FINAL DAWN
EXEGOL, UNKNOWN REGIONS

CRIMSON LININGS
VENGEANCE FLIGHT
Vonreg's Flight
Flights 2-4

Throughout Exegol, fierce fighting had erupted between various attacking factions and the defending forces of the Maw. In orbit, large fleets clashed as the Naval Forces of the Nomadic People's Coalition and Onrai's Cult clashed with Alliance and Eternal Imperial Naval Forces while another large automated fleet aligned with the Alliance moved into position to protect what seemed to be a large space station positioned at a safe distance from the fierce fighting. So far the Mawite Forces had the upper hand in orbit especially with the Eternal Imperial Star Dreadnought already on the verge of being destroyed and attacks from Alliance Naval Forces being repelled by the combined forces of the Nomadic People's Coalition and the Final Dawn.

In the atmosphere, equally intense dogfighting had occurred as a squadron of Y-Wings struck against the High Regent's Flagship above the Forbidden District in a bid to destroy the mighty warship only to get destroyed in the process themselves. At the same time additional Alliance Squadrons had begun to engage large swarms of space beats that emerged from the Red Honeycomb Zone while also simultaneously beginning to provide close air support for GADF Forces on the ground, although fortunately, they had yet to strike against Final Dawn Forces already situated on the surface that were in the process of carrying out the final stages of the evacuation of the Shipyards.

Meanwhile, the Crimson Linings themselves were doing their best at clearing the skies, laying waste to any enemy starfighter squadron unfortunate enough to stand in their way, inflicting massive casualties while suffering none on their part, thanks to the fact that their TIE Barons were essentially invulnerable to energy weapons thanks to their Phaklt Metal hull. As Vonreg tore yet another Alliance X-Wing to shreds, he took a mental note of his kill, having kept count of the amount of enemy starfighters he had destroyed since the beginning of the battle which currently stood at 25 confirmed kills. The Crimson Baron was hungry for Alliance Blood, eager to remind them of the futility of their attack here at Exegol. Regardless of the outcome of this battle, the Final Dawn would soon regroup and reconsolidate their power before moving forth to finish the war Solipsis had started and put an end to the treacherous Alliance once and for all.

As the Crimson Linings began to set their sights on a Squadron of B-Wings headed from orbit, the Sensors of Vonreg's TIE Baron began to indicate the arrival of a new foe, or perhaps an old one. The Baron would proceed to lock onto one of the incoming starfighters which would soon be identified as an X-Wing, one belonging to none other then a familiar foe. "Revenant Squadron" he muttered. "Look alive boys. It seems that our old friends from the Alliance want another rematch." Vonreg said. "What about those B-Wings." Crimson Four said. "They seem to be headed towards our forces on the surface." the Pilot finished. "Good point, four. Flights two to four, move in to intercept those B-Wings, Flight One your with me" the Baron ordered. Even though he would be going up against the entirety of Revenant Squadron with only 5 wingmates, the heavy armor and fast maneuverability of their TIE Barons would allow them to outlast Revenant Squadron in a prolonged dogfight

Thus, the Crimson Baron and four accompanying TIE Barons split off from the rest of the Crimson Linings, moving forth to confront the X-Wings of Revenant that were already headed their way, while the rest of the squadron stayed on course headed to intercept the B-Wings sent from Cynthia Alucard's Fleet with the intent of wiping both the B-Wings and their X-Wing escort. As the Crimson Baron and his wingmates closed in on the enemy X-Wings they shunted power to their weapons ready to tear their foes apart. Today they would put an end to Revenant Squadron for good and ensure the ultimate triumph of the Final Dawn.

Beneath the rubble, Ala centered her spirit on the wisps of light side energy that drifted about the darkened place. She pulled at the subtle tendrils of light side energy that were offered from the Jedi in the area. Many were fighting their own internal battles, to go along with the external, to these Ala gave of her strength and offered hope and will.

Ignorance is the burden of all those without light to see.

His self-deception saddened the young Jedi Master. It grieved her that one so blind could wield such power to devastating results. She did not know his name, nor his reputation, but it was undoubtedly a long and horrific tale of power abused, and suffering indulged.

When Jedi fall to lusting after the powers the wield, the sway they hold, their fall has already begun.

Mind clear of doubt or worry, Ala stood and lifted the rubble above her with her mind. The debris drifted to the left and right of her, even as she took in the arena that had been created, and the words of her foe.

"And if you would just turn that will to reduce suffering. What true greatness you could achieve. But instead. You indulge your pride. Sadly there will always be people such as you."

She would do what she had too.

Her breathing calm, feet planted with her body leaning in towards her would be attacker, Ala's eyes narrowed.

"What will you suffer?"

"Meeting your replacement."

She then met his charge with her own, both short yellow blades igniting as he steps forward lengthened through the Force.

Amidst the colorful flashing of crimson and red blades of plasma when they clashed. Her opponent remarked on how she was prideful about getting everything she wanted. And it was quite true, and Velda reveled in the contempt that he had for it. "Oh, but it is a thing of pride. And it always shall be!"

