Nodding her head, "I have no doubt that the Senate would choose someone unworthy for the spot. And it seems he has a fantastic record as a senator which can only mean good things."

Lily was ever optimistic when it came to people and she wanted to be positive that change would be good. "Nearly a year now, joined the Order later than others. How about yourself?" Lily asked as she looked over to Corazona and waved to the Jedi Knight. She had yet to interact much with the Jedi Knight but she had heard that Corazona was a fellow noble Jedi in stature.

With a love for the finer things in life, something that Lily also loved.

Amani offered Alicio a nod of assurance, recognizing the sparkle in his eye and coming to the same conclusion.

Maybe later.

She listened to his speech intently. It was technically his first outing as Chancellor, and (in her biased opinion) his words were much of what the Alliance needed. A call of unity and progress. Not perfection, certainly not in an instant either. But genuine, committed progress. Idealism and realism tying together quite nicely. It was a message that would speak to many who were uncertain in these uncertain times. Some of the senators said as much themselves.

Of course it was only a matter of time before business took precedent. In fact it was hardly any time at all. Amani couldn't help but be immediately tired by it (though she deftly avoided any outward showing of such), especially when the corporatists predictably put their focus on economics. The talks were necessary, she supposed. It was just disappointing how little time they had for celebration and optimism these days. Then she nearly chuckled at herself. Her thoughts sounded like those of her padawan self years ago. Unrelentingly hopeful, even to the point of naïveté. Perhaps it would be a good thing, to feel that again.

A few others spoke as well, offering congratulations or questions of their own. Jenn Kryze was there, and made an effort to speak on behalf of her clan. Amani wasn't exactly surprised by her appearance, she knew Alicio had worked with the Mandalorian before (and been kidnapped by her). Amani could respect Kryze's turn from foe to supporter, indeed it was a welcome turn to see many other Mandalorians make the same shift. Amani was more than happy to be proven wrong on that front. Deep down though, she couldn't help but wonder if the shift in allegiances was only temporary. As such things so often seemed to be in galactic history. But it wasn't that which kept Amani icy towards Jenn. Being a Jedi was often work that involved making peace with others, including those who were once villains. Redemption was a core tenet. With Jenn, it was more about a perceived lack of respect the Mandalorian had for Amani. She had never truly heeded the Jedi's words, like they were only something she agreed to for the sake of avoiding a confrontation in the moment. Only for her to have the gall to kidnap her husband and then extend the olive branch in turn, the latter of which Amani never even had a part in. Was it a selfish grudge? Perhaps. But Amani wasn't exactly going to grin as she was walked all over.

It was only a matter of time before Senator Dod made himself heard.

Out of all his political opponents, there were none quite so persistent as Monaray Dod and the Trade Federation. It seemed every bill introduced before the senate saw them on opposite sides. Despite all his talk of an Alliance unified under common purpose... Alicio was concerned the senator from Cato Neimoidia would be the one to prove him wrong.

If there ever were a time to extend an olive branch, it would be now. But when it came to policy, to his promises to the people? He would not bend.

"Thank you, Senator Dod, for your commendation. I realize we rarely see eye to eye, but I look forward to you keeping us honest about our government spending. Now... You speak of Tithe's SILK Road." The Chancellor's countenance became sharper, just a bit more dangerous. "A bill personally written and championed by the former chancellor himself."

"I hope I don't have to spell out why I'm hesitant giving more power to a motion written by a confirmed traitor. In fact, I think it might be prudent of us to re-tread some of the legislation passed during that time, inspect how they've affected our economy, and make informed decisions based off the facts we find. We should decide what to do to shore up diplomatic ties in the region, but it would be wise to explore our options first."
And that was where he was going to leave that, for now.

Then, it was the delegation from Onderon's turn to speak. Alicio's lip tensed as he watched the new King of Onderon speak. He let a subtle smile shadow his face, before letting it fall as quickly. The planet had just suffered a heavy blow- nobody would give Vince grief for grieving. But then, unexpectedly, Alor Kryze found her voice.

Alicio reaction was a little different from Amani's. Despite having been prisoner to the Mandalorian himself, he'd found a stalwart ally and good friend in Jenn. But oddly enough, Jenn earned a frown, too. He canted his head to the side, obviously parsing her words with a politician's care, before responding to both. "Ambassador Kalmorak. Nobody here would have thought twice if you had not been able to be here, today. Your attendance is seen. Thank you." Then, to Jenn, he leaned a bit heavier onto his podium. "Alor Jenn Kryze, I genuinely thank you for your words, as well. I will... try my best, to live up to them. The volunteer service of you and your kin have also been seen. The full force of an Alliance relief response is en route to Onderon, if they haven't arrived already. Both Onderon and Clan Kryze have suffered greatly at the hands of the GA's enemies, I hope you'll allow us to help you rejuvenate your world, honor our heroes, and grieve the dead together."

