Good Business

The receptionist sighed, another spam message to go straight into her junk box. Then she realised that it appeared to be from a valid business address.

Dear Sir,

If you could be so kind as to state the nature of your proposal, I can ensure that the appropriate director is put in touch with you.

Yours Sincerely,

"Thank you for your prompt response, I'll forward you to the director covering Arms technology.

Yours Sincerely,

Aska Vain"

"Dear Sir/Madam,

I am currently heading up the arms group of InnoteQ. Currently we work on small scale projects for perspective clients. Understanding this is an insecure channel, perhaps we should arrange a face to face meeting.

As we do not have a large capital to fund new workstreams, I would be keen to know whether this endeavour is part of an already funded contract, and if not I would like to see your high level business plan.

Yours Faithfully,

Dr Staan Coal.
Director.
InnoteQ Arms"

Melkor smiled as replied "I have an idea for a weapons design which will no doubt be profitable for us both. It is based of an existing piece of Vulcan Industries tech. If your company will provide the needed modifications then I will take care of production costs. We could call it a 60/40 profit split?"

"Dear Sir/Madam,

That sounds reasonable. We are well versed I'm providing modifications to existing technology. I suggest we arrange a meeting to discuss the technical elements and let our respective financial and legal teams look at the cost models, IPR split and business model.

I can pull together a design time for an initial get together and briefing next week?

Yours Faithfully,

Dr Staan Coal.
Director.
InnoteQ Arms"

[member="Raziel"] Melkor sent a message back saying "That sounds good though I will be handling all business matters personally. Shall we say a week from today at my base of operations on Empress Teta?"

Dr Coal sat hunched over his datapad as the transport arrived in orbit. Staan knew that when he was sat down in front of a potential client he would be fine, yet the hour before was a nightmare of hand-wrenching and note checking. One of the slimeballs in Sales had offered to come. Staan had firmly suggested that as the meeting was technical in nature, the last thing he needed was a suit embarrassing the company.

"Staan, we're heading down to their HQ building now," said one of the InnoteQ team. It was Ryle, one of the up-and-coming engineers of the company. A bit wet behind the ears, but the thirty five year old was coming along well. Experienced enough to know his game, young enough to take risks and have that energy that clients loved.

"Fine, I hope they have good caff," Staan replied. He switched off his datapad and slid it back into his case, waiting for the click of the locks. Wouldn't do to have anyone stealing InnoteQ research. Omega Intel would love to get their hands on some of this stuff, but the case would wipe the contents with a mag pulse if tampered with. Staan had lost a few datapads that way by entering the code wrong too many times.

Melkor was waiting patiently in the lounge of Vulcan Industries headquarters. He had a few schematics and things like that laids out at each of the table. Not to mention he had some really good caff on the table, just never ask where he got it from cus frankly even he doesnt know much about the process. HE chuckled at the joke in his head, there were a lot of things like that in his life lately but his policy was take it as it comes, and thats what he was doing now just taking life as it cames to him. "WAIT!!" MElkors eyes sprang open "I forgot to bring out a piece of product!!" He rushed to the back and soon returned with a collapsed thunder bow and placed it on the table

NPC:

Dr Coal sipped on the hot drink. Bliss. Placing the mug back down on the desk, he then took off his steamed up glasses and wiped them clear. He placed down a datapad and pulled out his preferred stylus. He opened a new file, ensuring the naming was correct to company policy. Meticulous.

"So, why don't you walk me through what we're trying to achieve?" he asked.
