Public Grab and Go (Spacer Guild and open)

His burning ship slowly started to fall apart, crumpling under its own weight. He couldn’t believe that it was happening. Wherever these enemies had come from, they were going to get what was coming for them.

While he stood there heartbroken, he heard a young man start to yell his direction. Looking over in the voice’s direction he saw a man standing there.

He yelled for him to get to a nearby ship, one that apparently hasn’t blown up yet. It wasn’t like he had much choice. As the man rushed off he made his way towards this ship. He run up towards the docking area where he found it.

This ship looked like the least capable thing to be in a fight. Looking inside he was greeted with a loud whistle, followed by a last call to get on.

Stepping inside he saw a man at the controls with a few other spacers sitting nearby.

This is the escape ship? I hope you know how to fly fancy kid.”

Placing himself down onto a seat, he waited to see if anyone else would get aboard and join them for this suicide mission.

=====================

The deck beneath her rumbled. Ahead, she could make out the shapes of the approaching fighters. One hand stayed on the yoke while the other moved to the side console with the weapons. Her co-pilot had already set the range for the missiles in the system.

"Double front shields," Aeshi said, watching as the edge of the hangar loomed close. Her bird-like companion nodded his beak and spun his chair around as the shields rippled around them. Then in a heartbeat, as the nose of the vessel pushed through the shield, she squeezed the trigger, firing a spread of three concussion missiles straight towards the oncoming fighters. As soon as they left the launch-tubes, she shoved the throttle all the way forward pulled back on the yoke.

It only took a handful of seconds for the missiles to detonate at the appropriate range and the blast shook the vessel around her, and alarms blared around them, which she muted.

"I read you, Red," she was finally able to answer over the comm. "But I don't have the maneuverability to take on those fighters." She tightened the safety webbing in her seat and took in the situation. "But I can keep that frigate busy. Hit 'em hard."

She settled the headset more securely around her forehead and adjusted the mic. "Power up the turbolasers. Time to score ourselves a frigate."

In his heart of hearts, Jerec wasn't sure which was worse: getting called 'kid' by some grizzled holostar-handsome guy who looked like he'd never done an honest day's work, or the two sketchy characters who'd come aboard together. The Twi'lek had a 'screw you then kill you' vibe going on that reminded Jerec of his ex-wife (who'd also been a Twi'lek, as it happened, and a Sith Lord to boot). Her decrepit associate reminded him of something he couldn't quite name.

But they and a dozen other escapees were aboard his ship, and the situation demanded immediate action, and he just plain had no time to worry about all of the above.

The Bad Habat - a bronzed, scarred Ithorian shuttle - roared out of the hangar bay and into a brutal firefight. He pulled up immediately, skimming along the comet's ragged surface with his belly to the fight. Fast and blind: not a great way to run, but not bad either.

"Everyone strap in and hang on!" he yelled...after the fact.

When you were young and kept your head down, people tended to dismiss you. And this was hardly the first time Liam had encountered this situation. He liked spacers, and they paid well - if not always in credit and coin, they still paid. He had trinkets from a dozen systems, exotic booze and weapons, and even an Echani ritual brand his mother would have loved. If he saw her again, he would gift her it. But they tended to dismiss the young pretty-boy covered in grease in mech coveralls. So he made his way through crowds easy as you please.

As the bombs rocked, he grabbed his tool kit and bolted towards the next hangar where his ship was, ignoring the shouts of the Rodian who demanded he finish the repair to the concussion launcher. In point of fact, it was fixed. Just not mounted. The bug-stalk could do that later or shoot himself out it for all Liam cared. His leads regarding his father would do him no good if he was blown to bits before he could follow them.

An ear-bleeding whistle sounded, and he watched as a blast tore apart the hangar where his sleek little freighter was. Well, the freighter he was piloting. He hadn't asked many pesky legalities when he found the keys a few systems over. It had been sitting for weeks without being touched anyway. Salvage rights, right?

