First Annual Dave Benefit Concert (One Sith Dominion of Marna)

Light Rises

Guest
The cameras were ready, the people were coming in, the guest list was provided to Haor Chall’s security droids, and the other units that were provided to assist the One Sith with the event. The Techno Union was pulling out some stops to assist their coreward allies with the benefit. Marek Starchaser, a leading member of the Techno Union had heard about the plight and situation regarding the needless murder of civilians on Coruscant by terrorist that had come to wreck havoc on the planet. It reminded him of the situation that had arisen on Charros, when a terrorist group burnt his plantations while attacking the Xi Char’s droid factories. This was why he was here.

The man was being watched as he went to and fro, making sure the situation was handled. He was helping with the local Coruscanti caterers and servers as Radio Free Coruscant had worked the press and set list. And tonight was the night. The Benefit Concert for Dave and his family was here, even Wilzak, the Rodian who had found Dave’s body had brought his partner Jaeger to the party. They were part of the guests of honor as Wilzak had spent time in the hospital because the buildings were still unsteady. The pair was seated with the family, Janet looking like she was barely holding it together, and the children, Jonny, Pell, Mia, Mio and Tiny Timmy.

And that brought us to where we were now, the simulcast was being set up by Vanir Technologies, and the set list was being prepared, relaxing indepdant music (as Radio Free Coruscant was Independent Music for the Independent Mind) was being played while servers were bringing h’ordeurves around to the guests as they gathered. Stepping down, in a black skater dress with combat boots, dark hair done up more than most of the men in the studio would ever see, was one of the hosts for the evening. Getting the count down from the booth, the selector smiled and started speaking.

This was the first time she was on visual holonet, preferring to be strictly on radio, but for Dave? All things changed.

“Hello all you listeners! This is DJ Lady Cyclone with Radio Free Coruscant coming at you live from the Dave Benefit Concert! We’re being simulcast across the planet by Public Access HoloNet and around the galaxy by Vanir Technologies! As we are being simulcast, we have several stages set up to provide entertainment from our setting to yours! Morpho Sports Complex is housing some concerts as well as our sister facility on Marna, who has been more than gracious to accept our off-world guests due to the heightened state of security on Coruscant. Don’t fear, though, listeners, we’re all very safe here from the terror plots! The Dark Lord has enforced a curfew on other regions but has given us extra security.

But lets go over to our stage on Marna after a word from our sponsors as we prepare to start this concert!”

Hi Neighbor, Have a Gansett

This is a Public Service Announcement to remind all beings on Coruscant to please respect the Dark Lord’s Curfew. This is for your safety, as we, at the Office of the Dark Lord, do deem the loss of Dave as a planetary tragedy, we must remind you that this is to protect all of you. Enjoy the benefit, and life on Coruscant!

This concert is broguth to you by Bright Star Entertainment! Bright Star, travel the Stars on one of our two dozen luxury liners, or on several of our resorts across the galaxy!

And by Morpho Sports Complex! Visit our Lok Stadium!

“Thanks Lady Cyclone! Alright, Marna! Lets get this concert started, we’re going to be hearing from several of the One Sith who are our here to make the galaxy a more unified place. And the evening will be, of course, for the full benefit of Dave’s family! Lets start with our first local act!” Said the DJ on the Marna side, a spritely young Chiss with his hair streaked in gold.

The moons of Marna watched with a downcast gaze at the vast crowd that was gathered on the planet for First Annual Dave Benefit Concert. Sage Bane, a Hand of the Dark Lord, was one of those among the throng of Dave mourners, concert-goers, and people who would go to an opening of a flimsiplast envelope. Thick bandages still hung off the Sith Lord who had been cut with a feth ton of shattered glass the same day that Dave was killed by falling debris during a rebel terrorist attack. The rebels did a marginal amount of destruction considering Coruscant's overall size and its multi-layered levels. Either way, the damage would soon be rebuilt. Dave's family, however, would remain in pieces.

