Fuzzy Handcuffs (Kaileann Vera)

[member="Kaileann Vera"]

Poy looked at the girl. “You know, I never found out your name...” she said, as she wondered how they would manage to find worker disguises and sneak to the washroom, without raising any suspicions. Then it came to the Twi’lek; the workers must have their own staff quarters there, so she might peek there and see if she could acquire some uniforms for them to “borrow” for their escape.

“And I might get back to the old section and see if I can find some uniforms for us to wear,” Poy gave a wink and she said she would be back as soon as she could with their disguises. Bobo clung to her neck and the Twi’lek crept out of the cell and made her way down towards the old portion of the prison. She got through the iron gate with her fashioned nail lock-pick and began her search.

Bobo climbed onto Poy’s lekku and the Twi’lek saw two of those builders were making their way down toward a temporary room; that was probably the break room. A builder came out of a side door, so she caught a glimpse of lockers in the room, so she slowly made her way down to it. Like a flash, she sprinted in through the partially open door and hid down the back, behind some lockers.

Hopefully no one would come in and discover her and Bobo. But she was in for another lucky streak; the builders had been asked to work overtime today, so they would be working at the site for just over twelve hours. She looked at the rows upon rows of green full-length lockers and Poy knew that she would have her work cut out for her. She decided it was time for her to get to work.

Each locker had a combination lock on them, so this was going to be a major struggle to try and guess those combinations. The first one didn’t work, along with the second and third locks. Moving down the line, each locker defeated a determined Twi’lek, until she got to the second row and the sixth locker down; in a rare guess, she turned the lock to “60-27-35” and then pulled down on it.

Amazingly, it worked! There were two freshly cleaned uniforms hanging up on coat hangers inside, so she took them and tucked them inside her flight suit. It was now time to get back to the cell before any builders returned. She made it out of the locker room and back out to the gate. She thought a builder might have seen her, but his gaze was actually on the clock on the wall and not her, so she ran down the corridor and to the iron gate, starting to sweat slightly.

She locked the gate behind her and then ran quietly back to the cell, opening up the door and stepping inside. Locking the door behind her, Poy showed off the uniforms she had managed to procure and put Bobo back onto her cot. As she looked over the uniform, she just had to hope that they would be enough to fool the others and allow them to pass down to the washroom unnoticed. If this happened, they would have to get down into the tunnel unnoticed next.

“I heard the builders saying that they had to work right through today, so we’ll probably get past without being detected,” Poy lay down on her cot and could almost taste the freedom. Soon enough, they would be out of this hellhole and the two would soon be on their journey back to friendly lines, if there were any near them. The tension was thick and Poy found herself getting restless now.

Uniforms now?

Poy was certainly resourceful. How she managed to do that was beyond what Kaile could ever consider doing by herself. None the less, Kaile wasn't about to look a gift bantha in the mouth.

She went about changing.

"It's Kaile." she told the Rutian later. "My name is Kaile." at the very least, it was something that the other woman should know. A deep breath. "Okay, so .." brown eyes would lock onto those of Poy. Since she was the one who had the most exposure to the facility, and such, it made sense for Poy to take the lead.

"Ready?" she asked her. If she was, then they would be off.

Poy finished changing into her builder’s uniform, and then nodded at Kaile, as she put the hard hat on her head. “Let’s go!!” she said, making her bed up so it seemed she was still asleep in it for those prison guards to discover. Bobo climbed up onto Poy’s shoulder and then she opened up the cell door, looking out for any guards. Thankfully, none of them were patrolling here at this time.

Poy lead the way down the corridor. She took up a strong hold of Kaile’s hand and kept her close to her. As they got down to the iron gate, she saw that two shadows were behind them; it was the Commandant and Chief Warden of all people. “And where have you come from?!!” the Chief Warden asked in a loud voice, taking the blaster pistol from his holster and began loading in rounds.

