For 3000 Years, They Ignored Our Calls for Help | SSC Dominion of Jabiim

Nima Tann

Master of Her Own Destiny
Nima was the first one to wake up in the household once again, and she was feeling a bit bored. So she decided to visit the Intelligence section of Firemane to see what was happening outside the Villa, especially in SSC as she didn't contact them after the "incident". Once she arrived, she started to examine one of the datapads which contained the latest records that has been entered into the Jedi database. She skipped most of the pirates and diplomacy ones, because they never changed for some reason. But one entry immediately caught her attention. A planet, named Jabiim, was the entry and it looked very important. When she saw the entry date, she immediately asked one of the agents there if they were informed by SSC about this situation. But of course, she was shocked by her answer. Apparently, this entry was being ignored for weeks. Nima sighed, and wanted the agent to send the message to the authorities to remind them about the situation. Nima was disappointed in the Order, as she was no Jedi anymore and was still doing their job for them. Oh well, somebody had to.

The message was forwarded to the holocomms of several Jedi, containing information about Jabiim and briefing about the problems that has been happening there. And then Nima would go play with Ice because he was still awake and he needed to spend his energy. Nima mumbled to herself, with of course after another sigh meanwhile the message continued to be sent one by one. "Let's hope they manage to get up and do something about this situation and not ignore it like the last time." But anyway, after she was sure the message was delivered without any problem, she returned to her room and then played with Ice for hours. After it was morning and as the household slowly woke up, she told them about the planet Jabiim and the data she read from the database of the Jedi while having their breakfast. If they wanted they would join the exploration as well!

The Jabiimi people have no love for outsiders. Once members of the Galactic Republic, they were forgotten and ignored to the detriment of their people. Nearly wiped out after 40 ABY, the once rich ore world was left alone to recover from Imperial bombardment so heinous, it forever changed the face of the planet.

The valuable ores are gone, leaving behind only the less profitable and more labor intensive ores to be sifted from the mountains of dirt and rocks dug from beneath the surface.

Vengeful and cut off from those who had pledged aid and then abandoned them, the Jabiimi people turned to self reliance and to some extent, the world has rebounded. For hundreds of years, they have been rather xenophobic but there are sinister whisperings about the depleted resource planet.

The polite story is they have certain propensity for taking in and sheltering orphans and homeless children from off world, knowing the hardships that the disadvantaged face. It would be closer to the truth to call them child slaves. Most of the children brought to the planet are shunted into an old mining complex well outside the capital city of Choal. There the children are worked to exhaustion in a processing facility that is run by the remnants of the Lythian pirates. The pirates trade the lesser valuable ores on the black market, providing kickbacks to the conservative party leadership in Choal to look the other way.

Not everyone agrees with the way things are though. The recent victories of the Coalition all around them have the party bosses sweating as progressive activists are mobilizing in the streets. Inquiries into the mine owners have prompted investigations in the allegations of child slavery but so far, the Lythian pirates are controlling enough of the media and lobbyists that the populace is kept in the dark about the true nature of the mines. The tension is rising to a breaking point.

Where the Jabiimi have been wary of outsiders, they have trusted the Handooine completely, while the Handooine have been subtly controlling Jabiim politics for centuries.

On Handooine, everything is calm and pleasant in Jelwick, but not all is as it seems. The current president of Handooine, Epso Drangea, is secretly in league with the Lythians as his predecessors and provides them with unofficial sanction, drafting the pirates into Handooine's navy. He has surrounded himself with prominent members of the pirate guild in order to help keep Jabiim sheltered, using Handooine's navy to safeguard pirate vessels ferrying both ores and slaves in and out of Jabiim.

The Coalition threatens to destroy centuries of work, but Drangea feels he can politically outmaneuver the SSC leaders. He has invited SSC diplomats to Jelwick to discuss joining the Coalition and how their inclusion would be structured meanwhile the Lythians have orders on Jabiim to liquidate the mine and to evacuate the workers or their remains so that the SSC doesn't find evidence of abuses.

