/OOC: Whoops, didn't remember I had so few posts left. But whatever.

The girl quickly took a step back after having shot the man while hoping she'd hit him. She couldn't tell -- at the moment's confusion and rush, she didn't hear anything at all, nor did she notice anything going around her. But as soon as she was at a safe distance from the man, she did notice something odd. There was no way she could have move so far away from the man; she could tell the man was a little bit too far away from him.

And only then did she take a look around. There was a figure in the distance behind the man who'd attacked her. And even though her Force Sense abilities were definitely not the best, she could tell the woman radiated a light side aura, so that must have meant good.

Lilin took a deep breath and decided it was not the best to stand still -- she had to fight and give her best at showing the man who he'd come to deal with. Not that the girl was the best fighter in existence or anything.

"I am not a Jedi!" she said with a loud, strict voice, while taking a leap forward and slashing her lightsaber at the man's left shoulder at the same time.

"I am not a Jedi!"

Nubica recognised that voice. And that sentiment. She grinned widely and shouted, "Lilin, it's me...Nubica." You could be forgiven for not realising they were about to fight for their lives, it as more like an old school reunion. "Anyway, speak properly later."

And then she turned her attention to the man. "She may not be a Jedi, but I am - not that it matters. She'll kick your butt from here to Onderon, trust me."

With one either side of him, they presented a choice. Whichever one he went for he'd have to turn his back on the other. He was not in a good place at all. So Nubica readied herself. She would keep it simple regardless and with the Force to use, there was no doubt they'd overwhelm him between them.

Her grin just got wider. This was fun.

The man could step away from getting hit at the shoulder, that meant his eyes were not as pathetic as the eyes were which belonged to a Sith she'd fought and that he could manage to get over the temporary blindness quite fast. That was OK, because she had the other person, the figure behind the man, whose help she could rely on and ... oh goodness, that was Nubica!

"Hey Nubica! Let's talk later, yeah!" she managed to shout to the other side, ad the girl. She was the Jedi she'd met on her visit to Ossus.

The man didn't seem to know which side to look at. He did understand he was in the worst location he could have been and that no matter what he would have done, he would have had to turn his back to one of them. After a quick yet considerably careful gaze at the man, Lilin could tell he was a simple criminal and all he had was his weapon -- a blaster.

Which, as everybody knew a Jedi or a lightsider likewise would be able to stand against.

That criminal, however, did decide to turn her back to Lilin, most likely because Nubica had taunted him and that had taken all his attention to her. It was a great moment to attack the man, so she had to think of the best Force power he knew. And she would have to do that really fast. Telekinesis was the best idea.

Hoping that the man would keep his attention on the Jedi for a little bit longer than a second, she lifted her hand forward and tried to focus the energy around their enemy's hand to press his fingers and palm so that he would no longer be able to hold the blaster in his hand. The blaster did seem to move, although the girl's skills in the Force were not as great as she'd thought.

Nubica offered a wave of the hand to acknowledge Lilin. As she did so, the man clearly decided that Nubica was the one to attract his attention. Take out the weaker opponent first perhaps? She cared little. They had a job to do.

The man levelled the blaster at her and seemed to be struggling with it. His hand was waving everywhere and she was transfixed by his aim. Finally he managed to let loose a shot which hit the ground two feet in front of Nubica.

Which was good.

And it threw up tens of tiny shards of concrete shrapnel that embedded itself in Nubica's shins.

Which was less good.

The pain was intense and affected her concentration. She was still a raw Padawan and her control of the Force was lacking. So she decided to keep it simple and rely on what she knew best. And she therefore instinctively Force Pushed him, hoping to knock him on his derrière and allowing Lilin the chance to attack him from behind (no pun intended).

Lilin tried her best to make the man lose all control over the weapon, although she had not expected that he would be able to shoot the weapon. She didn't notice that the Jedi got hit, there was no time to focus on that. Perhaps that's made her so unlike the Jedi -- a member of the Order would notice a friend in need, whereas she did not.

