Part of him wanted to shove Kalo back.

Touching him? Some low-born thug, no doubt.

Joining this conference to make a quick buck or two without any idea of propriety and dignity. It wasn't lost to him that several bodies were attaching themselves to him outside of Cassandra. Some lady with a couple of guards, a few other dignitaries and businessmen, all looking to him on what to do. This wasn't what Itash had planned, but in truth it was only right.

They saw he was noble and needed someone to dictate things for them.

Made complete sense.

"Good eye, miss Paige." A reassuring squeeze around her wrist, before gently pulling her with. The Thyrsians around them continued to make a path, continued to pull away attention from them, protecting the few stragglers that were smart enough to see Tash's natural role as the leader. It was the span of several breaths, maybe twelve in total, before Itash slammed the door open and ushered Cass through first.

Then himself and the rest followed forth.

"We got a problem." That was obvious, but it had to be reaffirmed before some of these people started to crack and whine. He didn't have the energy to deal with that right now. "But the solution is simple. Stick together. Don't panic. Keep moving. We go up, my shuttle is there and we can make our escape. Questions?"

Cass wasn't particularly thrilled by the small crowd forming around them. More likely to call attention to them. She didn't really care what happened to all of the people at the conference, so long as she got out of there safely. The best way to do that was probably to not. Be. Noticed.

Then again, more bodies around them meant that if they were noticed, there would be people between her and them.

She weighed it and found it unsatisfying, but acceptable.

Grey eyes caught grey eyes, and the look she gave him was equally considering in that moment.

He would let them die as certainly as she would let him. They were strangers, but both recognized the same in the other and at least it was familiar. Like recognized like.

Her attention moved back to the man beside her, drawing her with him. Letting him guide her through the door and up, the small group filling the stairwell before Itash spoke. Cass just nodded.

She was a practical sort. And Itash was the best bet to make it out of here. That was good enough for her. Once those with them agreed, they started to head up the stairs.

A sharp retort sounded, muffled by the door ahead of them as they crested the next landing, and Cass glanced over at him.

"They're on multiple levels," she murmured, low enough that it was only for his ears. Not that she thought for a moment no one else had heard it.

There was tension in the air, and Astrid had decided she didn't like it. It was thick and heavy, like a cheap cologne.

Only it's scent was the threat of being gunned down without hesitation.

Astrid certainly wouldn't rank it very high in her list of favourites.

She followed the path that was being carved out for them, her two guards keeping close; one kept their focus forwards while the other covered their rear. Neither had fired a shot, not wanting to draw attention to themselves as they made their escape.

They didn't care for those that were left behind, their job was to ensure her safety - that was all.

Astrid watched and listened to what was happening, an effective distraction to keep her mind off the danger. She could afford that, at least for now.

She raised an eyebrow when a man barged past, Tionese by the sound of his accent. It seemed to cause a reaction in the Tapani, a flicker of anger and distaste in his expression. Although at least Itash was immediately back to the situation at hand.

Paige...why does that name ring a bell?

It was going to be something that nagged at her mind, but right now that was the least of importance.

"Yeah, I have a question." Eyes were on her now, but there was nothing new to her. "Any ideas on who exactly it is trying to kill us?"

With her bodyguard, Helen continued to move throughout the immediate area. Doing their best to avoid the attention of the Red Masks, though they were already occupied with the groups that they had been forming.

It wasn't too soon after that a number of shuttles began to descend at the points of entry, where the groups had been gathered precisely. The Masks Began to separate some people from the outskirts of the crowd, shooting them dead to get the crowd moving forward and into the shuttles.

It didn't appear to just be a fear tactic, however, as even though the crowd was moving they were still grabbing people that were rather difficult to get to. Pulling them out and firing into them.

By then a few dozen more bodies littered the floor. Among the Red Masks was one different. A man whose mask was silver. He walked within the gathering of soldiers like a teacher inspecting their students. Once a shuttle was filled, it began to lift off.

Helen watched one such shuttle depart only a few meters away, and the Red Masks moving towards the next area. That is when she noticed a group of others, not the enemy, gathered together.