The administrators at the mine believe the higher ups are being paranoid. After all, no one comes to Jabiim. The government tends to forbid visitors and even if the surface is no longer a muddy mess, severe lightning storms still make repulsors nearly impossible to use.

However, the Coalition has been tipped off that there is something heinously illegal about the facility out in the desert, and no one has been able to get through to verify.

The Objectives:

Handooine Mission 1 - Attend the summit with the slippery and treacherous Epso Drangea as he tries to negotiate how Handooine will become part of the SSC. He sees the writing on the wall, but he isn't ready to let the money from his position with the pirates go either.

Handooine Mission 2 - A Lythian convoy carrying some slaves and lots of raw ore has blown through a Coalition patrol going towards the Wheel. Things are liable to get dicey when the SSC gives chase.

Jabiim Mission 3 - The conservative party is refusing to submit to the SSC in any way. Get planetside and join with rebels in the capital to overthrow the corrupt government and free the people from their oppression.

Jabiim Mission 4 - The Lythians have been ordered to liquidate and/or evacuate the workers from their mine but the storms make both tricky. Tipped off by a rebel in Choal, lead a team to discover what is going on and blow the lid off the scandal before the pirates kill their charges and destroy the evidence. Offer medical assistance to the slaves...should you free them in time.

Open Mission: There are still many places to explore, and many problems to solve. One should feel free to explore the Jabiim however they want.

End.

The world was really pretty and fairly interesting as Orihime was looking out from the ship she had gotten, a lot of things had been changing and she had to admit... there was even a small look though while she stood in the robes with her hands clasped behind her back. Waterproofing as the planet below could prove a dangerous prospect if they were not careful of things and She had the intel reports from her mother and what she had been doing when she went out with her step mother Hanna to visit the worlds. Jablim had been one of them and they had helped the people while exploring the world itself so she knew there were at least a couple of people that liked her. Orihime would just have to see about the whole convincing them to want to work with them and the others thing which she could do with the awesome team from Sangral... the world they had discovered minus Zak who likely would try and strand them on the planet to prevent the cooties from spreading to him.

The world was impressive for how plain it was, Handooine was more a planet built to become a staging area for the the real goal which was moving to Jablin where ancient armies fought. Junko herself here was walking under her parasol with her robed kimono on as the floral designs were in a shifting pattern. The robe was over it giving her a regal look as a jedi before she stepped lightly motioning for the padawan with her if she had followed to come with her. Junko's eyes were flicking around to see the bigger things on the world. Around the summit to meet someone was alright and they could work to ensure the diplomats were safe when she was going. Setting up small conversion facilities that would turn the scrap and trash into needed supplies for the people. "Come along."

"We have analyzed the data discs from the Kuat Drive Yards raid and we are ready to proceed to the final stage. The wreckage of what we are looking for can be found on Jabiim"

"Good work, Jessica. But remember that your status as Ringo Vinda's ideal woman is ephemeral, and so is your status as Ringovinda StarYards' public face. I understand that we have unfinished business arising from the raid to complete. Just that it led us into a danger zone"

"We have almost arrived on Jabiim. It won't be long now; all we have to do: find a spot somewhere close enough to the wreckage in these rainforests that can allow a Neimoidian Yacht to land"

"Roger, initiate landing sequence"

The description the various people magazines of Ringo Vinda made of Jessica were quite different according to which magazine you were talking about: an aggressive go-getter, a Mandalorian beauty queen, a lady with immense strength of character, and even a brain with a girl (that one readily acknowledged that a girl with a brain is, medically speaking, a necessity, while at the same time claiming that she could very easily overpower their average reader intellectually). But they all agree on one thing: they described Jessica as a person larger than life on some level. Yet, not even Taking Off on a Star Tour would describe Jessica that way. But nevertheless, Marcia had the Neimoidian Yacht land in a clearing close to the last location of what appear from above to look like some reconditioned Venator to the untrained eye, but not too close. Too close and they would attract the attention of who, or what, hid inside the wreckage of the ship. And they all don raincoats because they know it would rain a lot at this time of the year on Jabiim. As they descend with their respective suites of weapons, Charzon and Marcia both toting a F-11D blaster with data discs in their backpacks alongside a sleeping bag and rations, with Jessica having modified her anti-tank rifle to be able to fire more shots at once with her anti-tank rifle, at the cost of a larger power pack, like those used on single-person rotary cannons.

