Greater Good

"A fair enough question indeed. We respect all local laws and as I mentioned wish to establish dialogue. We will not trouble or go looking for it but we will retain our right to defense of our selves and our property should others decide to start making trouble. You may find we cooperate quite well with the local law enforcement to ensure that peace and the profit is maintained."

"As for the other it may take awhile but we would need to define was is legal and not legal based on your laws. As I mentioned we ship a vast array of product, what mwy be legal on some worlds, you may wish forbidden imported here which is why it is important we are clear on what is allowed or not."

"On the subject of weapons, we do require a little clarification. As I mentioned earlier Ravens hold our freedoms in the highest regard. To this extent we few right to bear arms an extrinsic part of our capability to defend such freedom. I cannot guarantee any Raven would willing part with their weapons. Now on the other hand, you are referring to sales of weapons, we are licensed weapons dealers. We trade in everything from raw components, home security, body armor and training gear. We supply law enforcement agencies on a dozen worlds, as well as military defense contacts. Again if you wish to ban the sale of certain items we would be amenable to listen to your request."

Kay nodded as she listened to him speak of the Red Ravens not being ones to cause trouble. That was a good thing. "You will be allowed to defend yourselves, of course. Given our location in the Galaxy, it would not be unheard of for trouble to arrive. We have our own military here that will defend us from any invasion. Fleets from our allies are also nearby as a buffer to deter the drummers of war. But...should our defences fail and armies arrive to to establish control, would the Red Ravens that are already here, help to defend us? They would be compensated for it of course."

She leaned back in her chair as she gave him some clarification on what would be considered illegal on Commenor. "Spices and other recreational drugs are not permitted. Slavery is also not permitted, so there'll be no trafficking of sentients. And the only weapons not permitted are the biological warfare ones, meaning no viruses or toxins. I don't want to risk the Commenori getting wiped out. And no weapons of mass destruction that would be large enough to turn Chasin City or others into massive craters in the ground. Blasters, blaster rifles, vibroblades, lightsabers, all of those are legal and can be on your person at all times, if you wish. We are not in the safest corner of the Galaxy and I'd like everyone to have a chance at staying alive." As an afterthought Kay added, "Oh! And razernets are also illegal." That was more a personal one. The only time that she was caught and brought in for a large bounty was with a razernet. She very nearly bled to death. It wasn't the greatest experience.

"You may want to consider speaking with your advisers on that. The build up or even the mere presence of sufficent Red Ravens can cause undue concerns considering the impression that the public has of criminal activity. Further our charter forbids us from compelling our members to provide military assistance least we give the impression of taking sides. I can, however, pledge to offer assistance should the need arise. Furthermore I could make arrangements to speak with your military and give them options for self defense. As a military man myself, I know that I would not like the idea of having to trust the defense of my home and love ones to outsiders."

"I will convey your request of banned products to my brothers and sisters. Can I get pledge in return that any Red Ravens who visit your worlds would be welcome for our stay provided we keep within your laws? The last thing we appreciate is to be accused of something without basis save rumor and gossip."

"Oh before I forget, what is the general perception of droids? We have encountered societies where droid use is reviled and forbidden. We would need to know in order to avoid possible future misunderstandings."

"I understand. We are currently bolstering our forces. I ask this of everyone wishing to have Embassies here, for I would be very discouraged should we be attacked by those that we welcomed if they allowed themselves to be hired by those that want to invade and occupy us." Of course she had a few aces up her sleeve should that happen. Hopefully it never would and they would be all left alone.

"Should the Red Ravens obey our laws, they are more than welcome to stay here. We are used to visitors and businesses from across the Galaxy setting foot on our soil, so there should be no problems there. I give you my word on that.

With regards to droid use, we have no issues with them. One of my most trusted friends is a sentient droid, and many are used for help with construction and maintenance. So your people are welcome to bring yours."

She had another sip of her tea and then got to her feet, taking hold of the kettle. "Would you care for more tea, Daxton?"

Kay wondered who else would be wanting to build Embassies here. At least it spurred growth and would deter people from needing to fall into crime to make ends meet.

"Excellent. I am most pleased that we are on the same page. I find that this is the best opportunity to begin a relationship. I will make arrangements for our law techs and arbiters to arrive soon in order for us to begin to study your existing and pending laws and how they would relate to us."

"As for our joint projects, we will continue to supply the clinic until construction is completed on the hospital. We would require a land grant be issued as wellas the relevant local licenses to operate. We will seek your governments input on which of the local construction agencies to tap as well the import tariff for medical supplies and equipment be waived for Red Raven imports. We wish to collaborate with the local government so that the design matches the local aesthetic. Finally when construction is complete a joint consultation between your government and our group for the selection of students."

"As for the embassy, we would like to purchase the equivalent of one Terran Hectare. I know that sounds large but it would house not only the embassy staff and personnel but alsoa meditiatipn garden and small shuttle space port. Unfortunately for security we will have tp bring in our own teams for the construction."

"May I please have more tea. Do you have any questions before we proceed."

Kay poured him some tea and then refilled her cup before she sat herself back down on her chair.

A relationship? It was funny how he kept using that word to describe this little alliance. But maybe in some ways it was like a relationship as well.