"Beyond that... I imagine we also have a lot to talk about, Lady Kryze."

Marya repressed her outward expression as Alicio Organa Alicio Organa answered her second question, limiting it to a small smile. But she was delighted to hear it.

While the others spoke, bringing up past legislation, she took notes. What was this Southern Interplantary Linkages Trade Route Act, and why was its acronym SILK rather than SILT? How odd. She would have to look more into it later...

So far everything was going off without a hitch. At least, until the King of Onderon spoke, then yielded the floor to Jenn Kryze Jenn Kryze . Marya detected a hint of tension, moreso between Jenn and Alicio's wife Amani Serys Amani Serys than the former and Alicio, though there was something there too. She wondered what it was. Alicio had been abducted by Mandalorians, if she recalled correctly. Perhaps that was why?

Sycorax had been openly anti-Mandalorian - ostensibly due to the then conflict with their Enclave, but in reality out of personal prejudice. Marya had no particularly strong feelings toward these people, though she wouldn't hesitate to crush them if they interfered with her plans. She doubted this Clan Kryze had any interest in her world, but if they were presenting themselves as mercenaries for hire, perhaps they could be of use in her design.

Wow a year? That was a long time to Kuhbee and he was so excited to meet someone who had more experience as a padawan than him.

[I've only been a padawan for two weeks now! I just got my master. Do you have a master yet? ] He was so excited he knocked over a cup sitting in front of him and water spilled on the table.

[Oh I'm sorry!] He felt like a big goof and if he could have blushed he was sure he would have.

Damian Du Couteau, Senator of Empress Teta

Damien continued to listen, his ears ever so diligent to pick up on key words as he read through another report on his data-slate. It was all beginning to sound a bit more interesting, but try as he might, his own eyelids weighed heavier with every second. Carefully he maneuvered the data-slate beneath him towards another area of the desk. Placing both arms crossed below him, he made himself a pillow with his forearm, the top of his head nestled between near the crook of his wrist.

This was perhaps the most important reason why he chose to not show up at the inauguration, the photos of a Senator sleeping might have proved too much for him to bear. A sigh finally escaped his pursed lips as Damian allowed his mind to slow and wander into the warm embrace of nothingness. A dark storm was brewing on either side of the Alliance, the crashing waves of hatred and grief threatened to capsize the grandest ship in the sea.

For the moment though his office was silent as the grave, the holonews switched off and only the lights turned on indicating any sign of life. Damian could almost forgive himself into believing the galaxy around was no bigger than the room, organized and filled with his family’s capes. But this wasn’t the galaxy that was promised to us, instead we were given nothing but a dream to chase. He barely managed to crack a single eyelid, his data-slate’s silent alarm lighting up with notifications. Damian returned his gaze back to the inside of his eyelids and took comfort that at least he managed to find some time to rest.

Senator of Cato Neimoidia

The Neimoidian could only glance towards the two Trade Federation Envoys seated nearby, positioned nearby, who appeared to be shifting uneasily in their chairs. Chancellor Organa demonstrated exceptional skill in his role, delivering a carefully considered response imbued with a courteous tone that effectively addressed the political tones of the situation.

While he ultimately opposed the proposal to expand the Southern Interplantary Linkages Trade Route Act, he explained his objections by highlighting that the legislation originated from a declared traitor who had sided with the Dark Empire. He further suggested that it would be more prudent for the Federal Assembly to concentrate on developing new legislation aimed at resolving the economic challenges arising from the ongoing war effort from a more modern standpoint.

"The Chancellor has us trapped it seems from a political standpoint, as pushing for Tithe's legislation would make us seem like Imperial Collaborators. That would not do well for our benefactors view of neutrality in the conflict " Doran said, leaning closer to Dod after a moment.

It was evident that any additional remarks regarding the issue would likely result in negative consequences for the Trade Federation. So the best move would be to pause the motion temporarily and consolidate his political influence on a more pressing and unavoidable matter for the Chancellor.

"If that is the will of the Office of the Chancellor, then the Delegation of Cato Neimoidia will withdraw the motion until proper review can be conducted by the relevant committees." Dod replied in a short-manner but polite to drop the matter entirely.

