with the Black Suns, or so we can hope. It was fun, but there were a bit too many snipers for my liking."

The fact that Logan was a new recruit was enough to interest her, and she glanced to him with a slight smile. "It is nice to meet you. I'd mention what it is I do, exactly, but I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise. Or maybe I already have." In all truth the 'surprise' she spoke of was her Force sensitivity, as not many seemed to expect that from her, even with the lightsaber always on her and the fact that she kept it no secret amongst the Ravens, even exploiting the ability in a few missions of a less serious nature.

Although she wasn't sure exactly how many enemies they would be encountering on Enigma Prime that were of the sort [member="Nei Laa"] was thinking of, she was eager to get out of the building regardless. It was nice to be among friends, but the hustle and bustle of things still wasn't quite her cup of tea.

[member="Saki lin"], [member="Logan of Little Coruscant"], [member="Lauren Walsh"]

Logan nodded at each person in turn as they made their rounds,introducing themselves after Ice broke the... ice... between them. Logan smiled at Keira as she reached forward to tentatively grab a smoke, the long, slim cigarette sliding effortlessly from the special leather case he kept them in. He flinched in surprise as the lighter was drawn from his hand as he could dully feel her presence reaching out toward him, although his unrefined "skills" left him still hanging. Logan took a long drag from the cigarette hanging loosely in his hands, the smoke trailing up and away from the group of people gathered. He breathed the smoke in, exhaling it through his nostrils, the smoke dissipating as it drifted toward his temporarily un-kept hair. "Not much else to know about me either," he said with a slight shrug.

He reached up and massaged his left should softly, still nursing a wound from a fight months ago. After Keira briefly brought up their run in with the Black Suns she suddenly seemed a lot friendlier towards him, joking about own force abilities, or so he assumed. Maybe there was something else he wasn't picking up on. He chuckled and smiled back, sarcasm lacing his voice. "Hmm? What? Surprises? I don't do well with surprises."

Aurna and Alva were in the Nike It was the ship left to Aurna by her aunt, and her home. She liked it rather than the quarters she was left on Wren'goa Station. They seemed too much. Her Aunt Alli was far too much into showing off her wealth, and well the home just was far too much. Aurna liked the luxurious but simple rooms of the ship she had become calling home. She just waited for the orders sighting at the techs on her ship, Ice just had to have them. She rolled her eyes, whatever floats his boat she supposed. It was going to be an interesting trip. She made sure that Ice knew she was here and waiting to depart.

[member="Aurna Vern"]

Alva made sure to stick closer to Aurna most of the time. It felt strange to be working on a project that would keep her away from Crina for a while, but she knew she had to at least show some willingness to work for her girlfriend's affections. So for now she was taking a short leave to participate in this venture for the other woman's sake. Working as security, Alva had made sure to have the proper equipment brought along. This included her slicewire, a suit of Crinan Combat Armor, and a Crinan Energy Blade, in addition a standard blaster rifle and her own abilities as a Practitioner and trained combatant. There wasn't much for her to do or say she supposed unless specifically told, so for now she just kept around Aurna for the time being.

Shortly after the majority of the other members of the expidition arrived, a small group of people- some chattering with themselves, some silent, most of them looking annoyed that their blasters were confinscated when they entered the area- stepped into the room. Sixteen in total, of all different species. All looked differently, all acted differently. Only one thing was common through each of them; each one could probably take down a Tuk'ata with his bare hands, and a Rancor with a blaster pistol. They were the hunters that had been hired through the Beast Hunter's Guild to make sure the expiditionw asn't overrun by whatever the planet's fauna might consist of.

The group quieted as they approached the others, most of them scanning the faces of the people they'd be guarding from who-knows-what once they got to the planet. One odf the hunters, a very old and very short near-human wearing a brown robe made for people of normal height walked over to the nearest sentient in the group- [member="Alva Calvarona"]. "Oh! You must be Ice! A pleasure to meet you! My name's Xavier Mgoo." The short man squinted so hard his eyes were nearly shut, struglging to make out the details of the room through his near-blindness, though his smile wsas as wide as ever, and attempted to shake Alva's hand. "Happy life day!" Meanwhile, one of the other hunters- a tall human with dark skin- sighed, rubbing his temple. It was obvious he'd worked with the short half-senile old man before. "Right..." The man addressed @Ice. "When doe sthe expidition start?"

(These are all NPCs btw, Mrrew will come later.)

Shortly after the hunters arrived, Barik did as well. Unlike most of the others, he had resisted his weapons being confinscated. Prehaps he was allowed them because they only consisted of a primitive bow and spear and a large knife, which he carried clenched in his right hand, as if ready to strike at any time. Or prehaps he was allowed them becuase the guard didn't like the idea of said knife going in his left temple and out the right.

