Dominion Fortunate Son | Sith Order Dominion of Mijos & Kirtarkin

"Necromancy," I said soaking up the cold sensation of the word, "Is indeed a fancy art. To many fools call themselves artists of the dead and broken toys, and that is what they are, fools. Even the Sith practitioners of necromancy barley understand the concept, most believing that because they can make a corpse twitch, they are experts. They are most definitely not. And the Nightsisters of Dathomir, where necromancy may have begun years before discovery by the Sith, only know what is handed down from one generation to the next. To be a master guru in the artistic world of the dead, one must study all facets from every angle. But I'm sure you know that? Of course, unlike those that freely give up their names, we Nightsisters do not freely give up our knowledge," I concluded before standing up.

"Let us haunt the forest and watch these young Sith favor themselves with honor and prestige and whatever this event is meant to incur into their little beating hearts. Along the way, you can educate me further on your knowledge of necromancy, and perhaps we might find something useful out there for you to demonstrate your prowess, Darth Nexion"

Not caring whether he accompanied me or not, I recalled my staff to my hand, marching toward the tree lines and beyond. Arcie had been feverishly sending me images through our connection, and I was eager to be an eyewitness to a murdered Sith Apprentice; or perhaps stir the cauldron. Regardless of either outcome, I needed to stretch my legs and find something to sink my teeth into.

Eira could tell that Aerik was in a similar boat to herself, eager to prove himself far more capable than the initial placement he had. It was how Eira viewed it, she knew she could rise to first cohort when she could get a chance to prove how strong she truly was. Thankful for the fact that Aerik agreed to partner with her, Eira gave a nod of her head. Feeling him grip her forearm and shook. It was unconventional but Eira assumed it was likely some traditional version of a handshake from wherever Aerik is from.

"Sounds good to me." The plan to discuss away from prying eyes and ears made sense to Eira.

She walked over and collected their puck, looking around as she assessed who might be considered a biggest threat to them directly. Many would be seeking the top cohorts and their pucks. However, they were the obvious targets in Eira's mind and it would be impossible to catch them without risking their own puck. Eira had an idea but she wanted to hear out what Aerik had to say as well.

They were working in a team and Eira might be ranked slightly higher, but she believed that this would work if they were equals and her not making demands as a leader. Heading into the forest, Eira gathered her long dark hair and tied it behind her to ensure that it would not get in her eyes.

"What ideas do you have Aerik?" Eira asked, wanting to hear what he had to suggest before she offered her own ideas.

Nexion smirked, finishing the last of his wine before placing it and the bottle back in his bag. This woman truly was cold, and she most definitely felt ruthless. He rose from his spot and followed after her. Now, normally after seeing (much less talking to) someone like 'Lady Death', one would think to stay a distance behind her, given the presence she gave off. Well, Nexion was anything but normal. When he caught up to her, he didn't remain behind her, rather he walked alongside her. A distance was there, yes, but he walked side-by-side with her with a smile on his face.

"I agree wholeheartedly. Besides, even if Nightsisters gave away their secrets, I wouldn't want them. Experimenting, practising, learning. All of that which relates to progressing in Necromancy I will discover for myself. That way, no-one can question whether my power is my own, because everything I have, I trained and studied to achieve myself."

He looked towards 'Lady Death' and offered a wide smirk.

"If you wish to test my skill with Necromancy, 'Lady Death', I'd be more than happy to oblige. Any excuse to refine my abilities is always a welcome one. Though, maybe after I demonstrate my skill, one day you may grant me the honour of seeing yours."

Aerik was curious that Eira was asking what his ideas were so readily. Apparently he must have impressed her during the philosophy discussions and debates. This was not theory though. They were to be left in the middle of a swamp filled forest like jungle to survive and hunt.

A smirk pulled at Aerik’s lips at the thought. His recent transformation during the last full moon had awoken something in him which his usual stoicism could not contain. There was a wolf and demon resident within. His father had prepared him for the notion that his life would always be one of duality and an odd unity, but none of them had been prepared for what he would actually become.

His smile faded, remember what Irina Jesart Irina Jesart had told him the night they met. He needed to keep his secrets. If Eira did not know about his abilities, he needed to keep them close to his chest. Aerik was not in the fifth cohort because he was weak, but because he was a pawn in someone else’s game. He did not like the idea, but he was also too young to know the depths of the machinations he had been thrust into.

“We hide. The forest is my playground, and we use our surroundings to create an advantage. Even if pucks are potentially traceable, no one can steal it if they can’t get to it.”

