Out of the corner of her eye, Maiev saw Hwo attempt to reach out through the Force. A word of warning was on her lips, but it was already too late as the Cthon leaped up and towards them to attack.

Maiev took a step back, hands outstretched as she chanted a few words. Green magical ichor forming, crackling between her fingers. But it seemed Hwo had it handled, smoothly stepping into a stance as the creature leaped into the air.

A single swing of his lightsaber sent the Cthon’s head rolling away from its body. Maiev let out a sigh, letting her spell extinguish in her hands. She caught the Jedi’s look, and knew he was disappointed he had to take a life. But the witch knew there was no other way, the Cthon was too far gone to meet any other fate.

Well if I know my history well enough, they’re descended from humans that lived during Coruscant's infancy.” Maiev knelt down near the body, examining it. “A…Cthon, I think?

The sounds of more screeching and snarls brought the witch out of her musings. She spared a look towards Hwo, who seemed to share the same thought; their presence was now known.

However, before the pair could venture too further, a blood-curdling screech echoed from the depths. A wave of nauseous dark energy washed over them…over the decapitated Cthon.

Its body suddenly lifted itself up, just enough to stretch an arm out and drag itself forwards, towards its head. Maiev turned around, a look of recognition in her eyes. Necromantic magick.

The witch didn’t wait a second longer, hissing out a single chant before jets of green flame burst from the palms of her hands. She maintained it until the Cthon was nothing but ash.

"Believe it or not I didn't have a single cigarette. I was only grabbing some fresh air and thinking about matters at hand..." It seemed like Lily had entered at the wrong time, which made her think he was about to enjoy one of his prized cigarettes. That was far from the truth, smoking was the last thing he was thinking about these days. He wasn't going to debate about it though, Lily could believe whatever she liked for all he cared.

Looking back to Lily with a smirk, Silas glared at her momentarily before finally settling on his answer "Your ego of course, what did you think I was going to say?" Silas replied, knowing full well there were many other answers he could have said. Fortunately for Lily, Silas wasn't that daring when it came to women he'd only recently met. Even though it was tempting, Silas had standards he had to upkeep.

However, when the pair of them heard the noises getting closer their demeanor seemed to shift. There was no time to mess around anymore, the pair of them were about to go to war "They are coming, get ready..." he said while raising his lightsaber in a defensive position. In the meantime, the growls and grunts sounded like they were only a few feet away up until they suddenly stopped at a moment's notice. A tense silence soon followed, almost as if someone had flicked the switch on the sound.

The knight turned to Lily momentarily and looked to voice his concern "They ar-" Without warning, a Coruscani orge leaped from the darkness, its sharp and desperate teeth looking to to take a chunk out of Silas's neck. Yet, that wouldn't be the case. Rotating with swift intentions, he swung the blue lightsaber straight through the skull of the beast. Instantly, the body of the ogre fell to the floor in a motionless heap, ending its nightmare once and for all.

That, however, was an indication for the rest to rush forth for their dinner with a rawr like battlecry.

"We can hold them, use the narrow passage to your advantage!"

Vera's green lightsaber buzzed in the charged air as one of the remaining Troglodytes snarled and lunged toward her. Without hesitation, she raised her free hand, palm open. The Force surged through her, and in an instant, the creature was yanked downward with bone-crushing force. Its body slammed into the ground, flattened under the sudden shift in gravity. A little trick that Kahlil Noble Kahlil Noble taught her.

The creature let out a final wheeze, writhing weakly beneath her. Vera approached swiftly, her expression steely and focused. "I'm sorry," she murmured under her breath, though her resolve didn't waver. With a clean thrust of her green blade, she ended its suffering.

Turning toward Zaiya, Vera's silver-amber eyes softened briefly at the sight of her companion's visible discomfort, but her tone was firm as she spoke. "We need to keep moving," she said, stepping closer to Zaiya, her voice cutting through the lingering din of the battle.

Her gaze flicked back toward the shadows, where faint, guttural growls echoed in the distance. "More will come. We can't stay here."

Vera extended a hand to Zaiya, offering both encouragement and urgency. "You're doing great, but we've got to stick together and get through this. Let's go."

Her lightsaber hummed at her side, ready for whatever awaited them next, as she motioned for Zaiya to follow her deeper into the darkness.

Zaiya nodded firmly, though the vibrancy of her glowing hues dimmed just slightly, a soft wash of muted blues and greys rippling over her mottled skin. It stung a little to know they had to resort to such measures, but there was no time to linger on hesitation. They had to move forward.

"Okay, let's go," she said, her voice steady as she glanced toward Vera. following her footsteps. Zaiya kept her lightsaber ignited, the soft hum vibrating in her hand. She hoped it wouldn't come to using it again, but experience told her to be ready for anything.

A sudden, sharp surge of yellow streaked across her complexion, tinged with uneasy greys. Her head snapped up, her brows drawing forward slightly as she turned her attention ahead.

"There's someone... someone out there who needs help," she said, her voice quiet but urgent. Her gaze flickered toward Vera, her brow furrowing in concentration. "But there's something else. It feels... strange."

Zaiya's heart raced as she tried to pinpoint the sensation. It wasn't fear exactly, but a gnawing unease that prickled at the edges of her awareness, as if the Force was warning her of something beyond the obvious.