Her eyes remained on the hand holding the blaster. She tightened the Force around him, trying to force the ripples to make the man drop his weapon. She would wrap it around her finger, try to make the limb lose all control over the blaster.

And then the weapon did drop on the ground.

The enemy seemed to lose control over his body as well; he landed on his bottom not too gracefully, meaning there must have been some Force usage included. Perhaps Nubica had done something?

And even though she did not exchange a word with the Jedi girl, she seemed to quite understand what she was doing. Perhaps it was the mutual understanding of allies which made people know what the other was doing in battle? She had no idea if such a thing existed but the thought of that was nice.

She pulled her arm back and tried to come up with what to do next. She could go on and make the man regret ever attacking them. But that would have not been the lightsider way. So instead, she took her lightsaber and ran to the man as fast as she could. He didn't seem to be able to stand up, which was nice.

"Do you know that you just attacked a member of the Galactic Republic and a Jedi of the Jedi Order?" she asked. "And do you know what consequences such an action will have?"

"Senator... Trozky." The Prime Minister nodded, repeating the title as requested. Perhaps it did not suit her more liberal views to realize that he had more of an inherited right to the awaiting Senate seat than an elected privilege, but it was the way of the Brentaal people and right now was not a good time to suggest political revolution when both parties simply needed each other. Sadly, even the socially progressive Geneviève would be forced to admit that allowing an authoritarian government to abide within the Republic was better than being overwhelmed by the Sith fascists knocking on the door. There were prices to be paid for the sake of victory, and Gen would have to leave the job of political reform to the next leader--perhaps a more peacetime-oriented politician than the warhawk Lasedri.

The faintest of reaches at the edges of her lips indicated an involuntary attempt to smile. It probably would have grown to a true smile had Gen's body no lack in practice. Alas, she was only just recently learning to release her positive emotions. Neighbors. "I would expect no less, comrade." Maybe these negotiations would be short.

She took her seat at the grand table after the political troupe was ushered into the meeting room, taking a seat as close in proximity to Trozky as could be obtained. Ah, what good were government officials if they could not eat lunch?

Nubica kept her focus on the man and away from the pain. He dropped the weapon, no doubt due to Lilin’s intervention and she watched in awe as her friend charged at the prone man – brandishing her saber.

It was truly impressive and if Nubica was on the wrong side of the law, she’d be intimidated. It was a wonder the man didn’t wet himself!

And she was transfixed. What would the consequences be? She stepped forward, slowly but surely, doing her best to cover her limp. Her hands were outstretched, ready to perform a Force Ability should the man be foolish enough to try to fight on. But she kept out of arm’s reach – just in case. She was brave, but she wasn’t foolhardy.

The man seemed to be afraid of the two girls now. He must have been a huge coward; having come there with one weapon and with practically no armor, he must have not thought somebody like these two could be considerable enemies for him. He'd been a little bit full of himself, yet now he seemed to be revealing who he truly was.

His eyes were full of fear and would Lilin have been a Sith, she wouldn't have shown no mercy. But the thing was, she was no Sith, nor was she a darksider. And even though she would have wanted to hurt the man, she didn't.

Instead, she dropped her weapon, but didn't lower her eyes or change his grimace. She tried to make the man fear what was coming and not give him a chance to leave.

"Nubica, can Jedi arrest those who commit crimes against the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic?" she asked.

Bubbly it was! So with a fluke of champagne and all the pomp and circumstance the Hapan woman would bleed out as if it was her lifesblood, The Senator of Hapes and Duch'a strode into the little Senator gathering with a winning smile.

Well, as much as a fake one could be.

See they all had their roles, la! All had their parts to play. Oh, she knew better than to believe that a single senator was not out for their own gain. They all were, one way or another. Each wanting to pursue their own Gamorrean-barrel projects. It was just a matter of who was better at hiding at it.

