From Bad to Worse

This would be the part where Vivian Talina Octavia fell into a symbolic or tragic dream where she could say final words to her family and receive some form, any form of closure. I say this would be, because it would have been....in a movie. However far be it from her life to be on the silver screen and as such when the young woman eventually cried herself into exhausted slumber there were no dreams, only darkness.

So she slept, and slept...and would you be surprised if I said and slept once more? At least as her life crumbles to dust she can get good rest.

Eventually however Vivian awoke, finding herself immediately confronted by a visually impaired gizka who looked at her quizzically with his one eye. She returned the gaze, but rather instead of quizzical, she gave the reptile red and bleary.

“Croak?”

Instead of striking the creature like she usually would have, the socialite simply lay there, studying the innocent little creature who upon sensing her continued sadness leaned forward and gave her cheek a friendly lick.

Brave, but it ultimately paid off as Vivian moved a hand out to pet the well-meaning little critter. However she was yet to move, choosing to remain upon the bed in a state of misfortune and woe. One couldn't just cry away their pain in one sitting and get back to normal.

Logan boarded the shape with some haste. He had gotten away with stealing the credits and buying the things they needed with them, but that was no reason to press his luck.

Before he had even completely boarded the ship Logan threw the bag of food and the second backpack into the hangar bay, tossing them down and climbing into the ship before throwing his own backpack down besides them before slamming the close hatch button. He quickly grabbed the one important part and walked toward the engine rooms, noticing a distinct lack of other Gizka.

Shrugging, Logan tore open one of the metal panels, fiddling with the systems and installing the gravity regulator in its proper place.

The Slicer nodded to himself, testing the system to make sure it was in the green before closing the metal panel and slowly making his way towards the captains quarters. His boots resounded loudly, and through the halls he noticed that the door was hanging wide open, just as he had left it. Logan assumed that meant Vivian had yet to move, though he heard no crying coming from the room.

“Vivian?” He called out to her, cautiously.

As she heard her captor's footsteps echo throughout the ship Vivian remained, still looking at the gizka while she gently scratched his scaly little head, he seemed to respond well to it, laying down and closing his remaining eye. You know what they say, petting animals is the truest form of feel-good therapy.

Even if she was still completely torn on the inside.

Her name was called, and she looked to the open door for a moment. Trying to come up with the words to say: 'hello, I'm still alive but I need somebody to talk to, to hold me' but then it finally occurred to the socialite that she did not know his name. He clearly knew hers but she didn't know his, she had been calling him loser the entire time.

It was almost amusing.

Hand stopped scratching the gizka's head, causing his eye to open once more and the creature greedy for more petting pushing his head into her hand. He had gotten very comfortable, very quickly.

“I'm here,” she finally replied, voice hoarse and tired.

He made his way into the Captains quarters at an almost sluggish pace, looking down at her on the bed, feeling awkward, then taking a seat on a nearby chest that he supposed contained the captains belongings.

For the longest time, Logan said absolutely nothing, he simply thought of what would comfort her, what would make her feel better, and what would hopefully bring her back to normal.

“I fixed the gravity.” He started off, then shook his head. “Listen...”

He trailed off for a second, the scrubbed a hand through his hair.

“This station isn't exactly safe, but if you want I can drop you off somewhere, give you a few thousand credits...” He stopped, looked up at her in the bed, then at the little Gizka. “Or you can stay with me. I'm not exactly the best person, but we have this ship. I changed its ID tags and transponder code so it won't be found, at least not without some heavy weight...”

He trailed off, as if realizing he was rambling.

The moment in which you could tell that something was wrong was the extremely sombre manner in which Vivian responded to the gravity being fixed.

“Thanks.”

He rattled off the options as the gizka still pursued more petting, continuing the nudge the woman's hand that still hung just above the creature's head and for a moment she just lay there in silence considering it.

A few thousand credits. Not so long ago that was just a tip for service staff and now, now it was money to survive upon. She could get some 'stim with it and then....and then what? There was nowhere to go. What skills or qualifications did she have? What could she do? Get a job? Find an embassy and cry?

Life was never going to be the same, that was more than evident but now she was at a cross roads.

“...what's your name?”

Part of him wanted to not tell her the truth, he wanted to say anything but his real name, but Logan knew that wasn't an option. This girl had lost everything. Her money, her family, hell, her entire planet was gone. Who was she even going to tell if he told her the truth? Run to the nearest Security station and scream that Logan Valde had kidnapped her? It wasn't like she didn't have a chance to run over the last three hours anyway.

“Logan. Logan Valde.” He finally said it.

Truth be told many people didn't all him Logan, many people didn't even know that name. It was on no official records or ID's, no government agency had it, and no one, not even fellow slicers, knew it. To the outside world, the was the Slicer known as Blink, and that had served him well.

Here however, it didn't feel right.

There we go, a name to a face. Something more suitable than loser.

She offered him a sad smile, hand finally moving back down to scratch the gizka's head again, finally pacifying the oddly smart little reptile. Vivian Octavia had made her decision, it wouldn't be easy but there was no longer an easy path available in her life.

“Well, [member="Logan Valde"],” she began, looking him in the eye with those bloodshot blues, “where do we go next?”