His eyes shifted briefly until the delegation from Onderon, represented by Prince, or more accurately, King Vince Vince , commenced their opening remarks, followed closely by Jenn Kryze Jenn Kryze .

Mirra, moved closer on his left side after hearing the Chancellor's response to Onderon's plea. "Senator, since the Common Soldier Act was stricken from Alliance Law earlier this month. This volunteer service provided by Clan Kryze against the enemies of the Alliance could be considered mercenary work and against Alliance Law."

Dod found himself in agreement on this matter, as he sought to urge the Chancellor for further clarification regarding Clan Kryze's position within the Galactic Alliance. He lightly brushed his hand against the podium, readying himself to deliver a statement befitting his political standing and expertise.

"The contributions of Clan Kryze to the defense of the Galactic Alliance and its citizens are undeniably significant. However, I find it necessary to scrutinize their formal status within the Alliance, particularly since volunteer activities were previously governed by the Common Soldier Act, which has since been repealed by the former administration. Should they not be recognized as an official unit of the Defense Forces, their status would align with that of mercenaries, a classification that is considered illegal within Alliance Space. We seek additional clarification from the Chancellor on this matter." He explained in a polite way, not intending to disrespect the losses of Clan Kryze in support of the Galactic Alliance. But wanting the Chancellor to explain this discrepancy for a more concrete understanding of the law and its limitations.

General Ministry Canton, Fondor
Central Pulpit

- Monaray Dod Monaray Dod - Jenn Kryze Jenn Kryze - Everybody Else -

It seemed the Senator from Cato Neimoidia wouldn't be cowed so easily.

Monaray's avenue of attack wasn't against him, but barbed at Jenn, questioning her standing in the Alliance as a whole. Whether the noble sacrifices of her clan were legal or not. Alicio nearly shot back an ill-timed retort, before biting his tongue, and giving the question the thought it deserved.

Alicio rolled his words around in his mouth a moment, before speaking. He knew how to snip the comment's thorns.

"Senator Dod, your point... has merit. The Alliance needs soldiers loyal to her people, not to her money. But, to my knowledge, Clan Kryze has never asked for credits for their volunteer work, and the only battle Jenn Kryze has participated in since the dissolution of the Common Soldier Corps was the recent attack on Onderon. Are you suggesting the Knight Commander of Onderon, appointed by the Crown of Onderon, should stay her hand in defense of her home?" That should have been enough to get Dod to drop it. But it wouldn't save Jenn from the headaches if she continued to intervene in war.

"Add that to our list of things to speak about, Jenn." He let a shadowed smile pass along his features.

The Bloodsucking Philanthropist
Wearing: This

Armed with: Charm, good looks...

Sera had kept her peace, let the others speak, jockeying.

Sera was not here to jockey.

Sera was here to assert.

One of the richest women in the Alliance, possibly the Galaxy, at this point, got out her Datapad, linked it to her social media account and began calmly typing. It got over a billion views in seconds after it was sent:

BACTA-WORKS STANDS BY TO SUPPLY THE GALACTIC ALLIANCE AND THE CHANCELLOR WITH WHATEVER THEY SHOULD REQUIRE, IN WHATEVER AMOUNT THEY REQUIRE IT, FOR AS CHEAP AS THEY OR THE NJO SHOULD NEED IT. WE STAND BY TO THROW THE FULL WEIGHT OF OUR COMPANY AND ITS SUB CORPORATIONS INTO THE SURVIVAL OF THE ALLIANCE AND ITS PEOPLE.

And then she stood up, as a representative.

"Anyone willing to shed blood for the Alliance deserves support. If Jenn Kryze Jenn Kryze or her Clan should need it, we would be happy supply them with Bacta at greatly reduced prices. This is the time for everybody to support the direction of Chancellor Organa, NOT a time to start biting the many hands that wish to help us survive. And we ourselves stand by with more than just Bacta, but a great vision we would share with this entire body at a more suitable date with Chancellor Organa's blessing of course."

She sat back down. She had made her Family's company official in its unquestioning, total support of Chancellor Organa's direction. She has kept it simple, so as to not steal Organa's thunder, but at the same time to let everyone here know the Chancellor had powerful friends in his struggle.

As if to back up her statement, The gargantuan relief vessel, the dagger shaped Breath of Lysandra came out of hyperspace above the world, glittering in orbit with a starbird symbol on the side.

Sera smiled pleasantly, ignoring the flurry of camera flashes directed at her...