“We have just come from the toilets. It is very rude of you to ask,” Poy said, as she turned to look at him. He smiled and then noticed Bobo. “I have seen that little creature before. Wasn’t he in the quarantine, before he was spirited away by that disobedient Twi’lek doctor?” Poy felt coldness starting to creep up her body; was he finally onto their escape plan? She had to do something fast.

The two men slowly approached the two “builders” and got within a few feet of the girls, with the Commandant also taking out his blaster pistol. He loaded it as well, and cocked the weapon. “And you do know the penalty for workers at the prison helping prisoners? It means death!” the Commandant roared, as he inched closer to the Twi’lek. Was this the end? Poy looked over to Kaile.

Things got complicated, but this was the exact reason why Kaile had Poy take care of Bobo. She had to be able to use the Force freely outside of Bobo's Force Null bubble.
Swallowing hard, Kaile felt the Force rise in her. She wasn't a master by any means, but mindtricks had been her specialty. The only risk is if some of them were resistant or had strong wills to combat her suggestions.

"We are merely builders." a small wave of her fingers from left to right. The suggestion would be implanted. "Let us pass."

The men suddenly would stiffen, then relax.

Did it work?

Did it?

"You are builders." they then parted ways, "You may pass."

Poy looked in shock as the Commandant, and Chief Warden, turned on their heels and returned to their quarters. The Twi’lek had not seen anything like it in her life. “How did you do that?!!!” she exclaimed, as she took Kaile by the hand and lead her to the gate, which she opened up with her nail lock-pick.

“I don’t know what you did there Kaile, but I’m thankful you did something. I was sure that they were going to kill us....” the gate squeaked as it opened on rusty hinges. Poy lead the way through the worksite and they arrived at the washroom, but there was now a brand new problem ahead - some builders.

Four builders were standing around the gate; it seemed they were intent on replacing it with a new one that was electronically locked. “Damn it!!” Poy said in a hushed voice - this was another barrier to their freedom. “What shall we do?” the Twi’lek looked worryingly at her; would she be able to do it again?

"Don't thank me yet. We still have to save our skins!" she told Poy.

Kaile would follow Poy, until they got to the new electronic gate. Her lips would purse. What to do? Eyes would narrow and she would walk towards the console. A quick study would give her the determination of what she was working with.

She didn't have any of her tools to slice into it, however...

Her hand came to rest right over the console. One of the few things she was able to manipulate through the Force were electronics. Not on a grand scale, but for a security door?

Just enough juice.

Kaile let the Force flow through her, waterfall down her arm and into her hand. From there, she could feed and push the Force into the console. Her brow would furrow in growing concentration. With the Force she was able to discern a few nuances. Probing deeper, she would manipulate the console to shift, move and then...

A click of an unlock and the deactivation of the energy field. Kaile would lift her eyes, but she was visibly worn out from that entire endevour.

"Okay... let's... let's go. "

“You can leave us. We will take over from you now...” Poy said, as those four other builders were surprised, but were grateful for the extra break from their workday.

She opened up the gate after they rounded the corner and followed Kaile into the walled off section of the old prison. “There it is!” she exclaimed loudly; the washroom was just up ahead of them and she could taste the freedom.

The Twi’lek just had to hope that the builders would not come back. If they did and tried to open the gate to resume working, they would find that it had been sealed shut, and it would then take them some time to open it up again.

She took hold of Kaile’s hand and ran down the corridor to the washroom. The door was locked, so Poy kicked it in and it flew off its hinges. She walked over to the grate and lifted it up slowly - thankfully no one had tampered with it.

“Are you ready for it Kaile?” Poy asked, as she placed the grate onto the floor, and then lifted up the concrete tunnel cover and slipped down into the tunnel - it was big enough for both to stand up, but it was plunged into darkness.

Feeling around for a switch, she found one and hit it. Lights came on all along the length of the tunnel, and vanished into the distance. It looked as if the old tunnel had been made to operate even if the original escapees never got out.