Hapan court was always a matter of intrigue, and Persephone had her goals set high! For the now, that involved getting her company situated in the trade center of Brentaal. She simply had to ensure that went through; this would settle it.

So, while the chatter would flow - as she was enjoying observing to really be part of any stimulating conversation - her aquamarine eyes would drive across the area.

Ah, so there was the Prime Minister. How sweet. Along with her other fellow Republican puppet masters -- quaint little petname!- and of course, Senator [member="Ordon Trozky"].

From behind the fluke, Persephone would perk a brow.

He was a well made man. Pity he was trying to step out of his rightful place.

Arceneau Trade and Browncoat Industries

There was opportunity in Brentaal IV. Opportunity Danger was itching to expand. Brentaal IV was a terrestrial world with a temperate but arid climate and two moons, Brentaal occupied one of the most valuable locations in the galaxy—the intersection of the Perlemian and the Hydian Way, two of the galaxy's major hyperlanes. It was the perfect location for Arceneau Trade Company to place their new Republic Territory Headquarters.

First things first. Talks with Bengal Shipbuilders would produce the bridge to purchase a few of the XQ2 Platforms that orbited Brentaal IV. The XQ2 had a larger central structure for greater capacity. It also had another hangar bay on the ventral side and a docking platform on top in addition to the three radial hangar/platform structures included on the XQ1 Platform.

The XQ2 Platform was a basic space station designed to act as a waypoint for travelers visiting highly populated planets. Designed for deployment just at the edge of the atmosphere of planets with heavy space traffic, the XQ2 Platform helped alleviate take off and landing traffic jams by regulating the flow of ships into and out of a star system.

The XQ2 had relatively small crews and very few permanent residents; most of the people aboard a platform were there only temporarily. Some interstellar passenger lines used XQ2 Platforms as staging areas for their journeys, allowing passengers to take shuttles up to the platform before boarding larger liners that could not enter a planet's atmosphere with ease. An XQ2 Platform was quite modular and could be adapted to suit passengers as well as large amounts of cargo.

Danger was looking to use some of these old XQ2 Platforms and re-purpose them. The plan was to buy about four out of the dozens that floated around Brentaal IV and expand them to be on par with the largest Trade Stations under Arceneau Trade. Investing not only in the economy of Brentaal, but in salvaging relics of the past.

An appointment with the Representative of Bengal Shipbuilders would hopefully result in their acquisition, and perhaps even a contract for a modernized version of the XQ2 platform.

Nubica watched as Lilin seemed to have the matter clearly in hand. She was quietly impressed – and in a bit of pain too.

But Lilin’s question floored her. It was the sort of thing a teacher on Ossus would ask. On the plus side, even if she got the answer wrong, who would know? But by the same token, she was aware of the Jedi’s teachings on honouring the Order. She was officially representing the Council here and now and her behaviour was seen as representative of the whole Order.

“I am sworn to uphold peace throughout the galaxy. And I protect justice within the Republic. So if we were on Republic planet then yes, I could arrest him. But this isn’t a Republic planet.”

The man seemed to perk up at this news.

“Except…”

His shoulders drooped again.

“I am bound to honour the law. He has committed a crime under local laws, so I am within my rights to apprehend him and take him to a local police station. So are you Lilin. It’s a kind of citizen’s arrest. Jedi are never the judges in these matters. We simply hand him over and share the evidence we have before leaving him in the hands of the judiciary system. It’s the same on a Republic world really.”

She looked the man in the eyes now. “So, come with us now and the charges are what they are. Resist arrest and we can add that to the sheet – or worse, we may be obliged to harm you in self-defence.”

She gave Lilin a wink. “Good job by the way.”