What was only a half-truth though, was that she did not know failure. The better question would be, does Velda even acknowledge failure as existing for herself? In the twisted world of Velda Nar-Donna failure is not an option. Because it only existed in the mind and was a construct of it. And to subjugate oneself to it in the throes of defeat was merely a choice one made, a choice that existed in an oasis of weakness within one's fearful heart and spirit. To even acknowledge the possibility meant one was defeated before one's struggles even began. Only for it to have a grip of influence moving forward, which could cultivate error.

For failure was the domain of the weak, and it always would be.

Of course, there were always setbacks, blockages, walls, and hindrances. Sometimes these would test one's abilities to overcome, whatever the situation. This did not mean failure, only when acknowledged by said individual, only then was it failure. A trap of their own design over an unwelcome result.

This meant, ironically, her opponent seemed to be in the grips of failure by even mentioning such as some sort of value in learning.

Failure merely existed as a tool and a weapon to plant seeds of doubt in the mind of one's opponent. And to use it on oneself was foolish, and short-sighted.

And still, their duel continued. He became even more aggressive, and his strikes more and more powerful, his moves more elaborate, he seemed to be fond of the dual phase feature of his lightsaber. A feature that was not a foreign concept to Velda, she was familiar with such, and she knew the trick well. At times she would use his powerful strikes against him, only to shift away in an attempt to get him off balance.

And amongst the twirls, spins, and jumps she was doing, she was not exactly anywhere near her limit, she was by no means being easy on him, but she could turn it up too, if she so desired, however at the moment. She didn't see much of a reason to. For the darkside was her ally, and she had immersed herself in it during the fight deeply. And she had no desire to get even more aggressive with him when there was no need, she knew that an opening would present itself eventually with him. Even though he was carrying himself quite well.

Then an unexpected happenstance had occurred, he had snuck in a quick Force Push that had sailed in her direction, and it had connected true. And she was sent careening through the air flying backward toward the side of the ship.

It was a hard hit and the shot had disoriented her as she flew for a few moments, only to come through the brief haze and realize that she was gaining in height.

Velda had gathered herself through her center and in the darkside, as she flipped herself around vertically. While at the same time the artificial gravity of the ship took over and pulled her back down to ground level. She shut off both of her lightsabers mid-air during her descent as her slim visage fell into the shadows within the sides of the ship, a shadow within a shadow. And behind a stack of crates, she was heading toward the wall when her left arm reached behind her sending her own force push at the wall, acting as resistance to it, and she gracefully fell straight down a few feet in front of it.

Velda's Force Push cracked against the durasteel of the ship, echoing throughout the level, hinting that perhaps her back had actually hit it. Indeed, she would have been stunned and perhaps even knocked out had that occurred, the sound of course, was brutal. But he was not about to get out of this that easily.

With that she just casually walked around the crates and back toward him out of the shadows of the side of the ship, nonchalant like nothing happened, with her sabers deactivated, she was just messing with his head at this point.

She crossed the distance and made it back to him, and began a wide circle as she spoke to him both out of range of their lightsabers. Then she reactivated her lightsabers. Their siren call sang true in chorus once more. And her left saber, the one closest to his direction, trailed down. And the blade would come in contact with the floor circling a shallow trail of melting steel as she casually walked, in the wide circle the sounds of scorching plasma against metal ringing true, and it really did look quite beautiful while the blade trailed beside and a bit behind her, almost as if she was bored. "What do you know of weakness and failure?" She asked her brown eyes found him again through the shroud of her cloak. "Appeals to mercy in death perhaps?" Oh, now she was defiantly using his own words against him, as she purred that last line out of her lips like it was poison.

ORBITAL PRISON STATION, EXEGOL
OBJECTIVE: ESCAPE
- Damian Du Couteau - Strike Team Amidala -

As his body slowly stitched itself together, Alicio truly regarded the man in the other cell. He seemed alright, which was good; he probably wouldn't have enough energy to completely heal both of them.

“Well I guess if we’re to meet the end it’s best to do so with both eyes open.”

"Well, if we're meeting the end," Alicio returned, finding a coy smile through bloodstained teeth, "I'd like to make a good first impression. For when I meet it again." There was an undeniable confidence in those words. Alicio didn't intend to die here. He had too much to live for.

His fellow prisoner rose, and introduced himself. Alicio found a spark of recognition. He looked up, struggled to a knee, though had to stop there, leaning heavily on a leg. "Senator of Empress Teta. You supported the committee to elect a new Vice Chancellor." There wasn't a hint of judgement from the Count. He didn't have the energy for it, and frankly, they had bigger fish to fry.

"Afraid I was taken the same time as you," he muttered, wiping speckles of blood from his chin. "Alicio Organa."

Finally, shakily, the Count rose to his feet. The bruising over his eye had all but faded, even as he favored one side heavily. One picked up a few tricks being married to one of the greatest healers of the Jedi Order.

"We're over Exegol, aren't we?" Alicio could taste the maelstrom of darkness emanating beneath them. "How long until we're used as a bargaining chip, you reckon?" The Count was already looking around, searching for a way out. He'd been less than cooperative thus far, and he didn't plan on changing that any time soon.