Shuffling his mechanic pack to his right shoulder, he slid the strap up to position it as he slid into the freighter with the whistling man and tried to remain inconspicuous, though several of the obvious repairs made him a bit uneasy... Was that plumb sealant tape over a hole in a fuel line, or was he going mad from being in the black too long? He heard that could happen. Then suddenly he was pressed forward, g-force going crazy as the pilot decided his shuttle was an interceptor.

Cursing, he knelt and began putting pressure on the fuel line, starting to try and properly fix it. Mag clamps locked on his boots and he twisted the line, eyeing the fitting. The hole was patched, and actually should hold... But the differences in pressure between hose and patch had caused the line to swell. Might over-swell the coupling and pop off and spew fuel internally. Bad way to BBQ for the crew.

"Hey fly-boy, another of those turns and we're bathing in coaxium. Gimme half a minute off full throttle to make sure your EXPOSED FUEL LINE will hold. Or if you're cold, pull another turn and we'll all get real warm."

His mother told him he had his father's way with words. And usually said it when he was dressing down irresponsible pilots.

With his back pressed against the makeshift barricade, Alkor took a breath. Burning O-zone assaulted his senses and he felt the desperation of the Stormtroopers as their near continuous volleys warped garbage metal. "Wait for the lull," he muttered.

They always get tired. Patience ain't a virtue for nothing, kid.

Alkor glanced at Alma Fuerte and busied himself with one of the calibration knows. Stormtrooper armor rebuffed most blaster fire without lethality, but the pain generally downed them for the count. He didn't want to kill them if he could help it. Most of the Sith-Imperial Stormtrooper Corps didn't even want to enlist.

He stretched out his awareness for a split second and felt the minute fatigue that radiated off them. "Just a little longer."

"We ain't got much longer before more of them get in," the old man snapped. "Its now or never!"

"Wait!" Alkor tried to call out in time, but the sudden surge of violent intent stunned him. With his mind reeling back, Alkor rubbed his temple and shook himself off. He rose just in time to watch.

Blaster bolts rained on the old Spacer burning his clothes, melting his flesh, fusing muscle to bone. He died before he hit the floor. "Tex?" the younger of the two questioned the Galaxy in disbelief. "....Tex?"

Alkor heard his still-breathing companion falter and saw tears welling up. "We don't have time to mourn him!" the Corellian burst into action as the Stormtroopers continued to train their fire on the visible target.

He remembered the protocol. Anyone could be sustained by the Force. Atomize them. Leave nothing that might survive.

Bursts of dialed back, red energy struck three unwitting Stormtroopers in the span of five heartbeats. They hit the deck screaming. Five more turned their fire on Alkor, who dropped behind cover once more.

"Stang it, Tex, you said we'd go out together!" the remaining Spacer screamed defiantly at fate. "Now I've got to-"

"Cool your karkin' motivator," Alkor tugged the man down by the shirt. "You think Tex would want you to go out like he did? Reduced to atoms?"

"Tex-" he clapped a hand over his mouth and gagged. Alkor saw vomit spew through his fingers. The spacer sobbed violently.

"We gotta get to a ship and get off this rock before it gets too hot."

"Watch your mouth, kid, or you're gonna find yourself floating home." Jerec eased off the throttle and looped the shuttle through a narrow ice crevasse that might offer temporary cover.

He caught a glimpse of a familiar screwball TIE variant. Relief washed through him. He toggled the comms. "Jegy Gorram Sesara, you are exactly who I needed to see just now. I'm the toothless shuttle doing loop-de-loops through the comet periphery - can you give me some cover for a breakaway?"

The Force roared out to him as soon as the next enemy arrived. Xeykard's eyes flicked to the scanners, but there was nothing there.

A cloaked ship.

Whoever this other Jedi was, they were far more dangerous than the little one that'd launched from the shadowport. Xeykard released his telekinetic grip on the A-wing's controls and the tractor beam failed to lock on as it flew away.

