- City Name: Eshan City
- Classification: Metropolis
- Location: Eshan [Planet Sub to follow for this canon world]
- Affiliation: The Echani Compact
- Population: Heavy
- Demographics: 95% Echani, 2% Human, 3% Assorted other races
- Wealth: High. Due to exports of Echani warriors, materials, droids, ships and others, and this being the capital location of the Echani Compact, Eshan City is the wealthiest of all of the Echani cities, and prominent houses maintain homes within it.
- Stability: High. The streets of Eshan City are patrolled by EMBU Mk. III's in order to preserve safety and security for all. Additionally, the Echani race doesn't have a history of significant feuding amongst the various houses, choosing to settle things in orchestrated and sanctioned duels rather than violence on the streets. There isn't a high crime rate, though some does exist as it does everywhere. Political stability is currently high with the installation of the new queen.
- Freedom & Oppression: The city is very relaxed, though it is evident that the leadership will not tolerate crime thanks to the heavy patrols of security droids and their counterpart Echani forces. The tax rate has remained level for years and people are generally allowed to live as they wish provided they do not break any laws. Punishment tends to be on the more severe side. Thieves generally lose hands as this serves both to punish the theft and punish their combat ability. Extenuating circumstances are taken into account, however. Everyone is taken before a judge before being punished and the local populace tends to view this as fair. Slavery is outlawed as it is on all Echani worlds.
- Description: The city is full of character in the form of handcrafted stone mixed with more modern metal-clad exteriors. Towers rise above the city but don't dwarf it to the level of the buildings on Coruscant. It's very much still possible to experience the small world style of life in Eshan City as well as the high end. It is very much a pedestrian-friendly city as the streets are rarely crowded with speeders, though airspeeders are quite common.
- The Palace
- [Submittal to Follow] The palace was destroyed by the crashing ship. Very little was left of the original structure which had lasted for thousands of years in the city. However, then Queen Jacobs, with the help of numerous others, saw to it that the building be reconstructed with the same plans and some modern upgrades, including defensive systems. The palace sits at the center of the city, rising highest above all other locations, marking its importance for those who call Eshan home.
- Eshan City War Memorial
- After Eshan was attacked, and the city was partially destroyed when a ship was crashed into it, Queen Raste coordinated the construction of a memorial. The intention was to memorialize the lives lost and for it to serve as a reminder that regardless of their intentions, war was only ever a stone's throw from their doorstep. Built on top of a Force nexus that was created with the mass casualty of the crash, this location is oft-visited by only the bravest of those willing to endure the heartache it forces upon them.
- The Starport
- The only major starport on Eshan is located at Eshan City. From it, deliveries are redistributed to the smaller cities and villages that cannot be delivered at those locations directly. The starport is always busy with a backlog of vessels waiting to land and offload their cargo and passengers.
- The Moonwrought Temple
- The Echani Moonwrought are the Force users of the Echani. They are those born with the gift of the Force who choose to become something more with themselves but don't seek to become a part of the Jedi or Sith. These Force Users are trained both in the Echani martial arts, achieving the distinction of Firedancer, at the same time they learn the ways of the Force and how to apply the Force to their fighting techniques. As a result, they become potent warriors that make up the elite of the Echani fighting force, with no other group surpassing their ability. The temple only allows Moonwrought and potential Moonwrought to enter. Its halls are hallowed ground. Situated on a separate island from the main city, it maintains its point of prominence and seclusion at the same time.
High: As explained above, the city is patrolled by EMBU Mk. III units, which are designed for security purposes and just as good at fighting as their predecessor units. Crime tends to be low profile and predominantly petty. Murder is practically unheard of but does occur on occasion, usually perpetrated by a non-Echani against another non-Echani as they have not acclimated to the lifestyle of the Echani people.
The city is protected by a starlight scutum shield system, installed after the attack on the planet. In addition, weapons emplacements were added a locations within the city and just on the outskirts, comprised of several systems, including the following:
In addition, the city has a full garrison of Echani soldiers supplemented with Eshan Industrial Corporation combat droids.
Eshan City has existed for as long as the Echani have. It was their first settlement and has grown up around the central palace location over the years. The location was chosen to access the frigid, but life-giving waters of the Rauschender Mond river. Not only does it provide a source of fresh water, but hearty fish and crustaceans call it home as well. It made for the perfect location for a settlement.
While the Echani spread out to other worlds, and some changed as a result of it, Eshan City continued to remain the centerpoint of Echani culture. Martial arts has a large place within the city, as numerous instructional schools operate within its borders, but Echani culture extends beyond throwing punches. The natural closeness of their people has relegated cities to hubs of trade of goods, knowledge, and culture. Because of this close-knit nature, people from other species have come tk call the city home as well.
It survived for thousands of years, lasti g through the reign of the Empire in which some Echani served as the Royal Guards of the Emperor himself, and survived the gulag plague, though its population and technology level were greatly diminished. A reformation of the Echani as the Echani Compact came to be within the city, as did the adoption of monarchy rather than the governorship of elders. The city is no stranger to adversity, having survi ed the gulag and netherworld events. Always it rebounds.
When it came to be that the Echani were attacked and a ship was crashed into the city, it once more survived the ordeal, though a great deal of lives were lost. As always, the city has rebounded stronger than it was before, rebuilding fully and constructing further drfenses to avoid such a fate happening again. Eshan City will never be fully destroyed as long as the people remain to rebuild it.
Today it serves as the center of the Compact's power over the Five Sisters.