The Sith Lord was dressed down for the occasion, sporting black jeans, combat boots, and a #neverforget tee-shirt with a picture of Dave superimposed over the One Sith logo. A skybox or VIP area would probably be more fitting for a Hand of the Dark Lord, but Sage was taking a moment to enjoy the anonymity of the crowd and the fresh night air. He raised his gaze to the Holoscreens that flanked the main stage. The benefit was being simulcast in both Marna and Coruscant. What was the significance of Marna? Was Dave born there? Was it where he went to school? Did he meet his wife on Marna? Did any of it really matter? It wasn't like this concert would ever bring Dave back. However, the pro-Sith people of Marna were willing to lend a helping hand to ease the loss that Coruscanti citizens felt at the death of this poignant symbol of the Coruscant everyman.

*Ugh, more social gatherings* animus thought... Animus' body was still recovering of the Terrorist attack, his shoulder sported a huge gash where a blaster had swiped at him, but he made his way through the crowd, rolling some special herbs that caused a rather fun effect when smoked. Bought them from smugglers, he licked the rolling paper as he ignited it watching the on goings.
Quickly he was swarmed by a pack of Marnan women who recognized him as a Sith and wounded, wanted to take pictures and talk to him about the "Bravery and strength of the Sith" that defended Coruscant and did their best to protect people like Dave.
Who the hell was this Dave Anyway? Animus shrugged and `enjoyed the attention, few were the times Sith were considered Heroes and Celebrities, so he smiled and agreed as best he could, but careful not to give any of the young ladies any *Bright ideas*

Just then he noticed [member="Sage Bane"] in a peculiar get up. He approached the Sith Master with a bow of courtesy and Obedience. "Master Bane" His eyebrow cocked up as if solving a puzzle. "If i may be so bold to ask, what is a Hand, Sith Lord and one of the greatest Assets of Battle we have in the Sith doing in a charity event, excuse my boldness but i never figured you as the, Social Type"

Animus lighted on his Herb and held the smoke inside, the trick was to hold the herb smoke inside your lungs as much time as possible before exhaling slowly, the effect would be Euphoric and Hallucinogenic. Side effects may cause: Hunger, the thought that everything he sees is funny, eyes would turn from amber to dark yellow, lights and neons would cause erotic visions, and overall clumsiness. Animus passed the thing to the Sage, it's purple smoke trailing into the air as he coughed hard and his pupils dilated.

Thanith Gumara didn't know Dave from John or anyone else. He did however have a great respect for wanting to do something good for the little people, the average citizen and to show the people that their government did care about them. He showed up to the benefit in full dress uniform. Not because he wanted to feel special or feel important. He did it to show that the One Sith military and the Navy specifically was not a bunch of detached killers but that they did care about the loss of life. For Thanith specifically it reminded him that pulling the trigger had consequences. It was easy for a pilot who never saw his victims half the time to forget that part.

Thanith made his way around the crowds smiling and shaking hands when appropriate. It was not long before he found himself face to face with some members of Dave's family completely by accident. He smiled softly speaking to them.

"I am sorry for your loss." "If there is any thing I can do please let me know."

Thanith didn't give his name knowing the nameplate on his uniform and the stripes would be enough. After a minute he politely stepped away heading to find something to drink before things really kicked off.

Dave was special. He was her second cousin's cousin twice removed by marriage neighbor's friend's adopted Big Brother. Even though Uncle Coren and couz Kaia made it very clear how they felt about Sith, she couldn't pass up the fundraiser for Dave.

'Sides, she never had any problems with them and according to her parents the galaxy was going to end anyway, so what did it matter? Even if she, like her absent grumpy party-pooper brother didn't really believe in all that end of times stuff, too. Not really.

Sporting a homemade fan-girl tank with Dave's logo down the front beneath her well-used flight jacket, she dragged Kaia along. Too-blue eyes looked around. "This place is better than Nar Shaddaa Kaia! Maybe we can find you another lizard admirer."

She elbowed her cousin lightly in the ribs and grinned. Of course what happened...or didn't happen...on Nar Shaddaa stayed on Nar Shaddaa. Squeezing in close next to her cousin, she held her comm up. "Selfie!!"