"It's too big to be simply a reconditioned Venator although several reconditioned Venators did serve as prison ships at the time, mostly low-security. Watch out for the enemy"

"But you have to admit that it does look, from the top, like a reconditioned Venator"

Handooine Mission 2 (The Pirate Remix): Steal the ore, rescue the slaves, kiss the girl (not necessarily in that order)

There was just no helping some people.

Take pirates, am I right? They were even worse than Rebel scum, because at least Rebel scum were rebels for a cause. Pirates were just crooks and con men for the credits.

Also, some looked fabulous in green.

The Silver Sanctum Fleet was scrambling to play catch up to the chop-job freighter that was trying to make the run to the Wheel before the long arm of the law could catch up. And that was a good idea, actually. The Wheel was large enough, and with enough Hutt influence, that stolen goods and flesh for the flesh market was likely to disappear as soon as it reached there.

He ought to know. He'd been there with his former master, [member="Abaigeal E'ron"].

But, as it happened, Zak had already been tracking this pirate crew. It was kinda the social circle he'd fallen into since leaving the Jedi Order. [member="Kalinai Soluza"] had quite a network of contacts. Some you avoided. Some you paid attention to. And some you just watched and waited for an opportunity to steal from the thieves.

The Backwater slid into hyperspace, rapidly approaching the pirates.

...the other pirates that is.

The Jedi had been embedded on Jabiim for several days now, working alongside the rebel forces. After receiving the notification from Nima Tann, the Shi'ido had set off to lend her assistance. Joining the resistance hadn't been too difficult, with majority of the population now opposing the ruling body. Jabiim had been abandoned by the galactic powers for too long now. Rasu wanted to change that.

With the conservative supporters now having been pushed back to the financial and political districts, Choal was almost entirely under rebel control. Despite the stubbornness of the ruling party, the rebels continued to push forward, only growing in enthusiasm at the arrival of their Coalition allies. While the Jedi and the Coalition had been beneficial towards this accomplishment, the achievement would rest with the population for their hard efforts. However one final push was necessary before the planet could look at changing their government.

Several strike teams had already been positioned at choke points across the city, with the remainder of the rebellion preparing themselves for the violent takeover of their homeworld. Rasu sat with one such strike team, leaning against a wall as the group enjoyed their moment of reprieve before chaos erupted across the capital. Turning to face her latest Padawan, Celiana, the Shi'ido studied the young woman, searching for any sign of nerves on her face.

"How are you feeling young one?" she asked, wanting to be sure the Padawan was prepared for the fighting that would soon break out. She had seen to many Jedi fall while other thoughts distracted their actions. She did not want to add Celiana to that list.

I'd been watching the rebels celebrate their recent victories in their quest to take back their home. It was different, I was glad to be a part of helping others claim their freedom. Just then I felt Master Gan's eyes on me almost as if, she was searching for something in me. Then she said, "How are you feeling young one?" Turning to my new master I met her gaze and responded to her question. "I'm prepared for what may happen Master Gan. Loss of life weather these rebels or the current powers on this world....It's unavoidable in conflicts like this. I'll do what I must to survive and protect others."

I'd idly called my saber to my right hand and it sat there spinning in a silent circle above my hand. "I apologize for my mind being elsewhere I was...contemplating the future Master. So many possibilities here on this world and in my own life...." "Master, my training as Echani and Mandalorian both had their parts in my life but I have a question if I might ask it of you?

Celiana spoke as one who had yet to accept the hard truth of the galaxy. Death was unavoidable, and as much as the Jedi would try to conserve it, their reach could only stretch so far. However Rasu admired the compassion of the woman. The knowledge she possessed and understanding of the galaxy was already far beyond many her age. It would definitely be a change from her previous students.

