{FRINGE} Aligning with a Super Power

Sno smiled, "That is the thing. Though i know the kill switch, the only way for it to be entered into my network is from the Councils Chambers (do those exist? Lmao) on Annaj. The best i may do with the code is shut down a single target one by one. But with each shut down, a signal is sent. So that isnt all that intelligent.

"Alongside that was the necessity for the kill switch. Would you rather run the risk of another Zaiden? Lastly, this isnt the only code you may use. If deemed untrustworthy, simply change the code from your computers on Annaj. I am not even required to know of a change."

@[member="Rave Merrill"]

"No." Faenrovon rumbled at last. "You require more oversight and guidance. The shares of your company should be divided between members of the High Council, each individual owning 10% of the shares. We shall purchase these shares from you. Such funds provide you with enough liquid capital to expand your ventures, while giving us the proper oversight your company requires. The agreement would be... amenable to both parties," his words rumbled like thunder into the minds of those present.

Arching a brow the woman offered a small smile, the dragon made sense? "10% among so many is quite steep. How about a counter; 40% from Blasted Decisions, our shipyards, and mineral organizations for the Council to hold as a whole. Not counting the percentage owned by Ms Merrill. Leaving the Fringe holding a great deal of authority over my dealings. At that point, if i sneeze to loud ill have to report it to the Council.

And i won't make the purchase seperate, the shares will be included in the sponsorship

"Acceptable, oh bellowy one?"

@[member="Faenrovon The Radiant"] @[member="Rave Merrill"]

The woman smiled, their most skeptical agreed. This was a good sign, "What say the rest of you then?"

@[member="Rave Merrill"] @[member="Hannibal Oryen"] @[member="Lucien Cordel"] @[member="Anders Sivas"] @[member="Faenrovon The Radiant"]

"I question whether you'd feel bound by leverage on your subsidiaries alone -- but yes, I'm amenable. On one condition -- you give us samples of your very best experimental technology, up front. Experimental starship drives and a thorough systems breakdown of your combat droids, for a start."

"Let me know when you're ready to begin, @[member="Sno Wyte"], and we'll work on those methods. Consider it a perk." The least I can do is maintain my mandate to heal and help. @[member="Coryth Elaris"] would be proud of her 'sibling' on that one, I reckon. Wonder what this will teach me in these cases? Ought to be fun, and by fun I mean life affirming. Yes, yes.

"Might I add that on our own time and authority we may - at any point - be privy to all the books and R & D. Meaning the members of the Fringe's High Council can at our leisure make ourselves abreast of all your dealings, technology, the mechanization process and staffing. We get to see everything. Even the hidden books. @[member="Rave Merrill"], you know more about this than I do, what is the likelihood of these droids being hacked by an outside influence? And what if the Council's not on Annaj?"

Also, I'm about ready to kiss the dragon. @[member="Faenrovon The Radiant"] mentioning the High Council becoming shareholders of a large conglomerate is warming the cockles of my penniless heart. What, I'm not rich. I'm sleeping on @[member="Jared Ovmar"]'s couch for pity's sake. It would be worthwhile to have some potential for income coming in. That and a decent meal. I'm a skinny kid, there's a reason. "I second the stockholder idea. Just saying. It'd be fantastic if that was voting shares, by the way."

@[member="Lucien Cordel"] @[member="Hannibal Oryen"]

@[member="Anders Sivas"]

"Oh, we'll get the full picture," Rave agreed, "it's just that we need a serious look beforehand, to ascertain exactly what you're asking about -- the likelihood of takeover. And yes," she added, looking back at Sno, "the Council does its business in many places, not just Annaj."

"Does this mean we each get a super duper decoder ring with epic authoritative powers? Democracy rocks." I give Rave a smile, just to keep the energy light or as light as possible in a tense situation. "Seems it's more about the people who hold the authority than it is the place they're in. Still, a consensus would be good, so no Council Member can act alone. Keeping the accountability within as well as without."