The pup did not wait for the girl to agree before heading into the thick foliage. It was dark and the shadows covered them, mostly. They needed to deal with things like scent and camouflage, but there was something more important they needed to deal with first.

“We need to find shelter for now, then adapt to our surroundings. Once we get a lay of the swamp…”

Aerik smiled.

“...we hunt.”

Aerik mentioned that their environment was something he found to be suited for his skills, a bold statement from him but one that Eira decided to indulge without argument. She had not seen his skills outside of their discussion and therefore could not assess his abilities in differing environments. Playing into their strengths would be something that would afford them power to take more pucks.

"Shelter is one option but remember, our objective is not to outlast everyone here. Get as many points as we can and reach the pick up site." Eira cautioned, lasting too long increased the chances of being caught off guard. "My strategy is simple, our mission is another fifth cohort puck, something we can handle quick and easily as long as we work as a team. We take that, pick off some of the fools chasing down the first cohort puck. Till we have a number high enough to rise."

Stepping into the foliage, Eira's idea was to focus on those in the fifth and fourth cohort. Targets that many would overlook since they were lower in value. However, she knew all they needed to do was fall into sync with one another on a plan and go from there. This was an exam on working as a team and the chance to rise was too important for where they were. At least it was in Eira's mind.

Rivan was quiet, and Irina couldn't help but feel like she was being looked at through a microscope as he tried to figure out who and what he was working with. It didn't make her particularly uncomfortable, growing up in a court of nobles you get used to being studied and analysed for signs of weakness. Truth be told she didn;t blame him, she had singled him out based on rumours and hearsay and she had been under the radar enough to be a nobody.

The terrain was growing more and more difficult as they progressed, solid ground was getting fewer and further between. His question caught her off guard, her foot slipping from the rock she was on and sinking into the mud up to her ankle. Twisting her foot, she gave it a sharp tug to free herself quickly before the mud could draw her deeper.

"I grew up in the desert on Eliad." she answered after a beat, reassessing her path and pushing forward. "I was the heir to the house Jesart, last of my line…blah blah blah." she shook her head. "Unless you're born a boy, none of that really matters." There was an underlying bitterness in her tone, an anger that swelled in her chest. She let it simmer there quietly, not bothering to push it down.

She cast a glance over her shoulder at him. "What about you?"

"A true cousin matters more than a truer daughter?", he said with a bit of jest in his tone.
"I'm sorry to hear about that - but you should probably just use the Academy to force your claim. Can't be that hard."
Of course he was being purposefully obtuse. The reality of political intrigue did not escape Soldane, he just didn't want it to be that obvious he was trained in at least some machinations. The Academy was not the end all be all of position in the Empire, but it mattered a lot - and that was all that mattered for the sake of this conversation. When her question was flipped back to him, he was not taken by surprise - it was common for people to flip easy questions back onto the asker, if not uninspired. But who was he to call her uninspired when he asked something so mundane as where she came from?
"Orphaned. Me and my Sister, Artemis.", he said nonchalantly. It was an easy lie, easy to prove with their hard to track origins. Still, he hoped she wouldn't try and dive any deeper than she allowed - they had trained their stories to be alike, but it was the details ad libbed that could sink their boat. He idled his thoughts for a moment to consider how Lunaria Talon Lunaria Talon was doing out there, somewhere deeper in the swamp.
As the terrain got worse, and they pushed to raise their elevation away from the treachorous mud beneath, they could hear the call of lizards in the distance. Their deep clicking echoed through the silence of a storm, and it only warned Soldane that there were yet bigger things in this swamp they had yet to see - but something felt... off.
He could hear something else. Quietly, he tugged on Irina Jesart Irina Jesart 's sleeve, perching himself carefully on a branch as he listened. For a brief moment, it seemed like nothing was amiss - only the sound of animals calling to one another intermixed with rain, but after another moment... they could hear it. Sense it.
The Force was being used, and someone was moving towards them.