The woman's history was a mystery to the Shi'ido., one that she would have to learn at a later date. However she was confident in the Padawan's abilities to cope with the situation before them. Their previous mission to Telos had proven that Celiana could handle herself in a tough situation. At least this time, the foes they would face would be in a physical form, with little to no Force-awareness. Turning again as the Padawan spoke, Rasu offered a warm smile before responding.

"You may ask me anything Celiana. But I advise you to not dwell on such distracting thoughts once the operation begins." she said, concerned now that her desire to talk might affect her focus during their strike.

I sensed a slight worry from Master Gan...If I had to guess it was that I was young and she was wondering if my thoughts would be elsewhere once this area became a battlefield. That and that she was under the assumption that perhaps I'd never taken a life before and would I be able to once the fighting started. That wasn't the case once the fighting began I became a mix of Echani Firedancer and Mandalorian blade warrior. Master Gan answered me saying, "You may ask me anything Celiana. But I advise you not to dwell on such thoughts once the operation begins."

Blowing a breath of air out and pushing my bangs out of the way I sighed. Then I asked, "Master, have you ever lost someone? Not necessarily in battle or through a fall to the Dark Side. But through perhaps their brush with the Dark Side? Where they had touched that side of themselves and became worried about hurting someone they cared for. They perhaps distanced themselves from you? I'm sorry if it seems I'm speaking in riddles Master."

I began my waiting for Master Gan's answer by re-coiling my twin segmented razor whips and pulling my Echani honor blades from their sheathes on either hip and sharpening them...

A sense of understanding passed over the Shi'ido as the Echani's concerns became apparent. Something was troubling the Padawan but the specifics escaped the Jedi Master. Obviously Rasu would learn more as they grew closer, however for now, the Shi'ido could only be patient and do her best to understand what the young woman was going through.

"I think I understand Celiana. Our emotions are a powerful tool however we cannot rely on them as a crutch. Strong emotions should not carry the weight of our power otherwise we abuse them." Rasu replied, wondering if perhaps the young woman was implying about her feelings for another. She had experienced similar emotions, acting on them and feeding of the feelings that came with it. What had at first seemed a blessing, had turned into a curse as the man she had loved died, and their child lost to the darkness. Grief was an all too common emotion however her training allowed her to put these aside.

"You cannot let these feelings hold you back though Padawan. If I understand correctly, then I will warn you that while attachments are no longer forbidden, they come at a price. There was a reason Jedi once freed themselves of attachments." During their time on Telos, the Shi'ido had sensed something between the two Padawans present. Acting on this thought, Rasu wondered if there was some connection between the pair. Either way it was not her right to poke her nose into places it didn't belong. Celiana would reveal her thoughts in her own time. Rasu would act only as a guide, offering wisdom when she deemed necessary. However as the situation grew closer to boiling point, Rasu attempted to wrap up the conversation before the pair would be forced to action.

"What is it Celiana? I know we haven't had time to truly get to know each other, but you can trust me as your Master. What is troubling you?" Turning to look at her fellow rebels, she could sense the growing irritation and anxiety rising. It was soon time to step into the fray. Checking her chrono, the group had mere minutes before the signal would be struck and the strike team would begin their mission. "Be quick about it dear. Duty will soon call us to arms."

As Master Gan spoke I listened, I could sense concerned interest from her and the tension of the rebels all at once. There was a flash of recognition as she spoke and I could tell she was rolling my question around in her mind trying to figure out if I was speaking about myself or someone else. At the end of her evaluation of my question she said, "What is it Celiana? I know we haven't had time to truly get to know each other, but you can trust me as your Master. What is troubling you?"

I sensed it too, the anxiety, eagerness, irritation, and frustration emanating from the rebels. I looked over them as Master Gan said, "Be quick about it dear. Duty will soon call us to arms." Turning to face Master Gan I said, "Master I asked those questions specifically because I'm trying to understand another person. The things I spoke of I am not personally struggling with but they will perhaps affect me in the near future. I'm trying to understand someone I care about and for, unfortunately the way I best understand others or gain understanding of them is through combat in the Echani ways. It shows a side most others wouldn't see..."