"Sir-"

"There's-" The enemy fighter decloaked, firing a salvo at short range. The shields held up -- little contest, in truth -- but the surprise was not a welcome one and the frigate seemed to pause as the ship flitted away.

"Blast that piece of junk out of the sky," he said. His lips curled into a snarl; his tail flicked in anticipation. Through the Force he felt the danger, the preparation, the shot, and-

He threw his hands up. The missile was redirected from its course; shooting above the frigate and detonating away from it and the shadowport. The concussion shields held against the hit, but it still felt for a moment that something enormous had fallen on top of the frigate. The challenge from their attacker was not missed.

Xeykard slammed the console, broadcasting his response. <<"JEGY SESARA! YOU DIE TODAY!">>

"Bring down that fighter, NOW."

"Sir, we're almost close enough to fire into the hangar-"

"This one does not care. Turn it to space dust."

"Yes sir."

The Red Rain opened up with its turbolasers, hammering the shadowport's side with a full broadside. Xeykard himself turned his attention to the little starfighter. His spectral hand reached forward, searching for any hold on the ship or pilot. Whatever he could find, he'd crush with all the strength he had. The laser cannons found their marks and opened fire.

Via, seeing everyone aboard that could make it, turned and shut the ramp. She found Darth Solipsis Darth Solipsis and took a seat beside him. She wanted to take time. Meditate on the Force. But she was concerned what effect it would have on others on board. Not knowing who else was touched by the Force, she thought she would forego it. Instead, she wrapped herself in the Force, concealing her signature essence.

Unable to focus and sit still, she stood and headed for the cockpit to get a better view of what they faced trying to escape. Seeing the TIEs and all else, she frowned. And began to wonder what was going on at the station to warrant Imperial attention. Or was it a person, in particular that was wanted? Perhaps someone on this ship with them.

After a time, she returned to Laevus.

Strange, for the Imperials to be all the way out here, at a random space port? Unless it is not random. In which case, it makes me wonder who they are after. Perhaps...

She let her words drift off, as her mind takes to thinking and making plans.

The anxious nature of his companion on this journey did not escape him, his hooded gaze cast over to Via Via and his upper lip nearly curled into a snare as she returned to his side. "Be still. There are enough on board who worry over trivial matters. The only thing that should concern us is making it to our destination, in one piece." His voice was calm, unlike those around him, he seemed unbothered visibly by the events unfolding around them. There was no mistaking the undertone however, beneath the calm exterior was an assertive, and irritated individual who's attention was divided. He had stretched out with his senses, his psyche and rode the currents that existed beyond the veil. He could sense the players moving their pieces, their signatures in the Force were there for him to see.

The Sith commanding the frigate, the two Jedi taking to the stars. The one who could touch the Force that flew the very starship that sat on. He could feel the ship jolt and rock as the pilot expertly navigated them out of harm's way the best he could.

He would be content with observing until his powers were warranted, there was little need to flaunt or reveal himself. At least on board the Bad Habat, especially when the two were traveling incognito. There was a lesson here as always for his companion. A test hidden beneath the surface, they were always tested, such was the code they followed. It would be his duty to reveal that lesson in ways she would pick up on without spelling it out for her, and her duty to understand them and grow from the experience. Laevus exhaled deeply as he rose from his seated position, he would move to get a better view and if the time came where he needed to help influence events, he could do so freely. "I'm going to speak with the captain." The old man trailed off for the cockpit, walking stick in hand as he entered to look upon the man piloting the vessel that would save the skin of all onboard. Jerec Asyr Jerec Asyr

There was a distinct comn chatter blaring through his cockpit as to his surprise, he heard Jerec on the other line.

"How unusual for the Force to bring us together. Very well, navigate through...I will bring them some trouble."