He felt intent before the hissing sound of the blaster reached his ear. He threw his saber down and up reflecting the shot back to the thug who had fired it. It missed the man but at least Mantic was unharmed. The second thug, a huge gamorean swinging a large vibro axe came roaring toward him from his left. Mantic opened his left hand and pressed forth an invisible force wave at the creature. Size should not matter but Mantic still suffered from his mind being stuck on physical limitations and rules. The Gamorean was not thrown far back. But he did halt his charge and looked down with a surprised look.

then he roared and swung his axe toward Mantic who bent backwards in an unnatuiral bend of his knees while still standing. the axe passed above him and Mantic used the momentum to sweep his saber toward the gamorean. It penetrated the green beast in the torso.
He had to roll away from the collapsing corpse as the other thug cursed and fired anothwer spray of shots that Mantic maanged to parry and then he turned to run.

Panting Mantic realised he had won. In the corner, close to the swoop bikes stood a couple of crates. He grabbed his com.

"This is Padawan Dorn at the corner of skybar and Trius complexity street. Lover level three. I got a pick up waiting here. I belive it belongs to Captain Dessarian and his crew. the thieves are gone and I will be pursuing their leader." he instructed the republic salvage teams on stand by.

then he attached his saber to his belt and brought his cloak up. He had to concentrate if he would be able to find that man in this messy part of town.

Mantic sighed.

... for the sake of sanity...

He bent his knees and focused slightly before he made the six meter high leap up into the air, grabbing hold of the sash of the window pulling himself up the last bit using his own muscles.
He rolled in finishng on a standing position dusting himself off. The criminals had been very fast and their superior street wise was obvious. Ha had almost lost them in the maze like labyrinth offered in the back streets of the lower levels.
If it had not been for his connection with the force they would have escaped. But, that was not the case.

Looking up at the men pointing their guns at him he bit his lower lip. How was he going to make this end peacefully?

"Gentlemen, please. there is no need for resistance. I am placing you under arrest and that is very much possible without any bloodshe..."

His lightsaber was lit the moment the first shot was fired. He used a back hand to punch the shot back at the thug. He had aimed for his tigh but instead it hit the floor between his feet.
Even better Mantic thought as his eyes darted between the others.

The Rodian dropped his tiny jaw and then dropped his blaster. With the lightsaber humming in front of him Mantic did remind the thugs what they were up against. One by one they dropped their weapons and raised their hands to the ceiling in the small and rather dirty apartment.

"Excellent, now lets just sit tight for a while and wait for the police to arrive shall we?"

About an hour later Mantic had given his statements and handed over the thugs to the local police. While they were not used to the Jedi assisting them this was at least a little something to help the common man realize what the republic stood for.

Mantic left the law enforcers to their dealings and started to wander further. He was wondering how things were going on the surface and the meeting with the Republics officials and the local government. After all, it was there that the outcome of this would be decided. He recalled that one of the senators taking part in the negotiations was [member="Cecily de Demici"] - he hoped that she was fully recovered now. It felt like a long time ago when the assassination attempt upon her life had happened. She was probably not aware of his involvement in saving her life and it did not matter. But that event had shaped Mantic more then the senator probably realized. He was now a dedicated jedi padawan determined to serve as a protector and peace keeper more then anything. It had given him clear direction within the jedi order. And for that he was grateful. although she probably did not know that either.

But until further notice he would remain down here and do what he could to help the locals and show them that law and order would be brought with an union with the republic.

Post 3/20

Roll, sweep, kick, block... Jump, kick mid air - the first one down. Two to go.

There was so much violence. Mantic knew this and he had gone to great length trying to avoid this. But it seemed that after he had helped arresting one gang and subdued another he had upset something in the underworld. He was ambushed and not by regualr robbers. No these men came of as hired assassins, or perhaps hitmen were the appropriate word. They were not top quality but very much more deadler then the previous gangs he had encoutnered.

Block, punch. One to go.

