SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Intrinsic Shield - With its all-encompassing array of miniaturized energy shield projectors that are embedded within the construction, the stormsuit provides excellent defense against energy and kinetic-based attacks.
  • Fire of War - The stormsuit has an excellent resistance to heat weapons and fire, a testament to its incorporated thermal shielding and ostrine reinforcement. Such robust defensive features vastly lower the wearer’s risk of being burned.
  • Superlight - Unlike stormtrooper plate armor, the stormsuit is a superlight design intended to facilitate ultra-mobility. This is further facilitated by the flexibility enhancement, which makes the bodysuit more akin to a second skin in spite of its robust defensive qualities.
  • Low Profile - The stormsuit has a greatly-diminished observation profile owing to its camouflage and polymer coatings, while the D-baffling system renders it nearly dead silent. Both of these systems lower the overall signature of the bodysuit, but they do not offer true stealth capability or invisibility. Instead, they serve to make the bodysuit more difficult to distinguish from the surrounding environment and harder to detect.
  • Power Boost - Reactive polymers derived from crushgaunt materials are incorporated into the stormsuit's underlay, offering a moderate strength augmentation to the wearer. This features effectively doubles muscle strength, allowing the wearer to move faster and carry heavy equipment with notably less strain. In addition, the Ghost Link integrated into the helmet can significantly enhance reaction time, mental processing capability, and awareness, provided the operator is trained in its use.
WEAKNESSES
  • Mechanical Mutation - Like any piece of technology, the stormsuit will be susceptible to mechu-deru and other technology-twisting powers if left unprotected. A talented practitioner of such esoteric sorceries could induce an overload or some other failure that might compromise the armor entirely or demand precious time to fix, leaving the user vulnerable.
  • Plasma Lance - Given the ubiquity of lightsabers and Force-wielders on modern battlefields, the stormsuit’s relatively low resistance to the vaunted laser sword may represent a critical weakness. For this reason, wearers are advised to maintain their distance when facing combatants wielding such weaponry.
  • Tensor - While the stormsuit is optimized to mitigate damage from most forms of energy-based assaults, tensor weapons are a notable, dangerous exception to its protective qualities. In firing compressed tractor beam waves, they can bypass most of the bodysuit’s defenses and affect the wearer’s body at a cellular level, with the potential to cause mortal injury.
  • Deep Freeze - While the stormsuit is rated to protect the wearer from all environments (including arctic planets the likes of Hoth and Ilum), it unfortunately does not grade well in terms of defense against cold-based weaponry. That is to say that the biting, freezing power of cryogenic weapon systems is far more penetrating than that presented by cold environments. Thus, wearers are advised to rely on other means of protection should they come to face these weapons.
DESCRIPTION
The FAE/A-15 Imperial Stormsuit is a superlight stormtrooper combat suit that prioritizes speed and agility over protection. Eschewing the betaplast plates of traditional stormtrooper armor, the stormsuit instead uses betaplast-integrum armorweave and miniaturized shield projectors embedded within for protection. This results in a sleeker design that saves weight and minimizes inertia.

However, the stormsuit still comes with the full suite of systems as expected in First United Engineering protective suit designs.

Although not anticipated to serve in a standardized role in the Imperial Army, the stormsuit is more intended for specialist stormtrooper units, where speed may represent a more significant boon than pure protection.