He was cocky. She could tell, with the way he talked and moved. Good. She took aim and fired. At first, Erion would have thought she had missed. The arrow flew right past him after all. But she was not aiming for him. The arrow slammed into a chain and exploded. The result was the lift above the platform rapidly descending upon Erion. Chains rattled and whirled as the lift crashed downwards.

Aoki guessed that he was good enough to dodge or telekinetically halt the metal. She was ready for more. She pulled another arrow from the quiver and notched it. This arrow was pulled back as she watched his movement and fired when he was most distracted. This was a regular arrow, but sharp enough to cut and with enough kinetic force to ram into a person and knock them back.

She lowered her bow with a grim look on her face. Despite her efforts, things were looking dim. She had been able to tell that more monsters were about than she had been able to kill. How likely was it that they had reached her lord? She abhorred the thought. Even still, the guilt of losing an entire squad, eleven beautiful people, was coiling around her heart like thorn ridden vines. It was not supposed to be like this. This was supposed to be a battle of victory and might. She knew that the Maw would be fighting back tooth and nail, but this damage was worse than Mira had expected.

She was ever on the edge of losing her cool. She was ever on the edge of cracking, her heart bleeding out from beneath her iron armor. But she held. If she could keep this crazed Sith at bay, keep him from opening no more cells, she would have done her part and prevented more harm. If she could kill him? She would open each and every cell, one by one, and both slaughter and mercy kill the abominations within. She was on a mission. She could not afford to be emotional right now.

Determined, icy, focused. She was ever aware of the distant rumblings, explosions, and rains of blaster fire above their heads. But while she kept her senses extended to any trouble from the cells, she was frighteningly honed in on the Sith. She was the predator, unrelenting in her vicious hunt. She pulled out another regular arrow, ready and able to tackle whatever came next.

After being drained nearly to the point of death, even a trickle of psychic energy would’ve seemed like a blessing. What Thelma received was a fount of lifeforce, a wealth of memories.

Even when a punch to her head flung her away from the creature’s neck, she was more than satiated. It was the most well-fed she’d been in quite a long time. She spat out chunks of pale flesh and gore that had been torn off in her jaws. Vitae blazed in her veins, empowered and rejuvenated to the point of being drunk on its potency.

She struck Marrow with the Force, launching a powerful telekinetic attack at the elder vampire. Though the surface-level goal was to drive him back, she kept coming at him, unleashing an onslaught of metaphysical blows that, if not stopped, would pummel him into a bloody pulp.

THE - GREAT - HUNT
affafacfasw.png

---Outer Exegol Orbit---

The reversion to realspace always made his eyes hurt. Watching the twisting vortex dissipate in its own splendid fashion to some, strange anomaly to others, and merely a headache for Dasmi as the split second bright flash made him flinch.

The sight that greeted him was one that he always dreaded seeing.

The Ragnarök was floundering. His eyes darting to the side screen that was relayed to his post giving him a better read on the internal systems of their sister ship.

The massive hulk of it seeming to bulge and crinkle under his eyes. The internal systems reading making it clear the cascading failures that was soon to bring the vessel to its knees.

His own thoughts to send a warning to Rimes. To make sure they took their option of getting out. To load up the transports and get as many willing souls off the ship before the worst happened.

But that time had slipped away now.

The Ragnarök shook with a large explosion just before the engine section. Each side ripping a seam that met in a jagged arc in the belly. Panels and sections jettisoned into space as smaller debris exited the general surrounding of the Ragnarök.

Excited speed throwing the debris into the Disruptor's adjacent to the vessel. The bridge of one being ripped apart while the other suffered a separation of the fore-section from engines. Exposing the reactor systems and their sudden surge in energy as the bridge vacated all atmosphere.

It was a sore sight that Dasmi had watched for several years now.

Aside from making everyone wear an sealed environment suit, there was no way of securing the lives of crew in the most catastrophic of failures. But the Empire's people were some of the most stubborn, and willing.

At one time, he might have taken a second to give them more than a glancing look of sorrow.

His expression didn't change however, his eyes watching the Ragnarök as it seemed to shudder against the withering fire directed at it.

The Angyali Nyugalom began to dispense with its Droid Starships at an alarming rate. The two supporting Eternal Class Star Destroyers moving forward to deflect as much damage from the Super Carrier, imposing themselves in the direct line of fire from the enemy fleet.

All passing the failing Ragnarök by without a second thought.

The Monarchs positioned themselves to best provide covering arcs for the vessel while the Disruptors filled in the gaps. The CR90's pushing past the Eternal Star Destroyers with their SLAM drives active to get them as close to the enemy fleet as possible.

The Artillery Cruiser Destroyers opening fire from their position outside the circle of protection the Monarchs positioning.

The Droid Starfighters peeled away, joining their previously deployed complement of siblings already fighting the enemy fleet.

---Direct Exegol Orbit----

The vessels lumbered through inner orb of Exegols orbit, looking over the battlefield below and scanning the allied communications they could. Situations being handled accordingly as the trio of vessels reached out with their long range weapons.

Points of contact on the planet being targeted for orbital bombardment as the vessels lumbered forward.