Well.. this was going to be interesting. Truth be told, her stomach was sinking at the thought of having to go through the tunnel. A knot grew in Kaile's through and she gave a slight shudder. Wait, was that a bit of nausea?

Ohhh, good golly. Just gotta breathe.

First off, she had to make sure Bobo would be okay. She extended her hands out. "Here , give him to me. I'll tuck him into my shirt." not that Poy didn't get a good measure of trust. It was that she wanted to have Bobo with her. He was after all, her most treasured friend.

Poy gave Bobo back to Kaile and she then climbed out and grabbed the grate that was still on the floor. She went back into the tunnel, pulled the grate over her head and began to secure it, making sure that if the guards found out that they were missing, they would have to cut up the grate with a cutting torch. So once the guards began cutting, it would give them precious time to escape.

“Let’s go!!” the Twi’lek said, as she led the way down the tunnel. She began to wonder how long it must have taken this original group of escapees to create this tunnel. Once they got out, she wanted to find them and thank them for the amazing piece of engineering that they had constructed under the very noses of the Commandant, Chief Warden and guards, who never suspected a thing.

The tunnel seemed to be at least a mile or two in length, so it must run all the way from the prison, into the surrounding terrain and emerge somewhere safe and secure, like an abandoned house. “I wonder how long it would have taken them to build this?” Poy mused, as she continued wandering down the tunnel; and up ahead, she saw an alcove that had non-perishable food and drink.

She took the food and drink and handed some over to Kaile. “It looks like you need something,” the Twi’lek munched on the energy food and took a swig of water, it was refreshing and her lekku twitched. “I get the feeling they come to find us soon,” she said, as the lekku began twitching and moving even more - this was a bad sign that trouble was brewing and would boil over shortly.

Kalie took the food and the drink. She was tired, and yes hungry. But hungry was good, hungry meant she was alive. Hungry meant that there was still hope. She eagerly dug into the food, opening the bottle of water to drink and sate her thirst.

She caught the slight tremble of Poy's lekku. Yeah, they were bound to notice something happened. That they were gone.

"We just gotta keep moving," Kaile told her, handing her the bottle of water back so that the Rutian could take a drink.

"Gotta be quick. We can't afford spending too much time in one place."

They couldn't stop until they were well out of this place.

Poy nodded as she took Kaile’s hand and she virtually dragged her down the tunnel, as her lekku twitched all over; the guards must have found their empty cell and were now spreading out to try and recover them before they got out.

The tunnel became a blur as they ran and ran, with Bobo clinging on Kaile’s neck, peering over her shoulder. “I think that they are at the gate!!” Poy yelled, as she sensed a wave of overflowing negative energy coming towards them.

Finally, after more running and panting, they had arrived at the end of the old tunnel. A ladder appeared in front of them and went to a destination unknown, so Poy motioned for Kaile and Bobo to go up first and see what was there.

“If they come down here, I will hold them off for as long as I possibly can,” she said with a smile and looked back over her shoulder. She could hear them at the grate now, trying to pull it and swearing. The cutting would soon begin.

"Don't be silly!" Kaile told the Rutian.

"Come on!" she grabbed her shirt and shoved her to go forward. "GO!" it was all or nothing. Both of them or not at all. No one was getting left behind on her watch.

"You know the way so go." If anything, she was better trained.. She could do this.

"Hurry"

Poy nodded, and went up the wooden ladder, taking some deep breaths and watching as that hatch high above her slowly came into view. “I can see a sort of hatch above me. This must be the exit,” she got underneath it and began to push against it; it would not budge an inch, no matter how hard she had tried.

So the Twi’lek flipped upside down and she kicked with all her might, breaking off the hinge and sending the hatch flying. She pulled herself upright and then finally emerged into a clearing of trees that ran near a trail. “It is beautiful,” she said, as she leant back down into the tunnel and saw Kaile climbing up to her.