Pressing his throttle further forward, his Tie Phantom would screech through space as turbolasers shot behind him as he felt a tremendous amount of anger through the Force...as if someone was not happy to see him here. The response pretty much blared itself out as he responded back in kind, giving it a bit of snideful commentary.

"Best do it right! Twice I cheat death from the Nether!"

Flicking the stick to the side, he would erupt with his three laser cannons as he chased after a nearby starfighter, weaving left and right through turbolaser and laser fire as he felt one laser cannon hit its mark as it gave a soft whining noise. 67% was his remaining deflector shield as he made sure it was double back as he had minimal up front and tried to time it right, letting loose a tri-shot to destroy the starfighter in front of him before feeling something try to grab his starfighter, it responded differently. The Force was being used and he was very attuned to such things, before of course, he had to give up a majority of his power.

"Should never have done that."

Pointing his hand in that general direction as he felt part of his cockpit bend inward lightly, he focused with the Force and, while not as powerful as he was years ago, he still let loose a devastating Force Shockwave with only one hand. He truly meant for it to go straight after Xeykard Xeykard starfighter but fate seemed to intertwine as a fellow pilots starfighter seemed to have gotten in the way and was shattered into thousands of pieces, peppering harmlessly onto the Siths starfighter. Giving a huff, he would do something pretty crazy and dive himself into the Shadowport as it was collapsing, hoping the others would follow.

Here on the dark side of the comet, heavy ice-dust and drifting chunks offered shelter, and he'd been quick enough to find it before the TIEs could pinpoint his position again.

A chill ran up Jerec's neck, and it had nothing to do with the close shave he'd just avoided. He glanced back as Darth Solipsis Darth Solipsis came into the shuttle's cramped little quote-unquote bridge. Something in Jerec's gut suggested that being alone with the old guy could be hazardous to his health in a variety of circumstances.

"How's it going back there?" he said. "Any bumps and bruises? The inertial dampeners aren't that great on this thing." He gestured at the plume of cometary debris that surrounded them. "We're safe for the moment, in case you didn't hear the engines cool down."

"I am fine. I cannot speak for the others, but I sense they will survive."

His hooded form stood in the doorway of the shuttle's bridge, walking stick in hand he stepped forward slowly. "Safe? Is that what you believe? I feel this tale is long from over. Plans are fragile things, life often dashes expectations into the ground." The Elder's gaze drifted, looking out into the expanse of the cold void laid out before his eyes. "Tell me, Captain. Where are we heading?"

Thud. The sound of his walking stick slammed hard into the ground, "I have a favor to ask. In return, you will be richly rewarded." His freehand glided to his sash across his waist and freed a small pouch from his hip. He let his walking stick rest against his shoulder, freeing his right hand as he began to unravel the pouch. The cloth pouch unfolded, revealing a set of ancient coins and precious gems. "There is far more if you do as I ask."

As Darth Solipsis Darth Solipsis bid her to be still, she moved to a window that offered a good vantage point of the battle raging around them. Studying the large ships first. She wanted a sense of their purpose, their actual target. Then her attention shifted to the small starships. The ragtag group that was attempting to escape and the Imperial TIEs hell bent on shooting everyone from the stars.

She could feel herself becoming centered once more. She pulled her hood up over her Lekku and head. She wore plain black robes and cloak. It bore no insignia or adornment. It billowed slightly, around the bottom hem and sleeves. Facing out the window fully now, she closed her eyes and began the process of focusing her will and preparing to unleash the Force as far as her senses could reach.

Her hands lifted, palms up and slightly facing to her sides. Head tilted back, lips slightly agape. Her eyes opened, and they now blazed red, radiating heat and rage. She unleashed the Dark Side within her. She directed it out in waves. Manipulated it to find other Force signatures. Her eyes scanned one fight to another to another.

A plan formulated within her. Patience, she cautioned herself. Darth Solipsis Darth Solipsis was always warning her about her impatience. So she had made it a central focus. She practiced whenever she could. This was a perfect time.