---Onrai Engagement----

Location: Exegol, Outside the Red Honeycomb Zone
Objective: Fleeting

The ship was throwing klaxons quicker than they could be processed. The crew around the command section eyeing the woman in command as the hyperspace signatures became clear with full reversion.

Rimes smiled through it all.

A strand of hair falling from her temple as the command section erupted with a cacophony of different alerts and reactions. Most were handled without her direct intervention.

The static filled image of Dasmi cleared up with their proximity as she turned her attention back to the projection.

"Welcome to the end, Dimitri."

"It was good to see you one last time, Rimes. Was a good run."

"Can't live forever. See you on the other end." Were her final words, cutting the connection between them as explosions began to ring loud enough to push through the walls and corridors between the source and those hearing them.

She stood tall, holster filled with the blaster once more as she called for command of the deck.

"Give them hell. It's been a pleasure flying with you all."

The Ragnarök ceased turning, the entire engine section ripping itself free as the engines flickered before the power cut. The lights of exhaust dimming as the hull of the Ragnarök popped and shook with the internal explosions.

The vessel never ceased firing at Onrai's vessels as it fought with its last breaths.

The crew's inside finding their environment suits to begin patching what holes they could manage with the large pieces of patching materials. The firing crew's doing their best to make the most of their firing angles.

The droid starships beginning to coordinate better with the dedicated carrier vessel.

"We have new prey, it seems."

The fleet bombarding the Ragnarok quickly began to shift position, turning to face the new threat. The wrecked dreadnought continued to take fire from secondary and tertiary weapons batteries mounted along the sides of the Sovereigns and Plutons, but most of their combined firepower was now redirected towards the Angyali Nyugalom, another dreadnought of the Eternals that had evidently entered the field of battle. This vessel seemed more an industrial ship as opposed to a combat vessel, and the survivors of Onrai's forces were mostly intact. The horde of surviving Scrapmetal drones moved to meet the horde of droid fighters coming from the factory vessel - perhaps there was an easier way to respond to this.

-

Aboard the bridge of the Angyali Nyugalom, the same shadowed form that had made an offer of survival to the captain of the Ragnarok coalesced itself before Dasmi Lindervale.

"Your fellows chose to reject my offer of a path to survival, and now they are smoldering in space. I intend to destroy this weapon of war with my own forces, but I wish to make you the same offer - you can, if you so desire, allow me to take you to a new place where you can live a peaceful life. A life without risk of harm as you're in presently. Agree to this, and your crew will be spared. The metal will be rent, but the flesh need not be torn."

"You can't have it".

The Sith Lord exclaimed as the goliath figure before Caedyn Arenais appeared to reclaim his momentum following the initial blow the Jedi Knight had landed against him, Xiveros was taken by the surprise attack yet it was clear that the battle had only just begun as the Sith Warrior pushed through his pain and turned against the Jedi, going on the offensive.

The Unknown Warrior was fast, much more so than anticipated. Despite his armament, the Sith rushed forward with a surge of hate and aggression. The two figures collided, the Sith sending a violent and brutal shoulder charge against the Jedi. It caught him square in the centre torso, taking the breath from Caedyn's lungs and sending him sprawling backwards across the rock-laden surface. Though the Jedi's armour would protect his body from grievous harm, his landing was hard and the rock surface would cause abrasions against the left side of his face.

Despite the shock of the colossal blow landing against him, Caedyn knew he didn't have time to spare, expecting the Sith to be following through in preparation for another attack. Reaching to the holster against his left hip, Caedyn scrambled to recover while drawing his Side-Arm and raising it first to fire off a three-shot burst of stun rounds towards Xiveros, while his right hand raised the staff-lightsaber, the rear blade disengaging. In this, Caedyn would be able to maneuver with further ease while wielding the blaster pistol in unison with the sabre.

Pushing down on his right (forward) foot, Caedyn pressed himself back to cover several paces in one swift dash away from the Sith, going on the defensive as his opponent had proven himself to be a maelstrom of aggression. Though Xiveros was Force Dead, the air and intensity of their environment continued swirling around them both, unseen yet powerful as the Darkside clashed against the presence of the Light.

The clone that had through the dark ball got blasted with cryo spray a crystalline cocoon of ice forming up and around it seemingly freezing it in place. The image vanished destroyed only leaving an icy silhouette behind where it once had been. Tegan felt the nice cold chill breeze flow through her as the first doppelganger fell. She continued dancing about drawing lines in the of runes in the ground as she danced like a mad woman.

The clone with the blue saber had managed to land a strike on the left shoulder of Corazona von Ascania Corazona von Ascania . As her saber caught the red saber of the clone on the left sparks went flying as the two sabers collided. The snapping and hissing as the sabers held together in red and blue clashing an magnificent display of forced fusion. The sabers snapped at each other neither wanting to give way. The grimace on clones eyes and the same glowing orange eyes that Tegan held stared at the Jedi stared right through her like she was nothing. That was how Tegan saw the galaxy and it's people as nothing pawns and play things in her game for destructive peace. Those eyes even though of a fake illusion of Tegan told a deep story of someone who had seen so much and had gone to the deepest depths of Madness because of it.

