Fine, I'll go to you then! [Attack on Voss] [SSC]

With the Jedi finally amassing to face him the sith grinned a wicked smile and ending his force crush on the Jedi. However when he turned towards the incoming troops and Jedi they began to fire an onslaught of weapons at him. Flame throwers, shrapnel rounds, and the more deadly sniper variants. He had largely ignored the twi'lek who spoke to him due to the fact he didn't find her important whatsoever.

Calling on the force he called the metal sith sword back into his hand. To make this charge and be successful he needed the support of his captive ship, so giving a quick hand signal the ship's guns turned on the incoming SSC troopers and Jedi. The Yuuzhan Vong behind Dredge drew their amphistaffs and charged into battle with their overlord.

So as the battle raged around them there was a few wet plopping noises that were drowned out from the ship canons as the overlord continued his charge. Coming upon his first trooper the Vong swiftly beheaded them before throwing the limp corpse towards an incoming flame thrower unit toppling them to the ground. He would hack and slash his way towards the leader of the Rangers until he came into direct contact with them.

"I hope you're ready to die." The overlord said as he lifted the massive bastard sword.

But all good things sadly had to come to an end. A shot was fired from a sniper and it passed by Dredge and hit him in the back of his armor the overlord's hands twitched and the front of his right breastplate shot out black blood and smelt of burning flesh when his armor failed. Dredge stood there for a moment in shock as black blood dribbled from the wound, he quickly went down to one knee and coughed a small amount of blood.

Looking down at the ground the overlord turned their head up towards the Jedi and coughed once more.

"No! No no no! This wasn't! No!" he barked out and roared as he tried to stand then quickly fell over.

“I hope you’re ready, Sith,” Nantaris growled. Calling on the Force he pulled a blaster pistol to his hand, aimed it at Dredge’s head and fired.
One must not suffer a Sith to live!

Around them the Rangers and Voss worked in teams to stay out of range, to fire at Vong in groups. Many of the Coalition defenders were down, but they could replace their numbers more than the few Vong.

Thermal detonators, blasters and fletchette launchers targeted the Vong one by one, aiming to cut them down.

From overhead a Coalition gunship hovered over the invading ship and fired a proton bomb directly down onto it….

Boom

Voss had become a second home for Keira of late, as she took time to visit whenever she was being tossed back and forth between Mandalorian and Republic space during the recent affairs that had dominated her agenda. This was her chance to be among friends and family both for a short while, including those that understood her intrinsically well. It was on this planet she had finally been set free from the influence of the Dark Side, and now it seemed she would be returning for quite some time, not that it bothered her. At that particular moment she found herself seated on the floor in her guest quarters that may well have been a semi-permanent residence at this point, playing quietly with her twins, Reid and Kaya, a boy and a girl.

Of late they had began to slowly grow into their abilities in the ethereal, finding it vastly amusing when they managed to levitate any one of their toys in front of them for even a few seconds. It was something that brought a smile to her face, and she joined them in their little game, raising their playthings for them when they couldn't quite manage it before handing it off into their waiting hands. Oftentimes that action was met with speculation on their part before an attempt all their own, feeble as it was. Their signatures in the Force had begun eking out their own existence on the ethereal plane, tentatively proclaiming themselves as individuals. It never ceased to amaze her that these were little lives she was nurturing, molding them into people all their own.

When the both of them stumbled into her arms she hugged them close, pressing a kiss to the top of their heads and nuzzling them gently, much to their delight and halfhearted protests of 'Mama!' as they wrapped their arms around her in return. Eventually they once more ambled off to play, and she watched them with a smile before turning to the only other adult in the room, one [member="Connor Harrison"]. She knew full well she had him to thank for the twins having any sort of future, and for her still being alive, for that matter. He was the one that had finally made her see reason, and for that she would stand by him to the end. Briefly her gaze caught on her armor and weaponry where it was put up out of the reach of her children, that smile faltering for just a second.

Pushing herself to her feet she moved to stand next to him, looking on as her children busied themselves within their own imaginations. "I never thought I'd get this far. A family." She shook her head with a quiet laugh. "It's crazy." Silence fell again, and she returned to quiet observation. The peace wasn't intended to last forever, it seemed, as tremors rumbled in the Force. They forebode nothing more than utter death and destruction, and she pressed a hand to her forehead, brow creasing. "Somebody's here. Do you feel that?" She cast another glance towards her kit, that familiar pit in her gut telling her that it would be time to don that ensemble of war soon. "I think trouble's found us this time."

