Dr Coal sat hunched over his datapad as the transport arrived in orbit. Staan knew that when he was sat down in front of a potential client he would be fine, yet the hour before was a nightmare of hand-wrenching and note checking. One of the slimeballs in Sales had offered to come. Staan had firmly suggested that as the meeting was technical in nature, the last thing he needed was a suit embarrassing the company.
"Staan, we're heading down to their HQ building now," said one of the InnoteQ team. It was Ryle, one of the up-and-coming engineers of the company. A bit wet behind the ears, but the thirty five year old was coming along well. Experienced enough to know his game, young enough to take risks and have that energy that clients loved.
"Fine, I hope they have good caff," Staan replied. He switched off his datapad and slid it back into his case, waiting for the click of the locks. Wouldn't do to have anyone stealing InnoteQ research. Omega Intel would love to get their hands on some of this stuff, but the case would wipe the contents with a mag pulse if tampered with. Staan had lost a few datapads that way by entering the code wrong too many times.