Then as the red clash was pushed away and followed by a kick that landed in the Clones midsection knocking it back. The one with the blue saber then pushed forward coming in for another attack this one aimed for Cora's left hip. It gripped it's saber with both hands and swung for the fences striking straight and across at the hip with a mad baseball like swing. It was aiming for the hip but it would be happy with cleaving the jedi in half if it could manage. As she swung blue saber caught blue sabers colliding and sparking brilliantly as the two sabers collided hard causing the clone to reverberate a few steps back because of the sheer force the sabers had impacted. Then Cora came up at the neck as she did instead of beheading the clone it simple vanished.

The Red Saber clone was about to go in for its next strike aiming for Cora's back but before it could even strike out three shots were fired from Dom's slugthrower into its back the Clone vanished into purple mist. The mist flying towards Cora as she felt that tinge of anger inside her. A voice whispered into her mind as the mist dusted past her. "Let the it take you, let it consume you. See those that have wronged you." As a mental spell fell over Cora one that would create hallucinations making everyone appear as images of her past of people who ever wronged or hurt her in some way. Though being a jedi she could probably fight through it fairly easily it's main purpose though wasn't to get her to attack her allies though that might happen, it was to feed that seeding anger in her make her more likely to embrace it a little. Things like images of her real father plastered on Dominik Borra Dominik Borra and Jand Talo Jand Talo face or worse.

Tegan herself still dancing about as one clone still stood tall the one with a blaster and grenades. Tegan's eyes shifted towards the iced silhouette of one of the former clones, so they wanted to play with ice. Tegan Dancing about just slightly lifted her head up towards the sky and as she did the ice sculpture shot up into the stormy skies above as Dom's shot flew by it. As it shot up into the clouds an extremely loud crack of thunder boomed across the lands. Then Rain began to fall from the sky and onto the combatants, now neither Tegan or the clone would be fully blind to the soldiers presences as his outline would be able to be seen through the rain fall. That and it created mud so Tegan's symbols in the ground she was dancing to make could be more easily seen. If one knew their Dathomiri it was a ritual summoning circle though what it might summon wasn't clear yet. Tegan though smiling with glee at what she was doing did feel just a tinge of sadness they didn't know what serious Danger they had all put themselves in. "Just give in or give up!" She yelled through the pouring rain that was smearing the paint on her face and washing away some of the blood and dirt on her body her orange eyes just flaring even brighter then before the chaos happening all over Exegol empowering her even more.

The Clone with blaster and grenades pulled free one of the grenades and through it the general direction of Corazona von Ascania Corazona von Ascania binding force blast into it to increase the effectiveness of the grenade so the impact might cause real significant damage. Though it was more a ploy to draw Dominik Borra Dominik Borra out so it could fire on the outline it would cause in the rain. As soon as Dom would move to try and remove the Gernade from play it would open fire on him fully unloading it's blaster.

"Ya'zid-rah, don't make the same mistakes that I did. This isn't your time. So put down the sword and live." - Lost Family

It was at that moment that he realized things were different for them. The lives they lived were so far removed from one another, experiences, philosophies and beliefs. It was the Maenan deep within him that understood their way of living hard, dying hard. The stubborn nature that refuses to give in, the relentless enduring drive that kept him alive for so many centuries despite unimaginable agonies, soul wrenching pain, the great loss of loved ones. Out of everything he'd attained during his rise on his home, and in the Galaxy at the apex of the Sith himself, from watching the nephew he raised climb to the mountain top of Sith, to his daughter following in his footsteps as a Dark Lord in her own right. Ever since he was young he long believed in the concept that to attain true power, those who were willing to sacrifice the most could grasp true greatness and outshine all others around them. But his child made some interesting points that brought memories back up to the surface. Every hurdle he leaped over came with its own cost in pain, experience, and blood spilt. Blood of both enemies, family and friends. It was true Vesta was born into power from a strong bloodline, she was able to grasp at the throne and her journey was far quicker than his because of that. But it came with its own trouble because she burned like a supernova hot and fast, but flaring out quickly instead of enduring. She crashed hard and fast into trauma, she was thrown into the Galaxy at maturity instead of being eased into it and learning the ways of the world like everyone else had. She began her life in trauma and pain, a father consumed in his own grief and rage that fueled into her awakening, she became his own vessel in his war against life itself. How could he blame her for that? How could he be mad or disappointed at her for being exactly what he desired at that moment? In helping himself he doomed her to her fate. So if anyone was to blame for her predicament now, the situation they found themselves in right on the edge it was him. "I am to blame, daughter. You are what I shaped you to become, directly or indirectly. After your awakening I cast you into the fire out of my own rage and hatred, aiming to punish life for its transgressions against me." Braxus replied, turning away to look at Quinn and then away altogether, before fixing his gaze back on her. "I should've protected you. Shielded you while I taught you the ways of the world and allow you to ease into life on your own terms, instead of determining your course before you've barely walked a mile. I threw you to the wolves and left you to fight for yourself. Your mothers loss was nearly more than I could take." Braxus paused. "We may not have wound up here if I had. For that I apologize my child. I was not the father you deserved. But this isn't the end. It doesn't have to be." He placed his hand on her shoulder. "We can find a new path forward, together. This doesn't have to be the end, sacrifice. There is always a new way forward. We can find that together."

