Ben Corscifine
The Left-Behind
Only after Ben had said something stupid did he realize that she had been inquiring about when Ben intended to launch the mission to Coruscant. Well, at least she hadn't rejected him for his enamored response. He tried to put out of his head the thought that he would become a target of James Justice's.
Ben knew this girl was trouble.
He resolved that he would have to eventually let go of the obvious attraction that he had for Jessica. After all, she was a criminal, and she was not a servant of the Order and the Republic in the way that Ben was. A relationship with her could compromise his ability to uphold his vows, and could cloud his judgement. Perhaps a weaker soul would not create this sort of...distraction, but as the lovely near-human extended her hand and led him out into the perfect, starry night, Ben knew that she was far from a weaker soul.
In fact, next to his death master Corvus Raaf's, hers was the strongest he had ever come into contact with.
The two walked silently through the streets, as if engaged in a mutual pact to draw out these moments. There were preparations to be made, and business to be attended to, and Ben knew that this had to become his focus.
Yet, he would be lying if he said something of moment hadn't occurred in that cantina tonight...and in that cafe..and on these streets. Every moment of the night had felt like it carried a weight to it, something indescribable and inescapable.
And now they had arrived at Jessica's ship. It was time to say goodbye. Ben and Jessica stood silently at the base of the entrance ramp.