"I noticed on my tour of the clinic yesterday that some of the equipment has seen better days and needs replacing. I'll get to work on that. I asked Judah to send me a list of what is needed. There will be no tariffs or taxes for the equipment, of course.

As for your Embassy, we have plenty of land with different terrains that you can choose from. Our population isn't very large, so outside of the cities and warehouse districts there is plenty of space. Once you've picked out a spot, we'll get the permits arranged for you after the land is surveyed. We have plenty of construction supplies and you are welcome to bring your own workers.

Will I always be dealing with you directly? Or will there be someone else once things get underway? Also we should hold a small press conference to break ground and establish to the Commenori that we are working together and not abiding by rumours. Would you mind partaking in that with me?"

"To be honest, a large portion of our members prefer to remain private and out of the limelight due to the bad press we have gotten in the past. Which means, that roughly I am the face of brand. I will admit, its not much to look at but I like to think the good we do makes me more than just a pretty face."

"Initially I will be here to oversee operations but if duty takes me elsewhere I will assign Judah as my liason. I just wish he would stop being stubborn and take the job full time. Ever since the incident, well I would prefer to put him away from the front lines and danger."

"Now in regards to the press conference we will commit to support you. We would like to request you downplay our role. Until your people get a.better understanding of who we are, I don't think its in your best interest to be associated with a 'known criminal' organization like ourselves just yet, wouldn't you agree?"

Kay sipped her tea, nodding to his comments about privacy. She preferred it as well, but lost that right once she was pushed into taking this job. She raised a brow slightly as he touched on some incident with Judah. "What incident would that be?"

She thought about his statements on downplaying their role in the press conference. It seemed as though he misunderstood what the press conference would be about. "The press conference would be regarding the construction of your Embassy. I'd like to use it to showcase that your people are not what they are rumoured to be. That will help to ease any discomfort that others might have towards you. They know that I will not allow myself to be bought by anyone or any corporation, so I should have their trust with my decisions. Having your Embassy constructed in secret just would not do. And as you said, Daxton, your good deeds will stand out more than who you are."

The only time Daxton seemed to hesitant was when he spoke about Judah. "I am sorry Kay but that is something you will have to take up with him, should he wish to discuss it in detail. I hope you understand."

When the opportunity to switch topics presented itself he was quick to take advantage. "Oh the embassy. Apologies I misunderstood. Of course, we would cooperate, our people can collaborate on which aspects the media can cover. Speaking of media, we would also like to arrange for ours to do segment pieces on your world. Aside from yourself perhaps we can arrange interviews with other interesting personalities and cover local events, if you are amendable."

She nodded about his suggestion to talk to Judah. Perhaps she'll do so later on.

And then Daxton spoke about the media. Kay raised a brow slightly as he suggested that his people also brought their own media. It was of course a fantastic idea. She sipped her tea and nodded. "Joint press conferences and media tours of Commenor would be wonderful. With many other governments and groups wanting to build Embassies here and grow their economies, it would be a welcome sight. Good news instead of doom and gloom for the holonet." Already she was picturing it all in her mind. This would work. This would all have to work. The whole Galaxy could benefit from it.

The pair spent the next few hours in discussion about joint projects that both were surprised when the clock chimed to remind them that dusk was already close at hand.

"If would seem Kay our time together has flown by rather swiftly. Now as much as I enjoy your company, I know you are busy as well with other matters of state. Since we are in agreement on most issues shall we call it the day? All that we need is when will we hold the press conference?"

The time flying by had caught her by surprise indeed. But it wasn't any time that was wasted. They had achieved plenty in that time, which was more than what some others could say. Her first real interaction with a Red Raven was proving to be very pleasant.

"I'm sure that you could use some time to contact your comrades and bring them over to start the construction. So how does the end of next week sound? Is that enough time?" She wasn't quite sure of where they would be coming from, so she merely guessed at the date after thinking of what was already on her schedule.

"That would be more that sufficient. Now if you will excuse me I have much work ahead of me, although I am sure you are quite familiar with the situation. Should you have any concerns please feel free to contact Judah or myself. I thank you Kay fo this golden opportunity for greater understanding between our peoples." he would pause to see if there were any additional concerns, should there be none he would stand up and conclude the meeting with a traditional handshake.

Kay nodded in agreement. There was much work for her to do as well. Permits, contracts, land surveys. She had to be sure that the large Embassy was nowhere near the mines. And there were plenty of them.

She got to her feet and shook [member="Daxton Bane"] 's hand. "I shall see you next week then. Take care."

He would be watched by security as he left the Presidential Palace and it's grounds, just like all visitors were. Who he was made no difference.

[member="Lady Kay"]

The Sith knew that wary eyes were watching him, probably every able body the security as well as electronic surveillance. While this did not pose a threat to his plans, he supposed there was no harm in a little fun.

As he exited and began to leave the grounds of the Presidential Palace on foot, a nearby shuttle landed and disgorged its passengers. He appeared to head staight for it when he suddenly and completely disappeared before their eyes. It was as if reality suddenly swallowed the Sith without leaving a trace but it was merely a very powerful Force Cloak which hid him away from eyes both organic and electronic.

So much to do he thought to himself as he headed in the direction of the Space Port.
