Forcepike - Lightsaber resistant?

So I've read the wookiepedia article on forcepikes and it says it is powerful enough to withstand a lightsaber strike. What does that mean exactly? Does that mean it can take several hits before breaking? Is it made of a special material, or what?

My character's history has him trained as an Imperial Royal Guard, which means his preferred weapon of choice would be a forcepike. Given that they have to defend against all threats, and I assume FS and Jedi too (the article DOES say that the forcepike was used in hunting down Jedi), then they have to have a weapon that will at least withstand the basic weapon of a Jedi.

So...with an Imperial Guard issued forcepike...what's the deal and what should I roleplay?

They are made of phrik and are resistant to lightsabers in all cases.

Can't be cut by a saber, but you'll need to do a dev thread for the phrik.
Or purchase it from someone who has access to it. I do believe the Mandalorians have a mining operation for the material. Though you'd have to check in with them.

[member="Athrun Zala"], As they said above, somehow acquire the materials. OR if your character was already made in the past and you are a transfer, then you can prove by providing threads that you have used it in the past.

It isn't a character transfer. And I can't make the forcepike cause I'm not an armor smith. I'm assuming it would be a limited mass-produced forcepike issued to an Imperial Guardsman upon graduating and serving on missions, so it's not like I'd be getting anyone special to make it either. (Character isn't one anymore, but I'm assuming he kept all his weapons cause he "left".)

For the same reason, I find purchasing one a little odd, unless of course I lost the original forcepike for some reason and had to go buy another...and even then it would be before my current RP thread. Just want to know though before I actually use it in one of those two RPs. :/

Dev thread to collect the phrik, then do a submission for the weapon

Phrik (( Objective : Perform a mining operation, a raid, an excavation, or steal to obtain phrikite ore from any of the following planets: Gromas 16, Alderaan, Arkania, Rendili, Bastion, Wayland, Roche Asteroids, Seltos, Demonsgate, Val'hala –OR—suffer a devastating defeat at the hands of a Non-Force User. ))

[member="Athrun Zala"], I'll happily help with the thread and just say you shipped the phrik off to someone who could make the pike.

All mandatory jokes appreciated. ;) I love me my Doctor jokes.

So I should do a thread both to get the phrik ore (which I'll be doing with Tsolan) and then do an RP post or two detailing an NPC smither making one for me?

Just gonna say this: if it's a canon item and you're using it "stock" from canon and it's within reason for you to have it (ie. Sith lord so-and-so who's never even heard of a Mando wearing Beskar'gam), you don't need to do the restricted materials Dev thread. The Dev threads only come into play when submitting an item with the material.

Personally, I use a stock electrostaff that is canonically made of phrik. My mandalorian also uses beskar armor as he's a Mando. No submissions for either one.

Honestly, it's canon, a dev thread won't be asked (speaking from experience) unless you're spawning loads out of thin air or have no legitimate reason to have one. But if the shoe fits, wear it.
In this case, you're pretty much SoL without the resistance since it's literally just a long pole, so it's not an advantage in the slightest.

PS: Canon things don't need to be submitted to the Factory. In fact, they're likely to be denied simply on the basis that they already exist. In canon. lol.