What Zaiya didn't know -- what none of them knew -- was that the person calling out for help had just come face to face with something ancient and dangerous: a Taung, one of the fabled warriors whose shadow still loomed over Mandalorian history.

The strange ripple in the Force grew stronger, pulling Zaiya and Vera toward what lay ahead.

Lily nodded her head, she took Silas at his word when he mentioned that he had not smoked that day they had sparred. She had no reason to disbelieve him and she was not seeking to demonstrate him a liar. He had redeemed himself from their first impression and she was going to respect that change. "Sorry to have accused you then." Lily stated, knowing the importance of apologising for false accusations. She had thought he had the air of someone who regularly smoked but it was a false assumption.

When he commented about her ego being large, she shook her head, "my ego is far from large." Lily admitted, she prided herself on certain talents but they were backed up with her demonstrating she deserved to take pride in them. But she never believed herself better than she was, often she placed herself lower down. Seeing other Padawans and fighters as much more skilled than she was. Lily didn't even think she would last long enough to make it as a Jedi Knight, yet alone a Master.

Their conversation was cut short when a Coruscanti ogre leaped out towards Silas. The Knight made short work of the beast but it had already alerted others to their presence and the beasts were approaching them. Lily nodded her head sharply to Silas as he instructed her to use the tight hallway to funnel the ogres to them. Breathing in deeply, Lily connected with the Force and felt it move into her muscles, strengthening her body and increasing her speed. Holding her cross guard Lightsaber in one hand, her left fist clenched tightly.

Lily darted forward, moving faster than normal and leaping forward she shot her fist forward. The impact was hard and would have broken her fist if she had not reinforced it. Crushing the skull of the ogre, she sent the beast flying back with her Lightsaber dancing and slashing at the next target. Lily moved fast, with the grace and elegance of a dancer. The steel gaze fixated on who she was attacking next, as she sliced through the ogre.

Vera's silver-amber eyes narrowed as she turned toward Zaiya, her stance shifting slightly in response to the younger girl's unease. The hum of her green lightsaber grew louder as she lifted it, casting a faint glow that reflected off the cavernous walls around them.

"Someone needs help?" she repeated, her voice calm but tinged with caution. Vera could sense the ripple in the Force now too — a strange, almost ancient resonance that felt both compelling and ominous. It tugged at her awareness, urging her forward, but she wasn't one to rush into something blind.

Her gaze softened as she glanced at Zaiya, noting the streaks of yellow and grey across her skin. "We'll go," Vera said firmly, taking a step closer to her companion. "But we stay sharp. If the Force is warning us, we need to be ready for anything."

The shadows ahead seemed darker now, more oppressive, but Vera's resolve only hardened. She motioned for Zaiya to follow, keeping her steps steady but deliberate as they pressed forward. Her senses extended outward, probing for whatever lay ahead.

The strange resonance in the Force grew stronger with each step, the air thickening with tension. Vera's grip tightened on her lightsaber, her fiery gaze scanning the path ahead. Whatever they were walking into, she was ready — not just for the battle, but for the weight of whatever ancient danger awaited them.

"We're getting close."

Zaiya nodded at Vera, glad that the Noble was also feeling it too. The air in the sinkhole tunnel was thick with dust and the faint tang of damp earth, muffling their footsteps as Zaiya and Vera made their way deeper into the winding passage. Zaiya's bioluminescent skin pulsed faintly with hues of dove grey and pale yellow in tension.

A sharp cry of pain split the air, echoing harshly off the walls. The Padawan froze for a heartbeat, exchanging a wide eyed glance to Vera before Zaiya bolted forward, her urgency leaving no room for hesitation.

The scene unfolded in a chaotic blur as they rounded a jagged corner. A man -- scruffy, panicked, and clearly out of his depth -- stumbled and fell, barely managing to roll out of the way of a descending blade. Towering over him was a figure that radiated menace and raw power: a Taung warrior.

The warrior's grey skin seemed to gleam faintly in the dim light, his predatory yellow eyes locked onto his prey. He swung a massive beskad sword in calculated arcs, herding the scavenger like a nexu stalking its meal. The Taung's every movement spoke of brutality honed through years of battle.

"What… or who…" Zaiya barely managed to breathe, her words faltering as her mind scrambled to process what she was seeing.

But there was no time for questions. The man's next scream ripped through the tunnel, and instinct took over. Zaiya thrust out her hands, the Force surging at her command with a telekinetic push.

The Taung staggered backward as the invisible wave struck him, forced to take a step to steady himself. His glowing eyes snapped toward the two Padawans, narrowing with deadly focus.

"Uh-oh," Zaiya muttered, eyes wide. So he didn't like that...

The Taung straightened to his full height, beskad blade glinting ominously. He rotated his neck with a slow, deliberate crack, then raised his weapon toward the teenagers.

Zaiya gulped, her colors shifting to a vibrant mix of bright yellow -- a mix of fear, adrenaline, and perhaps, foolish courage.

"Well," Zaiya said, forcing a nervous grin despite her rapidly pounding heart. "At least we got his attention."

The Taung roared, charging forward like an avalanche of muscle and fury.

"Plan?" Zaiya called to Vera, already moving to flank just in case. She had to work together with Vera to make sure they got out of this. Zaiya certainly had never fought at Taung warrior before, so this... was going to be a whole new level of combat.