Stardust watched as she was ignored and vong started running at her...she was all to familiar with their style...and quickly cut down the first that had attacked her

Then she watched as [member="Dredge"] was shot and fell..shortly soon after [member="Valiens Nantaris"] came about and shot him

She nodded to him as she kept attacking...she'd not let these vong live at all..she's seen what they have done

Well...I guess knowing his identity is out of the question"she yelled and kept attacking

A warrior Yuuzhan Vong watched as his overlord went to the ground after sustaining what seemed to be a hit from a sniper, his heart sank and he acted upon sheer reflex as he pulled his amphistaff from the corpse of an SSC trooper. He knew his duty and that this might happen, so letting out one last cry the Vong jumped in the way of the blaster and was shot in the head falling to the ground dead.

Dredge looked at the dead eyes of his trooper and felt something for once, sorrow. He felt sorry for the warrior, and at that moment he coughed again and spoke in a weak tone.

"I surrender..." he said to Valiens.

"I'll tell you about the hostages, I'll give them to you. Just take me into custody, I surrender." He said bringing out his bargaining chip.

The Vong had no intention on dying at the moment, despite how much he loved the thought of it. Finally an end to all of his pain and suffering, but first there was business to take care of. He coughed again and spat more of his blood on the concrete before speaking weakly once again.

"Twenty thousand, on a back water world in Wild space. I surrender."

"Please." He said with another cough.

The attempt was a success, dragging the Sith backwards for a number of meters and separating him from his sword. In response, the creature screamed, physically shaking some of the items in the vicinity. While this might have stunned or terrified a soldier, Audren was less radically affected. But he had the Sith's attention now. The words 'die alone' were spoken, signalling the attack. However, the instant he'd stopped Pulling the Sith, he'd begun gathering the Force for a defense. It might not be enough given the obvious strength of the Sith, but it should prevent an attack from killing him outright. When he saw the strength of the attack though, all directed precisely at him, he began to wonder.

Wondering didn't diminish his own response, which formed the cables of Force power into a shield around his person. He was unexpectedly aided by another Jedi. The blue being formed a shield around Audren's own, taking the first hit. His shields cracked, the effort sending him back along the landing pad insensate. Because of that addition however, the Sephi's shields held. A trickle of blood crawled from his nose at the effort, but he held. A Twi'lek female made her way inside, igniting her lightsaber blades and addressing the Sith. She was swiftly followed by more Jedi, Dune Rhur and Valiens Nantaris, both members of the Sanctum that he knew on sight. The two of them were accompanied by soldiers, some attacking the Vong and Graug, others focusing on the Sith with appropriate weapons.

Finally, the Crush faded and the elfin Knight could direct his focus elsewhere. The Hound started shooting, and the Sith and his warriors charged their enemies. That included Audren himself, a scarred Vong charging in his peripheral vision. In shifting to face the enemy, he brought out his lightsaber and pistol, one sweeping up to block the running slash while the other sent a particle bolt directly into the warrior's exposed armpit. As the Sephi spun out from the attack, he sent another two bolts into the staggered Vong's head. The first blew open the organic helmet and did some damage, the second blew apart the head and skull themselves.

A large number of defenders were down, but their numbers were being replaced by more soldiers flooding in. They played things smart, staying in groups and concentrating fire from a distance. The Sith himself was down too, a round of some sort having taken him in the back. Master Nantaris himself fired a blaster bolt at the Sith's head. And the Hound...that was no longer a threat, a proton bomb ended that one and shook the entire landing pad. The quake launched Audren into the air, and he managed to land on his feet with sheer luck. Yet somehow, the Sith hadn't died. A Vong warrior had intercepted the kill shot, trading his life for that of the Sith.

He couldn't hear what the Sith was saying, but he had little enough time to think on it. A tremendous impact hit him in the back, stumbling him. He turned to face the threat, finding one of the last Yuuzhan Vong warriors dancing due to being riddled with blaster bolts. It hurt to breath, but there was no leaking blood, no skin penetration. The metal plating, combined with the armorweave and kinetic gel, had saved his life yet again. He turned to the Jedi on the ground,

Were attacks live this a natural occurrence on Voss? Saverok reamined silent thinking to himself about what was happening. On his hip rested the Lightsaber of his legacy, It had been quite some time since he had activated it and but the looks it would have to wait another day, The was battle over and by the looks there was a surrender? The old Gen'dai did not understand this chaos and now did not want to, He just wanted to see who this attacker was for himself.