Eina really didn't know anything about what Thomas Barran's message was; she had her own business, she couldn't pay attention to what was happening on Mar'Zambul. Eina never paid much attention to mortal politics and diplomacy. She probably wasn't even in Realspace when it happened. Or, if she did, she was just trying to hold the Eternal Empire together, which didn't go too well for the Avatar. She knew that if her mother hadn't been captured at Panatha, the Empire probably wouldn't have collapsed.

"Oh!" she said.

Yes, she easily realised from that that they were at home, on Mar'Zambul. After all, the Scar Hounds Tribe consisted of ground troops, they were not part of the fleet. Eina may not have been informed, but she wasn't stupid either, and she pieced together the information with ease. True, she still didn't know the reasons, but she realised that the Tribe possibly betrayed the Maw. All she could think was that maybe Mercy had told them that Asher had turned away from the Maw and it was possible to achieve freedom and break the Maw's influence and not have to serve them? It was possible, but she didn't know.

And right now was not the time to investigate or try to figure that out. Now the ritual and the Avatars were more important than that. Eina has always been overprotective, not only with her family, but with everyone else. Even against strangers, especially when it came to souls. After all, she and her race existed to protect and watch over souls, and to escort them to the Netherworld. Preferably to a safe place. Not everyone became one with the Force, and even that took time, different for everyone. Others continued to exist as souls, or even developed into something else, became something else.

"In fact, if necessary, I can teleport a small team into the inner parts!" she told him.

That was one method, the other is to create a rift here and then in the inner part as well, and the soldiers simply step over it and they are already inside. True, this was the one that would have taken a bit longer, and the enemy could have used this kind of passage if necessary. She smiled for a moment. In the Netherworld, when she fought demons, she preferred frontal attack, she didn't use tricks, it wasn't necessary against most demons. But here, out here, she tried to think like her mother. Which wasn't difficult, because the woman's father had no combat experience, only her mother. And she was a legendary assassin.

Meanwhile, Eina listened with interest to the conversation between Lord Aron and the officer with him, Marchal. She has already seen what must be done first, if they really go in spectacularly and not just covertly, by infiltration. At the end, she nodded.

"Let's go, it's time for us to do our part in the fight." she agreed.

She waited for the two men, though mostly Lord Aron, and then when he was heading in the right direction, she headed for the fighting, so that they would not just talk about fighting, but actually participate in it.

"But if you decide, Lord Aron, that you want to go in sooner, than later, we can fly in or teleport in." she offered again.

Kahlil's arm fell to his side as he watched. Pain crippled through his mind, but it wasn't anything new. The numbness from it, along his arm, across his face, in his eye. That was. As if he'd been cut off from them entirely, those parts of his body just felt dead. But he didn't let go. His other hand continued to pry the very souls Kyrel had devoured free, to let them finally find peace in the Force.

So perhaps Kyrel could do the same, as Valery brought her own blade down to put an end to the monster he had become.

Fuelled by stolen life (Marrow? A hypocrite? Perish the thought!), the prey proved a much more potent threat.

Before he could so much as gather his thoughts, he was flung backwards. Unlike last time, her follow-up was anything but lacking - blow after blow landed, the invisible force battering him in ways he was woefully unsuited to resist.

Even with his extreme physical resilience, it was only a matter of time until such an approach would end him, especially when he lacked the time needed to regenerate. As it turned out, however, the sheer stress of the situation drew forth an instinctual response - albeit one Marrow was unlikely to be able to reliably replicate.

During a brief lull in the onslaught, the battered Sangnir pointed a hand towards the prey and make a strange twisting gesture. It was meant to make her blood crystallise in her veins and then explode outwards, turning her into a very dead, very full-of-holes corpse, but given his distorted memory and currently poor shape, that seemed unlikely.

The Starbird Class Patrol Ship and the Lady Uriel were promptly being tucked away into their respective belly hangars within Shien and Shii-Cho. Soon, hopefully, reports would be rolling in regarding the progress of boarding and detaining the disabled patrol ship. Burtch would take prisoners, and begin interrogations quickly to unveil potential weaknesses in the enemy fleets. Meanwhile, The Lady Uriel would begin repairs quickly, as soon as diagnostics were completed. With any luck, Uriel might have something to contribute before the end of the battle.

Reports of the Star Destroyer were lack-luster. Marlon Sularen Marlon Sularen had ordered the destruction of Romund Sro's star destroyer, and Burtch had complied, but all it had done was serve to divert a large portion of the Nomad's firepower away from Cynthia Alucard Cynthia Alucard 's carrier fleet. The captured ship had seemingly endeavoured to destroy itself by ramming into another vessel. Oh well…

The tactical holodisplay returned to encapsulate Cynthia Alucard Cynthia Alucard 's fleet, and Burtch was admittedly, a little concerned by the enemy commander's latest tactical decision. The capital ships were being drawn back while a massive contingent of fighters and bombers were moving to swing around Burtch's fleet. A contingent of X-wings were committed to staying behind with the carriers and escorts, but these decisions appeared to be a mistake to Burtch.