The man looked from face to face, standing back a bit from the general crowd. He normally would have never set foot on a space station- but this was worth it. For a short time, he'd be out of the noisy and pointless city. Back in his home. Or what was his home. Where things were simple- be or be killed. He had missed the jungle as much as he had feared it. Wanted to return to it as much as he wanted to avoid it. This wasn't Duniya, but it had jungle. That's all he cared about. Well, that and getting off the damn space station and to the actual planet. His grip on the knife tightened by the second- he looked annoyed enough to stab anyone who got close. Needless to say, most of them didn't.

(Sorry for short rp)

For those showing up late. Simply post that you went through security and came aboard my ship without me noticing, and hop in where you see an opportunity. :)

Having received the message from Aurna that she and Alva were here, he was just about to question if the last of the party was showing up, when lo and behold. Here they were. When one of the hunters approached him and not the "other Ice", he chuckled lightly. "As a matter of fact right now. I'm going to split you hunters up. I need two members per digger. As we will not be all together on this trip, I want to make sure each of the seven groups can benefit from your expertise. The last two will be with me and my exploration party. I would like the most experienced with my group as we are going to be the ones more regularly dealing with the local wildlife. So if you could separate out your group. I'd appreciate it. And we'll get loading up now."

With that, Ice back up from the group and spoke louder for all to hear. "All right everyone. This is it. The ships are nearly ready, and as you have all been through security...some more successfully than others..." He said eyeing Barik with a slightly annoyed smirk, but nevertheless a smirk. "We can go ahead and get on board my ship." He said pointing to the carrier corvette nearby. "All aboard that's goin' aboard!" He said with a broad smile. This moment had been a long time planning. Millions of credits already spent. He was confident it would be a successful expedition. Everyone hand picked....well, most everyone anyway. Still every detail meticulously gone over. And now it was time to go!

As everyone began to make their way on board, he made his way back to Lauren. "Alright darlin'. Ready or not. It's time to go." He ran a hand down her back and sneakily let it run past her backside before parting from her again. Although he was trying to keep things completely professional while in public, he couldn't help the slight "slip" of the hand.

Once everyone was on board, the hatches closed, and the loading ramps sealed. The ships lifted off and soon departed from the safety of Libertalia. The trip itself was uneventful. Nothing really exciting to note at all. Fortunately, this leg of the trip was also a short one.

ENIGMA PRIME
Time: Evening, local time...

Unknown to the team though, there was a problem with the coordinates that had been entered. A single digit in the dozens of numbers entered that was incorrect. Ice happened to be on the bridge with his Captain, Saki, when they were about to exit hyperspace over Enigma Prime. "Finally! We're here." He held a small glass of whyrens's whiskey and coke. "Here's to a successful expedition." Taking a large gulp, he then watched as the ship dropped out of hyperspace....FAR to close to the planet!

Instantly the master alarm started to blare out throughout the bridge. Warnings of being to close and being pulled in by the planets gravity. Before Saki could even give orders to the crew, strange lines of electricity had begun to dance along the consoles and walls of the vessel. They had come out of hyperspace right into the planets ionosphere. A portion of the atmosphere that on this planet, was supercharged and dangerous to ships. The ship began to freefall toward the planet below as the shields became overwhelmed, and systems began to fail....

The voice spoke the words softly, and to himself. As the ships streaked off into hyperspace, the man turned away from the viewport. "Ok Rico. Time to get back to work." Logan stepped onto Ice's ship, following several paces behind him. He had his heavy bag slung over his right shoulder, the mostly metallic contents clinked together almost inaudibly through the thick cloth bag and over the loud humming of the ships all around them. He waited till everyone had piled onto the ship, setting their bags down wherever they could and finding a place to get situated in for the ride. He recognized several faces, double that unknown to him however. He recognized Io, Cryax, Ice and what seemed to be another Ticon, although he wasn't sure of this one's name. The rest of the faces seemed exotic and unrecognizable to him. He probably wouldn't make that much of an effort to get to know them unless the job required it or they started the conversation. For the most part he planned on sitting down with his head bowed, checking his equipment or reading. He nodded at Cryax and Io in turn as they caught each others eyes, giving a half smile.

He found a seat towards the back of the ship, setting his bag down underneath him, clipping it onto the bottom of the seat. It was an old trick he had learned from a friend back when he was mostly doing smuggling and "ship acquiring". This way his equipment bag wouldn't get to far from him and if god-forbid something bad happens, it wouldn't be a struggle to find his things should they need to get abandon ship or get out quickly in the case of a crash landing. He checked the ratchet strap that he had hooked onto his bag at all times, making sure it wasn't about to snap or was getting too frayed in places. Truth be told, he wasn't sure why he bothered to wait till they were on the ship before he checked things like that, but he shrugged the though off, there wasn't much he could do about it now. He pushed the bag underneath the seat so that it didn't block anybodies path should they have to come walk back where he was.

