Private Family Time

Kahlil hummed in thought.

No, no that made sense. Colette had probably carried him a couple times. Epicanthix weren't much for gendered roles, just strength. Kahlil ended up snickering as he glanced to their kids. It was only a matter of time before they got themselves some daggers anyway. He'd have to take them hunting soon.

"Daggers it is, then."

Wait, what?

Valery was staring daggers at Kahlil when he agreed to the triplets getting daggers. They were her babies — her little ones — and he wanted to give them bladed weapons and take them hunting? Perhaps Aurra was mature enough to start learning more about it, but she shuddered at the thought of Aeryn running around with a Keshian blade.

These daggers were made by and for warriors, after all.

"Babe... are you sure about that?" Valery asked carefully, and in an instant, both Adam and Aeryn turned to her and squinted.

"Mommy!" the two triplets nagged together, having felt that they won when Dad agreed already, "Please! We will be careful," Aeryn tried, this time with puppy eyes she knew her Mother struggled to resist. Adam joined her and walked a little closer to his Mom, hoping he could persuade her by pushing out his lower lip.

"...love?" Valery chuckled and turned to her husband.

"Can I have a necklace with pictures?" Aurra asked Colette, rather than her parents. "I don't want a weapon or a crown." No, she wanted something she could wear forever and use to keep her family close.

"They're old enough to train, so.. Yes?"

Kahlil tilted his head, looking rather puzzled to his wife. For him, his culture, it wasn't anything abnormal for children to learn the importance of what a hunt was and how to harvest. But then again, he hadn't been here when Vera was this age. This was new to him, at least with his own children. Perhaps a necklace would be better? He glanced to Colette, just hoping that perhaps the others would latch onto the idea now that their big sis wanted one.

"They can engrave them, so a pendant like that is possible." Valery smiled, but not as wide as Aurra. Her big sister liked her idea and now wanted one, too! That was incredibly exciting and she couldn't feel more proud. Her blue eyes turned to her Mom, then to her Dad and she hoped that they noticed, too.

Valery looked at Aurra and nodded with a loving expression.

"Pendant!" Aurra chirped, but the other two little Nobles did not seem convinced yet. They wanted daggers because they were going to be fighters!

"Fine, we can get them daggers but they're not keeping them in their rooms. We'll store them safely and they can use them when you teach them how to hunt, Dad." Valery looked at Kahlil and smirked a little. He hadn't gotten the chance to teach Vera how to hunt when she was little, so she knew this was likely important to him.

And she'd support him.

"I have an idea for you too, Mr. Master Noble~"

As Valery mentioned it, a Keshian warrior with long, raven-black hair stepped out from the building. She was wiping along the length of a blade she had forged and looked at the Nobles.

"Who can I help first?"

"Yaaay!" The triplets chirped in familiar unison. They were bouncing up and down — even Aurra was, while she held onto Colette's hand — and they just couldn't be more excited. The Keshian Forgemaster cracked a bright smile at them, and guided the little ones inside. One pendant and two daggers were going to be made of Keshian steel.

Like their Mom, and her Mom before it, they would have something to remember this by.

"Love? For you, I was thinking a pocket watch or maybe just a normal watch," Valery began while she stuck close to him. "But I want to infuse it with the Force by connecting all of us. To turn it into something that always lets you feel us." The Dyad already did that for them, and he did have Force Bonds with his children, but this would be something he carried close.

Something a little more intense.

"So," Vera began as she approached Colette. "What do you think of Keshi so far? Mom's really fond of it but I always think it's a little too... quiet."

"Well…" Colette shrugged. "Everyone thinks their own home is the best, y'know?"

She shrugged and looked out at the rest of the landscape, the one that was just beyond the smithy and thought about Ophus for a moment. It had been the people that had treated her less less than bantha's spilling. The planet itself in all its near-eternal splendor was still one of the most beautiful places she knew.

"These women though." Colette said. "They are, uh…" Beautiful? Pretty to look at? "Very similar to y- our mother."

And the second that the realization dawned on her that she called her technical mother figure attractive she felt a… A really unfamiliar feeling of disgust that burned in her throat and stomach. As if she had just admitted to something that was wrong, yet not really.

"As- as in, y'know, strong women who can look after themselves."

"Love."

