Irina's face heated up as he called her bluff, but she at least this time managed to keep her heart somewhat calm, despite the rising discomfort in the awkwardness that had suddenly arisen between them. Her feet shifted slightly, her eyes downcast, feeling slightky embarrassed but trying desperately not to show it.
Her gaze lifted up as he said goodnight, a small smile on her lips. So it was just as simple as that? She relaxed a little. "Goodnight, Aerik." She replied softly watching him go till he round the corner and disappeared from sight. She stayed put for a few beats longer, lost for a moment in her own thoughts before realising she was still out in the open. Light syeps carried her into the shadows and back towards her dorm.
The evening hadn't exacyly gone as planned, and she might have felt annoyed about it had the circumstances been different, but it hadn't been a total waste.
For the first time in her life, Irina had a friend.