The students had been given a few hours to spread themselves deep into the confines of the swamp. Some had already begun to hunt one another, and others had even become successful. Many of the Fifth pairs had already lost their pucks to their superiors, but some of the Thirds were tenuously close to losing their own to the lower ranks. It was the upper echelons that had managed to maintain themselves thus far.
But that was a continuity that could not be kept any longer.
Each of the various teams would sense it before they would hear it, see it, or feel it. People were in the swamp - hunting, and using the Force to drive themselves to find whoever it was they needed. A few students would go silent, their pucks falling into the muck to be forever lost in the millenia of mud that would overtake them. Others could sense what was coming, and began to hide.
For the rest - they would have to make a plan fast. As twilight began to take over the horizon, and the sky turned a mixture of purple and orange, they would see the tattered robes and odd armor of the hunters. Those who were seen would find a miasma of colors from their lightsabers - but it was clear by their coloration, they were not Sith. Blue blades dominated the darkness, and each student would know they were hunted by Jedi.
How they had found them, how they had tracked them, was not yet known - but the first report came through to the Academy Proctors, and in the same moment teams were sent out to find the children and ensure their safety. If not for their lives, for the political implications it would have if the Academy lost so many students to a Jedi incursion of all things.
Yet the students had gained hours on them, and there was no way fighters or transports could track them beneath the foliage. The canopy and vegetation was too thick - so Sith Knights and even some Lords began to trek into the darkness to find their pupils. All the students had to do until then was survive...

"Death Has But One Terror, That It Has No Tomorrow"

I fought back the notion to laugh at the mere thought of not accepting knowledge from any source, it was the Sith's way to crave knowledge, to take it by any means justifiable. It was well documented there was a schism between the Sith and the Dathomirian Witches, though individuals in the past have worked together, and even a few Nightsisters landed among the counted Sith; and some of those rose to powers and titles befitting that of Sith Lord. As unfathomable it was to accept Darth Nexion's words as a Nightsister, it was as Sith that I could entertain his line of thought.

"Without strapping you down and dissecting you, Darth Nexion, I already ascertain you are constructed by confidence," I spoke whilst we moved through the forest, "very befitting of a Sith, and without removing tiny fragments of that gelatin mass inhabiting your skull I also deduce you seek to unravel all the mysteries of the galaxy by yourself. I must admit, I'm one-quarter impressed." I began to feel an uneasiness coming from Archie, he was desperately trying to get my attention, perhaps he too was unlocking his own mystery, but sadly he would need to wait.

"I believe demonstrations would be...," I began before abruptly cutting my words short. Even before the connection between me and my feathered familiar locked fully together, I felt the disturbance in the Force. I turned to Darth Nexion, "You feel it too?" Suddenly without a warning from Archie, his visons became my visions, it was through his eyes I saw the robed individuals wielding ignited sabers and powered down hilts stalking through the forest, undoubtedly hunting the Sith students, though the exact number could not be accurately counted. Placing my staff against the nearby tree, I unhinged my two hilts from their dangling nest snarling viciously as I did. Wasting no glance to my forest companion, I spat the one word that was truly evil to the Sith, "Jedi!"

Irirna snorted. "That was the intention, to complete my training return home, enforce my claim and use my power to restore my family name to its former glory." She couldn't keep the bitterness from her tone the mask she'd spent the last week refining, burying her greif deep beneath seemingly coming apart.

"On Eliad, if there is no male heir when the Lord dies, then the assets are dissolved and the fortune split among the other houses of the court. Any daughters remaining if they are not already betrothed, become wards of the King until they can be found suitable husbands."

She paused. "My father died a little over a week ago, so…" she shrugged "Maybe I'll just go home and kill them all. Or maybe I won't go home at all. Either way, the academy is all I have left."

Irina didn't press the matter of Rivan's own history. Partially because his answer was so short that it didn't leave much opening for further questioning and partially because the terrain forced them into the branches of the trees, somewhere inititally she did not wanted to be.

All things considered it didn't take her long to find her balance among the branches, it was certainly easier than finding a path through the thick mud below but she was not comfortable with the elevation, even less so when Rivan tugged on her sleev forcing her to stop and listen.

She lowered herself to perch on the branch, an unsettling feeling creeping up her spine. There were no acolytes that had the power that she could feel rippling through the force and it lacked the familiarity of the darkside she was so used to. Her hand snapped to Rivan's arm as she saw it, the soft blue glow and heard the distant hum of a lightsaber.

"The feth are Jedi doing here?" she hissed. She scanned their surroundings, there was no where to hide, they had no weapons on them but those they had learnt in the force. Irirna pointed up indicating they should climb higher, stay out of its way until they knew waht they were dealing with.

Nexion laughed as 'Lady Death' deconstructed him in her mind. What she said wasn't wrong, and that made things all the more interesting. When he heard he had even slightly impressed her in her eyes, he laughed even more.

"Oh, have I? Well, that truly is an accomplishment considering you seem to be rarely impressed even to the mildest degree. Do you look down on others so often that your neck is in pain at even the slightest of raises?"

As he was talking, he didn't notice the woman beside him seemingly move her focus onto something far away. But then, he felt it himself. His face momentarily want to surprise before he he gained a smirk. When asked, he responded.

