I started with a pulled chicken BBQ served on jalapeño cheddar rolls with pickled red cabbage.

Then for Sunday brunch I served a traditional Southern “shrimp and grits”.

This week I’m looking at soups and desserts. Everything from scratch.

All of that sound very yummy .. apart from one thing.

Being from Australia I have absolutely no clue what grits are. I have heard of it but that is the limit of my knowledge.

So, wat is grits precious.

It's a porridge made from corn. Dried corn kernels ground into a course meal and then mixed with water and other ingredients to make the porridge. Because it has its own distinctive name (like oatmeal), few people think of it as corn porridge.