Lumbering into the courtyard the Gen'dai observed silently. Standing by [member="Valiens Nantaris"] side Saverok gazed at the creature that was @Dredge. He did not know him. All he could see was the hatred that radiated from him like a fire. It was hard to look apon Dredge without some regret eating at Saveroks inner mind. Suddenly an image flashed, crimson yellow eyes filled with Malice. The image branded the Elders mind. Blinking several times Saverok took a step back.

" Interesting." He muttered to himself.

Connor Harrison

Guest
Connor sat in the sunken chair, leg crossed over the other, elbow resting on it with his hand propping up his head while he watched [member="Keira Ticon"] be something he never thought possible; a loving mother and selfless person. While Connor never had a long-term relationship, let alone children, he knew how the bond must feel between parent and child. He watched the twins babble, play and learn even at this young age, noting their obvious comfort and dependence on their mother; which proved she was nothing but devoted to them.

Her guest quarters in the Temple, pretty much hers by default, were spacious, even more than his. He’d spent a good deal of time on Voss recently, openly letting people know he was here by way of participating in lectures and training sessions. Even if he didn’t feel welcomed by the “inner circle” anymore, he only had what he had known his whole life – the life of a Silver Jedi to uphold.

As she spoke, he drummed his fingers on the arm of the chair and smiled at her rationalising of the situation, but their peace broke at the same time with a spike in the Force – a stabbing pain in the back of his head that made him sit up and turn around to look at nothing out of her window to the planet.

There was silence, but there was a calling for them; blood lust and rage, vengeance and death. [member="Dredge"] – he had a score to settle. Point proven again! He swallowed the loathing for himself – from Toola to Voss, he seemed to put everything and everyone he cared for in danger. He was right. He was a curse.

Connor stood and moved to the door, turning and pointing to the twins. With Keira, they didn’t need to narrate their feelings and wants; it was mutually understood between the two in their actions as they seemed to be cut from the same roguish cloth.

”You stay here with the twins, got it? They are your priority now remember. I’ll be back.”

He left as quick as he arrived, and made his way to his quarters on the floor above. Passing chatter from Padawns and Knights, he pieced together Voss itself was under attack by a Sith and they were all going to die. Typical exaggerated reaction, but nothing out of the ordinary. Reaching his room, he felt like some old superhero of the stories told by the Masters; adorning armour and their weaponry to go fight evil and save the world.

However this wasn’t fiction; this was reality. For the first time, he pieced on his modified armour after months of leaving it in his wardrobe. He fixed the wrist blade Taeli Raaf gave him, then the gauntlets and gloves over them. The torso plate and shoulder pads came on next which moulded to him to give a more defined look; the belt and cowl came last. If he was going to fight then he would be ready and, maybe, carry on a legacy Corvus Raaf had wanted to do; be a candle in the dark for others to follow. The Raaf sisters, sadly distanced from him now, seemed to have left him with a moral obligation to continue to do the right thing. The armour was a mix of silver, blue and maroon; the Silver colours and a far cry from the deathly black it had been.

The lightsaber which was dented and scorched fitted in his palm as he left, moving through the Temple and towards the hangar to commandeer a speeder to where Dredge had landed. Hopefully Keira would listen and stay to protect the children. He hated the fact he cared so much. That was a weakness right there.

Nantaris was surprised by the suicidal devotion of the Vong Warrior. However, a blaster could fire many shots, and there weren’t that many Vong left. Still, he tossed aside the weapon, taking his lightsabre in both hands and bringing it to [member="Dredge"]’s neck.

He looked at the slaughter and chaos, the civilians murdered. His eyes narrowed and he drew the blade back. An eye for an eye.

The monster’s words did still him…along with that pesky rule about not killing player characters…and he paused.
“Tell your warriors to surrender. You’re coming in with us…and if you so much as twitch the wrong way I will remove your miserable head from your loathsome shoulders. If this talk of hostages is proved false I will destroy you.”

He looked to the Jedi near him. “Bring a Ysalimir, a force cage and shock cuffs. Disarm the Vong and take them into custody. This…monster…is going into space. I don’t want him on Voss a moment later.”

[member="Audren Sykes"] and all the rest

Jenson finally regained his senses as [member="Dredge"] was taken into custody. Jenson was happy that he was being captured rather than killed. Lying on his back, Jenson looked up at the pointy eared Jedi standing over him.

