Grand Inquisitor of the EOTL
Aculia listened to the broadcast, smirking as the commander backed down. What a pity, the man had a sense of self-preservation after all. It would have been so much easier to deal with that base, maybe even directly occupy the planet if they had been stupid enough to launch a direct attack. She listened to the rest of the message, where he offered what "help" he could, before trailing off into static.
"Comm officer, see if you can't hail them again." She directed. She wasn't particularly enthusiastic about continuing to talk to the man, but she figured she might be able to bully him into simply surrendering without bloodshed. Once the Authority's chief military surrendered, the government would be sure to fall soon after. And who knows? Maybe some of them might be useful later as some kind of local enforcers....after substantial "reeducation".
"Task Force Gryphon, go ahead and head towards those coordinates but let the SAWACs scout it out first. We need to see if this is just some sad feint of theirs or if they are in actual trouble."
With that, far above the desert sands, the Argus SAWACs began to turn their high-powered cameras and sensors towards the coordinates described while keeping a considerable safe distance away from it. The rest of the Task Force, the War Hawk Squadron and the two Strike Eagle Squadrons, lingered near them.
