For Old Time's Sake (Danger)

The Admiralty
With Transfer Essence and the secrets of Plagueis finally unlocked to him he was functionally immortal. Man, that sounded cheesy and lame, which is why he didn't share it out loud with her. She wouldn't believe him and even if she did she might just get curious enough to try and shoot him. He would rather avoid having to spend a decadefiguring out how to escape the soul anchor, at least if he could help it.

'Who says I don't?' Mischief apparent in those eyes, they were curious. If Danger had ever bothered to look before and if she bothered to look now she would see the difference. Ice then, calm ocean now. Same color and yet it meant all the difference in the world. But no, this wasn't about what he wanted, this was about what had to be done. He owed it to her to go and check up on... her, other her. The one that was vulnerable now more than ever.

He could see she was dodging, but he let it go. If she wasn't ready, she wasn't ready. Ain't no man capable of pushing Danger, if she didn't want to be pushed,

Again, she would lean back against her chair. For once, that plush black leather would dwarf her. How curious.

"Is that so?" both brows would arch up. "That sounds more like it." she'd counter, rising her glass in a toast to him.

"To the galaxy's most precious resource; Time." she'd say, but the words were hollow. It wasn't to insult him, no her mind was still racing elsewhere.

"Perhaps you are willing to share?"

Now... oh boy, now she had done it. She could have asked anything, but she had to ask -that-. Struggle, that was what Jared was experiencing right now, he went silent for a while. Simply studying her and for maybe the first time really seeing her, the lines, the frown, she was getting older and yet it was only now that Ovmar noticed. Perhaps he simply didn't care all that much about beauty anymore, or mayhaps he was so used to his own elderly appearance that he was more surprised to see people be young.

'I could.' the Sith Lord responded cautiously. 'But it would have consequences.'

There came a slow and deliberate curve of her lips; her expression was unreadable, but there was a look in her bright green eyes that would suggest she was well aware of consequences.

Everything had a price.

Everyone had a price.

Didn't they?

Words came to her then.

My silence!? You can't buy something I would never sell.
You could offer me twenty, hell fifty, kark it, a hundred percent of that company and I would still say no.
Anyone could! I would tell them to kark off just like I'm telling you!

A bitter twist drew over her mouth again. She took another swig of her whiskey.

"I reckon any are willin' to pay the price for a bit more time Jared," there it was. She used his name. His first name.

"More so for a chance to redo the past."

The Admiralty
He straightened out, eyes fixating hers when she talked about changing the past. Did she know? No, could not be. The only two people that had known about it... one was in this room and the other had erased herself from this timeline. The pebble of time had been willed to the Grandmaster of the Selab, but once you spend centuries outside of time. Well. Things changed. The pebble was no longer needed, at least not according to his estimations.

This was dangerous territory, very dangerous.

Jared was not sure if he could give her another shot, another roll of the dice. Rave's game had already endangered the fabric, but perhaps... if it had been done in a sho- no, not possible.

'The past... is dangerous, more so than the future.' the Sith Lord finally answered. 'I could give you your youth back, if that is what you truly desire.'

Danger gave him a flat stare, and she gave a short laugh.

"Keep your hoodoo to yourself, Ovmar." she'd drawl out, "Ain't got use for that. I'll take my years just fine like my daddy done did." come the void or hot water. She had no need of the Force and what manner of gifts or curses it could bring.

She got this far without it; she damn well didn't need it.

"As for the past... sometimes..." her wrist would rock the glass of whiskey in her hand.

"One rather fix the mistakes." Funny, she was starting to feel a bit better. Or was that just the whiskey?

The Admiralty
Flat stare back, before he starting laughing. A hearty laugh filled with mirth, as genuine as Ovmar ever has been in the presence of anyone. He took the refilled glass and took another good sip, still feeling relieved she didn't ask about the past. Ah... what a problem that would have been, the trickster in him might have been a bit sad, but this was better, much better than the alternative.

'Ah... Danger.' Ovmar finally said, perhaps a bit of sadness entering his tune. 'I am going to miss you.'

Because if she would not take his hoodoo help, in even if he would survive. Well, people weren't eternal.

There came a softening to her expression. Along with a somber melancholy.

"You'll likely be the only one Jared." she said a bit too truthfully; the words slipping from her mouth before she could hold them back. It was due to her state of mind; her emotional imbalance.

She had been fractured, and she didn't quite know how to get that back together.

The Admiralty
Raised eyebrow, scratch of the beard. To do or not to do.

To do.

'You are in need of a vacation.' Ovmar firmly stated. 'And you still owe me a date. Come with me.'

Mischievous grin again.

'I will show you things you could only dream about.'

It was a tempting offer.

So very, very tempting.

For the first time that night, she gave him a genuine weak smile. It was too soon. Too raw. Too...

Her vision would blur again, eyes falling to that glass of whiskey.

"I can't."

The Admiralty
His own eyes fell on her glass, too far gone that. In a different time, when he had been younger he would have simply abducte- well, it could be good for her no? Get her outta the situation, give her some relaxation and time off the problem. It would heal her mind, mend it whereas shoving herself right back into work would have the averse effect.

So really, he would be doing her the favor, no?

The Sith Lord supposed so and nodded, to himself though Danger would probably think it was to her admission,

'I will ask you again tomorrow, you are in no condition to decide right now.'

The set of his jaw, firmness and dedication in his eyes would show her that this was one discussion she wouldn't win.

There came a weak smile. Then a nod.

Of course, she wouldn't be here tomorrow. By this time she would be at her stronghold. Yes she needed a vacation, but right now that was the sanctuary of her own home.

And time.

Yes time.