Gaze traveled to two yummy looking guys. Hoooooot. Of course she had no idea they were Sith or Sith Lords or whatnot.

"Hey. Hey. Would you mind taking a picture of us?" The Statchaser handed her comm to Sage before snuggling in close next to Kaia again and trying to give off one of her collected smiles. The smile that seemed to make Zeltrons melt across the bar.

As a local Marna rock band began to get the crowd swaying, Sage noticed Acolyte Malgus approaching. He smiled widely at the man, and when he bowed, Sage waved his hand. As far as he was concerned, they were off duty tonight at the concert. Formalities and titles all could wait for another day. At Animus question, the Hand let out an amused chuckle.

"Just because we are Sith, doesn't mean we can't enjoy the things men do, eh Animus? Things like a beautiful sunset, a rock concert, or the smile from a lovely woman?"

As the first band took a bow, Sage stuck two fingers and his mouth and whistled, then gladly took a drag on the rolled up cigarette that Animus handed him, and passed it back.

Speaking of beautiful woman, Sage's honey-brown eyes were drawn to two nearby young women taking selfies in the crowd. One of them was staring at him like she wouldn't kick him out of bed for eating Cheffa cake. He returned the girl's infectious smile as he took a Holopic of the two hotties.

"Say 'the Dark Lord loves me!'"

Selfie girl's features looked eerily familiar. Especially those deep blue eyes. Where had he seen those eyes before?

"What's your name, pateesa?"

Animus caught the herb roll as he nodded at [member="Sage Bane"] statement. Shrugged he took another drag, letting the smoke fill his lungs as everything started to glow a lot more vividly, laughing as he turned to the two girls bane was taking a holoselfie of he noticed one of them had eyes like Sapphire. His eyes were free to ponder and look and his mind was free to vividly imagine, but it would take a lot more than eyes and looks to take his heart off the Chiss who ruled over it with an Iron Fist. Animus sighed, part of him wishing she could be here, yet the other part knew she couldn't possibly. Could she? he shrugged again this time Smiling at the thought.

"You girls want a drink? " He had to yell to be heard, but he quickly made a few drinks float to him through telekinesis. *show off* he thought to himself, grinning. Well, what fun was there to having power if he couldn't use it to impress girls? "Frozen Stardust, Correllian and Lylek Green" He screamed as he took One of the Two Frozen Stardrops taking the shoot with a loud *woo* at the end. Levitating the drinks around them so Sage and the girls [member="Kinsey Starchaser"] could take their picks.

Throwing up the Horns of Heavy at the band s he screamed as the first notes were played. Due to the music or the effect of the Herbs he was not sure his mind was a mix of Emotion and toxins, a perfect mix, for a great body filled with bad choices and horrible Morals.

Like the rest of Marna, the whole of Coruscant, the planet of Lok, and the quadrillions of beings across the galaxy, Countess Dahma was attending the First Annual Benefit Concert for Dave.

The loss of Dave was a personal one to the art collector/spice dealer. Dave just so happened to be an active supporter of the arts and had bought one or two paintings from her CoCo Town Gallery, The Wilhelmine Dahma Gallery. But given her melancholy mood, Mina Dahma couldn’t help but wonder where Jemmila Kyrgen was right now, although her sources told her the young half-Hapan girl was going by the name Zola. While a concert like this wasn’t really Mina’s cup of stimcaf, she figured that it would appeal to the youth of the galaxy and kept scanning the crowd for Zola. Silly Mina, she thought. There is no way that your long-lost daughter will be at this concert tonight. What are the chances?

Countess Dahma had provided an exquisite backdrop for the stage, courtesy of a local CoCo town artist, and she also made some calls and secured a troupe of interpretive dancers and performance artists to back-up the bands and provide entertainment between sets. The arts were so nourishing for the soul and with this small gesture, the Countess Dahma felt like it was the least she could do to provide comfort and meaning in this tragic time.