@[member="Rave Merrill"] @[member="Sno Wyte"]

Sno turned her gaze to Rave first, "I can do one better. Explain our experimental tech, and even utilize skill sets here to finish the ideas. As well, remember that I am the main face for this company now. Everything I do reflects back on thousands of people. The subsidiary holdings should more then still any fears.

"Onto the books. Being a sponsor, you will have access to all information pertaining to sales, materials, monetary income etc. I will retain staff books, time schedules, all the minor things. Mainly because this information is on a need to see basis. If there is a time when it becomes necessary however, that information will not be with held either.

"I am hearing an over all acceptance, is this the case?"

Hannibal wanted to point out what an absolutely terrible idea it was to apply a universal kill switch to an entire droid army. He especially wanted to point out that making the secret code something so banal as "shadows are life" would make it relatively easy for any competent slicer to gain the code. If this entire conversation wasn't above Hannibal's pay-grade, he would have suggested making the universal shut down code (if they indeed insisted on having one for whatever cliche reasons they dreamed up) an insanely complex combination of number strings, lower and upper case letters, and phrases in obscure languages. That way, no one could administer it on a per-droid basis either. Giving that ability to anyone was stupid and would only lead to problems if a person who knew the code decided to go batpoodo for whatever reason.

Voicing any of these concerns would have had Hannibal transition from an unsophisticated, thuggish mercenary type into the typical, snobbish Fondorian. So in his own interests, Hannibal kept his peace. Ovmar hadn't told him to say anything else on the matter, so now he just stood around looking pretty. Looking pretty and trying to ignore the stench of animal crap wafting through his mask's filtration system.

"Obviously no defensive systems will be put in place without top-of-the-line encryption. That system's encryption would be in the hands of security experts, not corporate executives. We would have our own security specialists create and enable the...'decoder rings', as my learned colleague so pungently put it."

She massaged the bridge of her nose between thumb and forefinger, and looked around at her fellow High Councilors. "Are we ready to put this to bed?"

"What about staffing Dossiers? I know I'd like to see who the company is hiring in its positions. The right or wrong people can make wealth or war and I think that falls under our purview for the major positions. Officers, Managers, that sort. Scientists. What do you think, @[member="Rave Merrill"]? Provisional of a search through the books, the staffing, the security analysis, yeah I give my vote. But what does @[member="Faenrovon The Radiant"] think?" I half expected to hear a vast diminishment of animal noises at the zoo with the Dragon around. Hey, exotic snack tables! But alas, Faenrovon's a diligent element working on protecting our interests and I for one am learning to value his reptilian opinion.

Speaking of reptilian, wonder what Lucien the Terrifying is thinking at the moment? "I went to Art College, I learned." As I stand here I'm actually proud of myself for having something to say. Anders Sivas, figuring things out. I'm a far cry from the nineteen year old who tossed and turned between whatever symbiosis I'd fallen under before Spencer found me and Jared brought me under his wing. Getting the hang of helping and expanding as myself has been a filling modicum of pride.

"If you refer to the voice, he deemed it worthy already. And as said, i will hold those close tothe chest until deemed necessary to give forth the information. If i am to be held responsible for those beneath me, then you need not know them correct? For at this point, no others matter. You will be given every portion of information required for shareholders, and then some as this is as well a sponsorship, but you do not own the company nor its workers - whom for the note tend to be slaves that were mistreated and now are given insentive to work.

"As Ms Merrill asked, may we wrap this up? I still have to go and fix relations with other factions now."

@[member="Anders Sivas"]

Lucien webbed his fingers and nodded "This all seems agreeable to me, You have my vote Lady Wyte ... don't disappoint me" He said nonchalantly. He had said his piece and things seem to have improved, He was just glad to see a treaty at all. It had gone rather in the fringes favor meaning they had gone in his favor. He smiled lightly and contemplated making a veiled threat but decided against it, opting instead to listen to the others.

"That seems to be 3 for, are there still any against it?" Sno asked with an arched brow.