Making eye contact with Master Gan I saw quite a few things....experience, adventure, sacrifice, and compassion. A good party mix in my opinion, looking out over the rebels and taking in their anticipation again I said, "Who knows Master? Perhaps I'll learn a bit about you through this mission and the battlefield...Though perhaps a cup of caf when we've finished here to get to know each other better?"

Charzon knew that a ship capable of ferrying 100,000 prisoners would be a massive prison ship. Heavy Star Destroyer-sized, judging by the records of the time. Jessica never, ever expected such antiquated heavy SD schematics to be as closely guarded as those in active production, much less when they were last used as a prison ship operationally. The last known picture of that particular ship was purported to be taken at the Wheel, alongside two more prison barges, just a short hop from Ringo Vinda. As they made their approach towards the conning tower of the ship... they discuss whether to expect convicts or not. Its location was acquired at the cost of several KDY security guards' lives, and Jessica getting injured, forcing the Maersk of Lanteeb to divert on Alderaan to drop her off at an hospital. They make their advance, making it look as if they were normal hikers going on a hike to avoid attracting the attention of the Lythians.

"A prison ship crashing is often a way for all too many a convict being ferried in it to escape"

"There may no longer be convicts onboard; their descendants either built a society inside it or escaped to other worlds. Keep your eyes open" Marcia told the rest of the team.

"The ship crashed so long ago that it would be fruitless and useless to track down any survivors"

"Stand and deliver, pretty ladies: what are you doing here?" a Lythian pirate asked them along the way.

"We're looking for ruins, for historical clues dating from the Galactic Civil War" Charzon told the pirate, reaching for her blaster pistol.

Handooine Mission 2 (The Pirate Remix): Steal the ore, rescue the slaves, kiss the girl (not necessarily in that order)
Location: Hyperspace

In space, no one can hear you rock out.

The Nautolan's head-tails whipped back and forth with the motion of his head. His index fingers transformed the console into a drum set. And the teenage pirate blasted rock-and-roll as continued to close on the freighter that was making a run from the Silver Sanctum Fleet.

They were going to have to drop out of hyperspace in order to verify their spatial coordinates, unless they had a Rekali on that chop-job. That was a long-shot however. Mandalorians didn't exactly take kindly to finding their tech on just any junker out in space.

There was a relatively empty area of space ahead, occupied by a fading nebula. If Zak was going to drop out of hyperspace anywhere, that was definitely the ideal location. Low probability of hitting anything. Plenty of outlying astrological landmarks to triangulate a good position.

As he watched, the blip on the sensors that marked the freighter's location pulsed. Once. Twice.

Then disappeared.

They'd dropped out of hyperspace.

Reaching forward, the Nautolan slid the hyperdrive controls forward. The mottled sea of hyperspace became the elongated white streaks as the Backwater began to decelerate into normal space.

Here was where the fun began.

Sabetha hurried along, caught like a rowboat bobbing along in the wake of a luxury liner. She had come with her master to Handooine, only marginally sure of what was happening and what her role here would be. For now, she followed behind with a quiet "Yes ma'am."

She hadn't been at Voss for long before they had received their summons, calling them and other Jedi of the Silver Sanctum of Jabiim and Handooine. Just long enough for the girl to start settling in to the routine of the thing. Just long enough for her to learn some of the basics and receive an underpowered training lightsaber. It dangled on her hip, and she liked the weight of it, even if she wasn't fully comfortable with its use yet.