Kaia didn’t know Dave. She wasn’t really sure why she was here. Sure, the girl loved concerts, she loved music. It was just how she was, not that she played much, but… well, she should learn. But the real reason for her being here? It was because of Kinsey. What she didn’t know was that there were so many fething Sith here. Sure, Dave was a Sith citizen, but the Sith were…the Sith. Still, she made sure she was coming to the event. She had actually worked with the Underground to make sure that there were going to be people setting up here. A grass roots movement like the Dave Benefit Concert was the perfect place to find the types of people who might know of anything that was going wrong.

The Underground was going to get into the right place at the right time. But for now? Kaia had to play her part. And that meant being out with her super gorgeous cousin who was also super wired on life. “Please no more lizards.” Kaia grinned as she shook her head. She had a tanktop on as well, one that had Dave’s face around it. This was a benefit, after all.

And Dave was eternal. She just hoped that the Underground members were good at playing this game too, not that Kaia was playing too much.

Then it was selfie time? Apparently. She smiled. And then the camera was being handed over.

“The… what?” Kaia tried to smile. Really? Did they just?

Slide...slide...slide.

Wrath of the OS, Warmaster of the Legion Yun'Do, Sith Lord and purveyor of destruction. Plus countless other titles. And here he sat, shuffling through index cards as he methodically memorized each line. Would he do that thing, that old cliche thing? Where the speaker approaches the stand, starts to read off the cards, and then puts them away for a speech that was evidently from the heart? What if there was no heart there, in the first place.

Slide...slide...slide.

He didn't really care about Dave, truthfully. He wasn't sure anyone did. But he cared about the message that Dave sent. And maybe that was the point: that these vigilantes were attempting to spread justice where it wasn't needed, where the people went about their days in relative harmony. Trillions would live in fear not because of the One Sith, but because the universe was constantly something to fear. Chance, far more than that One Sith, was something truly fearsome. A mugger, a wayward cab, a comet from the sky, or a reckless missile from a misguided rebel alliance that couldn't tell the difference between a righteous cause and a candy cane. All these things produced a life filled with poignant and succinct risk, all things fair and beyond the vindictive and 'evil' notions of the One Sith.

Even the One Sith was merely victim to chance.

Slide...slide...slide.

Pushing the cards through into the pocket of the custom made suit, Gabriel stood from the bench and began to mingle. He wasn't one for the disparity of such social interactions, more a fan of the blood against fist, but he would do what was needed. After all, after tonight, no one would forget Dave and his sacrifice for the One Sith.

She laughed.

Wait. Was he serious? The Dark Lord? No way. Dark Lords had fangs and claws and were the dark and broody-types, right? Kind of like the guy that was about to take the stage? [member="Reverance"]

"You're funny," flirtatious laugh left her lips as she retrieved the comm. from [member="Sage Bane"]. Eyes lit up like a super-nova at the mention of drinks. "Yes Drinks!" Youthful fist pumped into the air. And floating drinks!! A smudge of caution signaled somewhere in her brain. Force user. Probably sith. But it was hard to take that caution seriously in an environment like this. Plus, maybe sith weren't so bad as Uncle Coren harped on about.

This one guy was already buying them drinks. Awweeee. So sweet!! And at a benefit concert! And the other guy was way too hot to be a bad dude. He even knew Huttese. So very sophisticated. Obviously.

"Frozen Stardust, don't mind if I do." Plucking the drink out of the air, she tipped it back, eyes watering slightly. Yes strong. If Dax was here he'd be shaking his head. "Oh yes! Introductions."

The drink just made her feel even more warm, fuzzy, and giddy. Fantastic. "Kinsey Starchaser. And this is Kaia. You two?" Hips were already swaying to the music of an opener band.

"Animus, the pleasure is mine beautiful" His Golden eyes saw her, the trait of a sith as he shot her a wink. Animus was enjoying the rocking bands, he loved music and chances to chill, rare things these days. Animus was wearing an open chest back coat, black jeans and heavy metal boots and wrist braces. The herb was now taking effect few moments as he flicked it away, he saw the girls beaming in white light. "You must be angels!" he said now everything was taking in effect but hehad learnd to go with the flow laughing it off. The lights, the music, the company, the refreshment.. all was great!