"I see my shield worked," Jenson said, "At least partially." Jenson tried to stand, but he could not get his legs to move. Everything was sore. Putting up his shield had put a great strain on his physical faculties as well as his mental ones.

"If you don't mind," Jenson said, "Please help me up."

Dune and Joza had been wading into the sea of Vong warriors when the situation came to an end. The extragalactic beings had stepped forward to engage them when the pair had tried to get to the Sith monster. Standing back-to-back with the Zeltron, he eyed the Vong around them as they stepped back. Dune finally deactivated his lightsaber but continued to hold it.

"I sense a trap," he said quietly to Joza.

(Im gone for a day and the thread explodes, yay) I crawl out from under a pile of dead Vong warriors, "They put up a fight i'll tell ya. They got a few shots on me but nothing that time can't heal, hey, what happened? Seems like its all over." I see a group of master and apprentice surrounded by Vong, a few Jedi getting up off the ground, explosions marks everywhere, and [member="Dredge"] being taken into custody by [member="Valiens Nantaris"]. Overall it was a bloody good fight, tons of Jedi and Vong died, and best of all Rogue and [member="HK-42"] were some of the survivors of the fight. I look over at my ship, "Aw come on! I just got it repainted!" It was splattered with Vong blood, along with me as well, and had black marks from the explosions that went on around it everywhere. Overall it still looked functional. Hopefully. "I have been running from the Jedi almost my entire life, and now I am fighting with them once more. I need to see Saverok." And so with that I limp into the temple, eyed cautiously from the remaining Vong soldiers.

Nothing in Keira's life had been accomplished by doing what she was told. In fact, one could argue she had come this far through blatantly disobeying and defying expectations, instead doing things her own way. This would be no different, regardless of what she had been told previously. The twins would be safe, she reasoned, with the other younglings who were currently under the protection of a handful of Jedi that had remained within the Temple. After assuring they would be okay she returned to her quarters, studying her armor for a brief moment with something of a distant look before beginning the process of suiting up to face the Vong she now recognized as [member="Dredge"] that had landed on the planet not long ago.

First came the thermo bodyglove after she had stripped down to her underwear, each plate being systematically fixed onto her form with a speed that came only with constant drilling for scenarios just like these. The final adjustments came once everything was in its proper place, and she fidgeted with the wrist rocket for a few moments in order to assure it was calibrated, then the knuckle plate blade until she was certain everything functioned as it was intended. The hooded cloak was clipped on almost as an afterthought, and she threw the hood on after pulling on her helmet and sealing it to the rest of her armor. Instantly the HUD kicked online, that being dealt with even as she moved. At this point it was all instinct.

The remainder of her weaponry, that including her lightsaber, pistol, collapsed slugthrower strapped to her left forearm and her combat knife were in their proper places in seconds, and then she was off down the halls. With her speed augmented with the Force she was able to catch [member="Connor Harrison"] shortly after he entered the hangar, and once again she walked beside him as if it was the most natural place for her to be in that moment. "You're not going on without me. I'm not going to be very good at protecting them from a secluded Temple. The best way to do that is to be out here dealing with the real threat." Her voice was slightly modulated due to the helmet, though not near as much as had been common with her old set of armor. "Besides, it's been awhile since we've tag-teamed."

Dredge lifted himself to a single knee and spat a bit more blood into the ground, there was a small smile that touched his face when he felt Connor pull up to the space port. So it was time to play that bargaining chip a bit more, the Jedi always thought they were in control of everything.

"I wouldn't lie, of course." Dredge said as he clutched his chest.

"Stand down!" Dredge said to his men.

What remained of his men quickly calmed themselves and began to drop their weapons, they would listen to their warlord after all. But as soon as Connor and Keira walked around that corner the mad overlord's tone changed from a weak and dying tone to that of something much darker filled with rage at the sight of Connor.

"However I'm afraid I'm not going to any prison with one of those lizards. No I'm afraid it doesn't work that way, you see I'm." Dredge coughed once more interrupting himself to spit a bit more black blood.

I need to tell you something..." Dredge said as he clutched his breast plate.

The Vong wobbly stood his way to their feet and looked the Valiens dead in his eye.

"They're all dead." and it was at that moment the the Bith Jedi was correct.