Most of the ride was uneventful for Logan, keeping to himself as he so commonly did. He got up and stretched his legs at a few points, making aimless banter and small talk to Cryax at one point and listening to some of the other Ravens gossip and chat among themselves at another. For the most part he stayed in his little corner, not saying much to anyone. He didn't bother to check over his armor and weapons as most of it was in the bag underneath his seat, but he made sure that the blaster on his hip was clean and ready to go at a moments notice.

The ship rocked suddenly, sending Logan flying from his seat. He slammed hard against the dirty floor of Ice's ship, smacking his head against it. He reeled in and out of consciousness for a second before he shook it off, pushing himself to his hands and knees. He clambered back into his seat and strapped himself in as best he could as the ship tossed and turned and bucked wildly, as someone hopefully struggled with the ships controls, trying to get her sailing again. He wished he had put on his armor during the flight, the helmets ability to depressurize itself would have been one hell of a help right now. He felt his ear drums pop suddenly and he swallowed his saliva over and over again trying to get the pressure back to normal.

Grumpy cat? No no no -- grumpy squid!
[member="Logan of Little Coruscant"] [member="Ice"] [member="Barik Rahl"] [member="Keira Ticon"] [member="Saki lin"]

Before getting on Ice's ship, Nei had taken his advice and sought out someone who looked like they knew what they were doing. After giving directions on where her ship was located -- along with a growled warning that if there was ANY new dents when she got back, the person would be riddled with holes -- Nei reshouldered her bag and headed for the ship.

Like Logan, Nei kept her bag close to her at all times, ignoring everyone while she polished her visor. Once that was done, the Nautolan, bored, began to cat nap -- an art that Nei had pretty much perfected.

Her beauty rest, however, was interrupted as the ship began to toss like a mad rancor. People began to tumble, and Nei had just enough time to put her visor on when she was tossed off her seat. She landed on her hands and knees, scrambling to get back and strap herself in. "Someone better get this kriffin' ship under control!" Nei roared.

Lucky for her, the destabilization of pressure did not affect her much, thanks to the natural talents of the Nautolan physiology. Nonetheless, Nei still felt like her stomach contents were dancing. And it wasn't just from the ship's motions...

It was fear; fear of dying someplace that no one knew. Fear of dying a nobody. In an instant, the faces of the people she cared about flashed in her mind, and she realized something: She needed to get out more. Good grief, but she was a hermit!

This certainly didn't help her temperament. Nei gripped the straps with her hands and her bag with her feet, decidedly worse off than before.

Frak"she watched as the entire ship flipped out"OK um"she looked at the pilot"angle us so we hit the ground and slide right now we'd die and hit this air brakes hopefully we'll slow down enough "she sat down dripping the chair and looking out the view port as the ship bumped and lurched as it rose and slowed

Asteria had been around for a while, camoflagued so no one would see her, but her camoflaguing skills were limited, as with her species, so she had to show herself sooner or later. So far no one had noticed her shadow, even Ice. She listened to instructions then did what others were doing and looked for a place to sit.

She uncamoflagued right when they jumped to hyperspace, and collapsed. "Fredge. Hate it when I'm camoflagued for too long." She got back up and found a place to sit down and buckle up, ignoring any surprised or strange looks given to her by the other Ravens. Sitting down, she decided to recharge while they were in hyperspace, lay back, and fell asleep.

Asteria was jolted awake at the sudden jolt of the ship, and felt it falling, "Oh, Fredge, ohFredgeohFredge." She was thankful she had her helmet on that was soundproof when she wanted it to be, hide her ears, and able to depressurize, but her sensitive ears still popped once or twice. She grabbed her bag as well as her vibrosword so they wouldn't slid away. Her pistol was in its holder secure.

The tall dark-skinned human hunter, who introduced himself as Lorz, was quick to organize the hunters into multiple groups. P;airs of hunetrs soon wandered every which way, making their way to the various groups they'd be assigned to. Lorz and Xavier Mgoo made their way to Ice's ship. The old man, Xavier, introduced himself to everyone aboard Ice's ship, shaking hands (or occasionally elbows, weapons, and doorknobs that he thought were people's hands) with everyone in the room. Meanwhile, a sighing Lorz took a seat on the far side of the ship.

It didn't seem like it had been long before the ship started shaking. Lorz quickly pulled his seat's saftey strap over his chest, taking care not to let the small amount of gear he was allowed to take with him go flying about. Xavier, meanwhile, started bouncing around the ship liek a large ping pong ball, knocking into anyone foolish enough to stay standing, and smashing into seemingly everything in sight. It was almost comical.