The tail end of a song was coming in and fading out as one of the opening acts had finished up their set, and the gathered were applauding. “And that’s one of our local acts from right here on Marna! This is DJ Booster, comin’ at you live from out here on the Marna stage for the Benefit for Dave Concert! Take a second to look at everyone here, all the people on this world, and the other screens, Lok, Coruscant… everywhere are coming out to support the fallen from the terror attacks. Its such a great feeling, seeing all these people. And look at that!” The camera panned to a holographic ticker. “This is how much money we’ve raised for the foundation! But lets check back in with our sponsors and the lovely Lady Cyclone back on Coruscant!”

Galactic broadcast of today’s Benefit is being simulcast from all locations by Vanir Technologies!

Of course, another band was playing on the main stage at Marna until [member="Reverance"] was ready for his turn at the mic.

Really, he did say Dark Lord didn’t he?

This was why she had the Underground setting up. She was using Wandering Star as a staging area for them, a few speeder bikes, and some weaponry, not much, though. They didn’t need to be found out too early, but the goal was to set up a safe house, and start meeting with the less-than-desirables, the swoop gangs and the Sons of Anarchy Sons of Marna. She knew they knew what they were doing. A few were locals, and were just scouting space around the One Sith borders. Staging areas, or a team that was aware of movements When the time was ready? The underground could come in, and hopefully inspire the people to throw the One Sith down.

They weren’t going to just blitz in and start attacking at random.

We see how that goes, some insane writer writes up two posts about an NPC who becomes the voice of a generation.

Dave is a movement.

Hail Cthulhu Dave.

There were drinks being ordered? Okay… one… Maybe two.

Maybe.

She was going to keep herself guarded from this group. Sure, she might not have the Starchaser-blue eyes like Kinsey did, poor girl, but she was definitely her father’s daughter if you spoke to her. The slimmer cousin smiled, bit kept a bit quiet. Kinsey could talk.

Kaia was just hoping she didn’t get a parking ticket. How was she on the planet and not freaking out.

Drinks floated around the group as the bands played on. Sage knocked back a shot with Animus and the two men howled. Here at the concert, he was just Sage--an ordinary guy, enjoying music, friends, and the company of beautiful women. Before he was Sith. Before the pain and rage burned over the atlas of his soul, leaving only a barren wasteland and a hunger to fill it with blood.

He picked up two very different auras from the Selfie girls. One of them scrunched her face up in youthful disdain. The other, the one with the arresting blue eyes, was quite attracted to Sage. Dangerously so. His eyes widened when she told him her name--Kinsey Starchaser.

Starchaser

Fields of red slid down his vision. He knew those eyes were familiar. They were Damian Starchaser's eyes. A closer look revealed Coren Starchaser's jawline. No doubt the girl possessed the Force sensitivity that ran thick in the Starchaser blood. Oh, this was a delicious development. It was as if someone dropped a present right in his lap, and that present was a naive little lamb by the name of Kinsey. Sage took Kinsey's hand and intertwined his fingers with hers. Brown eyes searched deeply into her soul.

"My name is Sage. Come closer, leeah. I want to tell you a secret."

Thanith made his way over to get a drink occasionally glancing back to the main stage to catch the most recently announcement. The crowd was getting rather large and apparently included a fair number of Sith. Thanith wondered how many of them he would recognize. He had recently inadvertently crashed a whos who meeting among the Sith. While he had managed to get out of there with his life he was not 100% sure if he could pull it off a second time.

He figured it best to keep his distance unless they spoke first. Noticing a few people around keeping the peace Thanith smiled to one of them with a nod.

Not to far away he noticed a small group getting drinks at the next table over. He looked on with curiosity until he noticed one of them...Sage Bane. He sighed knowing exactly who the man was. Apparently their were if fact not only Sith here but some heavy hitters. While Thanith was loyal to a fault he was sure something bad was going to go down eventually.

Not even a social gathering was safe if a Sith got pissed off.