Dredge was exactly where he wanted to be. Everything started to come into focus now, the crews of graug dropping down beneath the landing pad, the fact that the sniper shot hit Dredge from the back when every sniper was posted in the front with Valiens, the sudden twitch of the fingers that caused his armor to explode. All of it a way for the warlord to get each important Jedi in one location, under one roof, in close quarters to each other.

So right when he told the man that Dredge simply vanished from his armor, not in a sense of teleportation, but the armor began to hit the ground with clangs as a small Golum like figure darted out of it and quickly dove out of it. Dredge had been using the force to augment himself, to become more muscular and huge. In truth Dredge's true form was about five foot two, and weighed in at around a hundred pounds.

The sound of beast like roars came forward and soon popping up in various parts of the space port were graug Warriors that had dropped down into the port's sewer system. The sounds of blasters going off raged along with screams of men and women dying.

But the fun didn't end there. The naked overlord summoned to him his armor and sword, his real armor and real sword. Like a bat out of hell the weapon and gear shot out from beneath the destroyed ship's landing pad and quickly covered the overlord augmenting his body once more with the dark side of the force.

The two darkside nexus of his armor and sword began to spread the taint of the darkside through the air and Dredge of course knew that he was still very much outmatched against a few Jedi masters. This was why he had a plan, and it all fell in perfectly. Dredge had been doing his research and a Gen'dai Jedi master had joined in the fight against him, he had known of the man and he also knew how resilient they were. Which was why he had come up directly behind him.

Dredge's fist shot straight at the Jedi master's head knocking him out before shooting forward again and plunging it directly through the back of the Jedi Master's chest and out the other end to use the large man as a meat shield against their will. (He's cool with it)

"New deal." Dredge said with a sick grin.

"Any of you make even the slightest move against me I blow Jedi lifts a lot here into a million pieces!" Dredge said as his fist that was plunged into the Gen'dai's chest retracted into his chest cavity and began to flow with the swirling power of what was forming to be an explosive blast.

"Keira my dear! Your precious clones!! I have them, if you want them to live you and chuckles here are coming with me! I want Connor to watch as I slay everything he loves!!" The overlord said as he began to back away from the crew of soldiers his Yuuzhan Vong forming around him like a wall of human shields.

This was all one elaborate trap to lure Connor to him and make him see how nobody he cared for was safe, how far the Sith Lord would go to get what he wanted.

Ooc
Dredge will be making his leave with Keira and Saverok. There are a few fun little arcs that have been planned out for the characters. But it was absolutely amazing writing with you guys. Like intense and amazing!

Things happened with lightning speed, so fast that Dune barely had time to activate his lightsaber and take a few steps forward. Then the Gen'dai Master was in the monster's clutches. His mouth compressed into a thin line from frustration. For all his knowledge and ability, he was now powerless.

Dune once again deactivated the weapon. The treacherous Sith coward hid behind others. He didn't have the courage to face justice for his crimes. In that moment, Dune Rhur would've enjoyed nothing more than meting out justice on Dredge himself. But again, he reminded himself that lives were at stake....

- " I should of killed that monster when I had the chance."- Saverok thought in his mind to himself. The explosion was an effective distraction. Forced to cover his face and head from the explosion Saverok stood up straight as soon as the heat of the fire was gone. It had been couple thousand years since he had been in combat to this degree. The action of moment was abit too intense for Saverok. The Gen'dai master mental was no prepared for any of this. It was written in his mind and translated to his body language.

All was confirmed when his metal plating was struck with hard blow. The plating on the back of his head was reduced to nothing before [member="Dredge"]'s augmented strength. The blow to the back of the head made Saverok dizzy above all else but he was still conscious.

That was not the pain, what came next was.

Spitting out some blood Saverok groaned aloud in pain as the Sith lord plunged his hand into the Gen'dais upper body. Eye rolling in the back of his head Saveroks body suddenly went limb. He was unconscious, The pain was too great.

"AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!"

Magic, magic, metagaming magic.

At this point Nantaris did wonder how the magical Gollum was planning to escape, given that his ship had just been blown up.

Given that Dredge’s writer is not letting the natural course of events happen; ie dying when suicidally death charging the Jedi world, this writer abandons this thread in disgust. Perhaps Nantaris could go dance a jig on Coruscant and then snap his fingers when reality reasserts itself and vanish?

The Ranger would take him to where they were heading, and he perched on the edge of the speeder, but [member="Keira Ticon"] stopped them before joining the party. Connor shook his head as the Ranger set off with a squad following.

