Going with the Current

Connor was leaning over the heater more now, getting worked up, not even looking at Taeli as she beamed with excitement.

”Yeah I caused someone I know a long time ago to experience Shatterpoint by annoying them, and they nearly killed me as a result. And then later I….damnit…I learnt the basics with the Jedi Academy.”

Listening to her, he shook his head. Heaters drew in air from around them, heated it up, and expelled it.

One eye squinting, Connor didn’t expect this to work but he was losing patience and set about aggressively manipulating the water elements at the rear of the heater vigorously. He pushed to make the water form ice – think and spreading.

Then he saw the molecules inside the heater, and the coils, and fought them. The Force was greater than any machine and any single molecule, so he didn’t let them have a chance as he spread the ice from inside and the water, thickening up and freezing the inner coils – he focussed harder and pushed more, until he heard a cracking sound, and the heater started to slow, and cold frost blew out for a moment before it stopped altogether.

Smiling, he glanced up at the teacher.

”So…how’d I do?”

"Marvelously," Taeli said, giving Connor a kiss as a means of congratulating him. "You've got the basics of the technique down now, but practice makes perfect so everyday I want you to create some snow or ice or freeze and object. Keep it nice and fresh in your head on how it works, got it?"

The computer beeped that they were approaching the first drop point on the trip. They would have several of these on the way to Kyrikal, might take a day or so to get there judging by the current conditions in this section of the galaxy.

Looking at the heater as Taeli pressed her lips to his, Connor felt a little triumph, but still felt he could do better.

”I will, don’t worry.”

Sitting back, a little relaxed, he looked at the flashing LEDs and nav computer.

”When we get planet side and we find what you’re looking for, I’ll try to throw Shatterpoint your way. Knowing you, you’ll be able to master it no problem.”

He reached up and fingered her hand and smiled.

”I’m learning that about you. There’s nothing you can’t do when you put your mind to it.”

"I am rather ... uh I guess a good word might be stubborn in my pursuit of knowledge," Taeli chuckled. "I'm sure you'll be able to teach me plenty about the technique when you get around to teaching it. It will give you some practice in it too, so that will always help. Still, we have some time until we arrive at the Kyrikal system ... and I fully intend to catch up on lost time ... don't you?"

With that, Taeli got up and left the cockpit for her quarters ... hoping he might join her. They had about a day's travel still so plenty of time for everything and for them to bond even further.