Jabiim Mission 3

Truth to be told, Alaki had found her time with the resistance chillingly liberating – mainly due to the fact she could finally escape the omnipotent presence of the Light Side found around Jedi temples and their inhabitants. After years of teaching herself to hate the Jedi and everything they represented, the seemingly simple task of living among them suddenly became a fight in its own right. The teenager couldn’t help but tremble with disgust whenever the slithering Jedi presence filled by light touched her own aura, corrupt and vicious. Naturally, when the opportunity to take a temporary break from that presented itself in form of helping out the resistance on Jabiim, the girl did not hesitate for a second. Without any Jedi to watch over her, she was free to give into her Dark Side addiction, despite fully realizing the detrimental effects it would bring to her body and soul. She could never resist though, no matter how hard she had tried; always drawn to the Dark Side like a moth to a flame.

Sitting on an ammunition crate, the Chiss passively observed the rebel group she had been a part of for the last few days, watching the men and women lick their wounds after the latest engagement. So far they have managed to pull through one fight after another, yet the taste of exhaustion in the Force betrayed their void expressions that foolishly tried to mask the real feelings concealed beneath. Fatigue and numerous casualties started to wear them down more than the conservative forces, which reflected on their performance. Alaki could sympathize. Clad in a suit of heavy armour, scorched and damaged beyond repair in several places, the young fallen Jedi tried to find relief in the Dark Side, empowered by the fighting. Tightly clutching a silver, metallic cylinder in her right hand, she focused on the despair emanating from her comrades.

Lord Vader’s silence only added to the thick tension that hung in the air. Ever since the lost battle of Coruscant, the sentient crystal had refused to talk to her, adding to the Chiss’ frustration. Releasing it upon the opposition felt natural and went hand in hand with her Sith training – and she constantly had to remind herself to at least try to follow the Jedi way. The blue-skinned girl still shied away from combat unless necessary, knowing its destructive lure might as well prove fatal least she treaded with great care. Unfortunately, combat ranked among the very few things she was admittedly good at, making her an invaluable support to this rebel cell and their cause.

Junko continued to lead the way mostly out of habit as she didn't see or have anything pressing yet. Others were off handling slavers, bandits or whatever might try and killl them while oppressing slaves. Which was important it would be a very dangerous thing to leave running around. The ones who were meeting with the people here to handle some negotiations were working just as hard when she noticed the girl just following behind her and she seemed kind of down in the dumps... Which was strange given all of the things. "You seem quiet and sullen padawan." junko continued to watch while she was looking over more of the desert area before clasping her hands behind her back and speaking when she looked over the landscape. "Use this as a chance to practice to your force skills."

Luckily the three ladies remained behind cover as the pirates rushed forth to engage them. Since the situation didn't call for heavy firepower, Jessica (which didn't feel the need for a beskar'kandar but is nonetheless armed as an anti-tank mando'a would) just pulled out a F-11D which, to her, is a sidearm; her SI-74 has now the ability to fire 15 rounds before requiring replacement, at a rate of one every three seconds. Now that all three have a better feel for combat, Marcia has better aim with standard sidearms, but clearly Jessica's strength lies in heavier, long weapons. They killed one pirate apiece before clawing their way back into the woods, while the pirates aimed close but not quite hitting them. Again, the trees were pretty big willows so while Jessica would be the easiest to hit, they closely missed their marks. Only snipers would have been able to hit them from behind trees; they had the aim of One Sith line infantry. Then again, so did these ladies.

"Remind me to purchase a WESTAR Skirmisher armor once we return"

"That would seem overkill for you unless you want to work for Mandalorian shipyards after this project ends, Marcia. Same goes for you, Jessica"

"Roger, roger"

They plod through the sea of trees on a trail that was in the general direction of the wrecked prison barge they came to Jabiim for. Jessica kept a copy of the last known image of that particular ship taken at the Wheel before it crashed on Jabiim. She keeps a copy since it came with the location of the wreck in the KDY database, but also because she didn't get her hands on the schematics themselves during the raid:

Kurayami had decided it was a nice day for a flight and left a message for Raylia that he was heading out and would be back soon. At this point it looked like the last part of that might be a lie as his comm beeped. He reached out to the console onboard his Amara-class interceptor and punched the button to play the message. It was listed as being an SSC frequency so he figured it was safe enough to accept. Fortunately he was right about that, and within a fe moments he was getting a briefing on the situation at Jabiim and Handooine. Nima Tann...he couldn't say he hadn't heard the name before but he couldn't easily place a face to the name. He pulled up information on the fastest hyperspace route to Handooine that would put him not too far from the Wheel either. It was a short time before the navicomp beeped, letting him know that the route had been calculated and coordinates were set.

