Your not my Dôshalo...

The Korun sat back, arms crossed, lips curling into a wry smile listening to Lady Sylvia Organa's words. His eyes narrowed slightly, as he considered how carefully she wove her arguments—how she sought to balance diplomacy with a steadfast belief in her ideals. Yet, there was something irksome in her polished rhetoric, an air of smug superiority beneath her calm demeanor. Brun saw it was a hallmark of Alderaanian politics, a genteel way of twisting the knife with the utmost elegance.

Still, he couldn't deny the wisdom in some of her points. Educating the masses, building bridges instead of walls—it was a noble sentiment, and one that Brun would respect in theory. But only in theory.

Brun blinked and rolled his eyes. Dod—that fool from Cato Neimoidia—had to open his mouth. Bruns' lips curled into a half-smirk, his eyes flicking to the Neimoidian in amusement. The insinuations about the Alderaan delegation's influence over the Chancellor were transparent at best. It was a tactic he'd seen time before but not at this scale. Not in the senate. It had no place to be said here in the Koruns mind. A subtle Jab to undermine the credibility of the Organa household as a whole.

"Is this really how they're going to play this? With accusations so thin they might as well be made of gossamer?" he mused to one of his staff in a whisper to the ear. "I've seen more convincing challenges from the children in Pelek Baw." Then he shook his head from side to side.

Alicio Organa Alicio Organa 's sharp retort, though polite, did not go unnoticed by Brun. The subtle but palpable tension in the room between the two was a delicious backdrop to the rising undercurrents of conflict. He leaned forward slightly, his eyes narrowing as Lady Organa responded. Her words dripped with practiced diplomacy, but there was fire in them—a quiet, restrained fire that he respected. She wasn't about to back down. Well, well. So the Alderaanian lady is as sharp as her reputation suggests, he thought to himself.

He jotted down some notes and wagged a finger to his assistant to do the same. Then he commenced to make a rather personal statement the only way Brun knew how. " By Grandfathers shoulder, it's hard to see how you two would even manage to make a decision that isn't overly cautious, Senator Organa( Lady Sylvia Organa Lady Sylvia Organa ), or overly complicated, Senator Dod( Monaray Dod Monaray Dod ). After all, it's not every day we see such a perfect match of indecisiveness from Alderaan and convoluted reasoning from Cato Neimoidia. Frankly, it's rather amusing watching the two of you waste session time with endless speeches and debates that lead nowhere, as if avoiding action is some form of skill." His nostrils flared wide and brows furrowed at them both as he gestured rather aggressively with large fingers.

" My personal observations and objections aside. I concur with the proposition put forth and to briefly address ( Dassid Hydia Dassid Hydia ) Senator Hydia's question at hand. It would be better suited to move away from the rather vulgar term of "Registry" and instead explore a "Voluntary Census". In combination with the empowerment purposed for citizens of the Galactic Alliance here. I recommend we let the people decide for themselves whether a list of any sort should be filled or not. It is their business after all. Not ours." He spat and concluded by patting away sweat off his forehead and gave a wide eyed glare to everyone before shaking his head to himself and returning to his seat.

Damian Du Couteau, Senator of Empress Teta

Damian remained seated as he listened to the other senators deliberate and respond, their responses shaping slightly between themselves. Softening the edges of some messaging while hardening the defense of others, the young Du Couteau heir patiently jotted a few notes as he compared and contrasted his own thoughts and retorts. Though truthfully as he pondered on his next words to speak in front of all, he sighed and felt a weight begin to roll off his shoulders.

Whatever emotion that had fueled him to stand and speak had vanished, leaving behind a tired vessel. Perhaps the only thing prodding him to step up were the cushions the Senate Chambers provided and provided no comfort for his exhausted soul. Damian continued to mark down a few notes, mostly out of habit, his eyes shifted from one Senator to the next. It was mostly bluster and more emotional leverage, the topic of the Force and its connection to the Dark-Side nearly made Damian snort.

Surely there still remains a class of Senators who encountered and faced the zealots of the Maw? Remembering their utter destructive nature and their Imperial leaders that allowed them to fester. He kept himself from shaking his head in disgust and refrained from making a pointed note on his data-slate. It was quite the interesting turn of events, but there weren’t any serious considerations to soften the approach with Sith and their practices. Damian had no qualms creating new committees, the budget to include a new administration was clearly well within the purview of the Chancellor. One of the perks of the job.

Damian looked across and wondered what kind of planet Alderaan truly was, the Chancellor and he had experienced first hand the true depravity of the Maw. There was no hope in turning millions of willing volunteers of the Maw, now the Dark Empire, towards the light. As a Force user you would have. . .must have felt what their dead hearts held and their eyes clearly showed that day. And yet the Chancellor showed no indication to push towards harsher punishments of those who preach the Maw’s message.

“Truly a remarkable planet,” Damian muttered breathlessly. The current Senator Lady Organa deserves his respect for her own determination and resolute nature. He found her proposal naive when confronted with what he has bore witness to; but the young Du Couteau found the galaxy a cruel teacher that offers plenty of experience to those who have yet lived through the worst. While I’ll never wish for misfortune to arrive to anyone, the galaxy finds a way to deliver it to everyone eventually.

He gave a glance towards the Senator of Duro, Dassid Hydia, Damian recalled him from back when on Coruscant when there had been a discussion on freeing the, then Senator, Alicio Organa from the Mandalorians. Damian was thankful for having both Senators acknowledge Teta’s current occupation, and Damian intended to foster that fledgling support. The young Du Couteau heir knew the importance of planets like Duro, they were stalwart defenders of the Alliance much in the way Corellia continues to be for the core and the Alliance. His father witnessed how capable the two planets were during the blockade of Byss, neither planet suffers fools or traitors.

Damian listened as the conversation returned to the topic of the registry and he took his time to focus on new reports arriving to his data-slate. He had no opinion on the matter, only that collecting data-points always provided information that could be used for later projects. Such as these new trade disputes near the border worlds of the Colonies and contract disputes for new refueling stations. Damian almost wanted to exhale in exhaustion once again, but a part of him relished the idea of being burdened with these reports. Regardless of the conclusion the Senate Chambers finds themselves had in no positive effect on his sleep schedule. Damian figured that at least with so little sleep he needn't worry about any future nightmares haunting him in the meantime.
I guess there's always a silver lining.
