[member="Camellia Swift"] - I never said anything about making the thread smaller. I said that adding additional small plot strands would help, especially when it comes to reaching a 400-post plot goal in the quietest season of roleplaying. Like I said - a single-strand plot like the one you are proposing, where we sit on a single linear path the entire time chasing one single goal, tends to fizzle. It happens. It's not new, it's also not the end of the world or a bad thing.
Here, direct context in three ways:
One, developing and building ships isn't just zug zug build build hammer on metal. There's testing. There's also training crew, field testing, integrating new technology into an existing order of battle. How would the Republic use this ship? What's its purpose, how would it be deployed in battles? This would perfectly display and answer all those questions.
Two, like I said, there's lots of discussions about fleeting lately. A lot of people are very sheepish about it, and there's a lot of good reasons why this is a thing. This is a great way for us to help people learn how to fleet, the basics of it, and perhaps let us as a faction lead the charge in allaying some of the fears involved.
Three, there's inevitably going to be space battle against the One Sith in short order. This is good practise for us as writers.
Add on top of this? More plot strands means more ways for people to get involved (and thus contribute more posts, making the 400-post goal easier to achieve), it gives people more ways to own the plot personally and be more invested in making said contribution.