He eased the throttle forward, engaging the hyperdrive as it reached full forward position. As a safety measure there was a switch that allowed him to flip it only when the throttle was firewalled and only could be moved while another button was held down. Made it less worrisome about an accidental activation during combat. Upon doing so he watched as space around him drew forward, blurring together as he watched the flight data scroll by on his HUD, all systems were optimal and he had plenty of range to make the jump quickly and put him in place for an intercept course without too much extra effort on his part.

He leaned back in his seat and tightened his harness as he composed a quick message to Raylia to let her know that he was indeed going to be late, but that he had gotten word of an important mission near Handooine. Hopefully she wouldn't hold it against him that he was going to disable vital systems on transports full of slaves and ore that were headed to the Wheel. Something told him though that she would understand after having experienced the place herself not too terribly long ago.

The trip would take a few hours and so he closed his eyes, resting during the jumps that would bring him back to his element, where he felt at home...space combat.

The first shots took out the shield generator.

That was actually a lot harder than it sounded. The shield generator could look like the communications satellite, and it was often near the main engines. So a poorly timed shot could trigger a catastrophic engine failure that could blow up the ship.

Suffice to say, being a pirate required a lot more skill and finesse than people gave credit for.

...maybe because those credits were what the pirates were stealing in the first place...

The freighter was making a run for it, but the Auril Sector was too densely populated with nearby systems and hyperlanes for anyone to make a blind jump here. Not unless they had a death wish.

So now the chase was on.

Joza had been returning from Dubrillion, having spent a few days on the picturesque planet among the men and women of the Mandalorian Empire. She wasn’t really a Mandalorian, but being a Warmarshal’s daughter had its benefits. She had gotten to meet the Dark Jedi who’d helped in the fight against Darth Orcus, realizing him to be friends with the deceased Nikias.

En route towards Voss, the datapad embedded into the blaster on her wrist pinged. From somewhere else in the ship, her own personal datapad also pinged. The damn thing was probably wrapped in her bed sheets, seeing as how she’d been catching up on the latest season of All My Circuits last night. Too many plot twists to keep up with, but she enjoyed a dose of drama that wasn’t coming from her own life for once.

Firemane Intelligence Services. A pair of red brows arched above her bangs as her eyes tracked immediately to the name of the sender. This was probably important. Scrolling through the message quickly, Joza caught the gist of the message. A rich world mined to its core, wary of outsiders and prided itself on self-sufficiency. Reading the words child slaves made her gut lurch, however. Yeah, she was definitely getting in on this. The Zeltron was very familiar with slavery—being one, and breaking others out of bondage. Reading more thoroughly, she pursed her lips and collapsed rather ungracefully into the co-pilots chair. Her pilot, Ivan, didn’t even bother to spare her a sideways glance. He was both used to and uninterested in Joza’s dramatic antics.

Rescuing hostages could be tricky. They were often guarded, and sometimes even too scared to leave lest they get caught and receive punishment. Her own breakaway from Kossak the Hutt happened when she was being transported with other slaves. She’d spent hours learning the habits of the crew, when they liked to eat and sleep, and what their vices were. It was still a miracle that she’d been able to pull it off, and there had been a large chance that she and the other slaves would have been killed. That was less than ideal.

Tapping the nav in front of her, she grinned as a small ping lit up, identifying another Sanctum ship in the area. Ivan’s gaze shifted, wary of having the pink woman touch anything. Typing up a quick message to Orihime, Joza figured that the Jedi Knight had received the same message.

Hey Orihime,

Desert adventures? I hear there’s something nasty in that old mining facility. We should check it out.

-Joza