Barik grunted int he direction of [member="Ice"]'s ship that everyone was to board, eyeing it for a moment. He liked the idea of the shuttle about as much as hbe liked the idea of standing in a space station. But the shuttle was the only way to get to land. He moved up the ramp behind the others, his grip seemingly tightening on his knife in every passing second. Every since he left Duniya, he hated ships. Flying death traps. The reason he had been lost on Duniya in the first place. The reason his mother, and his father, had died. But the galaxy wasn't content to stay on one planet. No, they had to be everywhere- they had to spread their cities across the stars like a plague. So, of course, they had to have space travel. And as long as barik was part of the galaxy he had to use space travel as well.

Barik stood next to the row of seats closest to the ship's main exit, staring out theviewprts with obvious anxiety. Hopefully the travel wouldn't be long. He was anxious to get back on land- where it was safe. Land where anything that could kill you you coudl fight back against.

Not space where ships decide to crash.

Barik's eyes went wide when alarms started to blare. Alarms. They sounded so much like the sirens on Pilgrim. Exactly the same. Exactly the same. They were going to crash. Everyone was going to die again. It was going to happen again. He could feel the ship rocking, throwing everyon, tossing him against the wall like a rag doll. They were all going to die. He was going to die. His grip tightened on the huge knife he still maanged to clench in hsi right hand. No. He remembered the crash still, perfectly, after years. The sound of wrenching metal as it entered the atmosphere. He could hear it, the same sound, ont he outer layers of this ship's hull. Soon would be the crash. They were all going to die.

(...This is the worst thing that could posisbly happen in Barik's mind, lmao...)

[SIZE=14.4444446563721px]ENIGMA PRIME (...100,000 ft. up)[/SIZE]

[SIZE=14.4444446563721px]As the ship plummeted out of the sky, it began to creak and groan under the strain. Although the shields were fried, they had managed to protect the vessel from the worst of the ionosphere. Saki's efforts were eventually able to stop the ship from entering a roll from which would have been impossible to break out of. Still, it continued to fall. Failed systems that had shorted out from the ionization effects slowly began to sputter back to life. The air brakes were eventually engaged, which surely caused quite a few of the unfastened passengers to lurch forward from their positions, if they were able to stand at all.[/SIZE]

Enigma Prime (50,000 ft. up)

The master alarm continued to blare, and many of the primary systems were still offline. For any who were able to look out a window, a look of horror probably sprang to their face as the saw the ground getting closer in a hurry. Every attempt to get primary engines back online failed. The thrusters though soon sputtered back to life. And what was once a chaotically tossing and turning ship, soon leveled out. The problem was the vessel was still barreling toward the ground...

Enigma Prime (25,000 ft. up)

Ice finally managed to get into a chair and started working to get the systems back online while Saki continued from her end. Emergency reboot didn't seem to work at all at first. Nor the second time. Finally the third time, he got some life back into the systems.

"Yes! Yes you bastard I already know that!!! Get them back online!" He shouted as his fingers flew across the keyboard trying to reboot the system once again.

System Rebooting....

A flash on the screen and Ice thought he lost the system again. It came back immediately though and continued its process.

Ice's eyes went wide. "You have got to be kidding me!!!" His foot suddenly went out and smashed into the console causing it to flash to nothing again, and almost instantly come back.

Ice gave a snort of indignation. "That's better!"

Enigma Prime (5,000 ft up)

The engines finally roared back to life. However, even with the air brakes, which were straining under the pressure and speed. The ship was still careening toward the ground at a terminal velocity past mountain peaks. Saki had steered the vessel away from the fortunately and was buying them as much time as she could to allow the engines to kick in and slow the vessel down. And slow down it did. Just not in time.

Just as it seemed they were about to pull up, the back side of the vessel scraped the side of a mountain slope causing the nose to dip back down toward the planets surface. Fortunately as most of their downward momentum had been shed, when the ship slammed into the floor, it didn't break up. Instead it slid down the side of the mountain grinding metal against rock and mowing over a few small trees that were in the way.

Enigma Prime (Surface)

The rough landing had practically jarred his teeth out of his mouth. But in the end, he was still alive. He turned toward Saki with a heavy sigh and a slight smile. "Good job..." He said wearily. It was then he remembered the rest of the crew, the rest of the team, Lauren. His eyes grew wide, and he flew out of his chair, heading down to the lower decks to find everyone. Not that he didn't care for the rest, but of all the people, he had hoped Lauren was safe the most.

Lauren was ok, she had just a few bruises. She got off dusting her self off and groaning more than a little bit. Damn.. what just happened... She asked as he training kicked in. That was when she looked for an intercom. She found the nearest intercom. " All people with injuries please report to med bay in an orderly fashion." Then she began ensuring that everything was together. She didn't want to stop, because then she might not get going again. She felt worse than she looked but wasn't going to stop when she had her job to do. What did [member="Ice"] do though... crash into the planet? She gasped as the first injured started making their way to the med bay.