Both divisions were now exposed to Burtch's weaponry without ideal options for counterattack.

Burtch briefly pondered the nature of these decisions. It could certainly be assumed that his crews' gunnery had left such an impression that caused the enemy fleet to shy away and retreat. Meanwhile, this attempted bombing run for the surface was possibly a desperate attempt to go for the throat. But Burtch had some available, relatively easy counters to these actions. Obvious counters that could likely cost his enemy dearly. He could only wonder if perhaps this was some kind of trap.

Shii-Cho seemed to be thinking the same thing, There is no way they can escape the effective range of my heavy turbolasers. They should have enough data to deduce that by now.

He shook his head clear of these thoughts. Trying to guess the mind of his enemy without any basis was a fools venture. He needed to protect the evacuation effort, and the next course of action to achieve this was an obvious one.

Burtch cleared his throat to begin shouting orders when a sensor officer interrupted, "Molecular shields!"

Burtch exchanged looks with his chief gunnery officer before the other man spoke to the sensory officer, "where?"

"On the enemy carriers, sir. It took a while to process the data, but our Searchlight sensor suites and the teams that operate them have determined that the Hydian-class Tactical Carriers are equipped with some modern variation of molecular shields."

The chief gunnery officer looked back to Burtch with a wild excitement in his eyes. The Ophanim Guard Star Destroyers had been equipped with a very specific weapons system to not only counter, but exploit Molecular Shields. It was dirty, but it was effective.

Burtch scowled at his gunnery officer to convey his reservations about the situation, but he offered a nod of approval.

The officer began barking orders, "If the enemy wants to go for the throat, then we will too! Target the enemy flagship with all heavy batteries! And I do mean ALL batteries! Set the firing orders for 'UP', 'SLEEP', 'KILL' consecutive salvos and repeat until that ship is scrapped! Continuously test enemy defences with TECMIS false positive weapons discharges, and constantly keep plugging enemy reactions into the TECMIS algorithm to improve our accuracy! Each salvo we send them will provide data to enhance our firing solutions!"

"Execute!" Burtch confirmed.

All of a sudden, the noses of all 4 Ophanim Guard Star Destroyers pointed at the Strict Justice, and triple-staggered salvos began to slam out from their respective weapons batteries.

CHYEOW!-CHOOM!-TSEEER!
CHYEOW!-CHOOM!-TSEEER!

CHYEOW!-CHOOM!-TSEEER!

Salvos of corruption bolts were chased immediately by ion bolt salvos. The ion bolts were near-instantly followed by a devastating convergence of green turbolaser bolts. Burtch understood these firing orders well. The first segment in the three-layered salvo was intended to soak corrupting energy into the molecular shields. The corrupting energy would then seep into the power grid and "clog-up" those systems, much like cholesterol in an artery. The next part of the salvo was intended to exploit the alterations made to the power grid and inflict direct damage to those systems, bypassing the enemy defences — in this case, ION damage. The third part of the salvo was to take advantage of the weakened state of the target and inflict as much raw turbolaser damage as possible. Every single salvo would trigger enemy countermeasure defenses, which the Searchlight sensor suites could collect data and plug it into the TECMIS system. The TECMIS would then use that data to enhance weapon's accuracy and make the guns more accurate.

Ideally, in essence, every salvo that Burtch's guns fired, his enemy would weaken and his own firepower would increase. And there was little chance of escaping the long reach of the Ophanim Guards' gunnery.

For now, Burtch turned his attention to the bombing force that was attempting to slip past the blockade. That too, seemed simple to counter, which worried Burtch. It shouldn't be this easy. The enemy commander had sent off a massive contingent of fighters and bombers in one direction, and then deployed all of their potential overwatch capital ships in the opposite direction. They were exposed, and easily intercepted.

Where's the trap? He sent to Shii-Cho.

I don't know, Burtch.

16 elite fighters from Marlon Sularen Marlon Sularen 's fleet were starting to rise up to meet the attackers. Burtch decided to watch the scene unfold for a moment to see if there were any tricks or gimmicks employed by the enemy fighter commander. But as the 16 Final Dawn fighters clashed with the hundreds of alliance fighters, nothing obvious revealed itself.

He brushed it aside. He didn't have time to be tentative. He knew what needed to be done. Keying his comm, he sent Marlon Sularen Marlon Sularen an encrypted message, "I am about to strip off the bomber force's escort. I don't have enough fighters to break through to the bombers, but I can keep the X-wings occupied. Hopefully, this gives you an opening to hit those bombers hard enough to stop them."

And with that, he began issuing more orders, "Flight control, send the three remaining advance squadrons of
DZA Fighters to intercept the enemy bomber force. Reinforce with the fighter complements from Shien and Makashi to even the odds. The enemy X-wings should still outnumber our DZA fighters, so divert the three remaining Obstruction Interceptor Corvettes to provide gunship fire-support. With SLAM, they should have no troubles catching up. That should, hopefully, even the odds."

Do you think Marlon Sularen Marlon Sularen will be able to stop the 144 B-wings? Shii-Cho asked.

He's got a lot more to lose here than we do, Burtch explained,
So, I hope so.

