"I keep the butter for other things."

Wink wonk.

The fact that she liked him? Well, yeah. It gave him a warm feeling in his chest. But honestly, he had already assumed she did, because why would she otherwise spend her free time with him? It was one thing to spend a night together. Booze, pleasure, heavy feels. Gotta scratch an itch sometimes, eh? Today was different though. Just two people spending time together and exploring their hobbies. That was inherently an entirely different beast than what they had tackled all those weeks ago.

"Hm." He pondered on that, before shaking his head. "Should be fine. It might be tricky for first few seconds, but once we are on the board and there? I will compensate."

He peddled a bit closer, hip to hip, as they studied the waves together.

"Besides, gives me a better... angle to give you my tip, eh?"

Soft smirk there too.

"Okay, even for you, that was terrible."

About the butter comment.

She eyed the waves as he paddled up right beside her, then glanced over.

"Alright, let's give it a try. But don't blame me when we end up in the drink, yah?"

It took a little maneuvering, but eventually she was settled in front of him on his board. Once she was kneeling, he brought his legs up too and off they went. Good thing it was a long board. She glanced over her shoulder at him, then her eyes were drawn to the swell coming up behind them.

"This..... Um, Hiron, this wave looks an awful lotbiggerthanthelasttwoholychit."

It had gone all well.

Until it hadn't and they ended up in the water.

Moments after they were back at the beach. She had needed a breather after that. So Hiron went to fetch her board (left in the water) while she relaxed against the hot sand. He came back a few minutes later, flopping down next to her and relaxed himself. The conversation was easy. Just as lazy and slow as they were after that. "Repeatable? Or ya had enough for the rest of ya life." It had been intense, after all. Harder and more difficult than he had imagined.

But it was his first time tandem surfing, so it shouldn't have been that big a surprise.

"Jury's out, but give me a minute to catch my breath and usually I'll try anything twice."

Hiron laughed and nodded along. "Yuh, yuh, take your time." He shifted, rolling over on his side so he could look at her while talking. "Should be happy now I didn't pick the booster-powered boards tho. Can you imagine us on that thing?"

That would have been way more intense.

"We'd be dead," she answered promptly. An exaggeration to be sure.

"Not only dead but dead, hanging onto a surf board, halfway to Mon Calamari. Two skeletons motoring through space, wondering what the kark went wrong."

The sand and sun were warm, but even with her eyes closed she could feel the way it was finally dipping into afternoon. It wouldn't be long until the wind kicked up again and things got chilly. Norte handled the heat significantly better than the cold. And that was putting it mildly. If they were going to get any more in with her in wet clothes, it would have to be before the evening turned chilly.

Opening her eyes, she propped up on one elbow to look over at him.

"Want to tempt fate again? I bet I can nail one before we're done." Smiling, but a grim set at the corner of her eyes. A personal challenge now.

Head tilted at that description.

"Well. When you put it like that.... is it too late to grab a pair of powered boards?" Hiron teased easily as she propped herself up and they were eye-to-eye again. It was instinctive, reflexive, when his hand calmly reached out and softly cupped her chin. Letting his thumb run against her jaw while humming. "Hmmmm," For a brief moment enjoying the moment, before letting himself nod. "Yeah, why not. Heh. If you nail it, you can steer next time we tandem it again."

Maybe they'd do that again today.

But.

He recognized that purposeful glint in her eye. It was something that he got every once in a while.

When something became a personal challenge. Something that needed to be done. Simply to prove that he could. That meant that Hiron wasn't gonna stand between Norte and it. Wasn't going to suggest to go back towards duo surfing just yet either. Maybe in a bit. Maybe later. Either way- he leaned in, lingering just briefly an inch against her lips, his nose nuzzling hers. "Couple for good luck, eh? I might need it, if I want to keep impressing ya."

Joking with a smirk against her.