Then the blast hit his chest and he flew backward. Luckily he tumbled behind a nearby parked hover craft. The sniper would not be able to fire again without moving to another position. Mantic coughed, blood dripping from his lower lip. It had been a plan behind this attack. He should have realised. The third assassin jumped past the craft and landed ontop of Mantic with a vibrodagger raised to strike.
Mantic grimaced and pulled his hand upward toward the man, seperating his mind from his physical poor state the force floweed though his arm like rocket through a canon. the assassin was thrown several meters high up in the air, arcing across the street he landed with a crunching thud on the far side of the vehicle again.

Now the sniper....

But first Mantic was forced to take a breather.

Focus.

Inhale

Exhale.

Allow the force to guide you.

Embrace it, let it embrace you.

Slowly his wounds were closing, the pain became a numb sensation and the vital organs were slowing down and concentrating on the healing process.

Not fully restored but still enough to keep moving Mantic opened his eyes.
Valuable moments had passed. He pushed himself to a crouched position and peered around. The street had been emptied after the shot. It meant that he might be able to sense where the sniper was hiding.
He tried to sense a presence but there was still too much movement in the area. Animals most likely.

Alright... he mumbled and took the vibrodagger that had been dropped by his side. He tossed it out on the streeet and just as he had hoped a whizzing sound revealed the shooter. the Dagger bounced of to the right. Mantic rose and looked to the left.

He caught the shimmering gleam of something moving up on a balcony on the fifth floor. He lit his saber and ran fast toward the location. Parrying a third shot and then he had arrived. Positioned underneath the balcony he lifted his arm toward the extended scope of the sniper rifle and pulled. It was torn from the shooters ahdn and hurled down toward the street where it was smashed to bits and pieces.

Mantic waited. IN the distance he could hear the police arrive to the neighborhood.

Good Mantic thought. He would need medical aid sometime soon. While the force kept him going it was not something he could rely on for too long.
He could hear the elevator from inside the building open up and then running steps. Mantic simply turned around placing himself at the front entrance blocking the mans escape.

"Going somewhere special?" he asked. and nodded for the man to give himself up without a fight.

As the police arrived to handle the situation better Mantic gave his testimony and was excused again. It was time for him to leave the lower levels and find a hospital. Or perhaps a republic outpost of sorts to tend to his wounds.

As a light rain started to drip Mantic felt the powers leaving him. the pain returned and he knew he had dont the right thing to seek medical attention. It had become easier and easier to use the force to keep pain and actual wounds at bay. But it was also very dangerous to completely trust the ability for Mantic. He grew in skill by the day and was no longer a fledgling jedi but the very realization was also a new threat.

Pride and understanding his own superiority among most other common men were strong and deceiving tools of the dark side. The greatest enemy of all were those dark thoughts in his own mind. He had to find a way to keep joy in what he had achieved without bringing pride and self-righteousness to it.

The med bay was bustling with activity as new resources had arrived with republic support shipments. Another show of good will from the senate. Mantic placed himself on a bench and waited. the people in here were all sorts of different people. Mostly human, different ages, female and male.
He closed his eyes and immideately felt the flow of light. There was good being done in this place. And the tiny but oh so strong connecting strings in between every living being in here were amazxingly easy to read. Mantic could sense, joy in a father whos child had been helped to regain health, sorrow from a doctor who had failed surgery on a mortaly ill man. Hope from the mother who had sought help for her daughters constant coughing. It all flushed over him and he let it.

"Sir... ?" the nurse voice broke through and Mantic opened his eyes.

"Sir, can we help you?" she continued.
Mantic smiled at her.

"Yes nurse. I believe I am in need of medical care."

The med bay had everything he needed to get fixed. He took the moment to rest not only his body but also his mind. He had to map a strategy from here on. He had to avoid over-confidently rushing forth like that. He should have been able to counter the sniper that had wounded him. But he had been tired. He was yet not strong enough to ignore this.

Perhaps he should try another location for a while.

"Miss Arceneau, it is a pleasure to meet you, " The tall slender woman with blonde hair and bright blue eyes would extend her hand to shake Danger's own. The Queen of Trade gave a genuine smile in gratitude, taking her hand as she coo'd," The pleasure is all mine."