TLDR:
  • The 4 Ophanim Guard Star Destroyers begin bombarding Cynthia Alucard Cynthia Alucard 's flagship using advanced long range gunnery, and weapons that are designed specifically to exploit the molecular shields of the Hydian-class Tactical Carriers for extra damage.
  • Burtch sends 15 squadrons of DZA fighters along with his 3 remaining Obstruction Interceptor Corvettes to deal with the X-wing escorts assigned to the B-wing bombers.
  • Burtch sends a message to Marlon Sularen Marlon Sularen to tell him his plan.

She saw him too, her intense hateful gaze looking with his as the melee cleared around them, allowing the unknown pair to be acquainted so closely amidst the chaos. The Kandaran offered the man a soft sly smirk, slowly beginning to creep towards him as her cape billowed behind her, as if there wasn't a battle raging on around them.

Black steel-tipped boots stepped over the myriad trifecta of gore, screaming and dying soldiers that decorated the battlefield in a horrific patchwork of red. The knight stopped abruptly as one dying alliance soldier grabbed them by the ankle, begging under pained breath for their mother, only to be coldly answered by Sahar shrugging them off and calmly raising their boot and bringing it down on the soldier's head like one would squash a bug.

Pitiful.

She never broke her eye contact with the Jedi, shrugging off the brain matter stamped into her boot and collecting themselves before coming merely a few meters away from the Jedi.

"You remind me of someone, but then I suppose you're all the same, you sure die the same, tell me Jedi boy, do you bleed like your kin too?"

Amani opened her mouth as if to speak, but she knew better. Surea had never shown so much as a sliver of interest in redemption. Everything she did was to inflict her twisted will on the rest of the galaxy. Rotten to the core, like the infection that surrounded her. Whatever hope the healer had to help was shut down as Surea closed the distance with a launching strike. Amani raised her saber, blocking the blade with the middle of the haft. The clang of their weapons caused the metal to vibrate in her grasp.

"Wouldn't miss it," Amani grumbled, pushing back to create distance, "To be honest, I was starting to wonder if you were dead," The Jedi, raised a hand, then slammed it into the ground, causing earth to crack and crumble beneath Surea's feet.

They didn’t have time for this.

Cale wanted to scoff at her, to look down at the absence of his right arm and mockingly parrot back her question to her, to rub the dried blood on his forehead and ask her what she thought. But there wasn’t time for any of it. He found the time when she stomped down on the dying soldier though. Cale looked at the Imperial with a gaze near as cold as the void itself. The galaxy was in the balance, and she wanted to wage a war that would be irrelevant if the Maw’s ritual reached its conclusion.

He kept her gaze as he dipped his head under a heavy swing, then brought his saber back across the attacker’s chest, flesh searing and splitting as the Mawite let out some alien death rattle. His expression never changed, Cale hardly even twitched. He rolled his head to either side, cracking his neck with his lips pursed tight as he looked away for half a heartbeat at the lifeless soldier.

“Shouldn’t have done that.”
The force was around him, the all-surrounding energy ebbed and with a move from his hand, flowed. Cale threw a wave of telekinetic energy toward the Imperial. Bodies, sand, blood, whatever was between them went with the whirlwind, and Cale followed after without a word.

He surged in the wake of his opening salvo, rushing up and striking out without an instant of hesitation. Peace and redemption were paths for someone else to offer in a battle that was not here. They were going to see which of them really bled.

"Fine." Sion echoed her, softly and determined, as he followed along into the maws of hell.

He wasn't sure what he was expecting after telling her about the child. Completely ignoring it? Was definitely not part of it. It made him frustrated and even more determined to withdraw away from Cordé's feelings. If empathy was his power, denying it was one of the hardest things he could do, but right now Sion didn't want to be anywhere close to her mind.

Instead Cordé kept it personal to the mission.

Fine.

After they plopped down the shaft and onto the ground Sion rolled his shoulders. No worse for wear, because he was finally getting used to using the Force in a more... natural way.

Not just being overloaded with empathy.

A snort. "And you tried to give me chit for tagging along instead of allowing you to do it on your own." His hand rose up and the lightsaber flew into it, igniting itself a moment later. A blue light suddenly radiating the corridor, but it seemed strangely empty. Shouldn't there be people here? A lot of them working to do... something?

Instead their footsteps ticked against the floor and echoed hollow.

"I am not feeling anyone other than us." Sion finally muttered as he looked around for any signs of struggle. None to be found. "Doesn't seem like anyone got here before us either, so what gives?"

It almost felt like a scene out of the horror ship.

Except... there was no gore, no blood, no corpses.

Just rusty corridors.

And a clear path forward.

"Me? Help the Maw?" the Pureblood said, followed by a bout of laughter as she deactivated her lightsaber. "I wouldn't be caught dead helping those brutes. No, darling, I'm here because this tomb belongs to my ancestor, and I intend on claiming what's mine by birthright before it's turned to stardust. It took me years to discover its location, and I'm not going to let an uppity Jedi brat keep me from it. So, tell me dear, are you going to leave me to my business, or are we going to dance?" Hekate formed a ball of lightning in one hand, resting her elbow on the other hand, arm across her chest, then looked to the Jedi for her answer.