"Of course I feel it. In a place where there are so many of us, it would extremely difficult to not notice them."

Nexion raised his mask over his face, and placed his hood over his head before reaching down to his belt and removing one of his two hilts.

"If Jedi are here, this may yet be more fun then I thought. Should we kill them all, or should we keep some alive? Frankly, I don't care which, but its good to ask before I get ridiculed later."

When he spoke, it was evident he had kept his usual smile on his face based upon the enthusiastic tone coming from him.

"Death Has But One Terror, That It Has No Tomorrow"

"Kill all that we must, preserve some if we can," I spat turning my attention in the direction back to the woods. The Jedi had the numbers, and in their minds the element of surprise having killed or captured a fair share of the students, but they were mistaken. Up above in the skies I possess my personal reconnaissance drone in the form of Archie, who flew brazenly and unaware by the Jedi his eyes were sending their locations to me via our connection. A small group of Jedi, six in total, had splintered themselves off from another group and were heading toward us, looking for students but would find a chilling surprise in store awaiting them.

"Six are coming from there," I said to my soon-to-be-partner in slaying Jedi, pointing in the direction of the fools. Without waiting, I charged toward the Jedi to cut them off before they opted to split their small group further. As a Sangir, I possess exceptional speed and coursed through the forest to face the Jedi in combat, stopping at a row of down trees when they came into direct sight. The Jedi looked about, trying to sense the students through the Force, the scent they caught was mine, an elevated signature of Dark Side power in the Force. Collectively they looked upon me, frozen in place by the monster that stood waiting for them.

In unison, they activated their weapons; after coming to the realization, they held the numbers game, and I responded in kind but instead activated the power within my
ring unleashing the trio of wraiths from within. My Hunger grew from the ring's activation spell, and it was time to feed. The wraiths attacked the Jedi, throwing them into disarray, as the Dark Side oozed into those not strong to defend against the darkness. While the wraiths continued to do their job, I singled out a Jedi and struck her from behind, knocking her to the ground, and plunged my fangs quickly and deeply into the pulsing vein on her neck, feeling the anima flow into me whilst her life crept away.

My mouth and lower job painted crimson, and my fangs extended and dripping with blood, I stood up to take in the situation. My wraiths were gone, but two more Jedi lay lifeless on the forest floor. The horrors on the survivor's faces spoke volumes to the abomination I had become. From behind, I knew Darth Nexion was drawing close, and the threesome now stood between not defenseless students, but two Sith Lords. Using the Force, I activated my two hilts, and in tandem the darkened silver blades with swirling plumes of dark mist inside emerged, as did the abilities from the infused crystals. And I thought today was going to be boring.

Aerik refused to be exposed. It was that simple. Eira seemed to only listen to half of what he suggested, which was less than ideal. They could not be an effective team if she was going to ask for input and immediately dismiss it because she did not like the first half of what he said. He sighed internally, and did his best to keep it to himself. Since gaining the ability to change, Aerik found it difficult to remain stoic.

“If you think it will be easy enough to pick up the puck…”

He shrugged. If they were not going to gain shelter in a place which would help them protect their own puck, they would need to come up with another plan centered around that. Aerik supposed he did not need to press the issue as long as they did not lose their own puck.

“So that is half the issue… the other part is not losing ours. Do you have a plan for that?”

Aerik had an idea, but he was weighing out the options. It would require letting Eira see what he was exactly, and the pup was not sure if he trusted her well enough. They did not know each other outside of the classes they took together even though they were in the same cohort. The reddish blonde had been too busy exploring the palace, leaving when he shouldn’t have been, or getting to know those in higher levels. Most of the students in his own cohort could not be considered friends, and maybe that had been his mistake.

He still wanted to get to know the Echani Twins, but they seemed to want to keep their distance. Aerik needed to make an effort with Eira he supposed.

The pup was about to speak when he sensed something that did not belong. It was blindingly obvious. Jedi, it had to be. He had never felt the light side of the force, but it was so opposite as to what he was used to that it could not be anything else. What were light siders doing on the planet? Furthermore did his partner sense them.

His eyes shifted to Eira.

“Do you sense that?”

Rivan wanted to give her a retort, have some clever comment about 'killing so many houses it all gets redistributed back to you', but his skin ran cold and goose flesh pricked his arms. The air was hot and humid, it clung to the body through the clothes, even through their high tech uniforms - but there was never anything so chilling as the distant sensation of a Jedi hunting on a world they never should have been able to find. Was this part of the test? Did the Sith leak information just to test their acolytes?

