  • Canon: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: Eshan
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Eshan Miralune Fox
  • Other Names: Moonwalkers, Mist-tails, Pale Guardians, Grove Whisperers, Children of the Mist
  • Designation: Semi-sentient
  • Origins: Eshan
  • Average Lifespan: 10 - 12 years
  • Estimated Population: Rare
  • Description: A rare and elusive fox species native to the forests of the southern continents of Eshan. Revered by locals and sometimes whispered about in myths, these foxes are deeply tied to the natural rhythms of the planet and are often seen as omens or messengers in some localised Echani folklore.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I atmosphere
  • Average Height of Adults: Up to 40cm (female); Up to 30cm (male)
  • Average Length of Adults: Up to 80cm (female); Up to 65cm (male)
  • Skin color: Grey-white
  • Hair color: Silver and black
  • Distinctions: These foxes have a thick, silvery-white coat that gleams subtly in moonlight, with distinct black striping along their back, legs, and tail. Their fur shimmers faintly, almost iridescent in certain lighting. They have bright, reflective silver eyes, giving them an almost otherworldly stare that is rumoured to "see the truth in your soul" according to local folklore. Females tend to be larger than males.
  • Races: N/A
  • Force Sensitivity: All
Strengths:
  • Stealthy - Their silvery fur and natural agility allow them to move silently and blend into moonlit forests with near-invisibility, causing hunters and predators to often miss them.
  • High Intelligence - Capable of learning and remembering complex behavioural patterns. They can recognise specific individuals, even after long absences, and show an almost uncanny understanding of intent or unspoken communication.
  • Empathic - These creatures are exceptionally attuned to the emotional state of beings around them, able to sense fear, love, calm, or aggression and react accordingly.
Weaknesses:
  • Timid - They are highly wary of strangers or sudden aggression. Loud noise, violence, or chaotic emotions will send them fleeing.
  • Fragile constitution - While agile and evasive, they are not built for combat or enduring harsh damage. They can suffer from extreme cold or toxic environments far more easily than other species.
  • Tied to Eshan's Ecosystem - Though they can survive elsewhere, their health and vitality are at their peak only on Eshan. Long separation from their native woods can make them melancholic or ill unless deeply connected to a bonded individual.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Omnivorous
    • Forest Fruits & Berries
    • Roots & Herbs
    • Small Insects & Forest Critters:
      • While gentle by nature, they are technically omnivores. They will eat grubs, beetles, or very small amphibians when needed for protein, but prefer non-violent methods of gathering food. They do not hunt for sport and only take what is needed.
    • Mosses & Lichen
    • Sensitive to meat:
      • While they can digest meat, they become visibly agitated or uneasy if the creature was killed violently or unnaturally, possibly due to emotional resonance through the Force.
    • Cannot digest processed food:
      • Anything synthetic or overly preserved will make them ill.
  • Communication: Through a mixture of physical contact, yaps, and subtle impressions through the Force to one another. Their communication is subtle; soft sounds, gestures, and eye contact, never loud nor aggressive without cause.
  • Technology level: N/A
  • Religion/Beliefs: N/A
  • General behavior:
    • Crepuscular / Nocturnal Activity:
      • Most active at twilight and nighttime.
      • Their silver fur helps them blend into the moonlit landscape, making them almost spectral in appearance.
    • Social Structure:
      • Monogamous Pairing: Once a family bond is formed, it remains for life. Mated pairs are fiercely loyal to one another, often sharing a deep bond believed by some to be enhanced by the Force.
      • Family Clans: Small, close-knit family units consist of two mates and their offspring, lead by the female. Older siblings often help raise the younger kits.
      Values and Personality:
      • Harmony with Nature: They do not destroy. They forage with great care, often leaving areas undisturbed. They are known to bury uneaten food, sometimes even covering disturbed earth as if in apology.
      • Compassionate Behaviour: They have been observed tending to sick or wounded members of their unit and have even shared food with unrelated injured animals.
      • Curious but Cautious: They observe humanoids from afar, rarely approaching unless trust has been slowly built, often choosing Force-sensitive individuals or children as the first they reveal themselves to.
      Mating:
      • Courtship involves a "mirror dance"; two foxes running in perfect synchronicity, circling and weaving around one another in silence beneath the moonlight. The dance is never forced; it must be mutual, or they part. Some stories claim this is a Force-sensitive instinct, that the foxes only bond when their energies truly align. Once bonded, their trails often intertwine, quite literally. They will weave their paths close together, sleep curled as one, and call out with quiet harmonic hums only their partner answers.
      Interactions with Surroundings:
      • They don't construct dens but instead find hidden glades, tree hollows, or ancient root systems to nest in, lined with moss, feathers, and soft plant matter.
      • They don't hunt for sport or dominance — they forage, occasionally taking insects or small amphibians when necessary. When they kill, it is swift, silent, and respectful. Their eyes are said to close in mourning after taking a life.
      • They're believed to lead lost animals (and sometimes people) to safety. Some say they protect ancient glades where the Force is strong.
      Interaction with Other Species:
      • Will coexist peacefully with herbivores, birds, and even predators who show no aggression.
      • Bond easily with certain Jedi or Force-sensitive individuals, often choosing a companion for life.
      • Considered good omens by most Echani in the southern regions. If one is seen crossing your path at dusk, it means you're on the right path.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Once abundant across the forests and rolling highlands of Eshan, these foxes were a common, if elusive, sight to early Echani settlers. With their distinctive silver fur marked by black stripes and luminous silver eyes, they quickly gained reverence not just as beautiful creatures of the wild, but as spiritual emblems of grace, intuition, and connection to the unseen threads of the Force. For millennia, the foxes lived in harmony with the rhythms of Eshan's natural world. Widespread across the planet, they were especially prevalent in the northern woodlands and central high plains, where early Echani foragers and seers often followed their trails in search of guidance or signs from the Force. Some believed the foxes could lead the worthy to healing springs, ancient Force nexuses, or hidden glades untouched by time.

But as Echani civilisation flourished and cities grew outward — particularly across the northern and central continents — the habitats of the foxes gradually diminished. Forests were cleared. Trails were paved. Noise and light and war crept into the quiet places where the foxes once thrived. Now, they are found only in the southern reaches of Eshan, where vast tracts of ancestral forest and sacred land remain untouched. In these regions, they are not only protected, they are often venerated by local communities.

In villages and mountain communities of the southern woodlands, these animals are often considered spirit guardians, and their presence is believed to herald balance, protection, or insight. They are sometimes said to be shapeshifters, or even emissaries of the Force itself. In folk tales, they appear to wise children, wandering travellers, or wounded warriors, offering guidance through riddles, dreams, or silent companionship.

To harm one is considered deeply taboo. To be chosen by one — followed, approached, or even touched — is seen as a mark of spiritual attunement, or a sign that one is destined for a greater path. Today, while rare, their legacy endures. Painted onto the walls of shrines, etched into the wood of southern homesteads, and told through fireside stories, the Miralune Fox remains a symbol of what humanoids may sometimes forget: that silence is powerful, that instinct is wise, and that some truths are whispered only through the rustle of silver grass and the gleam of moonlight in a creature's eyes.
