First time for everything (Past Story)

And there it was. It wasn't a bad name by any means, but at least now he too had the reason for being fond of it in particular. Being able to honor a great warrior in such a way was always a privilege not only for the fallen, but for the family giving the name as well. He nodded simply. "Of course. I'm glad you're happy. So am I." Looking around the bridge and seeing everything was done, he shot her another glance. "I was thinking about getting some target practice in on the holoset up i have in the cargo bay. Care to join me? Good way to pass the time while we head to Kashyyk."

He then turned and began to head towards the cargo bay.

She brightened immediately at his suggestion. Target practice was always a favorite of hers. She was the best shot in her village and she was absolutely determined to be the best on the planet some day. Lofty goals, but they made sure she kept aiming high. It's as her mother always said, 'if you shoot for the moon and miss, at least you will land among the stars.' Or something along those lines. Her mother was full of a surprising amount of wisdom when she was drunk.

"Let's go. I can't wait to beat you again, Cyar'ika," she teased, reaching for his hand.

"Pfft! Yeah, you wish. See if you can keep up!" She really did have a superiority complex at times. But then, most mandos did. It was how they were trained. Hit hard, hit fast, never yield, and never consider losing an option. It's what made their games more interesting. They were both quite similar this way.

The rest of the trip went by fairly quick, and time soon found them entering the atmosphere of the Kashyyk system. Setting down on one of the docking platforms situated high in the tree tops, Malcom turned toward Rawnie. "Alright, Let's get to it. We'll have to first secure permission to head to the Shadowlands. But I suspect after that, it should only be a matter of time before we catch up with him. Should be easy to spot boots on the ground in that place. Not much else other than wild animals travel those parts. Any questions?"

In the end, it didn't matter who had been the better shot. Rawnie, in all honesty, had been too distracted to pay attention to how he did in comparison to her. Too many thoughts in her head. Too many complicated feelings. But it had been a fun way of spending the time. By the time they arrived, her head was clear as crystal and she was ready to go.

"One question," she said, double checking her rifle, "How much are we getting paid for this?"

Not that it mattered much. They were already here. Still, it didn't hurt to have incentive. Something to look forward to. It probably paid more than mining or selling her furs.