#Neverforgetdave was the best thing to happen to Eugene Leopold and Wookiee Leaks since Fizzy Bip called him and asked to be the official sponsor of his government secret-leaking holosite. In fact, since he was on such good terms with the soft drink company, he had negotiated a deal to have Fizzy Bip logos, advertisements and products strategically placed at each Hands Across the Galaxy location.

Lucky for him Dave’s favorite drink was Fizzy-Bip.

Who would have guessed it?

Wookiee Leaks needed to increase its storage space due to the amount of leaks coming through about the Coruscant attack and subsequent celebration of Dave’s life and death. Now Leopold needed to sift through what was actually from a viable source and what had come from one of those overly idealistic Coruscanti Resistance types trying to plant false information about the Sith to further their rebellious cause.

With datapad at the ready, commlink on his ear and a live stream of the concert being fed into his electronic glasses, he darted around the crowd, typing, schmoozing and comparing notes with some of Marna’s best slicers and infochants.

If he wasn’t karked out of his mind on vodka-spiked Fizzy-Bip, by the end of the night he would be able to release his biggest leak to date which he hoped would bring Coruscant to an information standstill.

Or at least get him a date with a famous model or something.

Venussia Sasko, CEO of Eridium Industrial, normally detested large crowds, but as she elbowed her way through the sweaty, glit-bit masses at the First Annual Dave Benefit Concert on Marna, a smile crossed her face. The concert was a memorial and Venussia loved seeing people cry, especially because the more people cried the less she had to talk to anyone. So getting a #neverforget Dave beer cozy lodged between her shoulder blades was total win-win.

The young business maverick was in attendance at the First Annual Dave Benefit Concert on Marna because her company had donated a generous amount of money to the Dave Memorial Fund, and well, Venussia was a sucker for all that free, delicious alcohol. Venussia could care less about the politics associated with the whole incident. When she turned on HNN’s coverage of the incident, she found herself distracted by thoughts like: why do the rebels all look like they shop at Corellian Outfitters and why don’t the Sith ever go out in the sun?

It really was such a bummer about Dave though. He seemed like such a cool guy. All he wanted was a happy meal.

Same, Dave. Same.

Oh the things the blond slicer would sacrifice for the Underground. But she wasn't blond tonight. Brown was great. Didn't stand out. Neither did her contacts. The projected disguise was holding. So was her muted force signature.

She perched on a barstool in the open. Concert clothes on. A Trandoshan was on her left. A female twi'lek on her right. The chances of someone bothering her was close to nil based on her scout of best positions.

There was other slicer activity going on. She could sense it through that techno-link she had in the force. For now? She ignored it. She wasn't trying to get a date with a supermodel. She was just trying to create a 'back-door' for the Underground to get their feet in. An ear to the ground on another Sith world.

If Coren knew she was here, he'd kill her. But really he'd kill all the Sith here first. But she had to face her fears. She had to get back on the proverbial Gamorreon mount. She had to do her job.

Fingers pecked with feigned disinterest at the comm on the bar top as she sipped the non-alcoholic glass of wine. One firewall skirted. A few more to go. And a virus to plant.

She snorted slightly at the Angels comment, rewarding Animus with a flirtatious smile and nibble of her lower lip. Eyes shifted sideways to Kaia as if she could ask her cousin what the heck was that dude on??? Uh-oh. Kaia had that tense-shoulder look.

Lips frowned slightly. She didn't know whether to be cautious or to shoot her cous that lighten up look. Fingers entwined with her own and she found her full attention tuned into Sage, thoughts of caution disappearing into the thudding base of the band on stage.

That was a nice name, sexy. Different.

Did his eyes just turn red? Must've been a play from the stage lights. No. They were still that sweet, mellow brown. The kind of pools she could easily melt in. She leaned in closer, letting her free hand drift confidently and flirtatiously across the front of his #Dave shirt as if she could tug him in closer, too.

They were in public. Kaia was right there. Nothing wrong with a little fun, right? This was all just a little fun and more so because her overbearing twin wasn't there.

"Why do I get the feeling you're full of secrets?"

Knowing Kaia, her cous was probably thinking of another s word that he was full of.

"Don't tell me that it's you can't dance." Those starburst blue eyes sparkled playfully up at him.