The thought did not sit will in his suddenly turning stomach. He knew the Sith could be cruel, insane and unpredictable at times, but this seemed far worse than he could ever thought they were capable of. He whispered to Irina Jesart Irina Jesart in a dangerously quiet whisper;
"I think they're here to kill us.", he said. His voice did not quiver, but there was a sickening flat dread even in that.
"Their senses reach farther than ours. They might already know we're here.", he said with a glance towards her.
"But we can't outrun them. Can you mask your presence? Expand it?"
He hoped desperately she could do one or the other. They needed a distraction, and there was no gurantee running or hiding was going to help them - so he came up with a plan. He just needed her to trust him.

A moment ago...
The smuggler's freighter shook and rattled as the ship breached orbit, but it held together like they were promised it would. It was being piloted by an Outlaw running from the Alliance - caught smuggling in illegal Sith Artifacts to the Core. In time, he would earn his fate, as the Force has marked him in Death's Eye. Soon, it will whisper his name.
But today, he has been given glorious purpose; to guide his Light Crusade against the treasonous, heretical sith-spawn they called students. The Sith thought themselves unique in a galaxy guided by the impartial hand of balance, and they bred like vermin. To cull them when they are young is no different in the eye's of the Light.
If the Force had not intended for them to die, it would not have led Jean de Brichare to their doorstep. Now he stood on the precipice of violent absolution. Him and his men, Jedi some but followers of the Light all, stood with him now in trepedation. The hour grew near, the bells chimed through the Force to herald their victory, and he could see the children through the Force even here.
The ship came to a hover above the thick canopy, and the landing door opened. One man would stay behind to ensure the ship returned - but the rest took a step off into the open air and fell into the Canopys below...

"Perfect. All I needed to hear."

Nexion muttered as 'Lady Death' burst towards the Jedi, momentarily leaving him behind. Not a second after, however, Nexion shot forth himself, following after his partner-in-slaying. He jumped up to land on a thick tree branch to gain a better view and by the time he had reached the group of six, two were on the floor, one was being fed on by his fellow Sith, and the other three were huddled together, horrified by what they were witnessing.

"Well, you're more intriguing then I thought, 'Lady Death'. Truly a sight to behold."

He turned his attention to the three remaining Jedi, jumping down from the tree and igniting his blade, the crimson light illuminating his face. He approached the trio, raising his left hand as he did. From his hand, green smoke left, crawling along the ground before covering and entering the two dead Jedi's bodies. Their bodies raised themselves from the ground before re-igniting the blades, but pointing them at the living Jedi.

Observing the Jedi trio, he pointed one out as being a padawan. Smirking under his mask, he pulled the padawan to him, skewering them with his blade, tearing off their braid, then tossing them aside. The green smoke from his hand trailed to the padawan, raising their body in the same way the other two Jedi had been.

"Not quite as... beautiful, as your display, 'Lady Death', I acknowledge. But, does that suffice as a demonstration to my abilities in our shared practice, or do you require something else?"

Despite the situation, his voice kept a light tone, almost as if the situation was just a game to him. Or, perhaps, it was that the Jedi in front of him were so insignificant, he didn't even feel like trying to make an effort.

It was not that Eira was dismissing his idea, she was just mentioning her idea as another potential avenue. There was credit to his plan in being protective with the puck, those she felt reluctant to leave it out of her sight. "I was not dismissing your idea to store the puck away. Even understanding our surroundings is practical. I was just sharing my idea, though we could combine them." Eira mentioned as she continued to help Aerik in gathering fauna of their surroundings to create a defensible point.

"I am unsure, we need to ensure we have it by the end. And carrying it is just inviting the puck to be stolen. But also leaving it buried... The issue there is that someone could steal it while we are hunting for more..." Eira thought aloud, trying to figure out what would be the best option for them, this was something she would always pride herself on. However, there was a lot on the line, too much at risk for her to be bolder or reckless with how they did things. She would not be the reason they failed their one chance to grow in ranks.

At least their current way.

While she was thinking, something sent a shiver down her spine. A sensation of something burning bright in a dark abyss. Drawing her attention as she looked in the directions of where she sensed the Light Side of the Force. "Jedi..." She answered Aerik, sensing it just as much as he did. Storing the puck on her person and pulling out the daggers she had. "They are hunting us... This is probably part of the test, a third thing to contend with. Lets show them they are hunting the wrong acolytes."

Eira grinned to Aerik, eager to shed some blood tonight.