"I am Asyra Maen, here to represent Bengal Shipbuilding and your escort to survey the XQ2 platforms. " Miss Maen, would inform Danger, gesturing for the redhead to follow her.

"We have a shuttle standing by so you may experience the full extend of the skyhooks and the XQ2 capabilities."

Danger gave a nod, "Good, I do enjoy being thorough." A small datapad was extended to Danger, "For your convenience, this will show the schematics, the layout, and how trade procedures work with the Skyhook and the XQ2 platforms."

"Thank you," Danger replied, taking the datapad and letting her fingers swipe across the surface. Hmm..

As they walked the man to the nearest local security offices, it became clear his injuries were worse than they first suspected. Either that or he was feigning them - but he was now struggling to walk.

Not wishing to hand over a maimed suspect, they decided to take him to a nearby hospital for a quick check-up before taking him in for charging.

As they waited outside the room he was being treated in, Nubica noticed a familiar face from Ossus. "Hey, Mantic," she called and scowled when a plethora of doctors and nurses berated her for shouting.

But she did stand and walk over to her fellow Padawan. "Bringing someone in, or getting fixed up yourself?"

Mantic rose and thanked the nurse for her aid. The wound was not going to be very bothersome from here on although he had been instructed to rest. He figured that was the decent thing to say to him, but had no intention of following it. He had suffered greater damage at previous times and despite earlier thoughts about slowing down he had to see this through. Unless something else came up.

"Hey, Mantic," - "Bringing someone in, or getting fixed up yourself?"

He looked up and sensed her presence just about when she had called out to him. He must be numbed by the drugs, he figured. Then he rose and inclined his head politely.

"[member="Nubica Felidae"] - I did not expect to see you around here. Good to meet you. I am here on most selfish business I am afraid." he explained with a slight irony to his voice.

"I let down my guard, became a bit overconfident one might say." he added to cover for seeming unconcerned. He did not really know [member="Nubica Felidae"] but from what he had seen in the temple on Ossus at times. She was a padawan. But that was all he knew.

“As you know, Miss Arceneau, Brentaal occupies one of the most valuable locations in the galaxy,” said the representative, having escorted the Queen of Trade towards the skyhook that would take them up to the platform, “ We have access to two of the galaxy's major hyperlanes, going from the intersection of the Perlemian to the Hydian Way. “

Indeed, it was for this reason Danger was interested in setting up her Headquarters for Arceneau Trade. If she could refurbish the series of XQ2 platforms along with a large massive trade and fuel station, she would have the perfect spot for transporting goods from this sector and beyond.

Danger gave a nod, encouraging the representative to continue.

“We have dozens of these platforms, but only a few skyhooks -- investment in expanding these may result in a greater efficiency.” As it was, the XQ2 Platform was a basic space station designed to act as a waypoint for travelers visiting highly populated planets. It was designed for deployment just at the edge of the atmosphere of planets with heavy space traffic, the XQ2 Platform helped alleviate takeoff and landing traffic jams by regulating the flow of ships into and out of a star system. So being able to direct traffic also meant that it allowed for more control.


A gesture would prompt Danger to please enter the shuttle. Before long, they would exit atmo towards the first of the platforms.

Nubica was almost oblivious to the fact that a nurse was now fussing over the damage to her shins. She allowed her to tend to the wounds but steadfastly refused to move from the corridor she was in as she spoke with her fellow Padawan.

She smiled at his explanation. “There’s a lot of it about it seems.” She nodded back to where Lilin was still keeping watch over the prisoner. “We ran into a bit of bother ourselves.”

“So, where next? It won’t take two of us to hand him over to the authorities, so if you have plans, I can tag along?”

Despite the growing discomfort in her legs, she was action-oriented and would simply keep going back out into the field until she fell over from exhaustion.