The Twi’lek walked several feet and collapsed on the fresh grass. It was good to be alive. She took in deep breaths of the clean air and began to laugh; they had succeeded and now the final phase of their escape plan could be put into action - finding friendly Galactic Alliance forces or either hitching a ride home.

While Poy celebrated by flopping onto the ground. Kaile made sure to double check that hatch. They couldn't have anyone come on after them. She took the time to take a few steps away.

"Just a sec Bobo." she told the tiny lizard, placing him on the ground. With a grunt, she stepped back until she was no longer in the Force Null barrier, the Force once again surging through the Lorrdian.

After staggering for a bit, Kaile cleared her vision. With a grimace she held her hands over the hatch. One of the few things she could do was telekinesis... and in that, she put in every ounce of her energy towards warping the metal underneath her to make it all the more difficult to open.

[member="Kaileann Vera"]

Poy watched as Kaile began to warp the hatch to make sure it stayed closed - the guards would stay in the tunnel forever most likely. Looking down the trail, she could see a small log cabin nestled into a copse of tall trees.

Hopefully someone would be there to help them on their way back home. “I hope that someone lives in that log cabin up ahead,” she said to Kaile, as she watched smoke rising up from the chimney and the smell of food cooking.

The Twi’lek lay down on the grass with Bobo and played with him, while Kaile continued her job of sealing the tunnel hatch shut for good. “I hope that is has not been stressful for you little friend,” she asked him, as she picked him up.

Right now, all Kaile could do is flop down on the ground. There was no moving her. No encouraging her to. She needed rest. A gesture would motion to the Rutian, on that would advise the girl to keep a low profile.

They weren't sure who else would be around here. Folk that could readily take them right back. Every possibility still existed that patrols could come looking for them soon enough.

"Just a few minutes."

Then they could head off and try to find a way off planet.

Poy lay down beside Kaile and played with Bobo, letting him run up and down her arms. “I still can’t believe that we did it!!!” she said, looking over at her and giving a big smile. They had overcome the greatest challenge in Poy’s life.

“But we’ll have to be careful that no one double crosses us, or something and they return us to the prison,” the Twi’lek would have hated to have come over someone who had their best interests at heart, before turning them over.

She imagined the prison guards searching high and low, tearing that prison to pieces; going from cell to cell. The Commandant and Chief Warden would be screaming orders to the guards, feeling enraged that they had been duped.

[member="Poy Luroon"]

Now that was something Kaile could wholeheartedly agree with.

Another series of nods, and the Lorrdian would continue to catch her breath. Just a few more minutes. Eyes would squint up. A hand came up to shield her eyes. It was a bright day. Too bright.

"We shouldn't be out in the open." Kaile told Poy. Okay, they had to keep moving. Kaile may be tired, but they couldn't stop now.

"Come on.. let's go. Let's find cover so we can head towards that small spaceport in the datafile." it had been in the datacron. Kaile didn't know how well it would be with security. Or heck, it could be a private one.

Just had to keep going.

[member="Kaileann Vera"]

Poy nodded and she got to her feet, picking Bobo up, and putting him around her neck. “So how far away is that spaceport?” her lekku perked up, and they began moving around excitedly. “Hopefully we might be able to find someone there who can take us home,” she bounced up and down with excitement. As she started off down the trail, she wondered what they would find there.

The Twi’lek lead the way down the trail, past the log cabin. She didn’t want to look inside, in case the homeowner was an enemy sympathiser. “And what is the plan if is a privately owned spaceport? Will we have to break in there and get our hands on an empty craft and make our own way home on our own?” it was a daunting thought, since Poy had only flown Alliance starfighters.

[member="Poy Luroon"]

"About ten klicks from here."

It would be quite a walk.

"We'll have to see. Plan as we go." a frown came to Kalie as they began their trek. Staying alone the treeline was good. It would give them aerial and ground cover.

"If it is privately owned.... well... maybe we can borrow something." acquire really. It was doubtful that there would be people who would be eager to help strangers. Especially the way they looked now.

"Maybe find a way to clean up. Look less conspicuous."