”If you weren't a mother,” he called to her over the wind, ”I'd kill you myself, you stubborn schutta.” Connor couldn't help smile a little as he looked over the landscape whizzing past, making him feel alive and safe; the fact Keira was with him filled him with an invulnerable-like sensation that he couldn't get hurt.

However, the smile faded as they drew closer to the city, and two whisps of black smoke signalled the severity of the situation. Blaster noise could be heard in the distance, random shots ringing out here and there. Connor held his held to the right for the Ranger to take them to the outer perimeter. When the speeder slowed, he jumped off and took Keira's hand to help her off.

"Ranger, be careful. Protect the Silvers, but not above the sake of any civilians. Get them out of harmms way and shoot on site. Got it?”

The Ranger's faceless mask nodded and moved out with the small squad out to the city. Connor wiped his beard quickly and began a run towards the outskirts.

”Remember me telling you about Korriban, and [member="Dredge"] - the Sith? Well this is him. He's got an ego worse than yours and ours combined and seems hell bent on proving a point to the world. He tried to call me out before and I didn't bite. Seems he's come knocking.”

He slid down an incline with her, never stopping moving in unison. A perfect team.

”He's going to make a show of things unless we can get him to reason, and I fear that reason will be my head on a plate. We get everyone else safe first - then we take him out.”

The screams and blasters were louder the closer they got, and Connor slowed, taking in the sight before him and crouching low. It wasn't far now, and so they had to keep quiet and keep out of sight to make a more-then-welcome arrival. Connor didn't know who was involved from the Sanctum or who was in danger - allies were near, Masters too, but the stench of the Dark Side was masking auras like a black blanket over their heads.

I turn around just as I see [member="Saverok Barcu"] fall to the floor limp, "No... No.... NOOO! YOU LITTLE KARKER! YOU WILL PAY!" And with that I charged back into battle, not caring about the consequences, that little imp has my master, and I am getting him back. Even the Vong and graug soldiers eyed me as if I was a maniac, which at this point I practically ran toward insanity. "The ones I lost today, my brethren you slayed.... And now you go for Saverok! I swear you will PAY!" Everyone watches in horror as I grab the nearest warrior and tear him to pieces with my bear hands, and then ignite my sabers.

What I wrote this post to

"You wouldn't like me any other way, shabuir." A broad grin spread across her face beneath the helmet as the wind whipped across their armored forms, their respective cloaks catching in the gusts and snapping about them. The HUD in her helmet streamed in any important data, granting her a glimpse a few steps ahead of where they currently were. Just then Thalia spoke from within the confines of her helmet, detailing the current scenario. "A number of Jedi have already arrived and are attempting to diffuse the situation. A sizable number of casualties have been reported, but no statistics have been configured yet." 'Sizable' was the AI's way of saying this didn't compare to the horrors of Chazwa or Roche, large-scale battles that had nearly become commonplace in her life.

It drew a quiet laugh from her, that he would help her from the speeder even when she was fully armored. But it was typical of him, always playing the gentleman. "I know who he is. Don't know if I ever told you, but I had an encounter with him soon after I'd joined the Ravens. You have him to thank for my initial fall to the Dark Side." That was a subject she was able to touch on with a much lighter tone now that she had put it behind her, having learned to let go of the pain and focus on the future rather than the past. It lent her a much more carefree demeanor, and she was able to go out on near-death missions such as this with a light heart and a nearly worry free mind. That was, of course, until she had sensed @Dredge. He changed the game just a bit.

When the Vong overlord called out to her it felt as if her stomach bottomed out, and she turned to Connor, putting a firm hand on his arm in order to communicate wordlessly that she was entirely serious. The time for goodnatured humor was gone. "Connor, you're going to be quiet and listen to me. That malspriha sec'l isn't going to leave without me going with him, and I refuse to endanger the lives of everyone here by not complying. I want you to take care of the twins for me, alright? Let Slade know what's going on too, so he doesn't get worried. I know how you feel about him, but just do it for me." She intertwined her fingers with his own, squeezing his hand in a gesture that was meant to reassure her as much as him. "I'll get out of this, don't worry." Maybe not in one piece, but she would. She always did.

Taking a breath to steel herself, well aware of what hell she was willing walking into, she stepped from behind their cover, pace measured as she made her way to where the armored demon waited. "Alright, chakaar, here I am." Fully armed and armored, maybe, but this was as close to a complete surrender that she would get. "Let's go. You know by now how I feel about waiting around."