Valery stepped in front of him, took both of his hands and looked him in the eyes with the most shit-eating grin he had likely ever seen before, "You're a nerd. Of course, it fits you." She stuck the tip of her tongue out to him and squeezed his hands. "We could do a regular watch, though. Or maybe a wristband?" A pocket watch was maybe not the most clever idea — they moved around way too much during their Jedi duties.

But some type of jewelry or personal item imbued with his family? That was the perfect idea, as far as she was concerned.

"Yeah... I know what you mean," Vera said with only a brief disgust at the idea of thinking of her own Mother that way. But truth be told, there was beauty in more than just appearances, and she had no problem thinking of all of her family being beautiful in that way. They were strong, confident and-

"Mommy! Daddy!"

Chaotic.

"Look, Daddy! A knife!" Aeryn exclaimed as she ran out with the dagger in her hands. Valery's eyes widened with motherly shock and shifted to Kahlil. "Oh fuck, she has a knife," Valery said breathily, as Aeryn of all people sprinted at her father to show off what she was given.

Adam was on the run as well, but he was coming for Colette, Aris and Vera.

"Was that…" Colette blinked. "Did Valery Noble just curse in front of her own children?"

Part of her expected the kid to try and raise it, maybe trip and stab her father in the leg, but thankfully that did not happen. The very same thought occurred to her as Adam approached, and once he did she slowly reached out to him to inspect the handiwork.

"Very impressive." She said and weighed it up and down in her hand. "Balanced. Sharp."

"The smith is very skilled."

Oh crap.

Kahlil stepped forward in a hurry towards the knife wielding daughter of his. Thankfully it was at least in a sheath so they weren't just given sharp blades by the smith, but still, there was a lesson he'd forgotten to teach her. He reached down, gently holding her hand that was still holding the knife. "Don't run with a knife like that. Either of you." He glanced to Adam, giving a patient smile.

"Those aren't toys."

Vera looked just as stunned when she heard her mother cursing like that. Then, she smirked and decided to remember it for later. For a moment when her Mom would try to correct her on her use of foul language. The triplets seemed oblivious to it, though, and just wanted to show off what they had! Aeryn and Adam with their daggers and Aurra was looking for Colette to show the pendant she had.

Heart-shaped and made to hold pictures.

"Mhmm, listen to Dad. Knives are very sharp and we don't want you to get hurt," Valery said with motherly worry. Aeryn blinked, looked at her dagger, then slowly moved her head up and down.

She understood and even offered the dagger to her father. She knew she wasn't allowed to keep it with her.

"The oldest three, it's your turn." She wasn't ever going to do something like this before her kids. So, Colette, Aris, and Vera could get their items now, and she'd watch the little ones with Kahlil.

"So, a watch or a wristband? Maybe even another ring?" she asked her husband with a smirk.

Colette moved her hand as if to motion Vera and Aris towards the smithy before she took a seat on the floor next to Aurra. She was in no rush to get her item from the forge and she'd rather be sure the others got theirs before that.

"That's a beautiful pendant." She said and gently swept her thumb over the heart-shaped locket. "Any idea what you're gonna put in it?"

"Maybe… A big old picture of us all, hm? Or some place you really like."

"A watch is fine, love."

Kahlil snickered as he glanced to his wife and shook his head. She was going to continue to tease him on it, wasn't she? It was fine, at least. He'd handle it, as he always did. By teasing her right back. Probably later, though. His gaze shifted to the trio of their older kids, smiling ever so faintly as they went in.

Or at least just Vera and Aris. Aris just gave a small nod before motioning for Vera to step up first. He knew what he was going to get, but it made more sense to let his sister go first. He'd have let Colette go first if she hadn't decided to sit outside.

Aurra plopped down next to Colette and showed off her pendant with a proud smile, "A picture," she said at first. "Of Mommy and Daddy. And Vewa, and Aris." she paused and looked up at her big sister with a smile that couldn't be brighter. "Aewyn, Adam and... you!" she giggled and shifted just a little closer.

She felt comfortable around her oldest Sister.

"I want a picture of everybody."

Valery watched the interaction with a warm smile and leaned into her husband's side. He was getting a cool watch to wear around the house or bring with him whenever he wasn't home for a while. Something imbued by the family, for the father who always protected the ones he loved.

"...some glasses could be cute, too," Valery teased some more. If he wasn't going to tease her back, he was giving her free shots to take at him by extension.

"I'm going to ask for a small collar," Vera said with a grin as they entered the forge. "For Fuzzy! Maybe it should have a little bell to let everybody know he's coming?" She giggled and looked at her brother with a grin.
